Today was my first day of my new school. It was the most exciting day of my life. When I walked into the school, I became nervous and anxious (焦虑的). It was so big that I was afraid I might get lost. I didn’t know anyone, and I felt lonely.
I know that teenagers should wear the right clothes to be popular. But I’m not sure which are the right clothes and which are the wrong clothes. I saw a girl in the hall who looked very cool, and she was talking to a group of kids. She was wearing the same jeans as I was, which made me feel good about my clothes. I felt more confident. I looked at my timetable to see what my first class was.
My first class was math. I really like math. I went into the classroom and sat down at a desk in the second row right near the door. A girl named Pat, who was sitting behind me, left a deep impression (印象) on me. She was very friendly. She was also very forgetful. She forgot her pen, so she borrowed mine. She forgot her paper, so I gave her a piece of paper. The one thing she didn’t forget was my name. We felt like friends already!
I left math class and began looking for the science classroom, Room 211. I looked and looked, but I couldn’t find the stairs. I was worried that I would be late for class. It would be terrible to be late for my first science class. I hurried down the hall and finally saw the stairs. I ran quickly up the stairs.
Suddenly, I tripped and my books fell from my hands and all of my papers went flying. I was so embarrassed (尴尬的). Just then, Pat came up the stairs with two of her friends. She saw me and said, “Hi Jenny.” They helped me pick up all of my papers.
We rushed to Room 211 together and made it just before the bell rang! Sitting next to Pat in science class, I no longer felt nervous or lost. By the end of the day, I realized my new school wasn’t scary at all—thanks to a little luck, a kind friend, and even a clumsy moment that brought us closer. I can’t wait for tomorrow!

The Internet allows people to share their thoughts with others all around the world. However because many users don’t use their real names, some feel free to post negative comments (评论) without worrying about the results. That’s why online spaces can sometimes be filled with words that hurt people’s feelings.
A new study has found that negative comments can do more than just hurt feelings—they can also increase anxiety (焦虑) and lower mood, showing how powerful online negativity can be.
For the study, 129 adults first chose a topic they liked, such as gardening or baking. Then, they were asked to imagine themselves as bloggers writing about that topic. Next, the participants (参与者) were given a pre-written blog post about their chosen topic, and they were asked to imagine they had written it themselves.
After that, they saw 10 comments on the blog post. These comments were either all positive, neutral (中立的), or negative, depending on the group they were in. Altogether, each participant read 40 comments for a total of four blog posts.
After reading the comments, the researchers used questionnaires to look at how anxious the participants felt and how their mood changed.
The results showed that reading negative comments made people feel much more anxious and lowered their moods more than positive or neutral comments. The results also found that people who saw negative comments had higher levels of “arousal”, which in this sense means feeling more on edge (坐立难安) or ready to react.
Younger adults, under 35 years old, were more affected than older adults, suggesting younger people may be more sensitive (敏感的) to online negativity.
This research shows the real effects that negative comments can have on adults’ mental health, especially younger people. It also shows the importance of finding better ways to manage online negativity, for both social media platforms and users.
Learning how to recognise and protect yourself from negative comments is an important step toward staying mentally healthy in today’s online world.
27. What does the word “arousal” in Paragraph 6 most probably mean?
A. Anxiety. B. Stress. C. Boredom. D. Anger.
28. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Online negativity can be powerful enough to change people’s thoughts.
B. The older people get, the more sensitive they will be to online negativity.
C. The good way to manage online negativity is to leave the comments alone.
D. Online negativity is likely to make people stay in a mentally unhealthy state.
29. What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage?
A. To present the powerful effects of online negativity.
B. To compare the effects of different types of comments.
C. To encourage people to view online negativity positively.
D. To remind people to be responsible for negative comments.
【答案】27. A 28. D 29. A

五、阅读表达(第34题2分,第35、36题各4分,共10分)

Do you feel more tired when it’s cold outside? Maybe you’re eating more snacks, sleeping a lot, putting on weight, or just feeling a bit off.
The good news is, you’re not the only one! Lots of people go through these “winter blues”. But what if it’s not just the colder weather making you feel this way?
Winter blues is a type of disorder (紊乱) that happens when the days get shorter, because getting less sunlight can affect your sleep and your mood.
A scientist said that having a routine is very important to fighting winter blues. Waking up at the same time every day, even on weekends, can help your body stay balanced.
Light is also key when it comes to winter blues. Light is important because it increases serotonin (血清素), a chemical in your brain that improves your mood. This also helps you feel less tired, because the serotonin tells your body to make melatonin (褪黑素), a chemical that helps you sleep.
It’s important to try to get some sunlight in the morning. If that’s not possible, at least turn on your lights when you wake up. Doing something simple, like taking out the trash or going for a short walk, can also help.
The scientist also says it’s good to eat balanced meals. Foods like meat, fish and soy have tryptophan (色氨酸), which helps your body make serotonin.
Spending time with other people can also help. Being alone too much can make you feel worse—but being too busy can be stressful, so don’t meet more people than you feel comfortable meeting! Try to keep it balanced, the scientist says.
34. What is winter blues?

Last summer I visited Guilin with my family. The scenery was amazing—green hills and clear rivers. I tried bamboo rafting for the first time, which made me excited and happy. During the trip, I also learned about local culture by talking to friendly villagers. This experience taught me that traveling opens our minds to new things. I felt relaxed and full of energy after the trip. I believe exploring the world helps us grow and enjoy life more.

24. How did Jenny feel when she walked into the school?
A. Excited. B. Nervous. C. Confident. D. Embarrassed.
25. What happened in Jenny’s first class?
A. Pat sat next to Jenny. B. Jenny lent her pen to Pat.
C. Pat gave Jenny a piece of paper. D. Jenny left a deep impression on Pat.
26. What made Jenny realize her new school wasn’t scary at all?
A. Getting her new friend’s help. B. Helping her forgetful classmate.
C. Arriving at the science class on time. D. Wearing the same jeans as a cool girl.

The Internet allows people to share their thoughts with others all around the world. However, because many users don’t use their real names, some feel free to post negative comments (评论) without worrying about the results.
B. The older people get the more sensitive they will be to online negativity.

五、阅读表达(第34题2分,第35、36题各4分,共10分)
阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。

35. What can help people fight winter blues?
