Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true. Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it’s hard for you to communicate with your parents, don’t worry about it. Here are some suggestions for you to bridge the generation gap (代沟).
Don’t argue with your parents. Don’t go to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won’t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. You can’t express (表达) yourself well if you are angry. Go to some places to cool off.
Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don’t think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.
Try to reach a compromise (妥协). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it’s especially important to show love and respect to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.
Talk about your values (价值,价值观). The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.

Travel is fun and exciting, but you won’t feel so if you get ill. Of course you don’t want to spend your holiday staying in bed. So what can you do to stay in good health when travelling? There are a few things you should remember when you travel.
Give your body some rest. A holiday should be a time for relaxing. But very often it is not. You may spend a lot of time walking around so many places, such as museums, shops and parks. This can make you exhausted. A tired body means a weak body, and a weak body gets ill easily. So when travelling, remember to stop walking and sit down for a few hours in a nice place.
Enough sleep is also important. You may have trouble sleeping at night. Maybe your hotel room is noisy or the bed is not comfortable. You may also want to stay out late at night. Then you should plan to sleep for an hour during the daytime. It can make a big difference.
Lastly, remember to eat well. That means eating the right kinds of food. Your body needs fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as some meat, milk or cheese (奶酪). Besides, be careful about how much you eat. Eating too much is not good for you.
28. What does the underlined word “exhausted” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Excited. B. Bored. C. Tired.
29. ________ are the right kinds of food to eat when we travel.
A. Fruit, meat and hamburgers
B. Vegetables meat and cheese
C. Fruit, fried chicken and milk
30. What’s the structure of the passage?
A. B. C.
31. What is the passage mainly about?
A. How to stay healthy when travelling.
B. How to enjoy your holiday.
C. How to eat well when staying out.

In the summer vacation, I decided to volunteer to teach the kids in a small village. The village is located (位于) in the mountain area.
When I reached the bottom of a mountain, a couple of people from the village took me to their place. They were so kind that they made me feel at home.
I gathered (聚集) the children and created a plan for teaching them. In the first class, I placed a box full of chocolates near a tree at a distance (距离) of 200 metres. I told the children that the child who runs fast and reaches first would get all the chocolates. I wanted to encourage the children to be active (活跃的) through the competition (竞赛). Then I counted “one, two and run!” But what happened then was a real surprise! All the children ran towards the chocolate box together, holding each other’s hands. There was only one winner and it was all the children. The children then happily shared the chocolates among themselves. I asked the children why they did that. One boy replied, “We can get the most happiness by sharing with others.”
At that time, I realized that these children had taught me more than I could ever teach them. I continued to teach them knowledge, but I also learned the true meaning of kindness from them. That is ________.
