Let the Ss talk about summary as many as they can.
Step Two: Discussion
Ask the Ss:
1 Do you know why we need to learn how to write a summary?
(Tell the Ss that Summary is a short passage giving the main points of an original article.)
Step Three: Exploration
1.Lead students to know记叙文的概要, 一般包括记叙文的六个要素(who; when; where; what; how; why),也就是考生应先通读阅读短文,找出这六个要素,然后用自己的话将这六个要素串成一两句话即可。
2.Show some good examples
a.点明写作目的类:
The writer tells us…(主题)by showing us an example of…, who/which…(故事情节).
b.作者经历类:
In the passage, the writer mainly tells us his experience of doing sth, which……
c.他人经历类:
This passage is mainly about sb’s experience of doing sth…..
Step Four: Practice
A father came home from work late, tired and exhausted. He worked day and night, hoping to earn more money for his only child. His 5-year-old daughter was waiting for him at the door.
“Dad, how much do you earn an hour?”asked the daughter.
“Why do you ask that?”
“I just want to know. Please tell me how much you earn an hour.”
“If you really want to know ... I earn $20 an hour.”
“Oh,” the little girl replied with her head down. Looking up, she said, “Dad, may I borrow $10?”
The father became angry. “Go to bed right now! Think about how selfish you are. I work hard every day, but you just want to buy your silly toy!”
The little girl quietly went to her bedroom, feeling sad. After an hour or so, the father calmed down and started to feel sorry because she really didn’t ask for money very often. So he went to his daughter’s room and gave her $10.
The little girl jumped from the bed. “Oh, thank you, Dad!” She was really happy indeed. Then she took out her own savings and said,“Dad, I have $20 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home earlier tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.”

What is a summary?
Summary is a short passage giving the main points of an original article.
概括:summary
一. 什么是概要写作?
概要写作,即用简明的语言转述作者观点。
在找出文章的内容要点后,用自己的话转述原文的内容要点。我们一般采用同义替换、语态转换、合并句子等方式,避免抄袭。另外注意,不要以自己的观点代替作者的观点。
Narrative writing
以叙述为主要表达方式,以写人物的经历和事物
发展变化为主要内容的一种文体。
记叙文的概要, 一般包括记叙文的六个要素(who; when; where; what; how; why),也就是考生应先通读阅读短文,找出这六个要素,然后用自己的话将这六个要素串成一两句话即可。
二.如何展开概要写作—联串六要素法

当然, 不一定每篇记叙文都包含这六个要素,但“某人做了某事,结果如何”是必不可少的要素。因此,要写好概要,须找到以下两个问题的答案:
(1) 谁做了什么?(who did what)
(2) 结果如何?(what was the result)
如果是夹叙夹议的文章,作者还要对故事的内容发表议论,或指出故事给人们带来的启示,此时,概括要加上这一内容。
2) 记叙文概要模板
a.点明写作目的类:
The writer tells us…(主题)by showing us an example of…, who/which…(故事情节).
b.作者经历类:
In the passage, the writer mainly tells us his experience of doing sth, which……
c.他人经历类:
This passage is mainly about sb’s experience of doing sth…..

3)概括的标准要求:
抛弃次要,瞄准写作目的。标准的概括采用浮凸式的表达方式,第一句话是主题句,清楚明白地告诉了读者文章的写作目的,这句话的质量决定了概括的成败。后面的句子对主题句进行解释,提供支撑,凡是意义在主题之外的要毫不吝啬地予以删除。

四:概要写作评分细则:
1.完全糊涂地照抄原文,连人称都不改的,得0分;
2.机械死板地照抄原文,只改人称的,得1分;
3.稍微灵活地抄原文,改主语,宾语、原文词序的,得2分;
4.创造性地抄,改主语,宾语、原文词序还有句子结构的,最多得3分。
5.结构、用词,词性变化比较好的4至5分。
