In March 2025, our school in Shantou became a low-carbon (低碳) model school. Two new green systems (系统) were put into use—rainwater reuse and rooftop solar power (屋顶太阳能). All students and teachers were excited about these changes, and also we learned how to live a greener life.
The rainwater reuse (再利用) system is amazing. It collects rain from the playground and building roofs. After cleaning the rainwater, the system uses it to water the school’s trees and flowers and even to wash toilets in our school. Our teacher told us this system saves about 5,000 cubic meters of water every year. We also have solar boards on the roof. They turn sunlight into electricity to light up our classrooms and power the computers. Now we use less electricity from the city.
To help us learn more, the school holds a “low-carbon class” every Friday. We talk about how to save water and electricity in daily life. We also keep a “green score”—if we remember to turn off lights or reuse water, we get points. Many students now take their own water bottles to school instead of buying plastic ones.
Our classmate Lily said, “These changes in 2025 make our school a better place. We not only save resources (资源) but also learn to protect the Earth. It’s easy and meaningful to live a low-carbon life.” We all feel proud that our school is doing its part for the environment.

69.What do students do in the “low-carbon class”?

C.Learn to save resources. D.Sell plastic bottles.
70.What’s the main idea of the passage?

B.The school’s 2025 green changes and their influences.
C.It’s about why we need to save water.

Imagine you could only feel good emotions (情感) like happiness, excitement, and peace. That might sound perfect, but it’s not realistic (现实的). Life is full of the unexpected. Everyone experiences all kinds of feelings, even the ones that are uncomfortable, like anger, fear, and sadness. It’s important to accept these feelings because they can actually help you feel better in the long run.
Notice uncomfortable feelings
When you understand that negative emotions are normal and won’t last forever, it’s easier to deal with them. According to experts, people who let themselves feel all their emotions are often more at peace than those who try to avoid or ignore (忽视) them. By noticing these uncomfortable feelings and letting them be, you’re being kind to yourself.
Stay away from bad behavior
Allowing yourself to feel uncomfortable emotions doesn’t mean you can throw things around or behave unkindly. Anita Garai, the writer of Being With Our Feelings, says that when we allow ourselves to feel emotions like anger, we’re less likely to lose control and do something we regret. “Uncomfortable feelings actually help us keep healthy,” she explains. By listening to these feelings, you can learn more about what you need and find out the best way to deal with them.
Learn to accept bad feelings
Garai suggests starting by finding out where the bad feeling is from. Ask yourself, “When and where do I feel it?” By paying attention to the feeling this way, it’s less likely that you’ll ignore it. Another helpful tip is to read stories about characters who face and overcome (克服) uncomfortable emotions.
71.The underlined word “negative” in the second paragraph means “________”.
A.cheerful B.bad or harmful C.worried D.deep and strong
72.What do experts say about feeling all your emotions?
A.It causes more sadness. B.It makes you angry all the time.
C.It helps you avoid bad feelings. D.It can bring you peace.
73.Which of the following opinions may Anita Garai agree with?
A.Feeling angry means you can do anything.
B.Ignoring your bad feelings is always the best choice.
C.Feeling bad emotions can stop you from acting badly.
D.You should hide your bad feelings to feel better.
74.Why does Garai suggest reading stories?
A.Because it helps us learn from others’ experiences.
B.Because it helps us forget our own problems.
C.Because it makes us feel happy all the time.
D.Because it helps us avoid bad feelings.
75.What is the best title for the passage?
A.Trying to be kind to yourself B.Accepting uncomfortable emotions
C.Experiencing changes in your life D.Learning more about what you need

Have you ever noticed a pretty flower or birds singing? And have you ever thought that nature can make us feel creative? In fact, nature is full of beauty and wonder. 86 Many artists and poets have found greatest inspiration(灵感) in the natural world.
William Wordsworth was a famous British poet. Many of his poems were inspired by the plants and animals. Wordsworth believed that nature could make people feel happy and peaceful. 87 His words help us see the beauty in simple things like a field of flowers or a bird’s song.
Robert Gillmor also gets his ideas from nature. He really liked birds. 88 He looked at their pretty colors and how they moved. Then he used those ideas to paint. Just like Wordsworth, Gillmor shows that nature can inspire artists.
89 Think about the colorful flowers in your garden, the cheerful birds, even the way leaves falling down in the wind. The colors, sounds, and smells of nature can give you lots of ideas for your own creations.
