The bell rang, and the students of Class Three slowly took their seats. It seemed like an
ordinary Monday moming.But today,their teacher,Miss Lema,had something special
planned.
She entered the classroom,carrying a large cardboard box."Good momning,everyone!
Today,we're going to do something a little different,"she said.Setting the box on her desk, she
began handing out the white masks (and some colorful markers.
"Here's what I want you to do,"she said."On the outside, decorate your mask to show
how you want others to see you.Use any colors or symbols you like.Inside, write one thing
about yourself that most people don't know."
At first, some students laughed, showing their masks to others or making jokes about silly
designs. But as minutes passed, the laughter softened.Something about the task made everyone
thoughtful.
Emma, who was always cheerful and full of jokes, drew a shining yellow sun in the bright
blue sky.Inside,she carefully wrote:Sometimes I'm afraid that if I'm not funny,people won't
like me.
Jack,a quiet boy who seldom spoke up,painted calm blue waves across his mask.Inside,
he wrote:I miss my dad a lot.I don't talk about it.
When everyone finished,Miss Lema asked them to pass their masks around the room.

Miss Lema looked around and said gently,"We all wear masks sometimes. We hide how
we really feel because we're afraid people might not understand. But when we share our true
selves,we become closer. That's where kindness begins."
After that day,Class Three was never quite the same as before. The students spoke more

Could a snail help people see again?Scientists think so.Golden apple
snails, originally from South America, have an amazing ability-if one of
their eyes is removed, they can regrow a fully working new eye within a few
months. This discovery is giving hope to those with eye problems.
a snail
For a study reported in Nature Communications, researcher Alice Accorsi and her team
studied how these snails regrew their "camera-like"eyes-similar in structure to human eyes.
This similarity is key.If researchers can work out how these snails rebuild their eyes,it might
lead to new ways to repair human eyes or treat diseases that make people slowly lose their
初三英语试卷第5页(共10页)
eyesight.
To dig deeper,Accorsi uscd a powerful tool called CRISPR/Cas9.She used it to turn off
spccific genes in the snails that arc important for eye development.By seeing what
happens when a gene is off,she could leam its role in eye growth. This has made the snails
"model organisms"-living tools that scicntists can use to learn about human biology.
Normally, developing such models takes a long time, but Accorsi made it in just a few years,
speeding up the research.
The big question is:Why can't humans regrow eyes?Humans and snails share many of
the same genes for eye development. The secret might be in the "switches ()that control
these genes-tuming them on and off at the right time.Snails seem to have the right
“switches,.”but humans may have lost them.
As a researcher puts it,understanding the snails'eye regrowth is like leamning a"musical
score(乐谱).”The snails'genes are the“instruments'”,and humans have many of the same
ones. The challenge is finding the right"director"to tell the genes when to play the "song".
Once that's found,it could unlock new ways to repair human eyes.
However, this doesn't mean that human eye problems can be solved in the near future."If
we truly want to achieve eye regrowth in humans,"says an expert,"we still need to make sure
we can exactly control the process and make it safe for use in humans."
27.Why are golden apple snails special?
A.They are originally from South America
B.They can repair human eyes on their own.
C.They can regrow a new eye after losing one.
D.Their eyes are exactly the same as humans'
28.What is mentioned in Paragraph 3 about Accorsi's study?
A.Its research process
B.Its future challenges.
C.Its unsolved problems.
D.Its background information.
29.What is the writer's main purpose in writing this passage?
A.To show the amazing abilities of snails.
B.To prove humans can regrow eyes soon.
C.To explain how CRISPR technology works in the study.
D.To tell snail research could help with humans'eye treatments.

As artificial intelligence(Al)becomes more common in creative work, people are asking
an important qucstion:Is Al actually helping to improve human creativity,or might it be
harming it?Reccnt studies show that the answer isn't simple-AI helps in some ways but
causes problems in others.
To understand how AI ideas influence human creativity, researchers did an experiment
involving over 800 pcople from 40 countrics. In the experiment, people were asked to think of
new uses for common objects like a piece of paper or a cup. Before coming up with their own
ideas, they were shown some example ideas. Some pcople were shown with the examples all
given by humans while others were exposed to some or all the examples provided by AI.The
goal was to see how these different situations would influence the creativity and variety
of the ideas people produced.
The experiment showed several interesting findings.First, viewing AI ideas did change
what people created, but it didn't make their ideas better-just different.Second, when the
groups saw lots of AI examples, they came up with more kinds of ideas overall. This shows that
AI can help the groups think of more diverse solutions when working together.Third,AI
examples helped stop the groups from getting stuck (on the same ideas-instead,they
continued to generate (new and different ideas over time.Finally,self-confidence matters.
People who saw themselves as very creative were less influenced by knowing whether an idea
came from AI or human.Their belief in their own creativity seemed to protect them from being
overly influenced by AI ideas.
However, there was also a worrying finding. When creative tasks became difficult, people
were more likely to copy AI ideas more often. This suggests we might become too dependent
on AI for challenging creative work.
So what do these mean to us?AI can be useful for helping groups generate more different
kinds of ideas and avoid creativity blocks, but it doesn't make each person more creative. This
means we should have a balanced way-use AI as a helpful partner while still developing our
own imagination and creative abilities. As AI continues to grow, learning to use it wisely will
be an important skill for all of us.
30.What is true about the experiment according to Paragraph 2?
A.Not all the example ideas in it were provided by AI.
B.Common objects couldn't be used to test creativity.
C.800 people viewed AI's ideas before the experiment.
D.People needed to compare their own ideas with AI's.

31.What docs the word"diverse"in Paragraph 3 most probably mean?
A.Creative.
B.Different.
C.Strange
D.Acceptable.
32.According to the passage, what is a good example of using AI wisely?
A.Avoiding using Al in difficult situations.
B.Letting Al decide once we meet problems.
C.Believing in ourselves instead of trusting Al.
D.Asking AI for ideas but finishing the task on our own.
33.Which of the following is the best title for this passage?
A.The Harm of AI on Human Crcativity
B.AI's Role in Performing Creative Tasks
C.The Benefits of Al to Creative Thinking
D.The Influence of AI on Human Creativity
第二部分
本部分共5题,共20分。根据题目要求,完成相应任务。
四、阅读表达(第34-36题每题2分,第37题4分,共10分)
Have you ever bought something without knowing what's inside? That's the fun of blind
boxes-small,unopened packages that hide collectable toys or figures().You don't know
which one you'll get until you open it.It's just this kind of surprising joy that makes blind
boxes so popular among teenagers and young adults.
Each blind box belongs to a themed series, such as lovely animals, cartoon characters,or
cute food items. All the boxes look the same from the outside, but inside lies a surprise. Some
figures are common, while others are uncommon and hard to find. Many collectors feel excited
every time they open a box, hoping to get that special figure they've been searching for.
However, blind boxes are not just about the toys-they're also about the experience.
Collectors often meet and exchange figures in stores and share their excitement together. Some
even record unboxing videos and post them on social media. For many, collecting blind boxes
becomes a way to express creativity and personality. They decorate their rooms with their
favorite figures, design small shelves for display,or use them in art projects.Through this
shared interest,a small and friendly community is formed.
But the excitement can become addictive ()which is the main problem of buying
blind boxes.Since you never know what's inside,it's easy to keep buying"just one more"box,
hoping to find the uncommon one. Some people end up spending more than they planned
初三英语试卷第8页(共10页)
That's why it's important to sct a budget (and always remind yourself that collecting
should bring joy,not pressure and waste.
Blind boxes have become an important part of modern pop culture,combining()art,
design, and curiosity together in one small package.Whether you collect them or simply watch
unboxing vidcos online, they remind us of the joy of discovery.Sometimes, the best part of life
is the unknown-the little surprises waiting to be opened. As long as we open them with care,
patience, and self-control,blind boxes can bring fun and creativity to our everyday lives.
34.What makes blind boxes popular among young adults?
35.According to the writer, what are blind boxes about?
36.What is the main problem of buying blind boxes?
37.Is it necessary to set a budget before buying blind boxes? Why?(Please give two reasons.)
