I’m Dr. David Picken and I have one of the coolest jobs on and off the earth. I’m a flight surgeon, or an astronaut doctor, at NASA Johnson Space Center, in Houston, Texas.
Growing up, I wanted to be a doctor. I also wanted to be a pilot. At a career fair in college, I saw a poster which was a person climbing into an airplane. The poster said that this person’s job was to be a flight surgeon. I thought, “Cool! I can be a doctor and I get to fly!”
After graduating from a medical school, I did six months of extra training to learn about all the ways that flying can affect the human body. Different forces act differently on the body in the air than on the ground. They can affect the concentration (浓度) of oxygen you are breathing. This can affect how well your mind works. All of these things can change a pilot’s ability to safely fly the aircraft.
This is where the flight surgeon comes in. We take care of them when they get sick or injured. A flight surgeon’s job is to keep a pilot doing his or her job: flying.
As a flight surgeon, I also get a chance to fly. I get a firsthand understanding of all those effects on the body, and that makes me better take care of my patients. And it’s fun to fly! That brings me to my new job, as a flight surgeon at NASA (美国宇航局), where I take care of astronauts. In space, there are other effects on the body, such as zero gravity. This firstly affects your balance system, so it’s common for astronauts to feel a little seasick in their first couple of days. While astronauts are in space, we watch and talk to them from Mission Control (任务控制中心) to help take care of their health. After they return to the earth, we look after them and guide their reconditioning. We also work with the engineers who design spaceships. We’re part of a big team that gets astronauts to space and home safely.
It’s a pretty cool job to help get someone ready to fly to space, take care of them while they’re out there, and see them when they come home.
24. Why does the writer want to be a flight surgeon?
A. He likes doing operations on the plane. B. He wants to help the plane work safely.
C. He likes training doctors on the plane. D. He likes flying and also wants to be a doctor.
25. What can the writer do as a flight surgeon?
A. He can fly to space with the astronauts in the spaceship.
B. He can change the concentration of oxygen the pilots breathe in.
C. He can take care of the pilots’ and astronauts’ health.
D. He can drive the spaceship when the astronauts feel seasick.
26. The writer thinks his work is ______.
A. easy but boring B. hard and dangerous
C. important and helpful D. tiring but interesting
C
A recent study by Arber Tasimi, a graduate student at Yale University and Liane Young, a professor at Boston College, found that kids who do good and think back on it are driven to do more and more good. As Tasimi says, “These findings show that something as simple as asking children to reflect (反思) on their past good deeds (行为) has positive effects on children’s behavior.”
To carry out the study, the researchers recruited (招募) 225 children aged six to eight. They gave each child five stickers and divided them into different groups: Some children recalled a time they were nice to someone (the nice group); others recalled a time they were mean (刻薄的) to someone or when someone was nice to them. As a comparison, another group of kids was asked about a time they watched a movie.
The researchers then showed the children an image of a fictitious (假想的) character, Gary, who had no stickers. Children were asked whether they wanted to give Gary any of their five stickers, and those in the nice group gave the most stickers. In other words, these children behaved more generously (慷慨地) compared to their peers in the other groups.
“Recalling one’s own positive behaviors—rather than recalling positive behaviors more generally—increases generosity in children” the researchers conclude.
As the researchers note, after adults have performed a number of good deeds—thus accruing (积累) “moral credit”-they cut back on their generosity. Would children behave meanly after they recalled some examples of their goodness?
To explore this possibility, the researchers asked another group of children to remember three different times when they were nice to someone. They found that these children behaved just as generously as those who had recalled a single example of their past goodness; children, it seems, don’t give out good deeds in a calculating (计算) way.
If parents want to raise kind children, this study suggests, they can reinforce (强化) good behavior by praising their children’s past kindnesses and offering gentle reminders when they’re deciding whether to share.
In the future, Tasimi hopes to find out other factors that lead children to do greater good. He is especially interested in examining the role of peer influence on children’s generosity. He says kids are probably more likely to copy a classmate’s fashion choices than Dad’s. In other words, children could be positive role models for each other.
27. The researchers divided the children into different groups to find out _____.
A. why they are mean to Gary. B. who can recall their past kindnesses.
C. how to get the most stickers. D. what can increase children’s generosity.
28. According to the writer, who is probably the most generous?
A. The boy who has got help from his neighbors.
B. The boy who has ever seen his parents’ past goodness.
C. The boy whose parents often ask him to be nice to others.
D. The boy whose parents often tell stories about his kind acts in the past.
29. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Recalling others’ positive behaviors rather than their own can improve generosity.
B. Recalling children’s own kindness can help them do greater good.
C. Children behave meanly after recalling many examples of their goodness.
D. Parents’ behavior has a greater influence on children than their peers’.
D
As AI becomes more popular in education, some argue that AI expands (扩大) creative potential (潜力), while others fear it prevents originality (独创性). One of the biggest concerns about AI in education is that it can discourage deep thinking. Since AI generates (产生) content based on existing (现存的) data, students who over-rely on (依赖) it may produce work that has no originality. Over time, relying too heavily on AI could weaken critical thinking skills and may even make students lose confidence in their own creative abilities.
On the other hand, AI can be a powerful tool for expanding creative potential. One of AI’s greatest strengths is its ability to generate new ideas. When students face creative blocks, AI can provide prompts (提示) or suggest new ideas that they might not have considered.
One study examined 225 university students who were assigned a creative writing task. Half used AI for assistance (帮助), while the other half worked without AI. One of the key findings was that students who used AI produced more creative outputs compared to those who didn’t. AI helped students explore new ideas, refine their writing, and experiment with new structures or concepts. They also found that it reduced the difficulty and effort required for creative tasks. Having AI assist them made the process smoother and easier.
However, while AI improved the quality of creative work, it also diminished the value and enjoyment of the creative process itself. Many students reported feeling less engaged (专注) or emotionally connected to their work when AI was heavily involved (参与的). Moreover, some students felt uneasy about relying on AI for creative tasks, questioning whether AI-generated assistance was a form of “cheating” or if it was weakening their personal effort.
For AI to be a part of education, it should be a thinking partner, not just a tool for quick solutions. Teachers can encourage students to engage in a back-and-forth dialogue with AI, for example, by refining ideas and challenging responses, rather than simply copying AI-generated content. Focus on the creative process, not the final product. Creativity isn’t just about the end result-it’s about the personal journey of exploration, struggle, and discovery. Teachers could require students to take down their brainstorming process, showing how they used AI and how it influenced their work. Students need to understand how AI works, its biases, and its limitations and ensure they engage with AI in a responsible and meaningful way.
AI has the potential to both hinder (阻碍) and raise creativity, depending on how it is used. The key is responsible and intentional use. AI should support students, not replace their creative efforts. By teaching students how to use AI as a tool, we can ensure that AI empowers the next generation of creative thinkers instead of limiting their potential.
30. What is the study mainly about?
A. Reasons for students to use AI. B. AI’s working process for helping creativity.
C. AI’s influence on students’ creativity. D. Difficulties students face when using AI.
31 What does the word “diminished” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Lowered. B. Raised. C. Cleared. D. Deepened.
32. What will the writer probably agree with?
A. AI can’t help students to be more creative.
B. Students shouldn’t use AI because it’s a form of “cheating”.
C. Students should be taught to use AI wisely and responsibly.
D. Using AI to find quick solutions is more important than focusing on process.
33. Which of the following is the best title for this passage?
A. Why Does AI Raise Your Creativity?
B. Does AI Harm Students' Creativity?
C. Is It Important to Find the Potential of AI?
D. How Can AI Create Original Work?
第二部分
本部分共5题,共20分。根据题目要求,完成相应任务。
四、阅读表达(第34-36题每题2分,第37题4分,共10分)
阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Last summer, I wanted to read “The Little Prince”, but the new copy was too expensive. My mother suggested buying a used one online. I found one on an Old Books Network for only ¥12—less than half the price of a new book! I was nervous: Would the pages be torn? Would it smell musty (发霉的)? When the book arrived, the edges were slightly yellowed, but it was clean and complete. That experience started my adventure with online secondhand books.
For me, there are many bright sides of buying used books. First, saving money is the biggest advantage. Used books often cost 40%—60% less than new ones. With my pocket money, I could buy three used novels for the price of one new book. Second, it helps our planet. Reusing books saves trees and reduces carbon emissions (排放) from printing new ones. Every old book reused is like recycling a stack of paper! Third, hidden treasures await. Once, a friend bought a 1980s comic online and found handwritten notes from its original owner—it felt like discovering a piece of history.
However, there are also some risks. People may worry about the quality of the used books: pages might have highlights, stains, or even tears. To avoid this, I learned to check seller ratings and descriptions carefully. Words like “like new” or “minor wear” are good signs. Slow delivery is another issue. Shipping can take over a week, so I plan ahead if I need a book for school. Digital access (使用权) problems can happen too. Some textbooks require QR codes for online resources, but used copies might not include them. I always message sellers to ask before buying. Finally, people have hygiene (卫生) worries. I often disinfect (给……杀菌) books by sun-drying them for a day—it’s simple and effective.
Buying used books online is like going on a treasure hunt: affordable, eco-friendly and full of surprises. I’ve saved over ¥500 in two years and even made a friend when buying books from a local buyer. Just remember to choose reliable platforms, check the photos of the books closely, and enjoy the journey. As a book lover once said, “Every old book carries not just stories, but a journey to your hands.”

26 The writer thinks his work is ______.
A. easy but boring B. hard and dangerous
C. important and helpful D. tiring but interesting
【答案】24. D 25. C 26.

“Recalling one’s own positive behaviors—rather than recalling positive behaviors more generally—increases generosity in children,” the researchers conclude.
【答案】27. D 28. D 29. B

Many students reported feeling less engaged (专注的) or emotionally connected to their work when AI was heavily involved (参与的).
31. What does the word “diminished” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Lowered. B. Raised. C. Cleared. D. Deepened.
