With a long history, hot pot is still the most popular kind of food in China, according to a survey by the consumer review (消费者评论) website Dianping. com. There are about 350,000 hot pot restaurants around the country, the largest number of all kinds of restaurants.
When enjoying a hot pot meal, people sit around a table and eat delicious food from a steaming pot. There are many kinds of soup bases to choose from: spicy (辣), mushroom and tomato. Usually a hot pot has two parts inside. One side is spicy, while the other side is not so spicy. So everyone can choose what they like. Otherwise, it will lose its taste. You needn't have great cooking skills to enjoy hot pot, either. When the food is ready, take it out and put it in different sauces to give it a special flavor (风味). Some also drink the soup from the pot.

Along a mountain road, a handsome young man walks fast. An older man with a strict face follows him. This is from my favourite film, Postmen in the Mountains. It’s a story about the love between father and son.
For years, the father worked as the postman for this area. He didn’t often go back home and the son seldom saw him. But now the son is taking over his father’s job. The father goes with him on his first day of work. Along the way, they start to see into each other’s hearts.
For the first time, the son carries his father across a cold river. It brings back the father’s memory of carrying the son on his back. Tears quietly run down his face.
This film shows a traditional Chinese father. He is happy about his son’s growth. But he just hides his care in his heart. He doesn’t give hugs or kisses to his son. His love may be silent. But like a mountain, it is always there.
13 How does the writer start the article?
A. By answering a question. B. By doing a survey.
C. By taking an example. D. By describing a scene.
14. What did the father do in the film?
A. A fireman. B. A postman. C. A fisherman. D. A bus driver.
15. Why did the older man cry?
A. Because his legs got hurt in the river.
B. Because he couldn’t work anymore.
C. Because his son got a wonderful job.
D. Because he remembered something before.
16. What’s the best title for the article?
A A Young Postman’s First Trip. B. A Traditional Chinese Father.
C. Silent Love in a Postman Family. D. Memories of a Young Man.

There is a Chinese idiom (习语) “taolimantianxia”, referring to (关于) a teacher who has taught so many successful students. His students usually spread across the country like peach and plum (李子) trees. Why are students compared (被比作) to these two kinds of trees?
The idiom comes from Zizhi, an official (大臣) who lived in the state of Wei during the Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC—476 BC). Zizhi was a knowledgeable (知识渊博的) person. But the king didn’t like him at the time, so he had to leave his state. To make a living, he opened a private (私人的) school and started to teach students.
As a teacher, Zizhi was kind and wise, he chose students regardless of (不论) their wealth or social status (财富或社会地位). He often pointed at a peach and a plum tree in his yard when asking his students to work hard. “You should become a useful person and do work to benefit society (使社会受益), just like when the peach and plum trees bloom and yield (产出) fruit,” he said.
Keeping these words in their minds, many of Zizhi’s students went on to different places around the country, getting great things along the way. They would plant peach and plum trees to show their respect (尊敬) for their teacher.
When Zizhi traveled around the country and saw his students and the trees they planted, he was very happy. “My students are like peach and plum trees. They are everywhere, and they have got great results.”
Since then, we use “peach and plum trees” to refer to successful students in their post-study.
