Ants are everywhere. We usually feel angry with them. However, these little ones also teach us something.
Never give up.
Have you noticed that when something is in front of ants, they do not sit down or become sad? They just keep going.
One day, I watched a small ant taking a bug (小虫) back to its nest (巢穴). A leaf in the way was a big problem, but the ant was not giving up. It tried very hard to work out a way. Finally, the ant got that bug over the leaf and into the nest.

Think winter in summer.

Are you an “I” person or an “E” person? The question is popular these days. In fact, these are two personality types based on the MBTI test. “I” refers to “introverted” and “E” refers to “extroverted”. Generally speaking, an “I” person is shy and quiet, but an “E” person is outgoing.
So what is the MBTI test? It was developed in the 1940s by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers. It’s a personality test that helps us better understand our personality preferences (性格偏好) and tells us how we connect with the world around us.
When you take the MBTI test, you have to answer several sets of questions. They cover all aspects of your behavior, preferences and thought processes. For each question, you need to choose the answer that best matches your feelings, attitudes (态度) and behavior. Then you’ll know what your personality type is.
The MBTI test is popular for many reasons. First, people want to understand themselves better. Human personality is very complex, and this test provides a simple way for people to learn about themselves. Besides, taking the MBTI test is relaxing and enjoyable, because its questions are not about right or wrong answers. Instead, they are interesting and close to daily life.
The MBTI test may show something we don’t know about ourselves and can be a fun way to help us make new friends. But knowing someone’s MBTI results doesn’t mean we really know that person. Nor do the MBTI results define who we are.

2.What aspects do the questions of the MBTI test cover?
3.Why is MBTI test popular?
4.Do you think both “I” and “E” people can be good friends? Why?

A special event took place under the Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Shanghai on August 30, 2025. Claude Brouir, a 63-year-old man from Belgium, arrived after riding more than 12,000 kilometers from Brussels on a solar tricycle (太阳能三轮车). People in Shanghai welcomed him warmly.
Brouir began his trip on April 19. For over 120 days, he rode across mountains, rivers and wide fields in Europe and Asia. His journey was not only for fun, and it was also a dream he had kept for a long time—to build a closer connection (联系) with China.
The idea started last November, when Brouir came to Shanghai to visit his eldest son, who now lives in the city. Brouir joined a cycling event and was touched by the kindness of local riders. “That trip gave me the idea—why not ride all the way from Brussels to Shanghai?” he said.
To follow his idea of green travel, Brouir used a special solar tricycle. It had two motors (发动机) and four solar panels (面板). When Justin Tong was a child, other kids felt sorry for him because his parents always made him do lots of housework, such as carrying out the rubbish and sending newspapers. But when he grew up, he was better off than his childhood friends and lived a happier and healthier life.
It took 40 years to study the lives of 456 children in London. The study, led by Daniel Brown, a psychologist (心理学家) in the UK, aimed to find out the connection between childhood labor work (劳动) and later life success.
The study followed these children’s lives closely from a very young age. The researchers interviewed them about their lives at the ages of 25, 31, and 47. And they compared two things: how much labor work the children did during their childhood and how successful their later lives were. The study showed that children who did more childhood labor work had a better future. They were more likely to get good pay, overcome difficulties bravely and have good relationships with different people. That’s because childhood labor work can not only help children develop abilities, independence, and a sense of responsibility but also help them understand that people must work together towards common goals.

Imagine you go to the supermarket, but there are almost no fruits, vegetables, honey, milk, or eggs. How would you feel? Disappointed? Angry? Sad? At this moment, you realize people, plants, and animals are all connected. We need each other to live, and bees are one of the best examples of this connection.
Bees are very hard-working animals, and their greatest work is pollination. On one trip, they often visit 50 to 100 flowers. As they fly from one flower to another, they take pollen with them. Deep in the bamboo forests of China, black-and-white pandas sit peacefully. They chew (嚼) on the leaves of a plant or perhaps some grasses. They live in the mountains and forests of China. They are national treasures in China.
Pandas are amazing in many ways. Baby pandas are born very small and pink, and they do not open their eyes until they are about six to eight weeks old. Too many people want others to be their friends, but they don’t give friendship back. That is why some friendships don’t last very long. To have a friend, you must learn to be one. You must learn to treat your friend the way you want your friend to treat you. Learning to be a good friend means learning three rules: be honest; be generous (慷慨的); be understanding.
Honesty is where a good friendship starts. Good friends must trust (信任) each other. If you don’t tell the truth, you will lose your friend’s trust.
Generosity means sharing. And sharing makes a friendship grow. You don’t have to give your lunch money or your clothes to your friends. But you have to learn how to share things you like-your hobbies and interests. You also need to learn to share your ideas and feelings. These can be meaningful to a friend.
Everyone needs help with a problem. Talking about the problem can make it easier to solve. So you must listen to them and understand them. You must try to put yourself in your friend’s shoes so you can understand the problem better.
If you plan to keep your friendships, you must follow the rules.
1.What will happen to you if you don’t tell your friends the truth according to the text?
2.What should you share with your friends?
3.How can you understand your friend’s problem better?

My family always has family dinners, as far as I can remember. When I was a little boy, my mother began to ask us to go to family dinners at least once a week. Every Sunday, my mother will buy a lot of food and bring it to my grandma’s house. We will wait for more family members to come before eating together at the table, my grandma’s dinner table. In the past, I felt that was a little silly (愚蠢的) tradition.
However, I find it’s fantastic to get together as a family now. For me, dinner is not just a meal, but a good time to talk and play with family. We can talk about anything and everything after a long week of school and work. Every time I sit at the dinner table, my grandma’s dinner table, I look around and find so many people who truly love me. It makes me feel so happy.
Finally, I understand the true meaning of this tradition. It’s not about the dinners or activities. It’s about family, a group of people who care about each other.
Now, I’m always expecting Sunday to arrive. All the memories (记忆) around my grandma’s dinner table will last forever.

Ask for help.
Think about it: have you ever seen an ant move something too big by itself? That never happens. When a load (负荷) is too big, the ant signals (发信号) to the others for help.
Why don’t we do more of this? Sometimes, we are just too afraid to ask someone to share the load. Sharing can make our lives much easier.
Think winter in summer.
Ants know there are seasons. They collect food and build the nest all through the summer, even when they still have enough to eat. So when the cold days of winter come, the ants can stay in their warm nest and never worry about being hungry. They plan for their lives!
1.What got in the way of the ant when it was taking a bug?
2.Why don’t we ask others for help to share the load sometimes?
3.When do ants build the nest?
4.Which quality (品质) of ants is the most useful to your studies? Give your reason(s). (Write 30 words or more)

1.Was the MBTI test developed by only one person?

It’s never too late to start doing labor work today. Get ready and take on every task, no matter how small it is. Always remember, your labor work will bring you closer to a better and happier future.
1.Why did other kids feel sorry for Justin Tong when he was a child?
2.How long did the study last (持续)?

Imagine you go to the supermarket, but there are almost no fruits, vegetables, honey, milk, or eggs. How would you feel? Disappointed? Angry? Sad? At this moment, you realize people, plants, and animals are all connected. We need each other to live, and bees are one of the best examples of this connection.
Bees are very hard-working animals, and their greatest work is pollination. On one trip, they often visit 50 to 100 flowers. As they fly from one flower to another, they take pollen with them. This action helps plants grow. In fact, about 80 percent of the plants in the world cannot grow without their work. For this reason, many scientists believe that bees are the most important animals on this planet.
Bees are also one of the most interesting animals in the world. For example, they work hard together to make their homes. In order to store honey, they create honeycombs. Another interesting thing about bees is how they communicate. When a bee finds new food, it uses a dance to tell the others where and how far away the food is.
Bees play an important part in the ecosystem of our planet. However, the number of bees is dropping, and scientists are worried. Bees need our help, and there is a lot we can do. What can we do to protect one of the most amazing animals on earth?
1.What is the greatest work of bees?
2.How many flowers do bees visit on one trip?
3.Why do many scientists believe that bees are the most important animals?
4.How do bees store honey?
5.What can you do to protect bees?
