In a study, scientists ask 577,000 children how much time they spend on screens, schoolwork and sports every day. They find about 68% of them spend more than 2 hours on screens. Two hours of screen time a day is bad for children’s health. The study shows harm (伤害) starts after 75 minutes of screen time for girls and 105 minutes for boys. Why is that? “It is because ▲ . In our study, 24% of boys spend an hour a day doing sports, but only 14% of girls do that,” Dr. Khan says. So it is important for students to do sports and balance their screen time. Tom has a “three-time system (系统)” for his son Patrick-a “go time” for schoolwork, a “slow time” to play games or talk with friends on the Internet and a “green time” for sports. “We need to get children out and move. Why is that?” 根据“In a study, scientists ask 577,000 children how much time they spend on screens, schoolwork and sports every day.”以及“So it is important for students to do sports and balance their screen time.” 根据“Tom has a ‘three-time system (系统)’ for his son Patrick-a ‘go time’ for schoolwork, a ‘slow time’ to play games or talk with friends on the Internet and a ‘green time’ for sports.” 根据“So it is important for students to do sports and balance their screen time.” D。 B Saihanba is China’s largest forest. It lies on the south of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Saihanba means “beautiful and high mountains”. Around the 10th century, the rulers of the Liao Dynasty (916—1125) made it a royal (皇家的) hunting place because it was home to beautiful forests, green grasslands, clear lakes and different kinds of wild animals. Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1644—1911) liked Saihanba so much that he made hunting there a royal festival. The royal festival finally stopped in 1860 because of no money and it had to be open to the public. After that, the cutting down of trees and wild fires changed green Saihanba into gray deserts. By the 1950s, the beauty of Saihanba had completely disappeared with only one tree left. The tree is now famous as “the Tree of Honor”. On seeing the tree, Chinese scientists made up their minds and dreamt of restoring Saihanba. In February, 1962, the plans were made and more than 120 foresters joined 242 local people in Saihanba to begin rebuilding it. Over the next 55 years, those first tree-planters fought against many difficulties to continue planting trees. After their death, their children and relatives followed their footsteps and went on with their hard work of planting trees. Today, the scientists’ dream has come true and beautiful grassland and flowers appear again around the tree of honor. Chinese people successfully changed Saihanba in the past half-century. 16.What’s the right order of events (事件) given in Paragraph 2? ①Saihanba became a royal hunting place. ②Saihanba was a desert and disappeared. ③Saihanba wasn’t closed to the public any more. ④Saihanba turned into the place for royal hunting festivals. A.①③②④ B.①③④② C.①④③② D.①④②③ 17.What does the underlined word “restoring” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A.Looking around.B.Bringing back. C.Arriving at. D.Travelling to. 18.According to Paragraph 4, how does the writer feel about Chinese people? A.Proud. B.Worried. C.Cheerful. D.Nervous. 19.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage? (P1—Paragraph 1) A. B. C. D. 20.What is the best title of this passage? A.Saihanba: Past and Present B.The Largest Forest in China C.The Disappearing Saihanba D.The Tree of Honor in Saihanba 【答案】 根据“Around the 10th century, the rulers of the Liao Dynasty (916—1125) made it a royal (皇家的) hunting place”和“Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1644—1911) liked Saihanba so much that he made hunting there a royal festival”和“The royal festival finally stopped in 1860 because of no money and it had to be open to the public”以及“By the 1950s, the beauty of Saihanba had completely disappeared with only one tree left”可知,正确顺序为①④③②,故选C。 17. 根据“On seeing the tree, Chinese scientists made up their minds and dreamt of restoring Saihanba”以及“Today, the scientists’ dream has come true and beautiful grassland and flowers appear again around the tree of honor”可知,科学家看到“功勋树”后,梦想让塞罕坝恢复往日的样子,且最终梦想实现,美丽的草原和花朵再次出现。“restoring”应意为“恢复、使回归”,与“Bringing back”含义相近。故选B。 18.推理判断题。根据“Today, the scientists’ dream has come true and beautiful grassland and flowers appear again around the tree of honor. Chinese people successfully changed Saihanba in the past half-century”可知,作者描述了科学家的梦想成真,塞罕坝重现美丽景象,还强调中国人在过去半个世纪成功改变了塞罕坝。字里行间透露出对中国人这一成就的自豪之情。故选A。 19. A。 C The mangrove wetlands (红树林湿地) of Shenzhen’s Futian and Hong Kong’s Mai Po are very valuable. Every year, many waterbirds fly from East Asia to Australia. These wetlands are a key place for them to rest. These years, Shenzhen and Hong Kong have worked together to protect these important wetlands. Why are these mangrove wetlands so important? Because they are like nature’s protectors. They make a natural wall, protecting coasts from big storms (暴风雨). Besides, the thick forest of mangrove trees provides a perfect home for birds. They build nests there and look after their babies. “Even during storms, baby birds are safe in the mangroves,” said Simon Wong from Hong Kong’s nature team. What’s more, mangroves help take in CO₂ and clean the water. As a result, they are helpful for both nature and humans. To protect the wetlands together, Shenzhen and Hong Kong have used different ways since 2023. One of them is to protect birds’ homes with the help of modern AI technology. Thanks to their efforts, the population of endangered birds in the wetlands has grown. For example, there were only about 300 black-faced spoonbills (黑脸琵鹭) around 30 years ago. Now there are nearly 7,000. In November 2024, the two cities started a new part of their teamwork. The International Mangrove Center (IMC) in Shenzhen opened. The IMC does research on mangrove protection, shares useful ideas and gives classes to the public. Its opening helps Shenzhen and Hong Kong work better to protect the wetlands. It also shows the world how cities can join hands to protect the environment. 21.What does the underlined word “them” in paragraph 1 mean? A.Cities. B.Wetlands. C.Waterbirds. D.Mangroves. 22.What can we learn from paragraph 2? A.Mangroves are unsafe for baby birds. B.Mangroves can protect tall buildings from storms. C.Mangroves can produce a lot of CO₂ and dirty water. D.Mangroves are good for not only nature but also people. 23.Why does the writer talk about black-faced spoonbills’ population? A.To introduce modern AI technology. B.To tell readers what the birds look like. C.To explain why endangered birds are important. D.To show the success of protecting birds’ homes. 24.What can we infer (推断) from the last paragraph? A.Students can do research on mangrove protection in the IMC. B.The IMC guides cities to work better together and protect nature. C.The IMC mainly helps the two cities to build more mangrove forests. D.People don’t need to worry about wetland problems because of the IMC. 25.What is the main idea of the passage? A.Mangroves provide safe homes for waterbirds. B.The IMC in Shenzhen helps protect the wetlands. C.There are more black-faced spoonbills in Shenzhen. D.The two cities protect the mangrove wetlands together. 根据“Every year, many waterbirds fly from East Asia to Australia. These wetlands are a key place for them to rest.” 根据“As a result, they are helpful for both nature and humans.” 根据“Thanks to their efforts, the population of endangered birds in the wetlands has grown.” 根据“Its opening helps Shenzhen and Hong Kong work better to protect the wetlands. It also shows the world how cities can join hands to protect the environment.” Smart robots will possibly replace the following jobs in the near future. Isn’t it amazing? 26 Many of the news reports you’ve read have been written by software. One of the world’s most well-known magazines, Forbes, for example, sometimes runs computer-based articles. Drivers will probably be less needed because self-driving cars are being developed and tested in the US, Europe and China. 27 They don’t have blind spots. They don’t get sleepy or tired. They don’t check their phones while driving. They never drink before driving. 28 Robots will also take the place of waiters in restaurants. They can serve customers, take orders, and cook delicious dishes. 29 Just go to the robot restaurants, order the food you want, and then enjoy the delicious food made by robots. Robots will replace many jobs in the future. However, we should also remember that robots can never replace human beings. 30 So, even if robots become more popular in the future, we should still learn to think by ourselves. A.So people are looking forward to them. B.People won’t need to cook meals any more. C.Believe it or not, reporters are among them. D.It is important for us to develop AI technology. Secondly, we can do something to save energy in our daily life, such as saving water and electricity. Besides, we can’t throw away rubbish here and there. Let us take action for building the Greener Campus! Come on! D.Travelling to. 18.According to Paragraph 4, how does the writer feel about Chinese people? A.Proud. B.Worried. C.Cheerful. D.Nervous. 19.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage? (P1—Paragraph 1) A. B. C. D. 20.What is the best title of this passage? A.Saihanba: Past and Present B.The Largest Forest in China C.The Disappearing Saihanba D.The Tree of Honor in Saihanba C The mangrove wetlands (红树林湿地) of Shenzhen’s Futian and Hong Kong’s Mai Po are very valuable. Smart robots will possibly replace the following jobs in the near future.
