A. Choose the best answer.(选择最恰当的答案。)(每题2分,共10分)
Three teens joined a magazine challenge: “Can you live without your electronic things for 2 weeks?” They said “yes”—they thought they didn’t use tech too much.
Name: Chloe
Age: 14
Before the challenge, I spent about 3 hours every day sending online messages to my friends on the Internet. I also looked up information for school projects online and played online games. So it’s been very hard for me to live without my laptop! It’s been one week since the challenge began. I haven’t taken care of my online horses for a week. But there are good things too: I’ve read two books already. I found the school library is a great place to look up information. And I’ve spent more time with my family!
Name: David
Age: 14
I wanted to show my parents that I could easily forget my iPod for two weeks. Well… it hasn’t been easy! I used to listen to music while doing everything: homework, playing football, studying, going to school… I listened to my favorite singers and bands. Now I can’t do that, because I can’t choose my favourite music on the radio or TV! I want to stop the challenge, but I haven’t called the magazine yet.
Name: Lucas
Age: 15
I’ve had a mobile phone for 7 years. I use it for many things: playing games, listening to music and radio, taking photos and making videos. I also talk to my friends, but I mostly send and get messages. Sending messages is much cheaper than calling them. The first week of the challenge was hard! But I just found a great way to finish it: I asked my friends to come to my house after school and on weekends. It’s been great. Now I know that being with my friends is much better than sending them messages!
23. How long did Chloe spend sending online messages daily before the challenge?
A. 1 hour. B. 3 hours. C. 5 hours. D. 2 hours.
24. David can't ________ after joining the magazine challenge.
A. play football B. go to school
C. listen to his favorite music D. do the homework
25. When did Lucas get his first mobile phone?
A. At 8 years old. B. At 11 years old. C. At 6 years old. D. At 12 years old.
26. Chloe feels ________ about living without her laptop.
A. very easy B. very hard C. a little boring D. a little fun
27. What does Lucas think is better than sending messages to friends?
A. Playing online games. B. Being with his friends.
C. Listening to music. D. Taking photos.
B. Choose the best answer and complete the passage.(选择最恰当的选项完成短文。)(每题2分,共10分)

Help with My Mommy®
Attention: Customer Service Manager
I am writing to ask for help with my Mommy®. I have had her for two years, and she isn’t working as well as she used to. During the first year, I was very happy with her. She always paid attention to me and met my ____28____ quickly without any problems. But in the last year, I noticed she started to ____29____.
For example, she used to come to me right away when I cried at night and let me stay with her until morning. Now, she just shouts, “Go back to sleep!” from her room. Also, my Mommy® doesn’t answer as fast during the day. In the past, if I cried, she would bring snacks, hugs, or funny faces to make me laugh. However, she doesn’t care for me at all now. It seems the unhappier I am, the ____30____ she cares.
The biggest problem is that she hates doing the same thing over and over. She’s good at making coffee at 7 a.m. and saying “BEDTIME” at 9 p.m., but she gets ____31____ of watching Baby Shark after a few times. But Baby Shark is such a great song!
I know some Mommies® aren’t working well these days ____32____ they can’t recharge (充电) fully. I have ideas to make her better, like not using phrases she says that I don’t like—“Just a minute,” “You need to wait,” or “Don’t eat that.”
I hope you can help me fix my Mommy® soon.
Sincerely,
Reese

Are tourists causing more harm than good?
Famous sites like Machu Picchu and Mount Kilimanjaro attract many tourists. However, do tourists bring more harm than good? Machu Picchu stands 2,350 metres above sea level, between two mountains. A new airport near the site will let more tourists visit directly. Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, a famous high mountain, will also get a new cable car to carry tourists up easily. These plans make some people happy, but others are worried.
YES:
Too many tourists are bad for famous sites like Machu Picchu and Mount Kilimanjaro. People leave lots of rubbish there, and planes or cars bring pollution. The noise and dirt also bother local people who live nearby. These places are special because they’re hard to reach.
—Lila 11
Machu Picchu is 2,350 metres high and the city was built for the Inca people in the mid-15th century. It can’t handle too many tourists. Their feet may damage the old buildings. Mount Kilimanjaro’s natural environment will also be hurt. We should protect these places, not let more people damage them.
—Omar, 12
No!
Tourists aren’t causing more harm. Famous places should be open to everyone. Disabled people, young kids, or those who can’t walk easily often can’t visit now. New projects like the airport near Machu Picchu and the cable car on Mount Kilimanjaro will change that.
—Sofia, 10
More tourists bring good things to the local area. They spend more money in restaurants, shops and hotels, which helps local people live better. Also, when people visit these historic places, they learn about them and care more about protecting them.
