Passage 1
①From carpenter (木匠) to great artist-this was the course of Qi Baishi’s life. Qi has made great achievements in artistic culture. In 1953, he was honored with the title “People’s Artist” by Chinese government.
②Qi Baishi has left behind a large number of works that covered many subjects, including shrimps, crabs, and fish. These artworks have often been on display (展览), attracting millions of art lovers. For most people, however, his masterpieces are his paintings of shrimps like Mo Xia and Xia qutu.
③Qi’s works are not only about animals but also about flowers and vegetables. People love these nature-based paintings because the works remind them of the countryside and of their hometowns. The dove is another common subject in Qi’s art during his later years, showing his wish for world peace.
④Whether they are landscapes, shrimps, flowers or figures (人物), Qi’s paintings are rich in expressions and details. At the beginning, he painted these by following ancient models. Later, he developed a personal style by using heavy ink, bright colors and energetic strokes (笔锋) to give them an almost real-life feel. He created works in a fresh and lively way, showing his love for nature and life. His art reflected an international trend in modern art at the time, yet he expressed it in a typical Chinese way.
⑤Qi kept fighting for higher goals, especially as he got older. The man still continued to work even in his 70s. While many other Chinese artists retire from public life at an old age, Qi actively took on more social responsibilities. He said: “I love my hometown, my country and all the lives there. In recent years, I have realized that what I pursue is world peace.” In 1956, he was awarded the International Peace Prize by the World Peace Council.
⑥In short, Qi Baishi has influenced a large number of people in China. Not only do his works play an important part in Chinese culture, but his spirits also encourage generations of Chinese people.
1.Which of the following is TRUE about Qi’s works?
A.His most famous paintings are about crabs.
B.His works are only about flowers and vegetables.
C.He developed a personal style by using dark colors.
D.Nature-based paintings make people think of their hometowns.
2.Which saying can best describe the spirit of Qi according to the passage?
A.Silence is golden. B.Life is short, art is long.
C.Manners make the man. D.Keep something for a rainy day.
3.What does the underlined word them in paragraph ④ refer to?
A.Qi’s paintings B.energetic strokes C.ancient models D.nature
4.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
A. B.
C. D.
【答案】1.D 2.B 3.A 4.C
【解析】1.细节理解题。根据“People love these nature-based paintings because the works remind them of the countryside and of their hometowns.”
根据“Qi’s paintings are rich in expressions and details. At the beginning, he painted these following ancient models. Later he developed a personal style...”
Passage 2
①Everybody knows that Earth spins (旋转) from west to east. When we see from above the North Pole (北极), it appears to be spinning counterclockwise. That is to say, it’s opposite to the way clock hands move. But what if Earth started spinning the other way?
②Scientists from Germany have made a computer model in which Earth spins from east to west when we see from above the North Pole. This showed them some interesting things about the weather and topography (地形地貌) on Earth, Live Science reported.
③As Earth spins in a counterclockwise direction, it shapes ocean currents (洋流). The direction of the spin, together with wind produces different kinds of weather around the world.
④But an opposite spin changes the ocean currents and winds. So, the climate (weather of a certain place) is different. Winters become even colder in northwestern Europe, while eastern Russia becomes warmer than before. Rain no longer falls on the planet’s wettest places.
⑤Another result of a backward spin is that Earth becomes greener. Scientists found that the size of global deserts dropped from 42 million km2 to 31 million km². This may have something to do with the changing climate.
⑥Therefore, you can see green landscapes from Central Africa to the Middle East, which are mostly covered by deserts now. More surprisingly, the Sahara Desert becomes an oasis (green land).
⑦ ▲ They just appear in some places that they never appeared in before. Deserts would cover North America where countries like the United States and Canada lie. Sand dunes (沙丘) would replace the Amazon rainforest in South America.
⑧A backward spin would keep the main characteristics of Earth’s topography, such as the size, shapes and positions of continents and oceans. But it would also change the interactions (相互作用) between air, ocean and topography, lead scientist Florian Ziemen told Live Science.
5.Which picture shows the meaning of “counterclockwise” in paragraph one?
A.B.C. D.
6.Which sentence can be put in the ▲ ?
A.However, deserts don’t disappear.
B.As a result, global deserts are gone forever.
C.In fact, this change makes all deserts even larger.
D.For example, the Sahara becomes even drier than before.
7.Which of the sayings can best express the main idea of Paragraph 8?
A.A single step leads to a thousand-mile journey. B.Every coin has two sides in its existence.
C.Hard work brings pay-off in the long term. D.A small move may influence the bigger picture.
8.What’s the structure of this text?
A. B.
C. D.
【答案】5.C 6.A 7.D 8.B
【解析】5.词句猜测题。根据“it appears to be spinning counterclockwise. That is to say, it’s opposite to the way clock hands move”可知,它与钟表指针的移动方向相反,钟表指针是顺时针,因此“counterclockwise”是逆时针,选项C的箭头方向为逆时针(与钟表指针方向相反),符合词义。故选C。
故选A。
7.主旨大意题。根据“But it would also change the interactions (相互作用) between air, ocean and topography,”可知,顺时针旋转会改变空气、海洋和地形之间的相互作用,即一个小小的举动可能会影响大局。故选D。
Passage 3
Recently, researchers in New Jersey discovered the Cooper’s Hawk (库珀鹰) can understand how to use human traffic rules to hunt, so that they hunt more easily and successfully. This was discovered by Vladimir Dinets, who is an animal expert, and his research was published on May 23, 2025, in Frontiers in Animal Behavior. Other studies have pointed out that birds often use human buildings and cars to help them hunt, but recognizing traffic lights is a first.
In the winter of 2021, Dinets saw a young Cooper’s Hawk standing in a tree near the traffic lights. It flew low with the cover of stopped cars, and disappeared into the front yard across the street. A moment later, it reappeared, catching a sparrow (麻雀). This hunt left a deep impression on Dinets. It seemed to know when the traffic light was red.
Through continued watching, Dinets believes it knew traffic lights from the quiet noise when the red light was on at a certain time. Also, the hawk knew that sparrows would be at a certain house because the owner put out rubbish every day. So, the hawk used the cars which lined up to get close to the sparrows without being seen, making it easier to catch them.
This is more difficult than imagined.
The Cooper’s Hawk can’t see its prey (猎物) from the tree. So it has to remember the area around it and work out its way. Also, it has to know that quiet noise has something to do with traffic lights. This behavior must come from careful planning, a great memory, and difficult thinking skills. In a word, to have this hunting skill needs a lot of cleverness.
Maybe other animals can do the same, but this Cooper’s Hawk is the first wild animal they’ve discovered. These birds fly through this area only in summer and winter. This means the Cooper’s Hawk probably learned to do this in just a few days or weeks.
Finally, Dinets also saw a Cooper’s Hawk hunting in the same manner the following winter (2022), and he believes it is the same hawk, now an adult. However, in the summer of the year after that, the sound signal from the streetlight was gone, the people living there moved away, and there were no longer any sparrows there. From then on, Dinets never saw the Cooper’s Hawk nearby again.
9.How does the writer support the idea “This is more difficult than imagined”?
A.By explaining steps. B.By giving numbers.
C.By making comparisons. D.By offering facts.
10.What do we know about the Cooper’s Hawk?
A.It used the time of day to tell when the light was red.
B.It caught its prey with the help of the house owner.
C.It may learn the hunting skill in a short period.
D.It is the first wild animal to use buildings to hunt.
11.What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.The hawk stopped coming because Dinets scared it away.
B.The hunting skill was no longer useful in that place.
C.The hawk might have taught other hawks the same skill.
D.Dinets believes the hawk died after the summer of 2022.
12.Which is the best title of the passage?
A.A discovery about the Cooper’s Hawk B.Traffic lights’ role in directing hunting
C.The influence of human life on animals D.The value of scientific research to nature
【答案】9.D 10.C 11.B 12.A
【解析】9.推理判断题。根据“The Cooper’s Hawk can’t see its prey (猎物) from the tree. So it has to remember the area around it and work out its way. Also, it has to know that quiet noise has something to do with traffic lights.”可知,作者通过列举“库珀鹰无法从树上看到猎物,需要记住环境、关联嗡嗡声与交通灯”等事实,来支撑“这比想象中更难”的观点。故选D。
10.细节理解题。根据“This means the Cooper’s Hawk probably learned to do this in just a few days or weeks.”可知,库珀鹰可能在短时间内学会了这种捕猎技巧。故选C。
11.推理判断题。根据“However, in the summer of the year after that, the sound signal from the streetlight was gone, the people living there moved away, and there were no longer any sparrows there. From then on, Dinets never saw the Cooper’s Hawk nearby again.”
A“A discovery about the Cooper’s Hawk”(关于库珀鹰的一项发现)准确概括了文章核心。故选A。
Passage 4
①From social relationships to work challenges, Chinese people are turning to DeepSeek to deal with different personal matters. They describe sharing their thoughts and receiving helpful responses from the popular chatbot. As a rising trend on social media, AI therapy (疗法) is changing the way people look for mental health support. But can AI really replace a human therapist?
②Around the world, 45 percent of people who needed mental health care in 2024 did not receive it because it was too expensive or there weren’t enough doctors, according to Huntington Psychological (心理的) Services. Daniel Lowood, a professor at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help solve the absence of therapy services. “If people can find some support and thoughts by talking to chatbots, then I think that’s wonderful,” Lowood told Newsweek.
③However, AI has its limits. Human therapists understand feelings deeply through face-to-face talks and create suitable treatment plans—something robots can’t fully copy. Dr Liu Yang, a Beijing-based psychologist, notes, “An AI might recognize key words like ‘divorce’ or ‘layoff’, but it cannot find out small emotional changes in one’s body language.” This point becomes important when dealing with a series of situations, where misunderstandings could be dangerous.
④The use of AI in psychotherapy also has made people question if its answers can be trusted. “AI chatbots will reply as therapists if asked, without any of the management, training or responsibility of a human counselor (顾问),” Richard Lachman, a professor told Newsweek.
⑤Experts believe the key to AI therapy lies in proper government management. Wysa, for example, is a mental health app that offers therapeutic conversations with an AI chatbot. In 2022, it worked with the UK’s National Health Service, following a list of strict standards. As AI becomes more a part of our lives, understanding its influence on human psychology means finding a balance between what’s helpful and what’s dangerous, Euronews reported.
13.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A.Mental health service. B.The AI therapy.
C.The government management. D.The Chatbot DeepSeek.
14.What can we learn about human therapists from Paragraph 3?
A.They are unable to understand the key words and phrases like AI does.
B.Their treatment plans are not as suitable as those created by AI system.
C.They can figure out unspoken emotional information that AI fails to do.
D.Their skills and methods can be replaced by AI therapy sooner or later.
15.According to Paragraph 5, how can AI therapy be developed in a safe and effective way?
①By using an app that can provide the therapeutic conversations.
②By carrying out proper government management on AI therapy.
③By making AI therapy apps follow strict professional standards.
④By cutting down the time of using AI in psychological treatment.
A.①② B.②③ C.①④ D.③④
16.What is the author’s main purpose of writing this passage?
A.To show that nowadays AI therapy is a better choice for people with the mental problems.
B.To help readers learn about AI therapy’s advantages, limits and proper ways to develop.
C.To warn readers that AI therapy has too many problems and should not be used anymore.
D.To describe how Chinese people use AI chatbots like DeepSeek for mental health care.

14.推理判断题。根据第三段“Human therapists understand feelings deeply through face-to-face talks and create suitable treatment plans—something robots can’t fully copy...An AI might recognize key words like ‘divorce’ or ‘layoff’, but it cannot find out small emotional changes in one’s body language.”
根据第五段“Experts believe the key to AI therapy lies in proper government management...In 2022, it worked with the UK’s National Health Service, following a list of strict standards.”可知,专家认为AI疗法的关键在于政府的适当管理,AI疗法应用程序需要遵循严格的专业标准。因此,②③符合题意。故选B。
16.推理判断题。根据第二段“Daniel Lowood, a professor at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help solve the absence of therapy services...‘If people can find some support and thoughts by talking to chatbots, then I think that’s wonderful,’ Lowood told Newsweek.”、第三段“However, AI has its limits.”以及第五段“Experts believe the key to AI therapy lies in proper government management.”可知,文章既提到了AI疗法的优势,也提到了其局限性,还提到了如何安全有效地发展AI疗法。由此可知,作者写这篇文章的主要目的是帮助读者了解AI疗法的优势、局限性和适当的发展方式。故选B。

Passage 6
One Saturday morning, Tom Sawyer had to paint the fence around his Aunt Polly’s house. It was a long and boring job, and Tom hated it. He stared at the fence and thought, “I can’t do this all day. The boys will laugh at me and call me a ‘good boy’ for working on a Saturday!”
Just then, Ben Rogers came along. He was eating an apple and singing happily. “Hi, Tom! What are you up to?” Ben asked with a big smile. Tom didn’t look up and kept painting the fence slowly and carefully. “Oh, just painting,” he said, as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.
Ben was surprised. “Painting? On a Saturday? I thought you hated work!” “Work?” Tom said, turning to him. “This isn’t work—it’s fun! Aunt Polly only lets special boys paint this fence, and it takes real skills.”
Ben stopped eating his apple, and his eyes grew wide. “Really? Can I try a little?” “No, Ben. Aunt Polly is strict—she said only I can do it right,” Tom replied. “I’ll give you my apple!” Ben begged. Tom thought for a second and agreed.
Ben worked hard, while Tom sat under a tree, eating the apple and watching him. Soon, other boys walked by. When they saw Ben painting, they wanted to try too. Johnny gave Tom a kite, and Jim gave him a marble. Before long, the fence had been painted three times, and Tom had lots of new toys.
Later, Aunt Polly came out. She looked at the fence and felt very happy. “Tom, you did a great job! I didn’t think you’d finish it so quickly. Here’s a cookie for you.” Tom smiled, ate the cookie, and played with his toys. “Work is only work if you don’t want to do it,” he thought.

Passage 7
Behrman was a painter, but a failure in art. Although his life was hard, he had always been about to paint a masterpiece, but had never yet begun it. He made little money by serving as a model to the young artists who could not pay the price of a professional. Among those young artists are Sue and Johnsy.
One day, Sue told Behrman the serious illness of Johnsy. As she lay in bed, she would watch the ivy leaves (常春藤叶) fall from the old vine (藤蔓) outside her window.
“When the last leaf falls,” Sue said in a low voice. “She said that she shall go, too.”
“Foolishness!” Behrman shouted. “Someday I will paint a masterpiece and we shall live a life of success. Got it!”
At night, they paid a visit to Johnsy. She was sleeping at that time. Inside her room, they looked out of the window fearfully at the last leaf on the vine. A cold rain was falling, mixed with snow. The drops were beating heavily against the shaking leaf.
Johnsy woke up the next morning. She found the leaf was still on the vine, brave and green against the gray wall. Another night passed, stormy and cold, but the leaf still survived (幸存).
Not long after, the doctor said Johnsy was out of danger. However, old Behrman passed away because of pneumonia (肺炎).
And that afternoon, Sue came to Johnsy’s bed.
“I have something to tell you, Miss Johnsy,” she said. “Mr. Behrman had been ill for only two days. When he was found by the janitor (门卫), he was helpless with pain. His shoes and clothes were all wet through and icy cold. And then a lantern, still lighted, a ladder and some brushes with green and yellow colors were found. Passage 8
“It was Mrs. Craven’s garden and she loved it. She looked after the flowers together with Mr. Craven. No gardeners were allowed in.”
“But what happened?” Mary asked.
“There was an old tree in the garden with a branch (树枝) like a seat. Mrs. Craven often sat there, reading and talking. One day, the branch broke and she fell down. She was badly hurt and died soon. Mr. Craven locked the garden and never talked about it.”
Mary seldom felt sorry for anyone, but now she understood how sad her uncle must be.
The wind roared around the house, and the doors and windows banged. Mary listened, and through the noise she thought that she heard a child crying.
“Can you hear someone crying?” she asked Martha.
Martha seemed pretty nervous. “No,” she answered. “It’s only the wind or the servant who works in the kitchen. She’s got a toothache. Perhaps she’s crying. I’m going to check if she needs any help.” After the words. Martha left the room quickly.
When Martha left her alone. Mary decided to explore the house. She went quietly along corridors (过道) and up and down stairs. In the silence of the house she heard again the sound of a child crying. She stopped to listen at a door, but then another door opened and Mrs. Medlock came out. “What are you doing here?” she said, and she took Mary by the arm and pulled her away. “Get back to your room at once.”

Passage 9
All day long the Swallow (燕子) flew. At night-time he arrived at the city and saw a statue (雕像) on the tall stone. So he flew down and settled just between the feet of the Happy Prince.
Just as he was putting his head under his wings for sleep, a large drop of water fell on him. “How come?” he cried, “There is no cloud in the sky. The stars are quite bright.” Then another drop fell. “What is the use of a statue if it cannot keep the rain off?” he said, “I must look for somewhere else to stay,” and he decided to fly away.
But before he had opened his wings, a third drop fell. He looked up, and saw the eyes of the Happy Prince which were filled with tears, and tears were running down his golden cheeks. “Who are you?” the Swallow said.
“I am the Happy Prince.”
“Why are you weeping (哭泣) then?” asked the Swallow.
“When I was alive and had a human heart,” answered the statue, “Everything about me was so beautiful. I did not know what tears were, for I lived in Palace of Sans-Souci (无忧宫) where sadness is not allowed to enter. Around the palace ran a very high wall, and I thought life outside was the same as mine inside. People called me the Happy Prince, and I did live a happy life until I died. Since I am dead, they set me up here so high that I can see all the sadness and darkness of my city. Though my heart is made of lead (铅), I can’t help weeping for my people.”

Passage 10
I wish Halloween was every day. We could all wear masks all the time. Then we could walk around and get to know each other before we got to see what we looked like under the masks.
I had the best costume in the world, too. Boba Fett. I love Boba Fett.
But as soon as I got to school, everything felt different. I saw Julian and his friends laughing at a little kid whose costume was unfolding. “Look, it’s the hidden man!” Julian said. The kid’s face got all red and he walked away faster.
I suddenly didn’t feel like taking off my mask. In homeroom, no one said anything about me keeping it on. It was like I wasn’t even there. And for the first time, that felt... good.
In my morning classes, teachers told me to take it off, but I just shook my head and they let me keep it on.
But then in science class, Ms. Rubin said, “Okay, August, time to take off the mask.”
“I don’t want to,”I said through the mask.
“It’s not really a choice, August.” she answered.
I didn’t say anything. I just kept looking down.
“August,” she said again. “Take it off, please.”
“Please don’t make me...”I said gently.
She looked at me carefully. Then she nodded. “Okay,” she said softly. “But after class, okay?” I nodded.
We should be working in groups, but I just sat at my desk. That’s when I heard Julian talking to his friends. He didn’t know I could hear him.
“Why does he even come here?”Julian whispered.
“If I looked like him, I think I’d like to hide from everyone,” he said.
I felt like I’d been kicked in the chest. I couldn’t breathe. I don’t remember much else. I just remember sitting in the nurse’s office, waiting for Mom to come to pick me up. I told the nurse I had a stomachache, which wasn’t really a lie.
When Mom came, she just hugged me without a word. At home, I finally told her what Julian had said. She held me tight and said, “You never have to hide from those who love you. ”In her arms, with my mask beside me, I felt like maybe tomorrow could be different.

【解析】37.细节理解题。根据第三段中“I saw Julian and his friends laughing at a little kid whose costume was unfolding. ‘Look, it’s the hidden man!’ Julian said. The kid’s face got all red and he walked away faster.”以及第四段中“I suddenly didn’t feel like taking off my mask. In homeroom, no one said anything about me keeping it on. It was like I wasn’t even there. And for the first time, that felt…good.”可知,August在看到Julian嘲笑别人后,感到戴上面具更舒服、更自在。故选B。
38.词句猜测题。根据划线词上文“We should be working in groups, but I just sat at my desk. That’s when I heard Julian talking to his friends. He didn’t know I could hear him.”以及下文“‘If I looked like him, I think I’d like to hide from everyone,’ he said.”并结合上下文可知,这句话出现在August在科学课上坚持不摘面具,并听到Julian与朋友私下交谈的情节中,再结合母亲对他的宽慰可知,“he”指代的是August本人。故选D。
39.推理判断题。根据第三段中“But as soon as I got to school, everything felt different. I saw Julian and his friends laughing at a little kid whose costume was unfolding. ‘Look, it’s the hidden man!’ Julian said.”以及第四段中“I suddenly didn’t feel like taking off my mask.”可知,这一场景刻画了Julian的不友善形象,解释了August为何感到不安、不愿摘下面具。故选C。
40.推理判断题。根据August听到Julian嘲笑他长相后“I felt like I’d been kicked in the chest. I couldn’t breathe.”等强烈反应可知,他非常在意他人的看法;且全文围绕他因外貌而隐藏自我的心理展开。B选项“August非常在意别人对他的看法。”是合理的推断。故选B。

A. B.
C. D.
A. B.
C. D.
Passage 5
①Have you ever thought about what a building can say? Our homes, schools, and parks are all built for living in. But at the World Expo (世博会) in Osaka 2025, the China Pavilion (展馆) shows us that a building can also be a beautiful piece of art. It tells stories of culture, nature, and the future.
②This amazing pavilion is called the “Chinese Book Scroll (书卷) ” because it looks like an ancient bamboo book that has been unrolled (展开的). Its walls are decorated with graceful calligraphy (书法) of famous Chinese poems, making the building itself a giant piece of cultural art.
③So, what is the story behind this design? Its main idea is “Building a Community of Life for Man and Nature”. This comes from an old Chinese theory—man is part of nature. Inside, you can see this idea coming to life through a beautiful digital display of the 24 Solar Terms (节气) , which shows how ancient Chinese people lived with the rhythms of the natural world.
④ ▲ You can see real moon soil collected by China’s space missions and even chat with an AI Monkey King that understands many languages. Friendly smart robots perform dances, making your visit fun and interactive.
⑤“What I see in the pavilion leaves me with a deep impression (印象)!” A young Chinese visitor said with pride. “It makes me so proud. I can see our culture and technology shining here on the world stage.” Meanwhile, a foreign tourist from Canada shared that the pavilion helped him understand the beauty of Chinese culture better and it built a stronger link between our world and China.
⑥The China Pavilion is more than just a show. It creates a beautiful dream where the past and future meet, inviting everyone to think about a greener and more harmonious (和谐的) world.
17.What may the designer of the China Pavilion agree with?
A.A building should create a community of life for humans and nature.
B.A building should just provide fun and exciting activities for visitors.
C.A building should protect the oldest books and stories from the past.
D.A building should only focus on the latest technology and inventions.
18.Which of the following sentences can be put into ▲ ?

Look out the window, dear, at the last ivy leaf on the wall. Didn’t you wonder why it never moved when the wind blew?”
