Period 5 Using Language (Ⅱ) 写作培优课 Learning Aims(学习目标) 1.Learn to write an application letter (and a CV). 2.Practice writing one.(重点难点) 目标一 写作要领 技法指导 本单元的写作任务是写一封求职信,是求职者以书信的方式自我举荐的一种文体。写求职信时应该紧扣用人单位的录用标准,表达自己的求职动机和优势。在用词方面要言简意赅,直截了当。 求职信一般分为三部分: 第一部分:开头称呼语及说明申请的具体理由,如见广告应征、熟人介绍等。 第二部分:主体部分,即介绍个人的情况。个人的基本情况一般包括:个人信息、工作经历、个人技能等。 第三部分:结束语。希望对方积极考虑,尽早答复或同意请求。 【常用句型】 开头语: 1.I learned from your advertisement that you are in need of a(n)... 2.Having known that your office needs a(n)...I would like to apply for the post. 3.I'm interested in the post which you advertised in yesterday's China Daily. 4. Yours, Li Hua “4法”破译长难句 方法一 据谓语,找主语 一般情况下,一个谓语形式的动词对应其动作的发出者(主语),我们可以根据谓语动词来确定其主语。而且,如果一个句子中出现两个或两个以上的谓语形式的动词,则该句可能是并列句或复合句(并列谓语动词的情况除外)。例如: People feared that weakening a 21­year­old ban on the sale of ivory would encourage illegal hunting and hurt elephant populations. 【分析】that引导宾语从句,从句中谓语动词是encourage和hurt,根据逻辑关系可知,encourage和hurt的主语是动名词短语weakening a 21­year­old ban on the sale of ivory。 【句意】二十一年来,象牙交易一直被明令禁止,人们担心削弱这一禁令会助长非法捕猎,导致大象数量减少。 方法二 提主干,去枝叶 一般情况下,一个句子中的主句所表达的信息为主要信息,从句、状语和定语等所表达的信息为次要信息。若句子的主干提炼不出来,就不能完全把握句子的核心意义,从而导致思维混乱,主次不分。例如: Economists from the University of Sussex analysed findings from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, a 15­year research project charting the fortunes of a group of thousands of teenagers who attended high schools in the US in the mid­1990s. 【分析】句子主干为Economists analysed findingso from the university of Sussex作Economists的定语;from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health作findings的定语;a 15­year research project作the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health的同位语;charting...作project的定语;who引导定语从句修饰teenagers。 【句意】来自苏塞克斯大学的经济学家们分析了国家青少年健康纵向研究的研究结果.这项研究是一个历时15年的课题,它记录了数千名20世纪90年代中期在美国上中学的一组青少年的财产情况。 方法三 寻关联,辨逻辑 一些长句其实是由若干分句组成的并列句或复合句。而这些并列句或复合句之间需要一些关联词来连接。如果我们找准这些关联词,就能够弄清楚句与句之间的逻辑关系,弄清楚主句的意义和各从句的意义,则长句就容易理解了。要掌握此方法必须对英语中常见的关联词熟记于心。例如: Whether you get along well with your professors or not has a huge effect on your self­growth as it is a measure of how well you can respect authority and obey requirements. 【分析】此句为复合句,句中whether引导主语从句,as引导原因状语从句,how well引导的宾语从句作介词of的宾语。 【句意】你与教授相处是否融洽对你的自身成长有巨大的影响,因为这是衡量你是否尊重权威和服从要求的标准。 方法四 看搭配,防分隔 有时一个长句或难句是由一个或多个搭配构成的,而且这些搭配中常常出现分隔现象。我们若受分隔现象的干扰而看不清句子的本来面目,则对句意的理解就会发生偏差。例如: 1.What would doctors say,for example,to a 46­year­old man coming in for a physical check up just before going on vacation with his family who, though he feels in good health, is found to have a form of disease that will cause him to die within six months. 【分析】本句的主干为What would doctors say...,for example为插入语,to a 46­year­old man coming in for a physical check up just before going on vacation with his family介词短语作状语,who,though he feels in good health,is found to have a form of disease that will cause him to die within six months包含两个定语从句,中间夹杂一个让步状语从句though he feels in good health。 【句意】举例说吧:一个46岁的男子,在与家人外出度假之前进行体检。虽然他自我感觉良好,但医生发现他患了某种形式的疾病,不超过6个月就会死去,这时,医生该怎样对他讲呢? 2.First put forward by the French mathematician Pierre de Format in the seventeenth century, the theorem had baffled and beaten the finest mathematical minds,including a French woman scientist who made a major advance in working out the problem, and who had to dress like a man in order to be able to study at the Ecolab poly technique. 【分析】the theorem had baffled and beaten the finest mathematical minds是句子的主干,First put forward by the French mathematician Pierre de Format in the seventeenth century是过去分词作状语,who made a major advance in working out the problem和who had to dress like a man in order to be able to study at the Ecolab poly technique为两个who引导的定语从句。 【句意】这个定理,先是由17世纪法国数学家皮尔法特提出,曾使一批杰出的数学大师为难,包括一位法国女科学家,她在解决这个难题方面取得了重大的进展,为了能够在伊科尔理工学院学习她曾女扮男装。 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
