When you walk in a Chinese city early in the morning, you will see groups of people exercising in the park. You’ll see them moving through a set of slow movements. As their bodies move from one exercise to the next, their minds are focused only on their deep, relaxed breath.
Tai Chi is part of national cultural heritage (遗产), which Chinese people take pride in. According to a survey in 2007, more than 2 million Americans are practicing Tai Chi.
Tai Chi is called a mind body type of exercise because it mixes meditation (冥想) with physical movement. Because it’s also a low impact (低冲击) exercise, it may be suitable for older adults. But it’s a useful exercise for people of all ages.
If Tai Chi is something you might like to try, look for a Tai Chi class near you. Keep in mind that training programs are different in many ways. You might want to ask around for advice or try a class before you sign up. Ask Tai Chi coaches about their training and experience.
Tai Chi is generally considered a low risk exercise that is both safe and enjoyable. If you have any physical or medical problems, talk with your health care provider before starting any exercise program. And remember, although Tai Chi has many benefits, it can’t take the place of regular medical care.

When you want to ask your teacher a question during class, what do you do? Do you simply shout out your question as soon as it enters your mind? Or do you raise your hand and wait until the teacher calls your name?
If you politely raise your hand first, it’s probably because your teacher has a rule that regulates (规定) what you are allowed to do when you have a question. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone could simply talk whenever they want during class? Instead of a peaceful learning environment, a classroom without rules would be chaotic!
When you learn to drive, you’ll realize how many rules you have to follow. The rules for driving share a common purpose with many rules you must follow in your daily life to keep you safe. As an ancient Chinese saying goes, “No rules, no standards.” If you make a list of the rules you follow each day, you will quickly realize how many of them can keep you safe and make your life more enjoyable as a result.
Although sometimes you feel like a rule is unfair, don’t break it. Instead, decide what you can do to change the rule. Working within the rules to change the rules is what you need to do.
42. How do teachers keep order in the classroom according to Paragraph 2?
A. By changing some unfair rules.
B. By setting some rules in advance.
C. By punishing students who break the rules.
D. By teaching students how important the rules are.
43. What does the underlined word “chaotic” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. In the middle. B. In the right way.
C. In order. D. In a mess.
44. What can we learn from the text?
A. We needn’t pay attention to unfair rules.
B. We can’t make efforts to change the rules.
C. Following rules can give you a safe and happy life in a way.
D. The writer gives an example to explain what rules are unfair.
45. What is the text mainly about?
A. The ways of making fair rules. B. The importance of rules.
C. Why rules can influence our lives. D. How students should act in school.

On April 19, 2025, Beijing E-Town held a special half marathon (马拉松) where humans and robots ran together. Over 9,000 people and 20 robot teams from China joined the 21-kilometer race at 7:30 a.m. This event mixed sports with technology in a creative way.
The robots amazed everyone with their skills. Some were tall like “Iron Man”, while others were light and moved gracefully. To walk on roads, hills, and grass, the robot runners changed their steps and used special tools to keep balance. Teams could swap batteries (替换电池) in just 10 seconds during the race, helping robots keep moving. Human helpers, like engineers, ran alongside to guide them.
The winner, Tiangong Ultra (1.8 meters tall), finished in 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds. The second-place robot, N2, kept balance well even in wind. The third-place robot, Xingzhe II (28 kg), moved like a human. Although some robots fell, they quickly stood up, making the crowd cheer.
This event showed how robots and humans can work as a team. Experts called it an important step for robot technology. The race wasn’t just about speed-it encouraged young people to study science and teamwork. As one organizer said, “If humans run marathons to test their physical limits (极限), robots running marathons mark a new start for technology development.”
46. Why was the event special?
A. Because it was a half marathon.
B. Because it was on April 19, 2025.
C. Because it was held in Beijing E-Town.
D. Because humans and robots ran together.
47. Who won the half marathon in the end?
A. N2. B. Iron Man. C. Tiangong Ultra. D. Xingzhe II.
48. Which of the following is TRUE according to the text?
A. The robot runners looked the same.
B. The robot runners ran faster than humans.
C. When the robot runners fell, they could not continue to run.
D. The robot runners marked a new start for Chinese technology development.

Last summer, I flew from Beijing to London. When I arrived in London, I felt nervous about the seven-hour time difference, the new language, the buildings and the people at the train station. Everything was so different. It made me worried about my short stay there.
I joined a girls’ middle school and learnt many new things there through a five-day course. I felt lonely and helpless at first because my vocabulary was poor. My learning partner was really friendly, but I just couldn’t relax.
This feeling continued until a PE class. Some girls smiled and invited me to join their baseball game. Even though I had never played baseball before, I decided to give it a try and tried to hit the ball on my first try. At that moment, time seemed to stop, and then cheers broke out all around me. The other girls hugged me and shouted, “Hey, Eileen, you did an amazing job!” From then on, I felt truly happy and relaxed, and I really began to fit in with others.
That experience helped me see the bridge between London and my hometown, Tianjin — a bridge built with care and love.

C. In order. D. In a mess.

A. We needn’t pay attention to unfair rules.
B. We can’t make efforts to change the rules.
C. Following rules can give you a safe and happy life in a way.
D. The writer gives an example to explain what rules are unfair.
45. What is the text mainly about?
