You might even do it on purpose. A new study suggests going without one of the standard three meals a day might have a serious downside. 24, 000 people participated in the study. Around 30 percent of the participants often had fewer than three meals a day. According to the data, those who were younger, male, with less of an education and a lower family income, were more likely to skip meals. Meal-skipping was also more common among those who smoked more, drank more, ate less healthy food, had more snacks, and took in less energy overall. Compared with participants eating three meals per day, the risk for participants eating one meal per day was 30% higher for all-cause death, and 83% higher for cardiovascular (心血管的) disease (CVD) death. Those who ate two meals a day had a 7% increased risk of all-cause death and a 10% increased risk of cardiovascular death. The CVD death rate of the participants who skipped breakfast was 40% higher compared with those who did not. The all-cause death risk was 12% higher for skipping lunch and 16% higher for skipping dinner compared with those who did not. Skipping breakfast was connected with a greater risk of dying from CVD, while skipping lunch or dinner was connected with a greater risk of all-cause death, including a rise in CVD risk. There was even a problem for those who ate all three meals but had them too close together. Eating two neighbouring meals within 4.5 hours of each other was also shown to be connected with increased all-cause death risk. While the study seems to make messages difficult that suggest intermittent fasting (间歇性禁食) could be good for you, the data stresses the importance of regular refueling stops for the body. 18.What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A.Who would skip meals. B.How the research is done. C.Why people skip meals. D.What the course of the study is. 19.How is meal-skipping connected with diseases? A.Meal-skipping can reduce the risk of diseases. B.Meal-skipping makes no difference to diseases. C.The chances of diseases rise with more meal-skippings. D.It’s hard to tell the influence of meal-skipping on diseases. 20.What do the underlined words “regular refueling stops” in the last paragraph mean? A.Skipping meals sometimes. B.Skipping a fixed meal. C.Having meals at your will. D.Having meals at the right time. 21.Which statement will the author probably agree with? A.Fasting is a good way for health. B.Good eating habits can treat CVD. C.Eating meals on time is healthier. Meal-skipping was also more common among those who smoked more, drank more, ate less healthy food…”可知,这一段主要说明哪些人群更容易不吃正餐。故选A。 19.细节理解题。根据第三段“Compared with participants eating three meals per day, the risk for participants eating one meal per day was 30% higher for all-cause death, and 83% higher for cardiovascular disease (CVD) death. Those who ate two meals a day had a 7% increased risk…”可知,不吃正餐的次数越多,患病风险越高。故选C。 20.词句猜测题。根据最后一段“While the study seems to make messages difficult that suggests intermittent fasting (间歇性禁食) could be good for you”可知,间歇性禁食对身体有好处,“regular refueling stops”指的是 “规律地为身体补充能量”,即在合适的时间吃饭。故选D。 21.推理判断题。全文强调规律用餐的重要性,因此作者很可能同意“按时吃饭更健康”这一观点。故选C。 D ①Some people like having instant noodles (方便面) as a quick lunch—others enjoy them while traveling through the air. But some passengers on Korean Air can’t do this anymore. The airline has taken its much-loved instant noodles off its economy (经济舱) menu. ②The reason? Turbulence (湍流). Turbulence on planes has gone up by as much as 55% over the past 40 years, a 2023 UK study found. And Korean Air said the number of times its flights (航班) have experienced turbulence has doubled since 2019. ③The airline said that this, along with little space in the walkways and passengers sitting close together, could raise the danger of passengers being burned (烫伤) by hot water in cups of instant noodles. In June 2024, a passenger traveling on an Air New Zealand flight was burned when turbulence caused a full pot of coffee to fall from the drinks holder. Later in early July, a woman sued (起诉) US airline JetBlue after being badly burned by hot tea during turbulence. ④Instant noodles were part of Korean Air’s in-flight menu and were given for free on longer flights before. But since August 15, 2024, economy passengers have found other foods—like sandwiches and pizza—on the menu instead of instant noodles. Passengers in business and first class are still able to enjoy instant noodles, however. That’s because the possibility of these passengers being burned is lower. ⑤Online, people have mixed feelings about the decision (决定). Some don’t agree with it, saying the airline has kept other foods that could make burns happen, like tea and coffee. But others agree with Korean Air, with some saying they’re often worried about getting burned, and others saying they don’t like the smell of the instant noodles anyway. 22.When did Korean Air stop offering instant noodles to economy class passengers? A.In 2019. B.In 2023. C.In June 2024. D.In August 2024. 23.Why does the writer mention the numbers and the example in Paragraph ② and ③? A.To introduce the danger of fire. B.To compare the burn accidents of different airlines. C.To show the importance of offering passenger snacks. D.To explain the reasons for not offering instant noodles on planes. 24.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A.Passengers prefer tea and coffee to instant noodles. B.Passengers in business and first class can still eat instant noodles. C.Korean Air offers other noodles instead of sandwiches and pizza. D.No passengers on Korean Air are worried about being burned now. 25.What’s the last paragraph mainly about? A.Who made the decision. B.Why the airline made the decision. C.What people think of the decision. D.How we can benefit from the decision. 根据“But since August 15, 2024, economy passengers have found other foods…on the menu instead of instant noodles.”可知,大韩航空是从2024年8月15日开始停止向经济舱乘客提供方便面的。故选D。 23.推理判断题。根据“The reason? D ①Some people like having instant noodles (方便面) as a quick lunch—others enjoy them while traveling through the air.
