The 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala (春晚) has a cool theme (主题) called “Qiji Galloping, Unstoppable”. The show will bring together old and new fun for Chinese families everywhere on New Year’s Eve.
For us students, this theme is not just fun—it’s a great lesson about courage and hard work. In Chinese culture, horses stand for energy and progress, and qiji means fine horses, making the theme full of positive energy.
First, horses never stop running. This tells us not to give up when we have hard exams or difficult homework. Second, the “unstoppable” spirit encourages us to follow our dreams bravely (勇敢地), whether we love sports, art or science. Third, the four horses in the logo (标识) show teamwork — we need to help our classmates, just like horses running side by side.
In short, the Gala’s theme is more than a New Year wish. It tells us teenagers to be positive and keep moving forward. Every small step we take in study and life counts. It also reminds us that we can become stronger and better if we hold on to our goals. Let’s run bravely like horses in the new year and take steps toward our dreams!

In the mountains of Guizhou, China, there is a great bridge called the Huajiang Valley (山谷) Bridge. It is one of the highest bridges in the world. Giant pandas are loved worldwide for their black-and-white fur and cute round faces, looking like real teddy bears. Pandas live in the mountain forests of China. Surprisingly, they’re meat-eaters by nature, but now mostly eat bamboo, spending 12 to 14 hours a day on it.
Bamboo is low in nutrition (营养) and hard to digest (消化). But pandas have special body parts that help them eat it. They have strong jaws (下巴) to break bamboo. They also have a “sixth finger” — a special bone in their paw (爪子). It helps them hold bamboo easily.
Scientists think pandas started eating bamboo about 7,000,000 years ago. At that time, the climate changed and other foods were hard to find. Bamboo grows fast and covers large forests, so it became a good food choice.
Now, bamboo makes up 99% of a panda’s diet. A full-grown panda can eat 12 to 38 kg of bamboo each day! They enjoy over 20 kinds of bamboo. Sometimes, a panda may eat small animals or eggs, but bamboo is always their favorite.
Pandas teach us an important lesson: animals can change to fit new living places. Even though pandas were born to eat meat, they became the world’s most famous bamboo lovers!
63. Pandas _______________ 12 to 14 hours a day on bamboo, but they’re natural meat-eaters.
64. A _______________ helps pandas hold bamboo.
65. Pandas change to fit their living places because of _______________ and less food.
