Friday, October 10th
It’s a sunny and pleasant day. I was tidying my room this morning and found an old photo in a notebook. As I was looking at it, the lovely memory of that day came back to me.
It was my mother’s 35th birthday ten years ago, and I decided to surprise her with home-made scrambled eggs (炒蛋). I woke up really early and walked to the kitchen quietly. I had never cooked anything before, so I tried to copy how she did it. But somehow they ended up burnt.
I was about to throw everything away when my mother came in. I showed her the eggs and sadly explained what happened. To my surprise, she tasted them and said they weren’t bad! I guess love is indeed a magical ingredient. At last, we took this wonderful photo, laughing and ate them all.
This weekend is her 45th birthday. I’ll make her scrambled eggs again. This time, they won’t be burnt!

I carefully saved my food and finally had enough to plant. I built a fence around my garden to keep wild goats away.
When my crop (庄稼) grew fruits, birds discovered it. The birds weren’t afraid of my dog at all! I shot at them, but they came back as soon as I left. Finally, I tried using a scarecrow, and it worked!
During harvest time, I faced a new problem: the tiny food grains (谷粒) fell through my baskets. It took me almost two months to make two mud pots (泥罐)—one for rice, one for wheat (小麦).
Next, I built a mud oven (炉) and made tools from wood and cloth to bake bread. I successfully baked bread in my oven! ▲
Soon, I started dreaming of sailing again in a clean boat. I wanted to explore the island by sea.
I tried flipping (翻转) the old ship’s boat washed ashore but failed. Still, decided to build my own boat. Cut down a strong tree (took weeks!) and spent months shaping it into a boat.
When it was time to put the boat in water, I realized I built it too far from the river. The boat was too heavy to move. I tried digging a canal to bring water to the boat, but it would take 20 years of hard work.
I celebrated my fourth year on the island with two boats, but I was still stuck—no closer to sailing away.
(Adapted from Robinson Crusoe)

A small red drone (无人机) named Prowess broke a world record. It weighed only 247 grams—about the same as an apple. But it could fly at 340 kilometers per hour, faster than most race cars.
Prowess was a micro FPV (First-Person View) (第一人称视角)drone. The pilot wore special glasses to see what the drone saw while flying it. Most FPV drones are small and fast, but Prowess became the fastest micro drone in the world. This was the first time a Chinese person had set a drone world record.
The drone was built by Xu Yang, a 22-year-old student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He studied computer engineering. “Prowess was seven times as fast as a normal micro drone,” Xu said. “It was even faster than a high-speed train!”
Xu got the idea in February 2022 after watching a video. In the video, a man tried to make a micro drone that had to fly faster than 250 kilometers per hour and weigh less than 250 grams. However, he was not successful— his drone could only fly at 219 kilometers per hour. After watching the video, Xu thought the design could be improved. He started to build Prowess in October 2024. After five months of hard work, it flew at 340.78 kilometers per hour and broke the record on March 23, 2025.
Xu had loved toy planes since he was a child. Now, he teaches others about drones online. Many companies wanted to work with him. “I want to make even better drones!” he said. With young talent like Xu, the future of China’s drone technology looks very bright.
52.What was the world record set by the drone Prowess?
A.It flew at 340 kilometers per hour while weighing only 247 grams.
B.It was the first drone made by a Chinese student.
C.It was the lightest drone in the world.
D.It could carry an apple while flying at a high speed.
53.How fast could Prowess fly compared to a normal micro drone?
A.It was ten times as fast as a normal micro drone.
B.It was seven times as fast as a normal micro drone.
C.It was five times as fast as a normal micro drone.
D.It was two times as fast as a normal micro drone.
54.What can we infer (推断)about Xu Yang from the passage?
A.He planned to continue improving drone technology.
B.He built Prowess alone without any help.
C.He wanted to become a race car driver.
D.He was not interested in drones before building Prowess.
55.Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A.The Fastest Race Car in the World
B.A 22-Year-Old Student’s Online Drone Class
C.Prowess: A Record-Breaking Drone Built by a Chinese Youth

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容,完成下列各题。
Maybe we three were the most unlucky graduates in our school history. I’ll never forget the day when we had our graduation ceremony.
I was known for being careless. I often fell down for no reason. Since I fell off the stage during my Primary Graduation Ceremony, my family bet (打赌) that I would fall down again during my next graduation ceremony. The day came so quickly. This time, I proudly made it through the whole ceremony without falling. But I knocked over the whole backdrop (背景板) used to take pictures for graduates. I felt so embarrassed the whole morning.
My friend Julia was even more embarrassed. When she together with all the graduates was sitting quietly in the hall at eight in the morning, she didn’t expect her father to come to attend her ceremony because he was really busy. The hall was very quiet and you could even hear a pin (针) drop on the ground. When all of a sudden, out of the silence, she heard “Hey, Julia!” Everyone in the hall looked behind and found Julia’s father, with a camera in his hand, smiling at her!
Tiffany was the most beautiful girl of us three. She loved all kinds of hats. On that day, she dressed herself beautifully and wanted to have some beautiful photos. Unluckily, it was one of the windiest days of our life. The wind blew her beautiful hat up in front of the whole graduate class! She didn’t know whether to cry or laugh at that time. But now I believe if I mention the funny hat, she will surely burst out laughing. And so will I.
Lucky? Unlucky? So lucky! When I recall all the things of that day, .
65.Did the writer fall down during the graduation ceremony this time?
66.Who showed up at the graduation ceremony unexpectedly?
67.What do the things that happened to the three people have in common?
68.Finish the ending in the last paragraph in your own words. (About 30 words)
【答案】65.No./No, she didn’t. 66.Julia’s father./Julia’s father showed up. 67.First, all these things happened on their graduation day. Second, all situations were embarrassing for them. Third, all things became funny and cherished memories. 68.I realize those “unlucky” moments became our most cherished memories and the unforgettable part of our life.
【导语】本文讲述了作者和两位朋友在毕业典礼上各自经历的看似“倒霉”的事情,最后却认为这些经历是幸运且珍贵的回忆。
65.根据“This time, I proudly made it through the whole ceremony without falling.”可知,作者这次在毕业典礼上没有摔倒,故填No./No, she didn’t.
66.根据“My friend Julia was even more embarrassed…When all of a sudden, out of the silence, she heard ‘Hey, Julia!’ Everyone in the hall looked behind and found Julia’s father, with a camera in his hand, smiling at her!”可知,出乎意料出现在毕业典礼上的是Julia的父亲,故填 Julia’s father./Julia’s father showed up.

I to hang out with friends on weekends.
【答案】 wasn’t allowed
【详解】句意:我被允许在周末和朋友们一起出去玩。原句为肯定句,谓语动词是was allowed(一般过去时的被动语态结构,be动词为was),否定句需在was后加not,即wasn’t,后接过去分词allowed。故填wasn’t;allowed。
70.He reads aloud every morning to improve his oral English. (对划线部分提问)
he read aloud every morning?

71.He borrowed the book yesterday. (改为同义句)
He the book for two days.
【答案】 has kept
【详解】句意:他昨天借来了这本书。根据“for two days”可知,需用现在完成时态,谓语结构为“have/has+过去分词”,动词需要用延续性动词keep;主语为he,应用has,keep的过去分词形式为kept,故填has;kept。
72.我们经常对比自己的表现和过去的成绩来衡量进步。(完成译句)
We often our performance past results to check progress.
【答案】 compare with

73.me, a funny story, after, my grandmother, told, dinner (连词成句)
.
【答案】My grandmother told me a funny story after dinner

VIII.读写综合。(每小题2.5分,共10分)
阅读下列材料与情景任务,在空格处填入一个的词块或句子。
In spring, some people wear light T-shirts while others are in heavy down coats (羽绒服). It seems that people feel different temperatures on the same day. Why does this happen?
In fact, people don’t feel air temperatures directly. It is through the sensors (传感器) on our skin that we can feel cold, cool, warm, and hot temperatures. They help us decide whether to wear more or fewer clothes.
When our bodies are the same size, how much body fat we have may be different and it will influence how we feel temperatures. The more body fat one has, the warmer he or she feels. This is because the fat under the skin helps keep heat. For example, old people often feel colder than young people as the fat layers (层) under the skin get thinner with age.
Surprisingly, another reason is height. We need blood to move around our bodies to keep us warm. Since most people’s hearts are about the same size, it takes more time and energy for the blood to move around in taller people. So taller people might feel colder.
Metabolism (新陈代谢) also influences how we feel temperatures. It shows how fast our bodies use energy. People with a higher metabolism always feel hotter than others. This is because they produce more heat and may take more time to cool down. For example, people with more muscles (肌肉) often feel warmer.
A ReportHello, everyone! Recently I’ve read an interesting article about 74 .
Actually we feel air temperatures through sensors on our skin instead of 75 . Body fat can influence how warm we feel—the more body fat we have, the warmer we feel. Old people’s fat layers get thinner with age, 76 . Also, height is another reason. Taller people may feel colder because it takes more efforts for the blood to move around their bodies to keep them warm. What’s more, how we feel temperatures 77 . People with more muscles have higher metabolism. As a result, they produce more heat and they always feel warmer than others.
Therefore, next time you see someone wearing a T-shirt while you’re in a down coat, don’t be so surprised!
【答案】74.why people feel different temperatures on the same day/the reasons why people feel different temperatures on the same day 75.feeling them directly 76.so they often feel colder than young people 77.is influenced by metabolism/depends on metabolism
【导语】本文主要探讨了为什么在同一天里,人们会感受到不同的温度。
74.根据“It seems that people feel different temperatures on the same day.”可知,这篇文章是关于为什么人们在同一天感觉不同的温度。故填why people feel different temperatures on the same day/the reasons why people feel different temperatures on the same day。
75.根据“In fact, people don’t feel air temperatures directly. It is through the sensors (传感器) on our skin that we can feel cold, cool, warm, and hot temperatures.”可知,我们通过皮肤上的传感器而不是直接感受到空气温度。故填feeling them directly。
76.根据“For example, old people often feel colder than young people as the fat layers (层) under the skin get thinner with age.”可知,老年人的脂肪层随着年龄的增长而变薄,所以他们经常比年轻人感到更冷。故填so they often feel colder than young people。
77.根据“Metabolism (新陈代谢) also influences how we feel temperatures.”可知,我们对温度的感觉受到新陈代谢的影响。故填is influenced by metabolism/depends on metabolism。

①Since we were kids, we’ve often been told that “It’s good to share.” Psychologists (心理学家) say that the behavior of sharing is beneficial to setting up positive emotional connection (情感连接).
②Today, the action of sharing takes on more meaning. We are using technology to reduce the money that we spend on goods and services, or to make money out of those that we don’t use all the time. These differ from car shares to home shares, and even to pet shares. It is creating new ways of thinking and is providing services to people when and where they want them.
③The sharing economy (共享经济) meets our need for quality goods and services at good prices. Whether getting cheap designer clothes online or renting out (出租) flats, it benefits both lenders and borrowers, who can save or make money, and even make new friends. Also, it encourages reuse, reducing waste.
④But the sharing economy is not without its problems as it’s developing faster than ongoing supervision (现行监管).
⑤Some companies are taking unfair advantage of this situation to increase their share of the market. In addition, the sharing economy is open to misuse of trust. Some people have experienced loss of things while renting out their homes, and others have found themselves being stolen or attacked while sharing rides.
⑥Moreover, sharing websites collect personal information. Technology to prevent such information from being stolen still needs improvement, and the awareness (意识) of possible risks is low among both service providers and users.
⑦However, there is no doubt that the sharing economy is increasingly related to our daily lives. It is growing at such a speed that we can only imagine what it will include in the future. What will we be sharing next? Who will be sharing and how? And the most interesting question of all—what kind of society will all this sharing take us to?
56.What does the writer think will happen to the sharing economy in the future?
A.It will fail because people don’t trust it. B.It will grow fast but still have problems.
C.It will take over all businesses completely. D.It will exactly stay the same as it is now.
57.What’s the best title of the passage?

My friend Julia was even more embarrassed. When she together with all the graduates was sitting quietly in the hall at eight in the morning, she didn’t expect her father to come to attend her ceremony because he was really busy.
