Still,in room 386,academics don't come first.Physical health and mental health are the priority.“If you're scared about something and thinking only about that, there's no way you're going to be able to learn,”Ho says.“I'm a coach,an adviser, and a comforter, and that's what it means to be a hospital teacher.” There are up to 30 students at any given time in Ho's class. She generally works with their regular teachers to get lessons and tests being used at their home schools. Some teachers don't give the kids any assignments;they express sympathy instead.“I feel like it is a disservice to the kids,” Ho says.“They think their teachers don't care about their schoolwork.” Ho recognizes the psychological benefit of helping kids keep up with their peers (同龄人) outside the hospital.“I actually think the medicine is only a small piece for some problems,” says Julie Good, director of pain management services at LPCH.“It's about problemsolving around what it means to have a full life. Those kids have dreams.School can keep those dreams alive by giving kids a way to learn and grow.” 1.Who does Ho teach at LPCH? D.Showing no sympathy. 4.How does the hospital school benefit the students according to Good? A.It eases peer pressure. B.It helps them live in hope. C.It frees them from aches. B Researchers are building a database of human voices that they'll use to develop Abased tools that could eventually diagnose (诊断) serious diseases; they're targeting everything from Alzheimer's to cancer. The National Institutes of Healthfunded project is an effort to turn the human voice into something that could be used as a biomarker for disease, like blood or temperature. The research team will start by building an app that will collect voice data from participants with conditions like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, depression, and autism. They would be asked to say sounds, read sentences, and read full texts through the app. Then, they'll use the datasets to build AI models that could detect the various conditions. The research team is working with the medical AI company Owkin to build and train the AI models in the project. The model learns separately on each dataset, and then the results of those trainings comeback to a central location. Then, the updated combined model is sent back out to each of the locations, and the process begins again. That lends an additional layer of privacy protection to the voice data, which is unique in that it can be easily tied back to the person it comes from. People's voices are easily identifiable, even if their name is removed. A team of bioethicists (生物伦理学家) is working on the project to study whether it is morally and legally acceptable to build a voice database and to diagnose diseases based on it. They're going to be thinking through, for example, if voice is protected and whether patients own their own voice data. For now, the new research program isn't interested in building programs for home devices. It's focused on developing tools that would be used by doctors in doctor's offices and clinics. It'd be particularly helpful in lowerresourced settings where someone might not be able to see a specialist. 5.What do the second and third paragraphs focus on? A.The research tools. B.The research process. C.The research method. D.The research background. 6.Who might benefit most from the project? A.Some medical institutions. B.Nursing homes for the elderly. C.Villagers living in remote areas. D.Citizens with access to family doctors. 7.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.Your voice might diagnose diseases. B.AI models are built with joint efforts. C.Voices are collected to cure diseases. D.An app is being built to collect voice data. 2.without even thinking/without a second thought 不假思索地;毫不犹豫地 3.without delay 立即;毫不迟延地 4.without hesitation 毫不犹豫地 5.sb could hardly wait to do sth 6.She couldn't wait to see Colin and told everything about her morning. 7.Without delay, he climbed up the tree quickly to reach for the leaf. 8.He could hardly wait to get back home and tell his parents everything. 9.The water was freezing cold, but without a second thought the young man jumped in. He saw me__________,and __________. 3.“梅格,”他说,“我已经七十岁了。即使对像你这样的美丽的年轻女孩也不会有任何伤害。进来和我待一会儿,暖和点。” “Meg,” he said, “I'm seventy years old. He saw me hesitate, and smiled. “Meg,” he said, “I'm seventy years old. Completely harmless, even to a beautiful young girl like you. Come in and keep me company for a bit, and get warm.” I laughed, because he knew what I was thinking, and very few people ever knew what I was thinking. Then I walked into his house without hesitation. ( 1 ) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
