It’s called Songkran and is celebrated on the 13th of April each year. Although Thai people do celebrate New Year on January 1st, they also consider Songkran the beginning of a new year where they begin to make a fresh start. But Thai people use water instead of fireworks, believing water symbolizes cleanliness. VIVID Sydney(AUSTRALIA) Every year, Sydney organizes one of the biggest festivals of light, music and ideas in the world. There are so many things you can do in VIVID Sydney. You can see fantastic light show, enjoy cutting-edge cultural art performances and attend inspiring talks and meetings. The three main big events in the festival, VIVID lights, VIVID ideas, and VIVID music, will definitely blow you away. Running of the bulls(SPAIN) Some love the excitement of running from bulls, while others think it’s dangerous and crazy. However, this festival still runs in Spain every year where up to 2,000 people put their lives on the line with the bulls. Why? Simple, for fun. Anyone can take part in this Spanish festival, as long as you know all the rules of the event. Otherwise, you might be kicked out. Fringe Festival(SCOTLAND) Soon after the war ended in 1947, Scotland hosted the Edinburgh International Festival to welcome artists all over the world to perform in order to make peace. During the festival, 8 groups of performers turned up uninvited. Surprisingly, people started to cheer for them. Many artists were inspired and followed their lead ever since. In the Fringe festival, it doesn’t matter if you’ re a newcomer or a professional. Anyone can make their production come true and enjoy all the wonderful shows. 1 What is special about VIVID Sydney? A. It’s considered as the very beginning of a year. B. It presents live high-tech cultural show. C. It challenges courage and wisdom. D. It’s suitable for artistic talents. 2. Which celebration became a festival unintentionally? A. Songkran. B. VIVID Sydney. C. Running of the bulls. D. Fringe Festival. 3. In which section of a magazine does the text probably appear? A. Culture. B. Literature. C. Opinion. D. Sports. B 2. D 3. 根据VIVID Sydney部分中“You can see fantastic light show, enjoy cutting-edge cultural art performances and attend inspiring talks and meetings.(你可以欣赏精彩的灯光秀,享受前沿的文化艺术表演,参加鼓舞人心的讲座和会议)”可知,该节日会呈现现场高科技文化演出。 根据Fringe Festival部分中“During the festival, 8 groups of performers turned up uninvited. Surprisingly, people started to cheer for them. Many artists were inspired and followed their lead ever since.(在节日期间,有8组表演者不请自来。令人惊讶的是,人们开始为他们欢呼。许多艺术家受到鼓舞,从那以后纷纷效仿)”可知,边缘艺术节最初是因不请自来的表演者受到欢迎而无意发展成的节日。故选D。 【3题详解】 推理判断题。本文介绍了四个不同国家的特色节日,属于文化类内容,因此最可能出现在杂志的“Culture(文化)”版块。故选A。 B “Make me a muscle(肌肉) and show me power!” Even at 5 years old, I knew to reach my arm out and show my biceps(肱二头肌). My father, passing through the room on his way somewhere else, would check out my upper arm and laugh, “Very good,” he’d say. Then he’d make a muscle back and ask, “Am I strong or what?” It became a family joke. We had a home gym, equipped with a collection of free weights, exercise bike, jump-ropes and heavy sandbags. As far back as memory serves, my brother and I would join in our father’s training. Every evening, our father would ask us to hold down his legs while he did sit-ups. After dinner, under the yellow neighborhood streetlights, we’d go nighttime jogging down to the parking lot. Exercise was fun in our house, because our father was wonderful at playing. What did we learn, as children, from all of this early training? Being strong was good, for both of us. The most striking thing about the physical education my brother and I received from our father was that he trained us equally, regardless of size or age. I grew up feeling that there were limitless possibilities lying ahead of us. In his way, my father was trying to tell us that muscles need more consideration than we give them. We often think about muscle as existing separately from intelligence, and even one taking resources from the other. The truth is that our brain and muscles are always in conversation with each other; our long-term brain health depends on muscles— and moving them— especially when it comes to aging bodies. We’ve got to exercise those muscles— put them to use, regularly practise them— for them to work dependably. 4. How does the author introduce the topic in paragraph 1? A. By making a comparison. B. By describing a scene. C. By listing numbers. D. By giving reasons. 5. Which word can best describe the author’s father? A. Inspiring. B. Daring. C. Humorous. D. Authoritative. 6. What does the author like best about her father’s physical education? A. Fun exercise. B. Personalized plans. C. Equal training. D. Limitless opportunities. 7. What does the author imply in the last paragraph? A. Muscle has nothing to do with intelligence. B. The way you build muscle is the way you build life. C. Mental health plays a more significant role in well-being. D. Brain energy can never be channeled into physical energy. B 5. C 6. C 7. 根据第一段““Make me a muscle(肌肉) and show me power!” Even at 5 years old, I knew to reach my arm out and show my biceps(肱二头肌). My father, passing through the room on his way somewhere else, would check out my upper arm and laugh, “Very good,” he’d say. Then he’d make a muscle back and ask, “Am I strong or what?” It became a family joke.(“给我秀个肌肉,展示下力量!” 即便年仅5岁,我就知道伸出胳膊秀出我的肱二头肌。我父亲在家里经过我的房间时,会看看我的上臂,然后笑着说:“非常好。” 然后他也会秀个肌肉,问道:“我是不是很强壮?” 这成了一个家庭笑话)可知,作者通过描述和父亲互动秀肌肉这一场景引入话题。故选B项。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段““Make me a muscle(肌肉) and show me power!” Even at 5 years old, I knew to reach my arm out and show my biceps(肱二头肌). My father, passing through the room on his way somewhere else, would check out my upper arm and laugh, “Very good,” he’d say. Then he’d make a muscle back and ask, “Am I strong or what?” It became a family joke.(“给我秀个肌肉,展示下力量!” 即便年仅5岁,我就知道伸出胳膊秀出我的肱二头肌。我父亲在家里经过我的房间时,会看看我的上臂,然后笑着说:“非常好” 然后他也会秀个肌肉,问道:“我是不是很强壮?” 这成了一个家庭笑话);根据第三段“Exercise was fun in our house, because our father was wonderful at playing.(在我们家锻炼很有趣,因为我们的父亲很会营造轻松的锻炼氛围)可知,父亲让锻炼变得有趣,说明父亲是幽默的。故选C项。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“The most striking thing about the physical education my brother and I received from our father was that he trained us equally, regardless of size or age.(我和哥哥从父亲那里接受的体育训练,最让我印象深刻的是,无论体型或年龄,他都平等地训练我们)”可知,作者最喜欢父亲体育教育中的平等训练。故选C项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“The truth is that our brain and muscles are always in conversation with each other; our long - term brain health depends on muscles—and moving them—especially when it comes to aging bodies. We’ve got to exercise those muscles—put them to use, regularly practise them—for them to work dependably.(事实是,我们的大脑和肌肉始终相互关联;我们的长期大脑健康依赖于肌肉——以及让肌肉动起来——尤其是对于衰老的身体而言。我们必须锻炼那些肌肉——让它们发挥作用,定期训练它们——这样它们才能可靠地发挥功能。)可推断,作者暗示锻炼肌肉的方式就如同构建生活的方式,都需要持续为之付出努力。故选B项。 C I was on the phone with a friend the other day, and because I can’t sit still, I started to clean my plant with wet wipes. It was nice, I thought, gently attending to the plant while I chatted away in my living room. As the sun bathed each shining leaf, I grew more peaceful. Connecting yourself with nature is good for you. Being outdoors has been shown to improve your mood, concentration and mental health. But indoor green spaces, even small ones, have benefits for our physical and mental well-being, too. Viewing nature indoors, scientific research suggested, can lower your heart rate and blood pressure. The presence of plants in a hospital room has been shown to reduce pain and anxiety in patients. Touching soil, even if it’s in pots on your windowsill (窗台), may improve your physical health as well by making your immune system stronger. “So get your hands dirty. Don’t see plants as something to look at, but not touch,” said Dr. Willis, a professor of biodiversity of Oxford. When taking care of plants, we can also regard it as an opportunity to check in with ourselves: Am I getting enough water? Have I gotten enough sunlight today, too? Or we can use the time to pick up the phone and connect with someone. “I’ve had some of my best conversations with friends as I’ve been watering my plants.” Dr. Willis said. That feeling of satisfaction will bring mental benefit on a regular basis. Moreover, your workspace doesn’t have to be a wasteland. “If you have an office that gets some light, consider bringing in something green,” Dr. Willis said. “The presence of plants in a workspace has been shown to make workers happier and more productive.” But if you’re a beginner, there are some of the best houseplants you can choose from. 8. How does the author find cleaning the plant when chatting on a phone? A. Addictive. B. Breathtaking. C. Comforting. D. Tense. 9. What can indoor plants bring in terms of health? A. Reduced blood pressure. B. Deep self-reflection. C. Sharp mind. D. Festive mood. 10. What might the author continue talking about? A. The tips for increasing worker productivity. B. The recommendations for easy-care houseplants. C. The measures taken to improve office atmosphere. D. The ways to strike up a conversation with workmates. 11. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Touching Soil Can Make You Trouble-free. B. Houseplants Can Make You Healthier. C. From Wasteland to Wonderland. D. From Hospital to Garden. 【答案】8. C 9. A 10. B 11. B 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要阐述了与自然接触,尤其是室内绿植对人们身心健康有益,包括能改善情绪、降低心率和血压、增强免疫系统等,还提到照顾植物可成为自我审视及与他人交流的契机,最后指出工作空间也可引入绿植,文末暗示将介绍适合新手的室内植物。 8题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段“As the sun bathed each shining leaf, I grew more peaceful.(当阳光沐浴着每一片闪亮的叶子时,我变得更加平静)”可知,作者在打电话聊天时清理植物,感觉很舒适、惬意。故选C项。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“Viewing nature indoors, scientific research suggested, can lower your heart rate and blood pressure.(科学研究表明,在室内观赏自然景观可以降低心率和血压)”可知,室内植物在健康方面能降低血压。故选A项。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“But if you’re a beginner, there are some of the best houseplants you can choose from.(但如果你是新手,有一些最好的室内植物可供你选择)”可推断,作者接下来可能会谈论适合新手、易于照料的室内植物的推荐。故选B项。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。主要阐述了与自然接触,尤其是室内绿植对人们身心健康有益,包括能改善情绪、降低心率和血压、增强免疫系统等,还提到照顾植物可成为自我审视及与他人交流的契机,最后指出工作空间也可引入绿植,文末暗示将介绍适合新手的室内植物。B选项“室内植物能让你更健康”为最佳标题。故选B项。 D Endless rows of bread fruit, cold cuts and cheese. Breakfast buffets (自助餐) across the world promise richness. But behind the attraction lies a darker truth: food waste. According to UNEP’s Food Waste Index Report 2024, 1.05 billion tonnes of food were wasted globally in 2024, with 28% coming from food service. Buffet breakfasts are among the worst offenders, generating more than twice as much waste as plated breakfasts — around 300g compared to 130g for made-to-order meals. “Wasted food means wasted resources like land, water and energy. Once in landfill, it gives off greenhouse gases that harm the planet,” says Jocelyn Doyle, head of marketing & communications, The Sustainable Restaurant Association. “Cutting food waste is a powerful way to make a difference — and breakfast is a smart place to start.” Hotels across the world are trying to meet this goal: Scandic Hotels in Northern Europe are downsizing their cakes, with the option to come back for more; French-brand Ibis hotels use smaller plates to limit waste; Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit posts polite reminders near buffet stations: “Take only what you can eat.” Award-winning Thai-American chef Pichaya Pam Soontornyanakij believes this is a timely conversation to have. “The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet shouldn’t be a symbol of quantity or waste, but of thoughtfulness, quality, and care — not just for guests but also for the planet.” This is where small but effective tricks help reduce waste without hurting guest satisfaction. Smaller plates and limited clean dishes can encourage guests to take less. Offering smaller quantities, along with frequent refills, can discourage waste while ensuring freshness. Simple, well-placed messaging can also provide mindful choices. Doyle also suggests that hotels reconsider under-consumed items, set up cook-to-order stations and reduce the selection of items on offer. Ultimately, however, Doyle recommends that hotels give serious consideration to removing the buffet altogether — and improving their breakfast experience instead. 12. What does the underlined word “offenders” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Wrongdoers. B. Caregivers. C. Mind-readers. D. Peacemakers. 13. What is paragraph 4 mainly about? A. The phenomena of food waste in hotels. B. The reasons for limited food choices in hotels. C. The efforts made to reduce food waste in hotels. D. The ways to customize dishes for guests in hotels. 14. How can food waste be reduced? A. By improving customer satisfaction. B. By ensuring food freshness. C. By placing numerous reminders. D. By offering small servings. 15. What is Doyle’s attitude towards breakfast buffets? A. Appreciative. B. Favorable. C. Unconcerned. D. Doubtful. 【答案】12. A 13. C 14. D 15. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了全球自助早餐浪费现象严重,以及酒店为减少食物浪费所采取的措施。 【12题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第二段中“Buffet breakfasts are among the worst offenders, generating more than twice as much waste as plated breakfasts — around 300g compared to 130g for made-to-order meals.(自助早餐是最严重的offenders,产生的垃圾是套餐早餐的两倍多——约300克,而定制餐为130克)”可知,自助早餐产生的食物浪费更多,是食物浪费的“罪魁祸首”,因此“offenders”在此处意为“Wrongdoers(犯错者,罪魁祸首)”。故选A。 【13题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第四段中“Hotels across the world are trying to meet this goal: Scandic Hotels in Northern Europe are downsizing their cakes, with the option to come back for more; French-brand Ibis hotels use smaller plates to limit waste; Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit posts polite reminders near buffet stations: “Take only what you can eat.”(世界各地的酒店都在努力实现这一目标:北欧的Scandic酒店正在缩小蛋糕的尺寸,并可以选择再回来多拿一些;法国品牌宜必思酒店使用较小的盘子来限制浪费;曼谷素坤逸诺富特酒店在自助餐区附近张贴礼貌提醒:“只拿你能吃的。”)”可知,本段主要介绍了世界各地的酒店为减少食物浪费所采取的措施。故选C。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据第六段中“Smaller plates and limited clean dishes can encourage guests to take less. Offering smaller quantities, along with frequent refills, can discourage waste while ensuring freshness.(较小的盘子和有限的干净盘子可以鼓励客人少拿。提供较小的数量,并经常补充,可以减少浪费,同时确保新鲜度)”可知,通过提供小份的食物可以减少食物浪费。故选D。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Ultimately, however, Doyle recommends that hotels give serious consideration to removing the buffet altogether — and improving their breakfast experience instead.(然而,最终,Doyle建议酒店认真考虑完全取消自助餐,而是改善早餐体验)”可知,Doyle对自助早餐持怀疑态度,认为酒店应该考虑取消自助餐。故选D。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2. 5分,满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Doubtlessly, dogs love us hopelessly. Even so, a puzzle comes up: ____16____ So far, the answers have come in terms of behavioral and physiological measures. The former is dogs’ action that looks like love; the latter is how their bodies change in ways similar to our bodily changes when we fall in love. ____17____ It’s anxious and sometimes destructive behaviour a dog performs in your absence. This disorder is really a form of attachment(依恋), a word first used to describe the relationship between mother and child. When separated from the mother, the child feels upset at separation and calm at reunion. ____18____ What happens in dog-human relationships(even in a disorderly way) looks like the same thing. More research presents dogs’ understanding of our emotional states. ____19____ This behaviour looks like an expression of love, too, although it remains uncertain whether they’ re trying to comfort us or just worried about the unusual sounds we’ re making. Physiologically, research suggests dogs’ heart rates also show their love. In one small study with close dog-human pairs, researchers gave both dog and person heart rate monitors, separated them momentarily, and then reunited the pairs. On reunion, the heart rate of both dog and person dropped. ____20____ A. They’ll come close when we’ re crying. B. Why are dogs the human beings’ best friends? C. They are confused about why we feel alarmed. D. What are the dogs’ defining behaviours of love? E. This connection is part of the development of a loving relationship. F. The drops even appeared to be the same—two hearts beating as one. G. If you live with dogs, your dogs may be experiencing separation anxiety. 【答案】16. D 17. G 18. E 19. A 20. F 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,围绕狗狗表达爱意的方式展开,从行为表现和生理变化两个角度,结合研究分析狗狗对人类的依恋与爱意。 【16题详解】 根据上文“Even so, a puzzle comes up:(即便如此,一个疑问也随之而来:)”以及下文“So far, the answers have come in terms of behavioral and physiological measures.(到目前为止,答案主要来自行为和生理两个层面的观测)”可知,此空需要提出一个与狗狗的爱相关的疑问。D选项What are the dogs’defining behaviours of love?(狗狗表达爱意的典型行为有哪些?)以问句形式承接前文的“puzzle”,同时引出下文从行为、生理角度的解答,符合语境。故选D项。 【17题详解】 根据下文“It’s anxious and sometimes destructive behaviour a dog performs in your absence. This disorder is really a form of attachment (这是狗狗在你离开时表现出的焦虑、有时带有破坏性的行为,这种异常举动其实是一种依恋的表现)”可知,此空需要引出“分离焦虑”这个概念。G选项If you live with dogs, your dogs may be experiencing separation anxiety.(如果你和狗狗同住,你的狗狗或许正经历分离焦虑)中的“separation anxiety”与下文的“anxious and sometimes destructive behaviour in your absence”相呼应,开启本段对狗狗依恋行为的介绍,符合语境。故选G项。 【18题详解】 根据上文“When separated from the mother, the child feels upset at separation and calm at reunion.(幼儿与母亲分离时会烦躁不安,重逢时则会平静下来)”以及下文“What happens in dog-human relationships looks like the same thing.(狗狗与人类之间的相处也会出现同样的情况)”可知,此空需要说明幼儿与母亲之间的这种联结的性质。E选项This connection is part of the development of a loving relationship.(这种联结是爱意关系建立的一部分)中的“This connection”指代前文幼儿与母亲的分离—重逢反应,同时衔接下文狗狗与人类的相似关系,符合语境。故选E项。 【19题详解】 根据上文“More research presents dogs’understanding of our emotional states.(更多研究表明狗狗能读懂人类的情绪状态)”以及下文“This behaviour looks like an expression of love, too, although it remains uncertain whether they’re trying to comfort us(这种行为也像是一种爱的表达,尽管我们无法确定它们是想安慰我们)”可知,此空需要列举狗狗读懂人类情绪后的具体行为。A选项They’ll come close when we’re crying.(当我们哭泣时,它们会主动靠近) 是狗狗感知人类悲伤情绪后的行为表现,对应下文的“This behaviour”,符合语境。故选A项。 【20题详解】 根据上文“On reunion, the heart rate of both dog and person dropped.(重逢时,狗狗和主人的心率都有所下降)”可知,此空需要进一步说明心率下降的相关细节,体现二者的联结。F选项The drops even appeared to be the same—two hearts beating as one.(双方心率的下降幅度甚至完全一致,两颗心仿佛同步跳动) 承接前文的“he heart rate of both dog and person dropped”,通过补充细节强化狗狗与主人之间的情感联结,符合语境。故选F项。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Emma looked up at the route (路线) on this rock climbing wall. Their friendship stretched all the way back to primary school and strengthened through numerous shared adventures together — riding bikes, playing football in the park, and helping each other with homework. However, the real strength of their friendship was put to the test one rainy autumn night. Jack was in the final stage of preparing for an important school presentation. It was for a significant competition, and he had been working on it for weeks. His topic was “The Wonders of Nature”, for which he had carefully collected photographs, perfected the speech, and even fashioned a model of a waterfall to present his ideas. Yet, the night before the presentation, disaster struck — his computer crashed, taking with it all his files. In panic, Jack called Tom in the middle of the night. “Tom, help me!” His voice was shaking, “I’ve lost everything! There’s no way I can redo it all in one night! What should I do?” Without a moment’s hesitation, Tom comforted him, “Don’t worry, Jack. I’m on my way!” Despite the pouring rain and the late hour, Tom got out of bed, picked up his laptop, and rushed through the empty wet streets to Jack’s house. By the time he arrived, his clothes had been totally wet. Jack met him at the door with a dry towel, wearing a look of guilt and shame. “You’re wet all over... I’m so sorry...” he began. Tom just smiled, wiping the rain from his face. “I’m fine. Really. We’ll figure this out — together.” 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 For the next five hours, they worked shoulder to shoulder. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The following morning, Jack confidently stood on the stage and presented his work. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 For the next five hours, they worked shoulder to shoulder. Tom helped Jack look up the nature photos that Jack had collected before, and Jack sorted out the speech content which he had prepared for weeks. When Tom typed the words into the new file, Jack fixed the waterfall model that was a little broken. They didn’t stop for a minute, and they finally finished all the work when the sky turned bright. The following morning, Jack confidently stood on the stage and presented his work. His speech was so wonderful that all the judges praised him a lot. When he finished, he told everyone that he couldn’t make it without his best friend Tom, who helped him through the hard night. Tom smiled happily in the crowd, and their friendship became stronger after this experience. Jack knew that what mattered most was not the prize, but the friend who came when it rained — a moment he would never forget. 词汇激活 行为类 ①修理:fix/repair/mend ②完成:finish/complete ③成功:make it/succeed ④帮助某人度过(困难时期等):help sb. through/support sb. through 情绪类 ①赞扬:praise/compliment ②开心地:happily /delightedly 【点睛】【高分句型1】Tom helped Jack look up the nature photos that Jack had collected before, and Jack sorted out the speech content which he had prepared for weeks. Culture. B. Literature. C. Opinion. D. Sports. B “Make me a muscle(肌肉) and show me power!” Even at 5 years old, I knew to reach my arm out and show my biceps(肱二头肌). C I was on the phone with a friend the other day, and because I can’t sit still, I started to clean my plant with wet wipes. D Endless rows of bread, fruit, cold cuts and cheese. D. Doubtful. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2. 5分,满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Doubtlessly, dogs love us hopelessly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
