Fokina was heartbroken after losing three championship points in the third set — the last one came when de Minaur made an amazing effort to survive. The Spaniard has never won a title at the ATP level, and has now lost in two finals. Fokina cried after the final point and hid his face in his towel (毛巾). De Minaur noticed “his” opponent’s low spirits and at once went to comfort him. The Aussie was seen sitting next to Fokina before resting an arm around him and offering some words of encouragement. Tennis fans were blown away by de Minaur’s act, which came before he’d celebrated the victory (胜利). De Minaur also offered some kind words for Fokina in his victory speech, saying: “You’re way too good not to have one of these victories. It’s coming for sure. You deserved (值得) it today. I just got lucky. You are a great competitor and player. This is not the end.” Davidovich Fokina also praised de Minaur, saying the Australian “deserved the win”. “He was fighting for every ball,” he added. The beautiful moment between the pair made the tennis world fall in love with de Minaur even more. One person wrote online: “Hard not to feel for Alejandro Davidovich Fokina today and hard not to admire how kind this was of Alex de Minaur.” Another commented: “I have a newfound respect for Alex de Minaur after he comforted Fokina. C Dr. Will Stymiest, a family doctor in Canada, noticed a big change in a fellow (同事) a few months ago: He almost always left the office first. “Since he started using the AI tool, he was leaving before me almost every day,” Stymiest said, referring to a new software (软件) that can transcribe (记录) and summarize conversations (对话) between doctors and patients. A week into trying out the same tool himself Stymiest was won over. “I’ve three small kids to pick up on my way home, so I have to be out on time. I’m so far spending less time in the evenings and on weekends catching up.” The AI scribe program uses a microphone to listen to conversations between doctors and patients. It removes small talk and then summarizes the visit into a medical note that the doctor can share with other team members and that becomes part of the patient’s medical file. Stymiest is testing an AI scribe for three months as part of a medical test. He thinks it might help the health care system. If a doctor cuts 30 minutes of paperwork daily, he could see up to three more patients per day. This could help shorten the list of people who wait for a basic care provider. But AI scribes aren’t perfect. Dr. Tahmeena Ali, a family doctor, provided an example: Based on what it learned from other doctors’ suggestions for back pain, the AI scribe added specific back exercises that Ali never said herself. Each time a patient had a similar back problem, Ali would have to delete (删除) the incorrect text. Patients seem to accept the AI tool. Stymiest said no one in his practice has refused it so far, and only one of Ali’s 900 patients said no. Dr. Vincent Liu, a research scientist in California, believes AI will become part of the standard way in health care. “I don’t think that we are ready to let AI make important decisions without human guidance,” Liu said. “But, I think that it won’t be long in the future where patients themselves are wanting to receive care that’s AI supported.” 8. How did the AI scribe change Stymiest’s life? A. He was set free from paperwork. B. He didn’t pick up his kids anymore. C. He achieved a better work-life balance. D. He no longer needed to work on weekends. 9. Why does Stymiest think the tool can do good to the health care system? A. It lets more patients get medical services. B. It supports doctors in making medical decisions. C. It helps patients understand their medical records. D. It allows doctors to leave work half an hour early. 10. What problem did Ali meet when using the tool? A. It transcribed unclearly. B. It added wrong content. C. It missed useful information. D. It failed to connect to the Internet. 11. What does Liu think about the future of the tool? A. It depends on patients’ acceptance. B. It is likely to be refused by patients. C. It may be widely used in health care. D. It will make human checks less necessary. D For humans, flashing a smile is an easy way to avoid misunderstandings. And, according to a new study, bottlenose dolphins may use a similar method while playing with each other. The study found that dolphins make an open-mouthed expression comparable to a “smile” during their play. To conduct the research, a group of scientists from Italy and France observed 11 dolphins at Zoomarine Rome and another 11 at Planet e Sauvage in western France playing with each other, their human trainers, and on their own. The researchers found that the dolphins “smiled” almost always when they were in their playmate’s field of view, and their playmate gave a “smile” in response (回应) about one third of the time. This suggests it is a form of communication, with researchers hypothesizing (推测) that by “smiling” at each other, the dolphins could stop their games from turning into a real fight due to miscommunication. Although their expression looks like a smile to humans, dolphin-communication expert Heather Hill, a professor at St. Mary’s University who wasn’t included in the study, reminds people not to read too much into it. “I do think the dolphins join in an open-mouthed response during play situations. But I’m not comfortable calling it a smile, as they show this behavior in many other contexts,” she said, pointing to its use during fights or alone time. “Should we really just see it as an information exchange like’ hey, we are on the same page?” she added. Despite dolphins’ playfulness and rich social lives, their facial expressions during play had never been studied before. The researchers in the latest study found that 92% of the examples when dolphins used the open-mouthed expression happened when they were playing with each other, rather than with humans or by themselves. All the dolphins observed for this study are living in captivity (圈养) . Hill noted that the “smiling” behavior probably happens in the wild too, but perhaps less often, as wild dolphins spend more time looking for food and avoiding dangerous animals. “The next step would be to study those wild species and observe their behaviors in the same kinds of context,” she said. 12. What did the study find about dolphins’ “smiling” behavior? A. It may be their special way of showing love. B. It may be used to avoid misunderstandings. C. It is often seen when they make mistakes. D. It is learned from human trainers. 13. How might a dolphin respond to others’ “smiling” behavior during play? A. It makes a surprise attack. B. It smiles back part of the time. C. It stops the game at once. D. It swims away to leave their sight. 14. What was Heather Hill’s attitude towards the research findings? A. Doubtful. B. Supportive. C. Unclear. D. Upset. 15. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage? A. Dolphin’s “Smile”: A Misunderstanding by Humans B. The Role of Smiling in the Social Lives of Dolphins C. A week into trying out the same tool himself, Stymiest was won over. 【答案】8. C 9. A 10. B 11. A It makes a surprise attack. Wild Dolphins vs. Captive Dolphins: Differences in Facial Expressions D. A New Study on Bottlenose Dolphins’ Open-mouthed Expression in Play 【答案】12. B 13. B 14. A 15.
