Lantau Path This 4.5km path is regarded as a challenging route requiring an average of 2h 32min to complete. During the trial, you will be able to reach the highest mountain — Lantau Peak. It’s recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks, and firm footwear, and set off early in good weather. Ngong Ping Village Path This 1.9km route takes an average of 30min to complete, which explains its easy-to-finish nature. Ngong Ping Village has the largest Buddhism statues of its kind in the world. But you don’t need to be a Buddhist to enjoy a morning at the Tian Tan Buddha. It’s best to start off in the morning, but avoid a foggy or cloudy day. Sha Tin Path It takes about 1h 47min to finish this moderately challenging 6.6km route: This path features Hong Kong’s most unusual temple, the largest museum, and best shopping malls. Sha Tin may be not on most visitors’ travel lists, but for those with more than a short 3 or 4 days stay in HK, it can prove to be a very rewarding day trip. Cheung Chau Path As a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3h 8min to complete 11.7km. Cheung Chau has been a major fishing port for centuries and still has a large fishing fleet. The scenic ferry journey is one of the highlights of visiting this island. 21. What do Ngong Ping Village Path and Sha Tin Path have in common? A. They are physically demanding. B. They are for experienced walkers. C. They have a religious atmosphere. D. They include guided tours for visitors. 22. What can you experience during the Cheung Chau Path? A. Appreciate fishing scenery. B. Buy meaningful souvenirs. C. Visit local museums. D. Enjoy peak scenery. 23. Where is the text most probably taken from? A. A HK geography essay. 根据Ngong Ping Village Path部分中“Ngong Ping Village has the largest Buddhism statues of its kind in the world.(昂坪村拥有世界上最大的佛教雕像)”和Sha Tin Path部分中“This path features Hong Kong’s most unusual temple(这条路径以香港最不寻常的寺庙为特色)”可知,这两条徒步路径的共同之处在于它们都具有宗教氛围。 根据Cheung Chau Path部分中“Cheung Chau has been a major fishing port for centuries and still has a large fishing fleet. The scenic ferry journey is one of the highlights of visiting this island.(长洲几个世纪以来一直是一个主要的渔港,至今仍有一支庞大的渔船队。风景优美的渡轮之旅是游览这个岛屿的亮点之一)”可知,在长洲徒步路径中,游客可以欣赏到渔港的景色。故选A项。 B I’ve always treated baking like a science experiment. I measure every ingredient to the gram, follow recipes strictly word for word, and never go against the instructions — even a tiny bit more flour or a few extra seconds of mixing feels like a risk to me. My cakes turn out perfectly neat, with smooth cream and uniform layers, but they never have that warm, homemade taste of my grandmother’s desserts. I always blame it on “secret family recipes” and the hidden touches added by Grandma, which I’ve never been able to copy. So I keep on measuring carefully, and believe that precision is the key to good baking. Last month, I was making chocolate chip cookies for my little sister’s birthday when the power went out halfway through. The electric mixer stopped working, so I had to do the mixture by hand; the scale was useless without power, so I guessed the amounts of sugar and flour. Worse still, I ran out of vanilla sugar, so I used some dried fruit bits instead in a hurry, sure that the whole lot would be ruined. When the power came back, I put the thick, rough mixture on the baking tray, fully expecting to throw the cookies away. But when they came out of the oven, they were golden around the edges, chewy in the middle, and smelled just like the cookies my grandma used to make. My sister took a bite and said they were the best I’d ever baked. Staring at these rough, imperfect cookies, I suddenly realized that I’d been so busy chasing “perfection” that I’d forgotten baking is about heart, not just accurate measurements. 24. Why does the author measure ingredients precisely when baking? A. To test scientific baking methods. B. To avoid any possible mistakes in baking. C. To make desserts look more appealing. D. To copy his grandmother’s baking style. 25. What happened when the author was making birthday cookies? A. The oven broke down completely. B. The author lost the secret family recipe. C. A sudden power cut interrupted baking. D. Guests complained about the taste. 26. How did the author feel when problems arose during baking? A. Annoyed and at a loss. B. Excited and full of expectation. C. Calm and willing to try actively. D. Anxious and convinced of failure. 27. What lesson did the author learn from the incident? A. Creativity is the key to successful baking. B. Accurate measurements mean nothing in baking. C. Sincerity matters more than accuracy in baking. D. Expert skills help overcome baking difficulties. B 25. C 26. D 27. 根据文章第一段“I measure every ingredient to the gram, follow recipes strictly word for word, and never go against the instructions—even a tiny bit more flour or a few extra seconds of mixing feels like a risk to me.(每种材料我都精确到克,配方必须逐字遵守,从不违背步骤指引——哪怕多加一丁点面粉或多搅拌几秒,对我来说都像在冒险。)” 根据文章第三段“Last month, I was making chocolate chip cookies for my little sister’s birthday when the power went out halfway through.(上个月为妹妹准备生日巧克力曲奇时,中途突然停电。)” 根据文章第三段“Worse still, I ran out of vanilla sugar, so I used some dried fruit bits instead in a hurry, sure that the whole lot would be ruined.(更糟的是香草糖用完,情急之下抓了把果干碎代替——当时认定这锅肯定毁了。)”及第四段“When the power came back, I put the thick, rough mixture on the baking tray, fully expecting to throw the cookies away.(恢复供电后,我把那坨粗厚不平的面团扔进烤盘,已做好全部丢弃的心理准备。)” 根据文章第四段“Staring at these rough, imperfect cookies, I suddenly realized that I’d been so busy chasing “perfection” that I’d forgotten baking is about heart, not just accurate measurements.(凝视着这些粗犷而不完美的饼干,我突然醒悟:自己追逐“精准”太久,却忘了烘焙的真谛不在毫厘不差,而在于手心传递的温度。)” C。 C A simple piece of clotheslines hangs between some environmentally friendly Americans and their neighbors. On one side stand those who see clothes dryers as a waste of energy and a major polluter of the environment. As a result, they are turning to clotheslines as part of the "what-I-can- do environmentalism” But on the other side are people who are against drying clothes outside, arguing that clotheslines are unpleasant to look at. They have persuaded Homeowners Associations(HOAs) across the US to stop outdoor clotheslines, because clothesline drying also tends to lower home value in the neighborhood. This has led to a Right-to-Dry Movement that is calling for laws be passed to protect the choice to use clotheslines. So far, only three states have laws to protect clotheslines. Matt Reck, 37, is the kind of eco-friendly person who feeds his trees with bathwater and reuses water drops from his air conditioners to water plants. His family also uses a clothesline. But several days ago, the HOA in North Carolina told him that a dissatisfied neighbor had telephoned them about his clothesline. The Recks paid no attention to the warning and still dried their clothes on a line in the yard "Many people say they are environmentally friendly but they don't take matters in their own hands," says Reck. The local HOA has decided not to take any action, unless more neighbors complain. North Carolina lawmakers say that stopping clotheslines is not the right thing to do. But HOAs and housing businesses believe that clothesline drying reminds people of poor neighborhoods. They worry that if buyers think their future neighbors can" even afford dryers, housing prices will fall. Environmentalists say such worries are not necessary, and in view of global warming, that idea needs to change. As they say, "The clothesline is beautiful Hanging clothes outside should be encouraged. We all have to do at least something to slow down the process of global warming. 28. Supporters of clothes dryers are trying to stop clothesline drying because . A. clothes dryers can save money B. clothes dryers are energy-saving C. clothesline drying reduces home value D. clothesline drying is not allowed in US 29. Which of the following best describes Matt Reck? A. He is a warm-hearted man. B. He is an impolite neighbor. C. He is an inexperienced gardener. D. He is a man of social responsibility. 30 Who are most likely to support clothesline drying? A. Housing businesses. B. Environmentalists. C. Homeowners Associations. D. Reck's dissatisfied neighbors. 31. What could be the best title for the passage? A. Opposing Opinions on Clothesline Drying B. A Way to Save Energy and Money C. Different Varieties of Clotheslines D. A Lost Art to Be Discovered. 【答案】28. C 29. D 30. B 31. A 【解析】 【分析】这是一篇议论文。一条简单的晾衣绳引起了一些环保的美国人和他们的邻居之间的争议,有些人反对在室外晾晒衣服,他们认为晾衣绳看起来很难看,且会降低房屋价值,环保人士则认为晾衣绳很环保美观。文章还介绍了不同的人对此的看法。 【28题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“They have persuaded Homeowners Associations(HOAs) across the US to stop outdoor clotheslines, because clothesline drying also tends to lower home value in the neighborhood.(他们已经说服全美房主协会禁止户外晾衣绳,因为晾衣绳风干衣服也会降低附近地区的房屋价值)”可知,干衣机的支持者们正试图阻止晾衣绳,因为晾衣绳降低了房屋价值。故选C。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“Matt Reck, 37, is the kind of eco-friendly person who feeds his trees with bathwater and reuses water drops from his air conditioners to water plants.(37岁的Matt Reck是一个环保主义者,他用洗澡水喂他的树,并将空调上的水滴重复利用来浇灌植物)”以及“Many people say they are environmentally friendly but they don't take matters in their own hands(许多人说他们对环境很友好,但是他们并不自己动手去做对环境友好的事情)”可推知,Matt Reck是一个有社会责任感的人。故选D。 30题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Matt Reck, 37, is the kind of eco-friendly person who feeds his trees with bathwater and reuses water drops from his air conditioners to water plants. His family also uses a clothesline.( 37岁的Matt Reck是一个环保主义者,他用洗澡水喂他的树,并将空调上的水滴重复利用来浇灌植物。他家也用晾衣绳)”以及最后一段“Environmentalists say such worries are not necessary, and in view of global warming, that idea needs to change. As they say, "The clothesline is beautiful Hanging clothes outside should be encouraged. We all have to do at least something to slow down the process of global warming.( 环保人士说,这种担心是没有必要的,考虑到全球变暖,这种想法需要改变。 根据第一段“A simple piece of clotheslines hangs between some environmentally friendly Americans and their neighbors. On one side stand those who see clothes dryers as a waste of energy and a major polluter of the environment. As a result, they are turning to clotheslines as part of the "what-I-can- do environmentalism”(一条简单的晾衣绳悬挂在一些环保的美国人和他们的邻居之间。 A。 D Social media is taking over our lives, for example TikTok. These social media platforms have transformed from a way for people to stay connected to an industry where even kids can make money from their posts. While this may seem like another promising innovation, it’s really full of hidden false realities. In 2018, the average American income was about $63,000. However, TikTok users can get $50,000 to $150,000 for one video made for a brand. Those with over a million followers may make as much as $30,000 each month — much more than most working adults. This difference raises questions. The problem is not just about high pay for what some see as a simple job. It also builds false admiration and an untrue sense of reality among viewers. Many popular TikTokers are still teenagers, and becoming famous so young can lead to problems like poor mental health later. Since 27% of TikTok users are between 13 and 17 years old, they are easily influenced. They may start to measure their own worth by fame, money, and looks rather than real skills or hard work. TikTok can be useful for advertising, but its content may harm young people’s view of success. If they believe that being good-looking and posting a short video is all it takes to succeed, their own ideas about working hard could change. This also ignores people who work long hours at regular jobs for much less pay. Richard Colyer, head of Metaphor, Inc., shared his thoughts: “We should feed young people’s minds, not just their bank accounts. TikTok can be good if used in the right way. Money alone is not enough, technology alone is not enough, and being connected online can be harmful if it is only online.” As someone who also uses TikTok, I enjoy the app for fun in my free time. I do not think it is wrong to earn money through entertainment. But we should ask: what does becoming famous from a 15-second video really teach the young? 32. What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 1 refer to? A. Social networking. B. Making money on social media. C. A job offered by TikTok. D. Staying connected to the Internet. 33. Which is the possible influence of TikTok on its young users? A. They tend to live an adult life too soon. B. They are forced to pay for certain services. C. They may abandon other social media. D. They are likely to develop false values. 34. What can we infer from Richard Colyer’s comments? A. TikTok can be positive if used wisely. B. Young TikTokers should not earn money. C. Teens should learn useful skills via TikTok. D. Online videos need content checking first. 35. What is the author’s main purpose in writing this passage? A. To share personal fun experiences on TikTok. B. To warn about the hidden problems of social media fame. C. To explain how young people can make money online. D. To suggest ways to improve social media platforms. 【答案】32. B 33. D 34. A 35. B 【解析】 【导语】本文为一篇说明文。文章主要批判了以TikTok为代表的社交媒体在商业化和网红经济驱动下,对青少年价值观产生的扭曲影响,并呼吁社会关注其带来的精神危害而非仅仅看重经济利益。 【32题详解】 词句猜测题。根据文章划线词this前文的内容“These social media platforms have transformed from a way for people to stay connected to an industry where even kids can make money from their posts.(这些平台已从人际联结工具蜕变为连孩童都能靠发帖盈利的产业)”可知,此处划线词this指代前文“在社交媒体上赚钱” 这一现象,故选B。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第三段“They may start to measure their own worth by fame, money, and looks rather than real skills or hard work.(他们可能开始用名誉、金钱和容貌而非真才实干来衡量自我价值)” 可知,TikTok年轻用户可能会以名气、金钱和外貌衡量自身价值,形成错误价值观,故选D。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第五段“Richard Colyer, head of Metaphor, Inc., shared his thoughts: “We should feed young people’s minds, not just their bank accounts. TikTok can be good if used in the right way. Money alone is not enough, technology alone is not enough, and being connected online can be harmful if it is only online.”(Metaphor公司总裁Richard Colyer指出:“我们应滋养年轻人的思想,而非仅仅填充他们的钱包。正确使用TikTok固然有益,但金钱与技术本身并不足够,沉溺虚拟联结反而有害。”)”可知,Richard Colyer认为若合理使用,TikTok可产生积极作用,故选A。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第一段“Social media is taking over our lives, for example TikTok. These social media platforms have transformed from a way for people to stay connected to an industry where even kids can make money from their posts. While this may seem like another promising innovation, it’s really full of hidden false realities.(社交媒体正在接管我们的生活,以TikTok为例。 People perceive happiness differently, with some seeing the glass half full while others half empty. Sonja Lyubomirsky, a social psychologist, explained that happiness comprises positive emotions and life satisfaction. ____36____ She believes that we can change how we think and how we behave and also we can change our habits or develop a new habit. Happy people tend to have such certain habits. Go with the “flow”. Be absorbed in what you do. “When you’re so fully engaged in what you’re doing that you don’t notice the passage of time, you are in a state called ‘flow’, which is associated with joy,” Lyubomirsky explained. “____37____ On the contrary, try something as casual and relaxing as completing a group project at the office or enjoying a hobby with your partner.” ____38____ When it comes to your happiness level, personal relationships have a bigger impact than money, a job title or even your health. “Spending more quality time with your partner, spouse, or kids, or reconnecting with old friends, are sure-fire ways to increase your own and others’ average levels of joy.” Lyubomirsky said “pick a relationship in need of strengthening, and invest time and energy in healing, cultivating and enjoying it.” ____39____ Practice random acts of kindness and express gratitude. At 78, the retired nurse had spent every holiday alone for two decades — ever since his mother, his closest friend, passed away. “You’d make yourself a sad little ham sandwich, sit by the frosty window, and just watch the same old Christmas movies on repeat,” he revealed to Dan Walker, a presenter from BBC Breakfast, his voice cracking as he spoke about the loneliness that weighed on him each December. Even worse, his small house in Oldham had no Christmas tree; the empty corner by the fireplace only made the silence feel louder as carols (圣诞颂歌) drifted from neighboring homes. What Terrence didn’t know was that his heartfelt words had touched millions of TV viewers overnight. The next afternoon, as he stared blankly at the fireplace, there was a soft knock at his door. When he opened it, Dan Walker stood on the step, smiling warmly. “We heard you didn’t have a tree,” Dan said gently. Before Terrence could reply, he pushed the door open wider — and a stream of young people from Oldham College flooded in, carrying a tall evergreen tree, along with boxes of twinkling lights, shiny ribbons, and handcrafted decorations. “Y-you didn’t have to do this,” Terrence said shakily, wiping his misty eyes with a tissue. A girl with a red scarf handed him a mug of hot cocoa. “Mr. Walker said it’s the least we can do,” she said. “You volunteer with Age UK every week to help lonely people — now it’s our turn to help you.” 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 With mixed feelings, Terrence watched the students busy in his small house. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When all was done, Dan smiled and gestured for Terrence to come closer. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】With mixed feelings, Terrence watched the students busy in his small house. Some dragged the tree to the fireplace and set it up, while others unpacked the lights, shiny ribbons and delicate decorations, chatting and laughing as they hung everything onto the tree. The once quiet house was now filled with warmth and cheer. He clutched the hot cocoa mug tightly, the warmth spreading from his palms to his heart. For the first time in years, he felt a faint spark of excitement welling up. He hesitated briefly, then offered to help hang a glittering star ornament. After that, he retreated to a corner, leaving the students wrapping up the rest of the work. When all was done, Dan smiled and gestured for Terrence to come closer. Terrence took a few slow steps forward, and his breath caught in his throat at the sight before him. The Christmas tree stood tall by the fireplace, its branches wrapped in twinkling fairy lights and hung with shiny decorations and a golden star on top. The once-empty corner now glowed with cozy brightness, and the students had even laid a small pile of wrapped gifts at the tree’s base. He looked at the smiling faces around him, and tears of joy rolled down his cheeks—he finally felt the long-lost warmth of Christmas wrapping around his heart again. 词汇激活 行为类 ① 打开:unpacked/ unwrap ② 闲聊和微笑:chat and laugh/ chatter and giggle ③ 看着:look at/stare at 情绪类 ① 温暖:warmth/coziness/heartwarmth ② 喜悦:joy/delight/exhilaration 【点睛】[高分句型1]. C A simple piece of clotheslines hangs between some environmentally friendly Americans and their neighbors. On one side stand those who see clothes dryers as a waste of energy and a major polluter of the environment. As a result they are turning to clotheslines as part of the "what-I-can- do environmentalism” But on the other side are people who are against drying clothes outside, arguing that clotheslines are unpleasant to look at. 30. Who are most likely to support clothesline drying? A. Housing businesses. B. Environmentalists. C. Homeowners Associations. D. Reck's dissatisfied neighbors. 31. What could be the best title for the passage? A. Opposing Opinions on Clothesline Drying B. A Way to Save Energy and Money C. Different Varieties of Clotheslines D. A Lost Art to Be Discovered. D Social media is taking over our lives, for example TikTok. A Social networking. People perceive happiness differently with some seeing the glass half full while others half empty. “You volunteer with Age UK every week to help lonely people — now it’s our turn to help you.” With mixed feelings, Terrence watched the students busy in his small house. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When all was done, Dan smiled and gestured for Terrence to come closer. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 新年伊始 万象更新 开心进步 圆梦南实 All us English teachers will be accompanying you all the way to your final success! mrs.
