Her genius for math and science was evident early and her parents arranged for her and her siblings’ education to be a priority. Katherine graduated from high school at only 14 and attended West Virginia State College, a historically Black college. When West Virginia decided to quietly integrate its graduate schools in 1939, West Virginia State’s president, Dr. John W. Davis, selected her and two men to be the first Black students offered spots at the state’s flagship school, West Virginia University. In 1953, in a time of racial separation, she started a job as a human “computer” with the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), which later developed into NASA. She worked in the West Area Computing section at Langley Research Center on a team headed by fellow West Virginian Dorothy Vaughan. This turned into a permanent position and set the course for Katherine’s role in space exploration. In 1960, she and engineer Ted Skopinski coauthored Determination of Azimuth Angle at Burnout for Placing a Satellite Over a Selected Earth Position, a report laying out the equations (方程式) describing an orbital spaceflight in which the landing position of the spacecraft is specified. It was the first time a woman in the Flight Research Division had received credit as an author of a research report. Her expertise was key to John Glenn’s orbit around Earth in 1962, with Glenn putting much of his confidence in Katherine to make the mission a success. As a part of the preflight checklist, Glenn asked engineers to “get the girl”— Johnson—to run the same numbers through the same equations that had been programmed into the computer, but by hand, on her desktop mechanical calculating machine. “If she says they’re good,” Katherine Johnson remembered the astronaut saying, “then I’m ready to go.” 24. What can we learn about Katherine Johnson’s life experience? A. Her parents attached great importance to her education. B. She was the only Black student to enter West Virginia University in 1939. C She took the lead of the West Area Computing section. D. She joined the NACA organization after NASA had been founded. 25. Why does the writer quote John Glenn’s words in the last paragraph? A. To explain Johnson’s hand calculation was tough. B. To highlight John Glenn was a strict mission leader. C. To prove Johnson’s hand calculations were reliable. D. To illustrate the computer’s data was not trustworthy. 26. Which of the following can best describe Katherine Johnson? A. Modest and sociable. B. Talented and diligent. C. Stubborn and hardworking. D. Considerate and cooperative. 27. What is the best title for the text? A. Katherine Johnson: A Lifetime of Educational Pursuits B. The Story of a “Computer”: Katherine Johnson’s Early Life at NASA C. Katherine Johnson: A Pioneering Force in Space Exploration D. Mathematics: The Key to John Glenn’s Historic Space Flight C Many international students studying abroad in America have several supposed ideas about American culture. After visiting the country, many international students showed the culture shock they received in America. Here are some culture shocks in America that most of the international students came across. It's surprising to note that kids, the youth and adults refer to each other with their first names, This is a very uncommon sight. Many international students might find it surprising and take time to adjust to this tradition. Another culture shock is that, in America, there could be only one or two classes a day. Usually, they’re conducted in the afternoon or in the evening. This means the students get enough time to sleep late, wake up around noon and have time for different chores (琐事). Besides, having convenience in the schedule of classes, students also enjoy long hours of breaks. Among the many culture shocks in America, multiple languages are quite common there. Many international students would move to America, believing that the only language is English. However, that's not the case. The citizens commonly speak languages such as Spanish, French, German, Chinese and others, So if you're comfortable with any of the above-mentioned languages, you might get surprises. Many international students are used to using kilograms, metres, litres, degrees centigrade as the units of weight, length, volume, temperature. But they might be perplexed to see a different metric system in America. There, pounds, feet and Fahrenheit are usually used as units for measurements. This system is quite puzzling to comprehend at the beginning for many international students. Many international students might find various culture shocks in America depending on the background they come from. Thus, they may need a long time to adjust themselves to the unfamiliar environment. 28. What may make international students surprised at school? A. Adults are often referred to with their titles. B. The number of classes is fewer than expected. C. Kids refer to adults with their family names. D. Students can freely do different chores in class. 29. Why do international students care little about language barriers in America? A. English there is easy to understand. B. All of them can speak English fluently. C. There are several other official languages. D. They may be able to use their native languages there. 30. Wat does the underlined word “perplexed” mean in paragraph 5? A. Interested. B. Frightened. C. Confused. D. Excited. 31. What is the best title for the text? A. Multicultural Experiences Are Waiting for You B. International Students Are Welcome to America C. Culture Shocks International Students May Experience in America D. Reasons Why There Are a Large Number of Culture Shocks in America D Chinese researchers have developed a 3D hand-shaped microrobot measuring about 40 micrometers, smaller than the diameter of a human hair, to achieve precise movements such as the grasping, delivering, and releasing of particles or cells, according to a research article published in the International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing. Microrobots play an essential role in early medical checks and accurate treatment, given increasing demands for better control over tools in bio-medicine and micromanipulation. Microrobots can do this well, so they help doctors find patients’ health problems earlier and provide treatments that fit each patient. However, the research says most microrobots have a problem, in which they are currently made of a single material system, with their production process focused on a driving module as the main structure. This makes it hard for one microrobot to combine various functions, which are necessary for completing complex jobs. To fix this, researchers from the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) created this hand-shaped microrobot. As CAS explained, when using the robot, researchers first put it in a liquid. When the surrounding pH value changes, the microrobot’s “palm” unfolds or folds like flower petals—just like your hand pulls back automatically when touching hot water. Guided by a magnetic field, this microrobot can avoid obstacles and target particles or cells. When the liquid turns acidic (酸性的), its “palm” shuts to hold the target tightly. Then the robot turns and adjusts its direction to take the target to the right place. When the liquid becomes alkaline (碱性的), the “palm” opens again to release the particles or cells. Researchers say this robot may soon be used to control cells, carry drugs for accurate treatment, and even help protect the environment. 32. What can we learn about the 3D hand-shaped microrobot? A. It has a wide range of applications in industry. B. It has a diameter equal to that of a human hair. C. It was first reported in a Chinese scientific journal. D. It can perform precise actions like grabbing cells. 33. Why can’t most current microrobots finish complex tasks? A They are made of some complex materials. B. They can’t work in the liquid environments. C. Their single-material design limits them to a single function. D. Their production process overemphasizes the driving module. 34. What can we infer about the “palm” of the microrobot? A. It has the same softness as a human hand. B. Its movement is related to the liquid’s pH. C. It can only function properly in acidic liquid. D. It requires a magnetic field to open and close fully. 35. Which of the following is the most suitable title for the passage? A. Differences Between Old and New Microrobots B. The History of Microrobot Research in China C. A New Microrobot for Medical and Environmental Uses D. A New Hand-Shaped Microrobot by Chinese Researchers Culture shock isn’t a clinical term or medical conditions. Our lunchtime when I was in the third grade will stay with me always. I had been picked to be the princess in the school play, and for weeks my mother had painstakingly practiced my lines(台词)with me. But no matter how easily I delivered them at home, as soon as I stepped on stage, every word disappeared from my head. Finally, my teacher took me aside. She explained patiently that she needed a narrator (叙述者,旁白员) and had written a narrator’s part to the play, and asked me to play the role of the narrator. Her words, kindly delivered, still hurt me especially when I saw my part go to another girl. I didn’t tell mother what had happened when I went home for lunch that day. But she sensed my upset, and instead of suggesting we practice my lines, she asked if I wanted to walk in the yard. It was a lovely spring day and the rose vine( 藤 )was turning green. Under the huge trees, we could see yellow dandelions( 蒲 公 英 ) appearing unexpectedly through the grass in bunches (簇,串), as if a painter had touched our landscape with small amounts of gold. I watched my mother casually bend down by one of the bushes. “I think I’m going to dig up all these weeds,” she said, pulling a blossom up by all its roots. “From now on, we’ll only have roses in this garden.” I immediately argued, “But I like dandelions. All flowers are beautiful — even dandelions.” Paragraph 1: “Do you mean that every flower has its own beauty?”asked my mother thoughtfully. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Having learned what had happened, Mom patted me on the back gently and said,“But you will be a beautiful narrator.” ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025—2026学年上学期第三学段教学质量检测高二英语试题 注意:本试卷共14页,满分150分,时间120分钟 第Ⅰ卷(共95分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 What does the woman advise the man to do? C. She took the lead of the West Area Computing section. Mathematics: The Key to John Glenn’s Historic Space Flight 【答案】24. Reasons Why There Are a Large Number of Culture Shocks in America 【答案】28. B 29. D 30. C 31. 根据第三段中的“Another culture shock is that, in America, there could be only one or two classes a day. Usually, they’re conducted in the afternoon or in the evening.(另一个文化冲击是,在美国,一天可能只有一到两节课。通常,他们在下午或晚上进行。)”可知,在美国的学校,一天只有一到两节课,由此可知,在美国的课节数比预计的要少。故选B项。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中的“However, that’s not the case. The citizens commonly speak languages such as Spanish, French, German, Chinese and others. So if you’re comfortable with any of the above-mentioned languages, you might get surprises.(然而,事实并非如此。这里的居民通常会说西班牙语、法语、德语、汉语和其他语言,所以如果你对上述任何一种语言都很熟悉,你可能会感到惊讶。)”可知,美国的居民通常会说西班牙语、法语、德语、汉语和其他语言,由此可知,外国留学生如果对以上语言熟悉的话,就可以使用自己的母语与他们进行交流,因此不太在意语言障碍。故选D项。 【30题详解】 词义猜测题。根据第五段中的“Many international students are used to using kilograms, metres, litres, degrees centigrade as the units of weight, length, volume, temperature.(许多国际学生习惯使用公斤、米、升、摄氏度作为重量、长度、体积、温度的单位。)” 根据划线后的句子“This system is quite puzzling to comprehend at the beginning for many international students.(对于许多国际学生来说,理解这一计量制度一开始很困惑的。)” 根据首段中的“Here are some culture shocks in America that most of the international students came across.(以下是大多数国际学生在美国遇到的一些文化冲击。)” D Chinese researchers have developed a 3D hand-shaped microrobot measuring about 40 micrometers, smaller than the diameter of a human hair, to achieve precise movements such as the grasping, delivering, and releasing of particles or cells, according to a research article published in the International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing. A. They are made of some complex materials. A New Hand-Shaped Microrobot by Chinese Researchers 【答案】32. D 33. C 34. B 35. This makes it hard for one microrobot to combine various functions, which are necessary for completing complex jobs.(然而,研究表明,大多数微型机器人都存在一个问题,即它们目前由单一材料系统制成,其生产过程主要集中在驱动模块作为主要结构。 根据第四段的句子“When the surrounding pH value changes, the microrobot’s “palm” unfolds or folds like flower petals—just like your hand pulls back automatically when touching hot water. Guided by a magnetic field, this microrobot can avoid obstacles and target particles or cells. When the liquid turns acidic (酸性的), its “palm” shuts to hold the target tightly. Then the robot turns and adjusts its direction to take the target to the right place. When the liquid becomes alkaline (碱性的), the “palm” opens again to release the particles or cells.(当周围的pH值发生变化时,微型机器人的“手掌”就会像花瓣一样展开或折叠——就像你的手在接触热水时自动缩回一样。 根据文章内容,特别是第一段的句子“Chinese researchers have developed a 3D hand-shaped microrobot measuring about 40 micrometers, smaller than the diameter of a human hair, to achieve precise movements such as the grasping, delivering, and releasing of particles or cells, according to a research article published in the International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing.(根据发表在《国际极限制造杂志》上的一篇研究文章,中国研究人员已经开发出一种3D手形微型机器人,尺寸约为40微米,比人类头发的直径还小,可以实现诸如抓取、输送和释放颗粒或细胞等精确运动。)” Culture shock isn’t a clinical term or medical conditions. Our lunchtime when I was in the third grade will stay with me always. I had been picked to be the princess in the school play and for weeks my mother had painstakingly practiced my lines(台词)with me. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Having learned what had happened, Mom patted me on the back gently and said,“But you will be a beautiful narrator.” ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: “Do you mean that every flower has its own beauty?” asked my mother thoughtfully. I nodded without hesitation, as if a second waste could threaten the life of dandelions. “And that is true of people too," she added with her soft voice. “Not everyone can be a rose, and it is also an honor to be a dandelion.” Relieved that my mother had guessed my pain, I took off the mask that I had worn for the whole lunch time and poured out my upset heartily. Having learned what had happened, Mom patted me on the back gently and said, “But you will be a beautiful narrator.” She reminded me of how fluently I could deliver my part at home. It was at that time that I understood that maybe I was more suitable for a role backstage like a narrator. From then on, I practiced my lines heart and soul with my mother at lunch time for weeks. Eventually, the performance that night was a big success. Hearing the thunderous applause, I took pride in my role and firmly believed that even a dandelion had its own beauty. 词汇激活 行为类 ①毫不犹豫地点头:nod without hesitation/agree on it immediately/agree with her instantly ②.取下:take off/remove the mask ③.倾诉:pour out/pour forth ④.理解:understand/realize/see 情绪类 ①.如释重负的:relieved/taking a load off sb’s mind ②.自豪:take pride in/be proud of 【点睛】 [高分句型1].
