专题十 名词性从句
1.名词性从句的语序
名词性从句应使用陈述句语序,即“从句引导词+主语+谓语+其他”。
What he said is what I need .
他所说的正是我需要的。
Can you tell me who the man over there is ?
你能告诉我那边那个人是谁吗?
2.what的用法
what表示“……的东西/事物”,可用于引导主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句和同

位语从句,在从句中可用作主语、表语、宾语或定语。

知识拓展 特殊疑问句作believe、imagine、guess、suppose、expect、think等词的宾
语时,需要将特殊疑问词置于句首。
What do you suppose made him so annoyed?是将Do you suppose what made him so annoyed?中的
what提前而来。
3.that的用法
that可用于引导主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句和同位语从句,没有实际意义,只
起连接作用,不在从句中作成分。

that some t'ai chi moves are named after animals .
中国武术有模仿动物的悠久传统,因此一些太极拳动作以动物命名也就不足为奇了。

②动词后有多个that引导的宾语从句时,只有第一个that可以省略,从第二个从句开始,
that不可省略。

4.whether与if
whether可用于引导主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句和同位语从句。
if主要用于引导及物动词后的宾语从句,有时可用于引导主语从句(只能置于句
末)。
易混易错 用whether不用if的情况
①引导介词后的宾语从句、表语从句、同位语从句时。
It all depends on whether the sky will clear up.(介词后的宾语从句)这完全取决于天是否会放晴。
The question is whether the film is well worth seeing.(表语从句)问题是这部电影是否很值得看。
They raised the question whether we ought to call in a specialist.(同位语从句)
他们提出了我们是否应请专家来的问题。
②引导主语从句,且从句置于句首时。
Whether it is true remains a problem.
这是否属实仍然是个问题。
③后紧跟or not时。
Can you tell me whether or not the train has left?
你能告诉我火车是否已经开了吗?
Please tell me if/whether you will go to the lectures tomorrow or not .请告诉我你明天是否去听讲座。
(当or not不紧跟在后面时,whether和if均可使用)
5.because的用法
because常用于引导表语从句,且常用于“It/This/That is because...”结构。
This is because people believe in the importance of carrying on space exploration despite
the huge risks.这是因为尽管有巨大的风险,人们还是相信进行太空探索的重要性。
注意 当主句主语是reason或cause时,表语从句不能用because引导,而要用that引导,即
“The reason is that...”。
6.who/what/which与whoever/whatever/whichever
who、what、which分别表示“谁”“……的东西/事情”“哪一个/哪些”,含有
疑问意义;而whoever、whatever、whichever分别相当于anyone who、anything that和
any...that,意为“无论……”,强调一切情况。
To improve the quality of our products, we asked for suggestions whoever had used
the products. 为提高我们产品的质量,我们向使用过这些产品的人征求建议。

7.同位语从句
同位语从句通常用于对主句中的某一名词进行解释,说明其具体内容。同位语从
句通常由that引导。常见的可以被同位语从句修饰的有:
advice建议 chance可能性 demand要求
desire愿望,渴望 doubt怀疑 evidence证据
fact事实 hope希望 idea想法
information消息 news消息 possibility可能
problem问题 proof证明 suggestion建议
thought思想 truth真理 word消息
