This year I booked a tour to the farrow islands, and our guy gave us some facts before the visit. The faro islands are located in the north atlantic ocean, about halfway between norway and iceland, although their nearest neighbour is in fact scotland. For many years, there's been an airport on the main island and a helicopter service between the islands. These days, there are road tunnels to connect several islands. You definitely don't go to the farrow islands for sunshine. IT rains over two hundred and sixty days a year. On our thursday, we were meant to go on a boat trip to spot sea birds, but the wind was too strong, making this impossible. Instead, we went to another island and walked to a lights for incredible views. While we were walking along the narrow paths, our guy told us that in twenty nineteen, the island was shut to tourists for a few days because volunteers helped to repair paths and put up signs to mark roots, and many of them stayed with local people in their homes. If you were standing outside the Louvre in Paris on the morning of August 21, 1911, you might have noticed three men hurrying out of the museum. They seemed very tired, because they’d just spent the night in an art-supply container. And on that morning, with the Louvre still closed, they slipped out of their hiding place and lifted the painting, the Mona Lisa off the wall and headed to the Quai d’Orsay Station, where they boarded a 07:47 express train out of the city.
Twenty-eight hours passed when an artist, who felt he couldn’t work if the Mona Lisa wasn’t there, noticed the absence of the painting. But the artist wasn’t alarmed. At that time, there was a project under way to photograph the Louvre’s many works. Each piece had to be taken to the roof, since cameras did not work well inside in those days. So he persuaded a guard to check how long the photographers were going to have the painting. The guard came back and said, “The photographers say they don’t have it!”
After the Louvre announced the theft, newspapers all over the world ran headlines about the missing painting and it became an incredibly famous painting—literally overnight. Although critics began to consider the Mona Lisa, which was completed in 1507, as one of Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpieces in the 1860s, it wasn’t even the most famous painting in its gallery, let alone in the Louvre.
The thieves turned out to be three Italians: two brothers, Vincenzo and Michele Lancelotti, and a handyman, Vincenzo Perugia, who had worked for the Louvre. They hoped to sell the painting. But the painting had received so much attention that it became too hot to hock. So they hid it in their Paris boardinghouse.
Twenty-eight months later, they finally decided to sell it to an art dealer in Florence, Italy. But the dealer reported to the police and they ended up in prison for eight months.
24.Why was the artist undisturbed when he found the painting missing?
A.He had already read about the theft. B.He knew it was moved to another gallery.
C.He didn’t like the painting very much. D.He thought it was with the photographers.
25.What can be learned about the Mona Lisa?
A.It was completed in the 1860s. B.It became a really hot painting in 1911.
C.It was an immediate success. D.It had many original copies in the Louvre.
26.Which best explains the underlined phrase “too hot to hock” in paragraph 4?
A.Too silly to steal. B.Too early to return.
C.Too famous to sell. D.Too expensive to buy.
27.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.The Theft That Made the Mona Lisa Well-known
B.Three Italians Succeeded in Stealing Famous Paintings
C.An Art Lover Couldn’t Work Until He Saw the Mona Lisa
D.Leonardo da Vinci Was Ignored by Critics for a Long Time
【答案】24.D 25.B 26.C 27.A
根据第二段中的“At that time, there was a project under way to photograph the Louvre’s many works. Each piece had to be taken to the roof, since cameras did not work well inside in those days. So he persuaded a guard to check how long the photographers were going to have the painting.(当时,卢浮宫正在进行一个拍摄馆内众多作品的项目。由于那时相机在室内拍摄效果不好,每一件作品都得被拿到屋顶去拍。于是他说服一名警卫去问问摄影师要把这幅画留多久)”可知,艺术家发现画作不见时并不惊慌,因为他以为画作被摄影师拿去拍摄了。故选D项。
25.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“After the Louvre announced the theft, newspapers all over the world ran headlines about the missing painting and it became an incredibly famous painting—literally overnight.(卢浮宫宣布画作失窃后,世界各地的报纸都刊登了这幅失踪画作的头条新闻,它几乎在一夜之间成了一幅极有名的画作)”可知,1911年《蒙娜丽莎》失窃后迅速走红,成为热门画作。故选B项。
根据第四段中的“They hoped to sell the painting. But the painting had received so much attention that it became too hot to hock. So they hid it in their Paris boardinghouse.(他们希望卖掉这幅画。但这幅画受到了太多关注,以至于变得too hot to hock。于是他们把它藏在了巴黎的寄宿公寓里)”可知,小偷本想卖掉画作,但因画作关注度太高,根本无法卖出,too hot to hock在此处表示“太有名而无法出售”。故选C项。
27.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第三段中的“After the Louvre announced the theft, newspapers all over the world ran headlines about the missing painting and it became an incredibly famous painting—literally overnight.(卢浮宫宣布画作失窃后,世界各地的报纸都刊登了这幅失踪画作的头条新闻,它几乎在一夜之间成了一幅极有名的画作)”可知,文章主要讲述了1911年的失窃事件让《蒙娜丽莎》一举成名的故事。 故选A项。

One quiet afternoon in France in her studio, wood crafting (木工技艺) artist Hua Yong found herself watching water boil. Without thinking, she reached for her phone and refreshed the screen. At that very moment, she realized how much modern life is consumed by speed. “We are completely swept up by the fast pace of life,” she said. “It’s becoming harder to find time to unwind among the everyday chaos of life.”
Hua Yong, the 2024 receiver of the Hand of Wisdom prize, a Sino-French crafts exchange program, spent two months in Paris last year, a rare stretch of uninterrupted time that allowed her to reflect on the act of creation. She began experimenting with simple geometric (几何的) forms, repeating them to create visual effects that seemed to go beyond time and space. “I thought about how to create something new from nothing, and used the highest standards of traditional Chinese craftsmanship to bring these ideas to life,” she said.
“Wood crafting requires the investment of time,” she noted. Her exhibition Changing the World in Silence at Yishu 8, an art platform in Beijing, marked the highlight of a year’s reflection. Running through mid-June, the show featured 25 pieces, 11 of which were created after her Paris residency. Among the works was a vortex-like (漩涡状的) table, which drew the viewer’s mind into a different dimension. “We hope all the crafts here quietly accompany the viewers, bringing a brief mental escape and a moment of relaxation,” described Hua.
“The changes in her work’s form between movement and stillness are projections of conceptual unrest,” said Su Dan, the artistic director of Hand of Wisdom, observing Hua’s shift since her return. “She has long engaged with Chinese traditional materials and been constantly thinking. Works created in such a state of reflection become models of design philosophy: They are short-lived, yet everlasting.”
28.Why did Hua Yong reach for her phone in Paragraph 1?
A.She felt like taking a photo.
B.She tried to have a rest among chaos.
C.She intended to make a call.
D.She had formed the habitual behavior.
29.What change did Hua Yong make after her Sino-French crafts exchange program?
A.She integrated Sino-French wood crafts.
B.She applied geometric shapes creatively.
C.She shifted to rare and simple materials.
D.She adopted digital techniques flexibly.
30.What do we know about the works in Changing the World in Silence?
A.They relied hardly on handwork.
B.They mirrored the rush of modern life.
C.They featured mental relaxation.
D.They were well-appreciated by viewers.
31.What does Su Dan imply about Hua Yong?
A.She underwent life unrest in Paris.
B.She deserted wood craft traditions.
C.Her works turn out the best models.
D.Her works convey a consistent idea.

Spanish scientist Pilar Bosch has found a way to use bacteria (细菌) to repair 18th-century paintings. Bosch, a microbiologist, tells Reuters she got the idea for the method while considering possibilities for a paper toward her doctoral degree. During this process, she discovered someone else’s paper that suggested bacteria can be used to restore (修复) artworks.
At around the same time, Bosch learned that her mother was struggling to find a good method for repairing 18th-century paintings in the church. Bosch said her mother, Pilar Roig, noted how difficult the restoration process was. One reason was the glue (胶水) used to attach paintings to walls in the 1960s. It was nearly impossible to remove the glue completely. “My mother had a very difficult problem to solve and I found a paper about bacteria used to clean frescoes (壁画) in Italy,” Bosch said.
Bosch added she decided to write her doctoral paper on the same subject. That was more than ten years ago. Today, she gets to work with her mother on the church paintings’ restoration. They are using the bacteria method to remove glue from artworks. The money of the $4.46 million project is given by local organizations. The process involves feeding small amounts of the glue — made from animal collagen (胶原) — to the bacteria. After a time, the bacteria begin to naturally produce enzymes (酶) to break down the glue. The mother-daughter team then mixes the bacteria with a natural algae-based substance, called a gel (凝胶), and places it onto the paintings. After about three hours, the gel mixture is removed, leaving the paintings glue-free.
Bosch’s mother, now 75, noted that in the past, restorers of artworks had to use traditional cleaning methods that took hours and damaged the paintings. Bosch has also used her bacteria method process in other restoration projects in Italy and Spain.
32.What made Pilar Bosch come up with the idea of restoring artworks with bacteria?
A.A paper she had read. B.The inspiration from her mother.
C.Her desire to help her mother. D.Her role as a microbiologist.
33.What challenge did Bosch’s mother face in restoring the paintings in the church?
A.No financial support. B.Removal of the glue on paintings.
C.The lack of traditional cleaning methods. D.Damage to the paintings caused by the weather.
34.What does Paragraph 3 focus on?
A.The mother-daughter team’s contribution to the church restoration.
B.The materials used for cleaning the paintings.
C.The money used for the paintings’ restoration work.
D.The working mechanism of the bacteria-based restoration method.
35.How does Bosch’s mother feel about restoring artworks with bacteria?
A.It is fairly convenient. B.It is environmental-friendly.
C.It is efficient and time-saving. D.It is worthy of wide promotion.

根据第一段“Bosch, a microbiologist, tells Reuters she got the idea for the method while considering possibilities for a paper toward her doctoral degree. During this process, she discovered someone else’s paper that suggested bacteria can be used to restore (修复) artworks.(Bosch是一位微生物学家,她向路透社讲述了自己发明这一方法的初衷。当时她在准备撰写一篇与博士论文相关的论文,于是在思考各种可能性的过程中,她想到了这个办法。在此过程中,她发现了一篇他人的论文,该论文表明细菌可以用于修复艺术品)”可知,Pilar Bosch读过的一篇论文让她萌生了用细菌修复艺术品的想法。故选A。
根据第二段“One reason was the glue (胶水) used to attach paintings to walls in the 1960s. It was nearly impossible to remove the glue completely.(其中一个原因在于 20 世纪 60 年代用于将画作粘贴在墙上的胶水。这种胶水几乎无法完全清除)”可知,Bosch的母亲在修复教堂里的画作时遇到的挑战是画作上胶水的去除问题。故选B。
34.主旨大意题。根据第三段“Bosch added she decided to write her doctoral paper on the same subject. After about three hours, the gel mixture is removed, leaving the paintings glue-free.(Bosch补充说,她决定以同样的主题撰写她的博士论文。
根据最后一段“Bosch’s mother, now 75, noted that in the past, restorers of artworks had to use traditional cleaning methods that took hours and damaged the paintings.(Bosch的母亲现年75岁,她指出,在过去,艺术品修复师不得不采用传统的清洁方法,这种方法耗时很长,还会损坏画作)”可知,Bosch的母亲认为与传统的清洁方法相比,用细菌修复艺术品是高效省时的。故选C。

At first glance, it seems to be Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer’s masterpiece Girl with a Pearl Earring. 36 Wearing two glowing earrings, there’s a slightly inhuman shade of red on the girl’s face.
Look strange? 37 Chosen from 3,482 submitted images based on the Vermeer masterpiece, the Al-generated work was displayed at the Mauritshuis Museum in the Netherlands in March. The designer looked on the experience of literally replacing the famous painting by one of his AI images crazy and completely surreal.
38 Though Mauritshuis press officer Boris de Munnick insisted that it was a nice picture and a creative process, many people questioned whether it could be called art and if it was qualified to be shown in the museum gallery. 39 It was regarded as a disrespect for the masterpiece of Vermeer and also for any working artist.
In fact, this is not the first time that people have debated AI’s role in creativity. 40 But the technology has now become widely available for regular everyday use and the practice of using AI image generators to make art has become more common.
A.Coming from a museum, it’s really embarrassing.
B.However, the AI image raised a fierce argument.
C.But look more closely and you may find something different about it.
D.One common concern is whether AI-generated works break copyright laws.
E.Dutch artist Iris Compiet described the image on display as unoriginal.

56.the 57.measuring 58.composition 59.to catch 60.are hurrying 61.are 62.whose 63.what 64.to 65.valuable
空格后“capital of the Song Dynasty” (宋朝的都城)是对“Bianjing(汴京)”的同位语,需用定冠词the修饰。故填the。
故填to catch。
且主语travelers为复数,be动词为are。故填are hurrying。
故填are。
故填what。
serve as a window to...“作为通往……的窗口”。故填to。

The art classroom was full of creative energy as students worked on their drawings. Mrs. Carter had just finished explaining how to use colors effectively. Most students were already drawing simple shapes and adding bright colors, but Liam sat frozen before his empty paper, his pencil shaking slightly in his hand. The blank page seemed to stare back at him, daring him to make the first mark.
Noticing his struggle, Mrs. Carter approached. “Having trouble getting started?” she asked in a gentle voice. Liam’s shoulders tensed immediately. “I... I don’t know what to draw,” he admitted, keeping his eyes fixed on the floor. The critical words of his previous art teacher — “messy” and “careless” — ran through his mind, making his stomach tighten with worry.
Mrs. Carter smiled warmly. “Remember, art isn’t about being perfect,” she said gently, placing a comforting hand on his back. “It’s about expressing what you feel inside. Why not give it a try?” With a deep breath, Liam finally made his first marks on the paper.
Yet whenever Mrs. Carter walked by, Liam quickly covered his drawing with his arm. His face turned red when classmates tried to look. “May I see your progress?” Mrs. Carter asked encouragingly during her rounds. Liam shook his head violently, his lips trembling. “It’s... not good enough,” he whispered, tears welling up.
Kneeling beside him, Mrs. Carter spoke softly but firmly. “In art, there’s no such thing as ‘not good enough’. What makes it special is that it comes from you.” Slowly, Liam moved his arm to reveal a drawing: a dog with uneven ears, surrounded by cheerful yellow stars. “Look at these wonderful colors!” Mrs. Carter exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. “Look how you’ve used shading here, and this dog has such personality! I can’t wait to see what else you’ll create — especially for our school’s art contest next month.”

Inspired by Mrs. Carter’s encouragement, Liam began drawing with a new goal. He wanted to create something worthy of the school art contest. Every afternoon, he would sit by the classroom window, carefully practicing. At first, he erased until the paper tore, but slowly, his shaky lines became confident curves. When frustration built up, he would hear Mrs. Carter’s voice in his head: “Art isn’t about being perfect.” This always made him take a deep breath and try once more. After weeks of observation, he knew exactly what to draw for the contest: the sunset turning the swings into golden outlines.
At the award ceremony of the art contest, Liam choked up. He couldn’t believe his ears when the headmaster announced, “First prize goes to Liam for his lively and imaginative artwork!” Overwhelmed, he walked to the stage, holding tightly to his certificate. In the crowd, Mrs. Carter grinned with pride, giving him a thumbs-up. From that day on, Liam no longer hid his drawings. He eagerly shared his artwork with classmates, even helping others blend colors. The contest wasn’t just about winning — it taught him that bravery and creativity go hand in hand. By embracing his passion, Liam discovered that true art comes from the heart, not from others’ opinions.

F.It’s actually an image made by Berlin-based designer Julian Dieken using artificial intelligence.
G.The emergence of such AI works is believed by many to weaken the enthusiasm of artists with creative skills.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
Inspired by Mrs. Carter’s encouragement, Liam began drawing with a new goal.

F.It’s actually an image made by Berlin-based designer Julian Dieken using artificial intelligence.
G.The emergence of such AI works is believed by many to weaken the enthusiasm of artists with creative skills.
