The Strange Slope (斜坡) is a natural place to travel in China’s Liaoning Province. And there’s a strange situation that causes things to go uphill and prevents them from going downhill.
The Strange Slope area takes an important position in Liaoning Province. It’s considered one of the eight natural wonders there. It was discovered in 1990. It’s said that a policeman found the Strange Slope first. One day, when he drove down the slope and stopped his car in the area, he noticed that his car slowly went to the top of the hill. The strange news spread quickly. A great number of people were interested in it. Before long, many people came to see the slope in person. The local government then stepped in. They cleaned the place up and built a road that was suitable for bikes and cars. ▲ Soon, it became a famous spot that many people wanted to visit.
Many people have their opinions about the causes of the Strange Slope. Some believe our eyes are deceiving (欺骗) us because they find the area around the Strange Slope is downhill, but the other area is actually uphill. This area is 80 meters long and 15 meters wide, so our eyes can’t see the difference between these two areas and think the uphill slope might be the downhill. But some people guess the magnetic field (磁场) may cause the Strange Slope. Some even think there might be magic in this place.

Do you like collecting tea sets? How much do you know about tea sets? Do you know that they have changed a lot over time?
In general, tea sets have become smaller and simpler after a lot of changes. There are few records of tea sets before the Tang Dynasty. In Cha Jing, a great book written by Lu Yu in the Tang Dynasty, 28 kinds of tools used for making and drinking tea are mentioned.
The tea sets in the Tang Dynasty were simple while the ones in the Song Dynasty were more beautiful. In the Song Dynasty, tea-tasting competitions enjoyed great popularity. The tea bottle used in the game often had a big belly (肚子), a long neck, and a curved (弧形的) mouth, which could control the water better when filling a cup. Cups made of black glaze (黑釉) were especially loved by people then. The color matched the tea better and the thickness of the cup could help keep the tea warm.
In the Ming and Qing dynasties, tea sets became simple again, and those made of gold and silver disappeared (消失) bit by bit. To test the color of the tea, white tea sets were more popular. In the Qing Dynasty, purple clay tea sets made in Yixing, Jiangsu developed quickly and were loved widely. It is said that tea brewed (冲泡) in Yixing’s purple clay tea sets still tastes good after being kept in the teapot for one night even in hot summer.

例文:
Dear Editor,
I’m Li Ming from Class 5, Grade 9. I’m excited about the coming City Exploration Day and would like to share my plan. I strongly support Plan A, Traditional Culture Tour, because it helps us understand our roots and deeply appreciate our rich and diverse cultural heritage.
Besides visiting a tea art museum and trying to make a traditional handicraft, we can also attend a local opera performance and learn some basic dance moves from the actors. Additionally, visiting an old street to taste local snacks and chat with local craftsmen will surely be a great way to experience traditional flavors and customs firsthand.
I believe my ideas will make the day both fun and meaningful. I’m looking forward to your reply.
Best wishes,
Li Ming
