Four Beautiful Beaches In Singapore
In Singapore, there are a range of special beaches where you can relax for a day. At these popular beaches, you’ll feel as if you're in paradise. Here are four of the best beaches there.
Tanjong Beach
The white-sandy beach is man-made and it’s the perfect place to relax in the sun, read a book away from the crowds, or go for a swim in the ocean. Especially, the Tanjong Beach Club is a top nightlife spot for drinking cocktails (鸡尾酒) and enjoying water sports like surfing.
Pulau Hantu
This island has a quiet beach far from busy tourist spots. The island consists of two small islands that join at low tide. There’s soft white sand and clear blue-green water here, teeming with colorful corals and marine life. People often camp overnight on the island, as it is only accessible by boat.
St. John's Island Beach
You can enjoy a quiet beach on St. John’s Island. This pretty place has a beach that’s great for sunbathing, swimming in clear water, and having picnics away from the city. Visitors can also spot unique marine life, go fishing, and even rent cabins or bungalows to stay on the island. Make sure to bring everything you need — there are no shops on the island.
Coney Island
Coney Island beach is the perfect place to relax away from the crowds. This hidden destination offers a couple of sandy spots to relax — whether you’re walking or cycling around Coney Island. It is definitely one of the best beaches to visit alone for a therapeutic (治愈的) experience.

If there’s one sound which represents everything there is to fall in love with on safari (观兽旅行), it’s the roar of a lion at nightfall. I heard it one evening in the Qwabi Private Game Reserve, where the Waterberg mountains spill outward like an unfolding story.
We’d just watched a remarkable standoff: lionesses baring teeth and muscle to a dominant male who’d wandered too close. The roars came first, then a sudden, striking charge. Paws (爪子) flew and their breath hung in the air over the grasslands, before the male eventually turned and dropped to the ground in frustration. It was pure theatre, to which we had front-row seats.
The Waterberg is a place of quiet success. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2001, this 654,000-hectare region in Limpopo Province is one of South Africa’s best-kept safari secrets. It’s a region where conservation feels like a lived value. Thanks to collaboration between private reserves, landowners and anti-poaching units, the region has recorded some of the lowest rhino (犀牛) poaching statistics in the country.
Head guide Damien Fourie was extensive in his knowledge and boyishly excited about every sight and sound. After careful tracking, we came across a group of lions resting beneath a thorn tree, their bodies exposed only by the swinging of a tail. And when we spotted a two-week-old white rhino walking unsteadily beside its mother later on the drive, he was as thrilled as we were.
Still, even if you see nothing but sky and silence, the Waterberg delivers. On our final morning, after a night of rain, I skipped the game drive in favor of a coffee on the deck. I watched the steam rise as the morning sun warmed the valley. The end of my time in the bush came with no distant lion roars, no whispering packs, no newborn rhino. Not every safari needs a drumroll ending. Sometimes, a slow, misty morning and a quiet deck tick all the boxes.
24.What did the author witness about the lions?
A.Their playful race. B.Their staged show.
C.Their fierce conflict. D.Their hunting attempt.
25.What do the underlined words “a lived value” in paragraph 3 mean?
A.A key concept. B.A public image.
C.An ignored idea. D.An active practice.
26.Which of the following best describes Damien?
A.Calm and distant. B.Informed and passionate.
C.Energetic and creative. D.Disciplined and ambitious.
27.What does the author think of the safari?
A.It displayed racial harmony.
B.It had a disappointing ending.
C.It revealed why she loved nature.
D.It satisfied what she could hope for.
C
“Going on holiday with blind people opens your eyes,” says Wendy Coley. She often goes on tours with Travel Eyes, a company that takes tourists traveling around the world. For each tour, half of the people can see and half can’t. A person who can see travels with a person who can’t. The world is there for sighted (有视力的) people but that can cause problems for the blind. So, sighted members might describe the size and color of a building, or the smiles of strangers passing by. They might explain the food, “Our lunch is a sandwich in the center of your plate, and chips in a bowl to the right of your plate.”
Clearly, it is good for blind travelers. They are able to learn about new places and make new friends. “You don’t worry about danger any more. That’s really important,” says Jenny Tween, a blind tourist. But it is also of benefit to sighted travelers. Wendy is one of them. She says that when you describe what you see, you see things in a very different way. The tour manager Hannah Vince agrees, “Sighted people learn a lot from these trips. It’s a two-way thing.” Traveling with blind people and describing the world to them makes sighted people go more slowly and look more closely at colors, shapes, and the sizes of things. Blind people can also help sighted people find more about the smells of food or flowers, and the sounds of music or traffic.
In the end, this isn’t a story about people who can see helping people who can’t. It’s about people with different abilities showing each other new ways of experiencing the world and meeting new friends.
28.What do we know about tours with Travel Eyes?
A.Most of the tourists are blind people. B.They are organized by Wendy Coley.
C.A blind person travels with a sighted person. D.Blind people join in the tours at half the price.
29.What does the underlined word “They” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A.Tourists. B.Strangers. C.Blind people. D.Sighted members.
30.How does Jenny Tween feel during the tours?
A.Safe. B.Sleepy. C.Nervous. D.Surprised.
31.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.Shared Travel. B.Help Blind People.
C.Happy Holiday D.Travel around the World.

When Jewel opened at Singapore’s Changi Airport six years ago, its greenery and waterfalls amazed everyone. The already world-famous airport was transforming (转换) itself into a destination for visitors. However, turning an airport into a destination is hard, especially while respecting local culture. The key is to make these global gateways local.
New airport terminals (机场航站楼) make every effort to highlight their locations. The architecture is often inspired by nearby mountains or the beach. Popular local cafes and shops are moving into the terminal. And everything is often locally themed. Yantai Penglai International Airport in China features curves and materials that “echo (呼应) the nature all around the structure”.
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) expanded the concept of local design across the entire Harvey Milk Terminal 1. Doug Yakel, a public information officer at SFO, explains that even if travelers aren’t going into the city, they can briefly experience what San Francisco and the Bay Area represent. He highlights the local-themed concessions, art, and quiet areas with chaise lounges.
Turning the airport into a destination takes the idea of a local one-stop further. Portland International Airport (PDX) first achieved this in the late 1980s, when it opened the Oregon Market shopping mall. Over the years, the hallway hosted many local brands that were popular even with non-travelers until it closed in 2019 for a new terminal. ZGF architects designed the terminal to mimic a walk in the forest, with open views that highlight Portland’s natural surroundings. While PDX lacks exact data on non-traveler visits, short-term parking receipts (停车收据) have risen since the terminal’s August 2024 opening.
Like others, Denver International Airport is trying to copy at least some of Changi’s success. But whether its remote location — 20 miles from downtown can attract locals remains an open question.
32.Why does the author mention Yantai Penglai International Airport?
A.To compare it with Changi Airport in terms of popularity.
B.To show how airports use local natural features in their design.
C.To explain why Chinese airports are more modern than others.
D.To tell the importance of international cooperation in design.
33.What does the increase in short-term parking receipts at PDX suggest?
A.The new terminal has caused traffic jams.
B.The airport is attracting more local visitors.
C.The parking fees at the airport have gone up.
D.More travelers are choosing to drive to the airport.
34.What can be inferred about Denver International Airport?
A.Its local people have a strong passion for its change.
B.Its plan is to shift the terminal closer to Changi Airport.
C.Its far-from-town site may lessen its appeal to nearby locals.
D.Its yearly visitor number has already gone beyond Changi’s footfall.
35.What is the text mainly about?
A.Why International Airports are promoting tourism
B.Why airports are making themselves destinations for visitors
C.How airport terminals are making attempts to stress their locations
D.How airports are changing themselves into destinations for visitors

As my husband Bill and I drove to what was supposed to be our romantic anniversary (周年纪念日) getaway — an early autumn overnighter at a peaceful shore destination, an unexpected storm hit.
The Maple with its Olympic-size pool and award-winning restaurant was a perfect destination. Located atop a hill overlooking an ocean, it was within walking distance of a nearby town. At the other end of the road was a lighthouse where sightseers could climb the winding staircase to the observation spot.
This trip promised to be fantastic — until the rain poured down. The more I prayed, the harder it rained. We had to find a shelter to wait for the rain to stop. When we managed to get to The Maple, it was late at night.
The door of the indoor pool was locked. And it wouldn’t be open the next day, for it needed upgrading that day. I felt tears in my eyes.
Bill comforted, “We can have dinner in the restaurant you like.” So, we walked to the hotel restaurant, but were greeted by a sign: Closed on Mondays.
“Oh, I just studied the introduction to its delicious food! I thought it was open all the time,” I said to Bill. “I’m so sorry.”
“Relax, honey,” Bill said, “There must be something open in the nearby town.”
Soon, Bill and I found an old-fashioned restaurant in the town. There, we enjoyed our dinner while recalling our happy memories. When we considered having some dessert, the flash of a sign caught my attention. “Homemade ice cream,” it read. “Thirty flavors.” We ran to the corner shop, ordered several flavors and ate the whole thing. We felt like carefree teenagers!
When we returned to The Maple, Bill said, “Well, things didn’t go as expected. But tomorrow morning we can still climb to the top of the lighthouse before we drive back home. I know how much you want to do that.”
The following morning, as we approached the lighthouse, we saw another sign: CLOSED FOR REPAIRS. The storm must have damaged the lighthouse!
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
“Look! The beach ahead is still open. We can go there,” I said to Bill cheerfully.

66.Dear Mike,
I’m overjoyed that you’ll visit China in the winter vacation. I’d like to offer some suggestions to make your trip memorable.
Before your trip, you can consider booking a package tour through a travel agency for convenience. If you plan an independent trip, you need to make proper arrangements for your travel, including transportation and accommodation. As to the destination, I highly recommend visiting Beijing or Xi’an, where you can admire the magnificent architecture and long history.
I truly look forward to your arrival and believe you’ll be amazed by the charm of China.
Yours,
Li Hua
“Look! The beach ahead is still open. We can go there,” I said to Bill cheerfully. Bill’s eyes lit up, and he quickly parked the car. We rushed out, kicking off our shoes to feel the cool sand under our feet. I laughed as a small wave touched my toes, and Bill grabbed my hand to spin me around. We walked along the shore, picking up smooth shells now and then. The rain had stopped, leaving a bright rainbow in the sky. I felt my disappointment fade away, replaced by pure joy — this unplanned moment was more special than any fancy pool or restaurant.
As we drove home, Bill said to me, “This trip certainly didn’t go as planned, did it?” I smiled and shook my head. “But it was better than planned,” I replied. I thought about our funny run to the ice cream shop and the warm walk on the beach. Those little surprises made our anniversary feel unique. Bill reached over to hold my hand, and I squeezed it softly. “Next year, maybe we’ll plan less and just enjoy whatever comes,” he said. I nodded happily, knowing that even when things go wrong, being with him turns ordinary moments into precious memories. This trip wasn’t what we expected, but it was exactly what we needed.

D

注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
“Look! The beach ahead is still open. We can go there,” I said to Bill cheerfully.

M: So last week when I was talking about my flight around the world, I’d got as far as Norway. This week I’ll tell you about the last part back to my home — London. When I landed in Norway, two friends were there to meet me and took me to a hotel. And we talked a lot about my trip. The next morning after breakfast my friends helped me get into the suit I have to wear when flying over water. I hadn’t slept much, but I was excited and felt really wide awake on the flight to Denmark on Sunday evening. On Monday I was worried about the plane. There was a problem with one of the front wheels. But fortunately, I managed to land in the Netherlands without any problems. And my friends helped me repair the plane as soon as I landed. That night I stayed with them on their farm in the Netherlands. The next morning it was so foggy that I couldn’t fly, but it was good to have a break. When the fog lifted in the afternoon, I was pleased to take off within minutes. My next landing place was a flying club in the north of England and I knew it would be impossible to land there once the sun had gone down. But fortunately, it was a lovely clear evening, and I arrived in good time. I left early again on Thursday for London. I felt nervous because it was my last day of flying. Then, when I finally landed, I felt wonderful — the long, difficult journey had been worth it.

根据文章第三段“People often camp overnight on the island, as it is only accessible by boat. (人们经常在岛上露营过夜,因为只能乘船抵达。)”可知,Pulau Hantu 岛交通不便,需乘船前往,且常需过夜,因此一天内难以往返。故选D。
22.推理判断题。根据第一个海滩中“The white-sandy beach is man-made and it’s the perfect place to relax in the sun, read a book away from the crowds (这座白色的沙滩是人工建造的,是沐浴阳光、远离喧嚣安静读书的绝佳去处)”;第二个海滩中“This island has a quiet beach far from busy tourist spots. (这座岛屿拥有一处远离繁忙旅游景点的宁静海滩。)”;第三个海滩中“You can enjoy a quiet beach on St. John’s Island. (您可以在圣约翰岛上享受一片宁静的海滩。)”;第四个海滩“ Coney Island beach is the perfect place to relax away from the crowds.
根据文章第二段中的“We’d just watched a remarkable standoff: lionesses baring teeth and muscle to a dominant male who’d wandered too close. The roars came first, then a sudden, striking charge. Paws flew and their breath hung in the air over the grasslands, before the male eventually turned and dropped to the ground in frustration.(我们刚刚目睹了一场引人注目的对峙:母狮们露出牙齿和肌肉,对一头靠得太近的占主导地位的雄狮。先是咆哮声,然后是突然而猛烈的冲锋。狮爪飞舞,它们的呼吸在草原上方的空气中飘荡,最后雄狮沮丧地转身倒在地上)”可知,作者目睹了狮子之间激烈的冲突。故选C项。
25.词句猜测题。根据文章第三段中的“Thanks to collaboration between private reserves, landowners and anti-poaching units, the region has recorded some of the lowest rhino poaching statistics in the country.(由于私人保护区、土地所有者和反偷猎单位之间的合作,该地区记录了该国最低的犀牛偷猎数据)”可知,该地区在保护野生动物方面取得了显著成效,说明保护在该地区是一种积极的实践。
根据文章第四段中的“Head guide Damien Fourie was extensive in his knowledge and boyishly excited about every sight and sound.(首席导游Damien Fourie知识渊博,对每一处景象和声音都像孩子一样兴奋)”以及“And when we spotted a two-week-old white rhino walking unsteadily beside its mother later on the drive, he was as thrilled as we were.( 后来在驱车途中,我们看到一头两周大的白犀牛摇摇晃晃地跟在它的母亲身旁走着。那一刻,它和我们一样兴奋不已)”可知,Damien Fourie知识渊博,对每一次的景象和声音都充满热情,由此可推测出他是一个知识丰富且充满激情的人。故选B项。
27.推理判断题。根据文章最后一段中的“Not every safari needs a drumroll ending. Sometimes, a slow, misty morning and a quiet deck tick all the boxes.(并不是每一次观兽旅行都需要一个激动人心的结局。有时候,一个缓慢、雾蒙蒙的早晨和一个安静的甲板就足够了)”可知,作者认为观兽旅行并不总是需要激动人心的结局,有时一个安静、缓慢的早晨和甲板也能满足她的期望。由此可推测出作者认为这次观兽旅行满足了她的期望。D选项“It satisfied what she could hope for.( 这满足了她所期望的一切。)”

【答案】28.C 29.D 30.A 31.A
根据文章第一段中的“For each tour, half of the people can see and half can’t. A person who can see travels with a person who can’t.(每次旅行,一半的人能看见,一半的人看不见。一个能看见的人和一个看不见的人一起旅行。)”可知,在Travel Eyes的旅行中,一个盲人和一个视力正常的人一起旅行。故选C项。
29.词义猜测题。根据文章第一段中的“So, sighted members might describe the size and color of a building, or the smiles of strangers passing by.(因此,视力正常的成员可能会描述建筑物的大小和颜色,或者描述路过的陌生人的微笑。)”以及“They might explain the food, ‘Our lunch is a sandwich in the center of your plate, and chips in a bowl to the right of your plate.’(他们可能会解释食物,‘我们的午餐是你盘子中央的一个三明治,以及你盘子右边碗里的一些薯条。’)”
根据文章第二段中的“‘You don’t worry about danger any more. That’s really important,’ says Jenny Tween, a blind tourist.(‘你不再担心危险了。这真的很重要,’盲人游客珍妮·特文说。)”可知,盲人游客珍妮·特文在旅行中不再担心危险,因此可以推断出她在旅行中感到安全。故选A项。
根据文章最后一段中的“In the end, this isn’t a story about people who can see helping people who can’t. It’s about people with different abilities showing each other new ways of experiencing the world and meeting new friends.(最后,这不是一个关于能看见的人帮助看不见的人的故事。这是关于不同能力的人互相展示体验世界的新方式和结识新朋友的故事。)”以及全文内容可知,本文介绍Travel Eyes公司组织的特色旅游,让盲人与视力正常者结伴同行,互相帮助,共同体验世界的故事,因此“Shared Travel(共享旅行)”作为标题最符合文章主旨。故选A项。

根据第二段“New airport terminals (机场航站楼) make every effort to highlight their locations. The architecture is often inspired by nearby mountains or the beach. Popular local cafes and shops are moving into the terminal. And everything is often locally themed. Yantai Penglai International Airport in China features curves and materials that “echo (呼应) the nature all around the structure”.
根据第四段“While PDX lacks exact data on non-traveler visits, short-term parking receipts (停车收据) have risen since the terminal’s August 2024 opening. (虽然PDX缺乏关于非旅行者访问的确切数据,但自2024年8月航站楼开放以来,短期停车收据有所增加。)”可知,自新航站楼开放以来,短期停车收据有所增加,由此可推知,这表明机场吸引了更多的当地游客前来参观,导致停车需求增加。故选B项。
34.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Like others, Denver International Airport is trying to copy at least some of Changi’s success. But whether its remote location — 20 miles from downtown can attract locals remains an open question. (和其他机场一样,丹佛国际机场也试图至少复制一些樟宜机场的成功经验。但是,它距离市中心20英里的偏远位置能否吸引当地人,仍是一个悬而未决的问题。)”可知,丹佛国际机场距离市中心较远,这可能会降低其对当地人的吸引力,因此其能否吸引当地人仍是一个未知数。故选C项。
35.主旨大意题。根据第一段“When Jewel opened at Singapore’s Changi Airport six years ago, its greenery and waterfalls amazed everyone. The already world-famous airport was transforming (转换) itself into a destination for visitors. However, turning an airport into a destination is hard, especially while respecting local culture. The key is to make these global gateways local.

A. calm冷静的;B. graceful优雅的;C. injured受伤的;D. shocked震惊的。根据后文“explaining that in such situations, staying calm is a key skill(解释说在这种情况下,保持冷静是一项关键技能)”可知,导游是“冷静的”。故选A。
A. face面对;B. survive幸存;C. check检查;D. overcome克服。

After walking for nearly 10 kilometers amid the mist-blanketed peaks of China’s Huangshan Mountain, Phil Lecomte caught sight of a breathtaking village as he was 56 the edge of giving up. This magical moment unfolded 15 years ago, 57 the Frenchman set foot on Huangshan Mountain for the very first time. He has since traveled to China almost yearly.
In 2012, Lecomte, with a deep love for China’s landscapes, 58 (become) a tour guide and turned his short trips to China into a long-term stay filled with wonder. Unlike other guides, he rarely takes his guests — mostly foreigners — to those often visited 59 (attraction). Instead, he often hikes or rides a motorcycle with his friends, 60 (escape) the hustle and bustle of cities to hunt for hidden scenic spots scattered (分散的) around Huangshan Mountain.
Lecomte 61 (true) enjoys every minute spent hiking with his Chinese and foreign friends. They play the guitar by clear streams, chat with locals picking tea, 62 fall asleep to the sounds of frogs and insects.
Also, he shares these precious moments captured by his camera on Chinese social media, like images of an old man sitting in a chair reading a book against the sunset, or children running around 63 ancient village waving colorful fish lanterns. Lecomte 64 (take) over 118,000photos in China up to now. He often says 65 he loves most about China is the warm and simple lifestyle of the people here.
56.on 57.when 58.became 59.attractions 60.escaping 61.truly 62.and 63.an 64.has taken 65.what
on the edge of doing sth. 故填on。
故填when。
分析句子可知,play the guitar...、chat with locals... 故填and。
故填an。
故填has taken。
故填what。

The following morning, as we approached the lighthouse, we saw another sign: CLOSED FOR REPAIRS. The storm must have damaged the lighthouse!注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
“Look! The beach ahead is still open. We can go there,” I said to Bill cheerfully.

As we drove home, Bill said to me, “This trip certainly didn’t go as planned, did it?”
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This week i'll tell you about the last part back to my home, london. When I landed in norway, two friends were there to meet me and took me to a hotel, and we talked a lot about my trip. The next morning after breakfast, my friends helped me get into the suit I have to wear when flying over water. I hadn't sleep much, but I was excited and felt really wide awake on the flight to denmark on sunday evening. On monday, I was worried about the plane. There was a problem with one of the front wheels, but fortunately, I managed to land in the netherlands without any problems. And my friends helped me repair the plane. As soon as I landed at night, I stayed with them on their farm in the netherlands. The next morning I was so fogging that I couldn't fly, but IT was good to have a break. When the fog lifted in the afternoon, I was pleased to take off within minutes. My next landing place was a flying club in the north of england, and I knew I would be impossible to land there once the sun had gone down. But fortunately, IT was a lovely, clear evening, and I arrived in good time. I left early again on thursday for london. I felt nervous because I was my last day of flying. Then when I finally landed, I felt wonderful. The long, difficult journey had been worth IT. So last week, when I was talking about my flight around the world, i'd got as far as norway.
