First, Heilongjiang has unique natural conditions. It is located in the high latitude area, so the days are long and the nights are short in summer. This makes the rice plants receive enough sunlight. Also, the temperature difference between day and night is large. This helps the rice accumulate more nutrients, making it more delicious.
Second, Heilongjiang has fertile black soil. The black soil is rich in organic matter, which provides sufficient nutrients for the growth of rice. The soil also has good water retention capacity, so the rice plants can get enough water even in dry weather.
Third, the rice is grown with clean water. Heilongjiang has many rivers and lakes, such as the Heilongjiang River and Songhua River. The water here is clean and pollution-free. This ensures that the rice is healthy and safe to eat.
In recent years, Heilongjiang farmers have also adopted modern farming techniques. They use scientific methods to control pests and diseases, reducing the use of pesticides. They also use organic fertilizers to improve the soil quality. All these factors make Heilongjiang Rice one of the best rice in China.
Now, Heilongjiang Rice is not only popular in China but also exported to many countries around the world. It has become a business card of Heilongjiang Province.

One night, John came into the stable (马厩), calling, “Wake up, Beauty!”
He put my saddle and bridle on and rode up to the front door of the house. The Squire was there.
“John,” he said, “Mrs Gordon is very ill. Mrs Gordon is very ill. Ride to fetch the doctor and give him this note.”
“Now, Beauty, do your best,” said John. I went as fast as possible.
When we arrived at Dr White’s house, John told him, “Mrs Gordon is very ill. Squire Gordon thinks she is going to die. Please go to her immediately.” “Yes,” said the doctor, “but my son has my horse. Can I have yours?” he asked.
The doctor was heavier than John, and not such a good rider. But I did my very best and went as fast as possible. When we got to Birtwick Park, Squire Gordon was at the door. The doctor went into the house with him, and Joe led me to the stable. I was glad to be home. My legs were shaking, and I was very wet. Joe was young and he forgot to put a warm blanket on me. Then he gave me cold water to drink. Soon all my body began to shake, and I felt very cold. A long time later John came back. He covered me with two or three warm blankets (毯子), and ran to the house for some hot water. He gave me some warm food, and then I think I went to sleep.
Over and over again, John said to himself, “Stupid boy! Stupid boy!”
I was now very sick, and John was looking after me night and day. The Squire came to see me. “Poor Beauty,” he said one day. “You saved Mrs Gordon’s life.”
John said, “Black Beauty went so fast, he seemed to know what was wrong.”
But after that I was ill for a long time, and I thought I was going to die. One night Thomas Green, Joe’s father, came in to help John.
He told John, “Joe is very sorry for Black Beauty. He knows it was all his fault. He is young, he is not a bad boy.”
John said slowly, “I know he’s not a bad boy. But you see, that horse is very special to us all. But don’t worry, I think Beauty is going to get better.”
And sure enough, in the morning I was much better. (Adapted from Black Beauty)

Have you ever thought that seemingly bad events in our lives might actually carry hidden blessings? This idea is what we call the broken umbrella theory. It suggests that every small unlucky moment we are faced with in our daily lives actually has a deeper purpose.
Picture this: on a rainy morning, you’re rushing to an important job interview when your umbrella breaks, water soaking your suit. Frustrated (沮丧的) and worried about your appearance, you quickly run into a coffee shop for shelter in a hurry. There, you start a conversation with a stranger, sharing your hobby, work experiences, career goals and so on. To your surprise, this person is a manager at a famous company. Impressed by your passion and excellent working experience, he offers you a well-paid job right away—a far better chance than the interview you might miss. What seems like bad luck suddenly turns into a wonderful surprise.
In other words, the broken umbrella theory encourages you to change your thinking pattern. When we choose to view the world in a more positive (积极的) light, we can be less anxious and stop worrying that we can’t manage what’s going on around us. Instead of focusing on small problems that aren’t actually that serious, it helps us learn to see the bigger picture. It also pushes us to find value in the difficulties we face. This way, we become better at dealing with future troubles, thus making us more ready for the future hardships. So, next time you feel yourself becoming worried or frustrated by an inconvenience (麻烦), try reshaping your thoughts by telling yourself what you are thankful for the inconvenience.
While keeping a positive mindset can go a long way, the broken umbrella theory is not without its disadvantages. Be mindful that if you only focus on positive thoughts, you’re actually stopping yourself from dealing with challenging or tough emotions. You end up just pretending (假装) everything is okay, instead of truly facing and understanding how you really feel.
34.Which of the following is an example of the broken umbrella theory?
A.Getting good grades after studying hard.
B.Meeting a good friend after missing a plane.
C.Becoming friends again after dealing with problems.
D.Losing a job because you forgot to wake up on time.
35.How does the broken umbrella theory influence you according to Paragraph 3?
A.It helps you avoid small troubles in your daily life.
B.It pushes you to think more about future difficulties.
C.It makes you feel more worried when facing failures.
D.It gets you to think positively when you are in trouble.
36.What may happen if you only care about positive thoughts?
A.You may solve difficult problems smoothly.
B.You may stay far away from your true feelings.
C.You’ll improve your ability when dealing with troubles.
D.You’ll discover more value when facing daily difficulties.
37.What is probably the best title for the text?
A.Practice Makes Perfect B.Better Late Than Never
C.It Never Rains But It Pours D.Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining
【答案】34.B 35.D 36.B 37.D

35.细节理解题。根据第三段“In other words, the broken umbrella theory encourages you to change your thinking pattern. When we choose to view the world in a more positive (积极的) light, we can be less anxious and stop worrying that we can’t manage what’s going on around us.”可知,破伞理论鼓励你转变思维模式,以更积极的眼光看待世界。故选D。

阅读下面短文,用英语回答短文后的问题(每题回答字数不超过10字词)
When you wake up at night with worries going through your head, it can be hard for you to fall back to sleep. Knowing what to do can help you when worries stop you from sleeping.
It can feel like you’re the only person lying awake with thoughts going around your head in the middle of the night, but it’s usual. Worrying at night feels uncomfortable, so it’s important that you’re kind to yourself. Think about what will help you. That could be waking up an adult to tell him or her about your worries.
By paying attention to your body instead of your thoughts, your brain can calm down. One way to do this is to get comfortable in bed, then focusing your attention on your feet. Next, move your attention up to your lower legs, then to your body until you get to the top of your head.
If you get to the top of your head and you still can’t sleep, change positions to make you comfortable again, and then slowly do the same exercise, from head to feet. This exercise takes time and you have to really pay attention, so it can help your brain stop worrying, and then you can fall asleep slowly.
58.What does the writer think of lying awake with thought?
59.Who could we ask for help when we wake up at night?
60.How can our brain calm down at night according to the writer?
61.Why does this exercise help us stop worrying?

Have you ever heard of “Heilongjiang Rice”? It is famous all over China for its good quality and delicious taste. Why is Heilongjiang Rice so special?
