Researchers at Michigan State University recently found that bees’ sense of “smell” is sensitive enough to identify (识别) chemical smells of cancer. Bees sense chemicals in their environment using antennae (触须), which serve as “noses” to sense smells.
The researchers wrote in a study that honeybees can sniff (嗅) out lung cancer on a patient’s breath. “There is quite a bit of research that shows when some cancer grows inside our bodies, our breath actually changes. Our research does show that honeybees can detect lung cancer and possibly other diseases based on the smells of those cells (细胞).”
The scientists said that the bees could tell the difference between the cancer breath and the laboratory copy of the healthy human breath 93 percent of the time. The scientists added that the bees could also tell the difference between different kinds of lung cancer.
The discovery could help doctors detect many cancers, including lung, breast, head, and neck cancers, earlier than other methods. Saha says detecting cancers this way would be an improvement. “The reason is, many times we detect the cancer late, when a growth has become too big to control easily.” But, he added, when cancer starts growing, the breath starts changing much earlier.
He hopes to develop a system that a patient will be able to breathe into, and that can be carried around easily. This would deliver (递送) test results immediately. “Hopefully, within the next five years, we’ll have something to show that humans can be diagnosed (诊断) using these insect sensors,” Saha said.

D.The patient’s breath is mostly detected too late.
55.What does the underlined word “This” refer to in Paragraph 5?

China’s Tiangong space station has been completed. Astronauts around the world can work and live in it. Are you dreaming of becoming an astronaut? In fact, only a few people could be astronauts. Does that mean you’ll never get the chance to work for space research? Not necessarily. In fact, some of the space jobs are not for astronauts.
One of the most interesting space jobs is chief sniffer (首席嗅探员). The job is to smell materials before they are used in spaceships. Using your nose at work might sound a little strange, but the job is actually important. A spaceship is small and can become quite hot, which makes the smells inside stronger. And once a spaceship is launched, astronauts have no ways to run away from unpleasant smells. More importantly, smelling objects can help find things that could do harm to astronauts’ health.
Another job, the space tour guide, may seem a little ahead of its time. But some companies are starting to plan space trips and some space lovers want to order the tours. It may not be long before space becomes one of the top travel destinations (目的地). A space tour guide needs rich knowledge to help tourists get the most out of their journeys. Space tour guides also need to be excellent storytellers so that tourists can fully experience the beauty of the space travel.
Astronauts often spend a long time in space with the same group of people, so a “space psychologist” is also needed to help them deal with feelings like loneliness.
56.What’s a chief sniffer’s job mainly about?
A.Helping look after astronauts’ health.
B.Checking the temperature of spaceships.
C.Cleaning unpleasant smells out of spaceships.
D.Keeping astronauts away from unpleasant smells.
57.Who will most probably be a space tour guide?
A.A man who is helpful and full of energy.
B.A woman who is rich and interested in space.
C.A man who is knowledgeable and good at telling stories.
D.A woman who is successful and active in communicating.

At the Badaling Great Wall in Beijing, getting food and water used to require a 50-minute walk. But now, people can place orders on the phone, and drones will bring them over in a few minutes. The drones can also take away garbage from tourists on their return journeys.
By June, over 1.87 million drones had received permission (许可) to work, reported China Daily. The demand for drone pilots is rising. However, only about 225 thousand people have the necessary licenses (执照) to fly them. This creates a shortage of almost 1 million licensed drone pilots in the country.
Since drones have been used in many areas, like farming, video filming and environmental protection, drone pilots can also work in different industries. The pay is good too. Some pilots are paid around 30 thousand yuan per month, reported China Daily.
That is why more people are training to get drone licenses. At Xiaoxiang Yongxiang, a business offering such training in Hunan province, about 500 people have graduated (毕业) so far this year. Before, there were only about 200 each year.
To get a drone-flying license for distances under 500 meters, people need to take 44 hours of training. For longer distances, 56 hours are required. “I believe drones are the future,” said Dong Jiamin, head of Xiaoxiang Yongxiang.
The excitement around drones is connected to the development of the low-altitude economy (低空经济), which is about activities happening in the airspace below 3 thousand meters. By 2030, this part of the economy could reach 2 thousand billion yuan in China. Other industries, such as AI and green energy, are also expected to grow with it.

63.主旨大意题。根据“...drone pilots can also work in different industries. The pay is good too. Some pilots are paid around 30 thousand yuan per month...”可知,本段主要讲了无人机应用的范围广泛及无人机驾驶员报酬优厚,这些也进一步说明了上一段中无人机驾驶员需求量骤增的原因。故选D。
64.推理判断题。根据文中“The demand for drone pilots is rising.”及“By 2030, this part of the economy could reach 2 thousand billion yuan in China. Other industries, such as AI and green energy, are also expected to grow with it.”可知,无人机的前景很好。故选B。

61.How soon will people get food after placing orders at the Badaling Great Wall?
A.In about 5 minutes. B.In about 50 minutes.
C.In about 44 hours. D.In about 56 hours.
