The innovative lesson focused on comparing classical Chinese poems by Li Bai with renowned English poems, utilizing multimedia tools to highlight the rhythmic beauty. Students actively participated in discussions about cultural differences and similarities. This cross-cultural educational experience not only deepened our understanding of poetic artistry but also demonstrated the power of interdisciplinary learning. Personally, the class broadened my perspective on how different cultures express universal human emotions and successfully bridged cultural divides. 第二节(满分25分) The student smiled and said something she still remembers until today. “You have a very powerful voice; I like it so much. It cheers me up and gives me strength.” he said in a sincere tone. Vaughan’s face lit up. Before she could say thanks to the senior, he said goodbye and disappeared into the crowd. Vaughan felt confidence rising from inside her. She went from deciding she would never sing in front of people again as long as she lived to considering that maybe she could sing and yeah, believing she had a powerful voice. Inspired by the student’s confidence in her, Vaughan went on to study music. She’s now a professional singer-songwriter, performing almost every weekend in three bands throughout the country. She has found herself thinking more and more about her unsung hero. His small act of grace is a reminder that a few kind words can change the course of a life. “If he were standing right in front of me today, I would say, ‘Thank you so much,’” Vaughan said. “Thank you for giving me the passion for music and making it OK for me to pursue it. You really made a difference at a critical moment.” Are you coming to play chest during the lunch break? Ban, not today. mrs. Before joining Brearley School, I had heard of these events, but no description truly prepared me for how much they meant to students. From a young age, students watch older peers (同辈) lead these traditions and hope to do the same one day. Many seniors remember the moment they were inspired to take part in the activities. It might have been as a kindergartener, watching the Athletic Association leaders cheer, or as a Class IV student, receiving a class mascot (吉祥物) from Class XII after singing special songs. It could even have been as a Class VII student, listening to student leaders speak at the Opening of School Assembly. These experiences connect different grades and reflect the school’s values. Seniors do not act “too cool” during these times. Instead, they show respect and kindness, setting an example to younger students. Along with teachers, they help build a community where everyone cares for each other. Traditions serve our community in many ways. They give students something to look forward to and connect them with past generations of Brearley graduates. They also shape our culture and help us live out our values. This was clear on Mountain Day as I walked by the lake with two seniors who had joined me on past hikes. We talked about the supportive classmates, books we had read, and how nice it was to step away from our desks and enjoy nature. I pointed out younger students walking ahead of us and said, “They remind me at their age-bright-eyed and wanting to be near older students.” We laughed. And that’s the power of traditions. 24.What does the underlined word “they” in paragraph 1 refer to? A.Events. B.Rules. C.Classes. D.Pioneers. 25.What do seniors do during the school activities? A.They set new rules for all students. B.They outperform younger students. C.They overlook teachers’ warnings. D.They build a caring environment. 26.What does the author want to highlight in paragraph 3? A.Shared values of the school. B.Heartfelt wishes of the students. C.The role of the school’s traditions. D.The meaning of friendship. 27.What can we infer about the author? A.He is a sharp-eyed college student. B.He has a deep love for his school. C.He dreams of becoming a teacher. D.He is against the two seniors’ words. 根据画线词前“Before joining Brearley School, I had heard of these events(在进入布里尔利学校之前,我就已经听说过这些活动了)”可知,此处代词they指代学校举办的各种活动。故选A。 25. 根据第二段“Instead, they show respect and kindness, setting an example to younger students. Along with teachers, they help build a community where everyone cares for each other.(相反,他们展现出尊重与友善的态度,为年轻学生们树立了榜样。他们与教师们一起,共同构建了一个大家相互关爱的社区)”可知,高年级学生在活动中营造了一个充满关爱的校园环境。故选D。 26.推理判断题。根据第三段“Traditions serve our community in many ways. They give students something to look forward to and connect them with past generations of Brearley graduates. They also shape our culture and help us live out our values.(传统在许多方面为我们的社区做出了贡献。它们为学生们提供了期待的目标,并让他们与布里尔利学校的前辈们建立起联系。此外,传统还塑造了我们的文化,并帮助我们践行我们的价值观)”可知,作者在本段旨在凸显学校传统的作用。故选C。 27.推理判断题。根据第一段“Before joining Brearley School, I had heard of these events, but no description truly prepared me for how much they meant to students.(在进入布里尔利学校之前,我曾听说过这些事情,但任何描述都无法真正让我理解这些事件对学生来说意味着什么程度的重要性)”以及最后一段“This was clear on Mountain Day as I walked by the lake with two seniors who had joined me on past hikes. We talked about the supportive classmates, books we had read, and how nice it was to step away from our desks and enjoy nature. I pointed out younger students walking ahead of us and said, “They remind me at their age-bright-eyed and wanting to be near older students.” We laughed. B。 C I haven’t met a poetry-lover under thirty who was not an introvert, or an introvert who was not unhappy in adolescence. At school, particularly, maybe, if, as in my own case, it is a boarding school, he sees the outgoing classmates successful and happy, and himself unpopular or neglected; and what is hardest to bear is not unpopularity, but the consciousness that it is deserved, that he is inferior and dull. Knowing no other society, he imagines that he is doomed to failure. It is not till he grows up, till years later he meets the heroes of his school days and finds them grown commonplace and ordinary, that he realizes the introvert is the lucky one. The introvert can best adapt to an industrial civilization where collective values are so childish that he who has learned how to draw upon the resources of his inner life can be the winners of life. At the time, however, his adolescence is unpleasant enough. Unable to imagine a society where he would feel at home, he turns away from the human to the nonhuman, and the growing life within him will express itself in a devotion to music and thoughts. Art for him will be precious and pessimistic. If it speaks of love it must be love frustrated, for all success seems to him noisy and vulgar, for the world he knows will not change. Deep as first love and wild with all regret, O death in life, the days that are no more. Now more than ever seems it sweet to die, To cease upon the midnight with no pain. That to the adolescent is the authentic poetic note and whoever is the first in his life to strike it, awakens a passion of imitation and an affectation that cannot be destroyed. In my own case the poet was Hardy; for more than a year I read no one else. I smuggled (偷渡) them into  class, carried them about on Sunday walks, and took them up to the dormitory, though they were too heavy to be read in bed with comfort. He looked like my father: that broad moustache, bald forehead, and deeply lined face that belonged to that other world of feeling. Here was a writer whose emotions, if sometimes boring in expression, would be deeper and more faithful than my own, and whose attachment to the earth would be more secure and obvious. Adapted from an article written by W. H. Auden 28.According to the author, poetry lovers under thirty generally _______. A.have a strong sense of their inferiority during school years B.are always products of boarding schools they attended C.are very jealous of those who are popular and outgoing D.are constantly longing to return to their early childhood 29.The author regards the introverted adolescent as ultimately lucky because he has _______. A.become financially successful in an industrialized society B.developed inner resources that he will need in modern society C.a better general education than those who were outgoing in school D.learned to appreciate and draw inspirations from nature 30.The poem quoted is most likely included as _______. A.a part from the author’s own poetic collections B.an example of poetry attractive to unhappy teenagers C.the type of poetry much admired by all poetry lovers D.an example of typical poetry written by schoolboys 31.It can be inferred that, for the author, the poetry of Hardy is _______. A.something with which he is not very satisfied B.an interest soon replaced by other poetry C.a secret obsession that he is unwilling to admit D.his first poetic love that he cherished with all his heart 【答案】28.A 29.B 30.B 31.D 【导语】本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。 根据第一段中“I haven’t met a poetry-lover under thirty who was not an introvert, or an introvert who was not unhappy in adolescence. At school, particularly, maybe, if, as in my own case, it is a boarding school, he sees the outgoing classmates successful and happy, and himself unpopular or neglected; and what is hardest to bear is not unpopularity, but the consciousness that it is deserved, that he is inferior and dull.(我从未见过哪个三十岁以下的诗歌爱好者不是内向之人,也从未见过哪个内向之人在青春期中不曾郁郁寡欢。尤其在校园里——若如我当年那般身处寄宿学校——他眼见着外向的同窗意气风发,自己却寂寂无闻;最刺骨的并非被冷落本身,而是清醒地意识到这种冷落理所应当,承认自己平庸乏味)”可知,根据作者的说法,30岁以下的诗歌爱好者通常在学校期间有强烈的自卑感。故选A项。 29. 根据第二段中“The introvert can best adapt to an industrial civilization where collective values are so childish that he who has learned how to draw upon the resources of his inner life can be the winners of life.(内向者恰恰最能适应工业文明——在这种文明形态中,集体价值观已肤浅到如此地步,以至于懂得汲取内心世界养分之人,反而能成为人生的赢家)”可推知,作者认为内向的青少年最终是幸运的,因为他已经发展出了在现代社会中需要的内心世界养分。故选B项。 30. 根据第三段中“Art for him will be precious and pessimistic. If it speaks of love it must be love frustrated, for all success seems to him noisy and vulgar, for the world he knows will not change.(艺术对他来说是珍贵而悲观的。如果它说的是爱情,那一定是受挫的爱情,因为在他看来,所有的成功都是喧闹和庸俗的,因为他知道这个世界不会改变)”、下文的诗歌“Deep as first love and wild with all regret, O death in life, the days that are no more. Now more than ever seems it sweet to die, To cease upon the midnight with no pain.(像初恋一样深沉,带着所有的遗憾狂野,哦,生中的死,不再有的日子。现在比以往任何时候都更觉得死亡是甜蜜的,在午夜毫无痛苦地停止呼吸)”和倒数第二段中“That to the adolescent is the authentic poetic note and whoever is the first in his life to strike it, awakens a passion of imitation and an affectation that cannot be destroyed.(对于青少年来说,这是真正的诗意音符,无论谁在人生中第一次敲响它,都会激起一种模仿的热情和一种无法摧毁的矫饰)”可知,作者引用诗歌是为了说明内向不快乐的青少年会被什么样的诗歌吸引,故这首诗很可能是作为吸引不快乐青少年的诗歌例子而包括在内的。故选B项。 31. 根据倒数第二段中“In my own case the poet was Hardy; for more than a year I read no one else. I smuggled (偷渡) them into class, carried them about on Sunday walks, and took them up to the dormitory, though they were too heavy to be read in bed with comfort.(就我自己而言,那位诗人是哈代;一年多来,我没有读过其他人的作品。我把它们偷运到教室里,在周日散步时带着它们,把它们带到宿舍里,尽管它们太重了,无法舒服地在床上阅读)”和最后一段中“Here was a writer whose emotions, if sometimes boring in expression, would be deeper and more faithful than my own, and whose attachment to the earth would be more secure and obvious.(这是一位情感表达有时虽然枯燥,但比我自己更深刻、更忠实的作家,他对大地的依恋会更加安全和明显)”可推知,对于作者来说,哈代的诗是他第一个珍视的诗歌挚爱。故选D项。 D Fanjia Primary School offers a special education that focuses on students’ personal growth, not just their academic scores. Located in a village in Sichuan, the school combines traditional learning with nature-based activities, creating a unique learning environment. Originally, it mainly served local rural children, but its innovative approach has now attracted families from across the country. This approach has drawn families from China’s big cities who are escaping the fierce academic competition. A mother from Nanjing, Zheng Min, moved her son out of a top public school because he was stressed and losing interest in learning. The strict rules and heavy homework burden in the city had dampened his enthusiasm. Similarly, a father from Beijing, Wu Wei, transferred his son to seek a more natural and relaxed growing environment, as his son had become anxious under strict management where he wasn’t even allowed to play during breaks. Principal Zhang Pingyuan supports a student-centered philosophy. The school does not rank students by grades; instead, it encourages personal development. When a student makes a mistake, teachers use a five-step conversation method to understand their thoughts and guide them, rather than punishing them. This approach helps students feel supported and valued. The curriculum often takes place outdoors, with students connecting to nature through activities like exploring caves and observing plants, turning their world into a vast classroom. These changes have led to significant positive results. Zheng’s son now looks forward to school, enjoying his learning experience even though his grades haven’t improved dramatically. Wu’s son has become more outgoing and even confidently talks with the principal. Parents observe that their children are growing not just academically, but also socially and emotionally, building stronger relationships with teachers and classmates. The school’s success has gained official recognition. It moved away from relying only on exam scores, adopting a broader system to evaluate student progress, including reading and labor habits. Fanjia Primary’s innovative model recently won a major provincial award. The school is now planning to expand, adding new facilities and introducing middle school education to meet the growing demand and share its successful experience. 32.What is the main purpose of the passage? A.To criticize the pressure of urban education. B.To introduce a school’s successful educational method. C.To argue for the education in rural schools. D.To compare the different lives of urban and rural children. 33.What did parents think was wrong with their children’s previous schools? A.The management of students was overly strict. B.The academic challenges were not sufficient. C.The extracurricular activities were not diverse. D.The teacher-student ratio was too low. 34.What can be inferred about the five-step conversation method? A.It is more effective than punishment. B.It helps build a positive teacher-student relationship. C.It is a complicated method for solving behavior problems. D.It is based on modern educational theories. 35.What does the school’s plan to expand indicate? A.Its educational philosophy has gained wide acceptance. B.Rural education is becoming a new trend. C.It needs more space for nature activities. D.The government is providing more support for the school. 【答案】32.B 33.A 34.B 35.A 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。 通读全文,尤其是第一段中的“Fanjia Primary School offers a special education that focuses on students’ personal growth, not just their academic scores. We’re living in a world where everything becomes so fast-paced that it’s hard to focus on anything for long. 37 It allows us to start and finish something of value within life’s small windows of time - whether we’re waiting for the bus with our child, or seeking a meaningful thought to share at the dinner table. It can be spoken over our audience, or used to start a deeper discussion. Similar to the way in which poetry reveals hidden, yet familiar truths, it can also reveal hidden yet familiar beauty. When a poet uses beautiful language to describe elements of beauty within our world, we may feel shocked. 38 Only then will we realize that we have never fully appreciated the things around us. We begin to learn the art of treasuring what we have. 39 By thoughtfully engaging with poetry, we step into the perspectives of others. In the process, we will sharpen our awareness, deepen our empathy (同理心), and actively expand our emotional intelligence. To pass down the power of poetry to the next generation, it’s best to develop a love and appreciation for it in our children from an early age. 40 This practice offers an opportunity to create a bonding experience and lasting memories. A.A short poem is a gift for us. B.Poems can inspire us in a number of ways. C.In this way, poetry helps us understand the world better. D.Poetry fuels our curiosity and unlocks further exploration. E.It involves spending plenty of time reading poems together. F.Poetry gives voice to our shared human emotions and experiences. G.Suddenly we become aware of the beauty so close yet unseen before. 【答案】36.C 37.A 38.G 39.F 40.E 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章以贺拉斯的观点为引,论述了诗歌的价值,探讨了诗歌如何以简驭繁、揭示美、促进共情,并建议通过亲子共读将诗歌传递给下一代。 36.上文“A poet will take insights into our world covered in fog and cut through that fog to reveal the truth beneath in their poetry. The first concert of the school year was to be a performance of songs from the musical Oliver and Vaughan landed a solo. She wasn’t nervous until the week before, when she discovered that the entire school would be in attendance. On the day of the show, Vaughan was backstage, looking through the curtains to find the hall was filled with people. Everyone filed in: All the classes, upperclassmen and younger students. Also attended were janitors (看门人), lunch ladies and parents. It was just packed. The curtain opened and the choir began to sing. Vaughan looked out at the faces in the crowd and noticed that some of their eyes were filled with disinterest. Then she noticed something else: a single microphone standing at the front of the stage, lit by a bright spotlight, ready for her solo. It was a problem she hadn’t anticipated: their choir teacher had never taught them how to sing into a microphone. And yet it was Vaughan’s turn to sing. The teacher motioned for her to go up in front of the stage and so she walked right up in front of that microphone. Despite her uncertainty, her solo began smoothly. She felt excited, singing so confidently in front of everyone. Then she got to the big finale—the last high note. With her lips nearly touching the microphone, the note came exploding out of the speakers, ear-piercing and deafeningly loud. She looked out at the audience and every single person—involuntarily, their heads snapped back in their chairs. Some of them had their jaws dropped wide open. Vaughan wanted the stage to open up and swallow her whole. The school day was only half over by the time the concert ended, so Vaughan had to go back to class. Walking along the hallway, her eyes downcast, she spotted a pair of large athletic shoes. She stopped and she looked up into the face of the new guy. He was a senior. And she had never met him, but she was just preparing herself for the embarrassment of what he was about to say. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 The student smiled and said something she still remembers until today. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Inspired by the student’s confidence in her, Vaughan went on to study music. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 The student smiled and said something she still remembers until today. You really made a difference at a critical moment.” 3. 词汇激活     行为类     ①使某人振作起来:cheer sb. up/ lift one’s spirits ② 消失:disappear/ vanish ③ 决定:decide/ determine 情绪类     ①面露喜色:one’s face lit up/ one’s face brightened     ②重拾信心:felt confidence rising/ regained confidence 【点睛】【高分句型1】She’s now a professional singer-songwriter, performing almost every weekend in three bands throughout the country.(运用了现在分词短语“performing almost every weekend in three bands throughout the country”作状语) 【高分句型2】His small act of grace is a reminder that a few kind words can change the course of a life.(运用了that引导的同位语从句) 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司1 / 23 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $………………○………………外………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… ………………○………………内………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… 此卷只装订不密封 ………………○………………内………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… ………………○………………外………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… … 学校:______________姓名:_____________班级:_______________考号:______________________ Unit 5 Poems单元自测·提升卷 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.What will Ben do at lunchtime? B It is mid-October, and some of our most important traditions are behind us: the Opening of School Assembly, Homecoming, and Mountain Day. C I haven’t met a poetry-lover under thirty who was not an introvert, or an introvert who was not unhappy in adolescence. A.something with which he is not very satisfied B.an interest soon replaced by other poetry C.a secret obsession that he is unwilling to admit D.his first poetic love that he cherished with all his heart D Fanjia Primary School offers a special education that focuses on students’ personal growth, not just their academic scores. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Horace, the famous Roman poet who lived from 65 BC to 8 BC, once said, “The poet’s aim is to combine the delightful and the useful.” A poet will take insights into our world covered in fog and cut through that fog to reveal the truth beneath in their poetry. 36 Poetry is rich in wisdom and knowledge, yet it is often remarkably brief in form. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Students at Southwood High in Shreveport, Louisiana were not solving their differences peacefully. B It is mid-October, and some of our most important traditions are behind us: the Opening of School Assembly, Homecoming, and Mountain Day. C I haven’t met a poetry-lover under thirty who was not an introvert, or an introvert who was not unhappy in adolescence.
