教学目标
1. 通过概括段落关键词,复习回顾1b阅读文章的主要内容及科普类说明文的篇章结构特征,并思考作者的写作目的;
2. 通过分析1b阅读文章的第二和第三两个段落,学习理解科普文章的语言特征,主要包括运用数据、事实信息和例子等细节信息来支撑主题句;
3. 通过阅读和分析新篇章The Amazing World of Ants的语言,再次体验科普文章的语言特征并学习该类说明文开头生动有趣的场景描述导入,提升学生的逻辑思维和分析运用能力;
4. 通过比较两篇文章,概括蜜蜂和蚂蚁两种动物的共性,并进一步探讨人类与植物和动物之间的紧密关联,实现主题意义探究,认识到动植物对人类的重要性并提高保护动植物的意识。
教学重难点
教学重点:
1. 学习理解和体验科普类说明文丰富的语言特征和段落结构,为写作铺垫;
2. 对比两篇文章,概括蜜蜂和蚂蚁两种动物的共性,并探究人类与植物和动物的关联,提升尊重和保护自然界生物的意识。

1. 理解科普文章的语言特征,尤其需要运用于下一课时的写作当中,对学生是一个难点。
2. 结合两篇文章探讨人类与植物和动物如何关联,这样的分析对学生来说也是一个难点。

Activity 2: Let’s learn
1. Para.2 (For the language feature of using numbers)
Ss answer the two questions:
Why are bees important according to this paragraph?
Why are numbers 50, 100 and 80 used in the essay?
Ss get the first language feature of popular science essays:
Numbers are used to provide important information as well as to make the article clearer and more accurate.
2. For Para. 3 (For the language feature of using examples and the topic
sentence)
Ss answer the question:
How does the writer talk about the interesting facts of bees? ( The writer uses the topic sentence and examples as details to support the topic sentence. )
Ss get the second language feature of popular science essays:
Examples are used to help easily understand the main idea and to
make the main idea more believable.
3. For Paras.2 and 3 (For the language feature of using facts)
Show the two sentences:
As they fly from one flower to another, they take pollen with them. When a bee finds food, it uses a dance to tell the others where and how far away the food is.
Ss read and get the third language feature of popular science essays:
Factual statements are also used to make the article more real and believable.

通过回顾课文,思考作者的写作目的,同时引入思考人与植物和动物之间相互关联的单元主题,这个活动也导入了下一篇新的文本材料。(指向目标1)
Step 4. Let’s read
1.Ss watch a video of the amazing ants and tell what they know about ants from the video: Ants are very tiny insects. They live in big groups called colonies. They dig tunnels and carry things that are much heavier than themselves. They help clean up dead plants and animals./ ... )
2. Read and answer
(1) What type is this article? (It is a popular science essay.)
(2) Can you find some language features of this article as a popular science essay?
(3) How does the writer begin this article? (Compare with the article of bees and get the use of vivid scene description to lead in the passages.)
通过观看视频,了解关于蚂蚁的重要信息,为阅读做铺垫;通过阅读新篇章The Amazing World of Ants,引导学生寻找科普文章的语言特征,再次体验数字、例子和事实信息在科普类说明文中的运用,同时通过学习两篇文章的开头部分引导学生感悟场景描述导入课文的语言特点,这些活动提升了学生的自主学习和逻辑分析能力。(指向目标3)

1. How do the text show us that humans are closely connected with plants and animals?
2. 2. What do you think are the common characteristics of bees and ants?

通过比较两篇文章,概括蜜蜂和蚂蚁两种动物的共性,探讨人类与植物和动物之间的紧密关联,并通过学生分享的感悟实现主题意义探究,认识到动植物对人类的重要性并提高保护动植物的意识。(指向目标4)
Homework:
Must do: Choose one animal and write a paragraph about the important roles it plays by using examples, numbers and factual statements.
Choose to do: Search for information about more animals and plants. Take notes about them, then think and write down how they are connected with humans.
两个作业均紧靠本课和本单元的主题,且学生有选择的自由。必做作业要求运用说明文的语言特征进行段落写作,体现了课堂教学评一致性;选做作业引导学生关注更多的动物和植物并思考与人类的关联,深入探究主题,实现素养培养和育人价值的提升。
