Fairy Tale Summaries
Cinderella
Once upon a time, there was a kind girl named Cinderella. Her mother died, and her father married a woman with two daughters. The stepmother and stepsisters were very mean to Cinderella and made her do all the housework. One day, the king invited all the young ladies to a ball so the prince could choose a wife. Cinderella wanted to go, but her stepmother said she couldn't. A fairy godmother appeared and used magic to give Cinderella a beautiful dress and glass slippers. She went to the ball and danced with the prince, but she had to leave by midnight. As she ran away, she lost one glass slipper. The prince found it and searched for the girl whose foot fit the slipper. He found Cinderella, and they got married and lived happily ever after.
The Three Little Pigs
Once upon a time, three little pigs decided to build their own houses. The first pig built his house with straw because it was easy. The second pig built his house with sticks because it was a little stronger. The third pig built his house with bricks because it was the strongest. A big bad wolf came and blew down the straw house and the stick house. The pigs ran to the brick house. The wolf tried to blow down the brick house, but he couldn't. Then he tried to come down the chimney, but the third pig put a pot of boiling water in the fireplace. The wolf fell into the pot and ran away. The three little pigs lived safely in the brick house ever after.
The Ugly Duckling
A mother duck's eggs hatched, and one of the ducklings was much larger and uglier than the others. The other animals made fun of him and called him the ugly duckling. He was very sad and left the farm. He had many difficult experiences during the winter. In the spring, he saw beautiful swans on a lake. He was afraid they would laugh at him too, but when he looked at his reflection in the water, he saw that he had grown into a beautiful swan. The other swans welcomed him, and he was finally happy.
