Roy had a lot of friends. After school they always played together. But Roy had one big headache. It was his sister, Allie. Somehow, Allie just didn’t understand that Roy and his friends didn’t want her around.
Roy asked his mom, “Why does Allie have to come along? Troy’s sister doesn’t. Jimmy’s sister doesn’t.” His mother said, “Troy’s sister is only six months old, and Jimmy doesn’t have a sister. Guess what makes you the unlucky one.”
Roy and his friends used to play hardball, but one of them broke a window of Mr. McWhirter’s house. Mr. McWhirter wouldn’t even give them their hardball back. So Roy only played whiffle ball (空心棒球) with his friends. As usual, Allie caught up with the boys.
Quickly, the whiffle ball game started. It was Jimmy’s turn. He hit the ball hard, right into Mr. McWhirter’s yard. The boys ran over to Mr. McWhirter’s fence (栅栏) and peered through the railings (围栏). The ball lay in the grass, just out of reach. Nobody knew what to do.
Troy shouted, “Roy, look! How small Allie is!”
“Yeah,” said Jimmy. “She can slip through the fence!”
Then Allie slipped (滑过) through the fence, picked up the ball, and came back. She handed the ball to Roy.
Troy said, “Thanks, Allie.” “Nice job,” said Jimmy.
Hearing these words, Roy’s heart was filled with pride. “Come on, Allie” said Roy. “I’ll teach you how to swing the bat.”

We’ve all heard of smart phones, but how about smart clothing? A company called Cute Circuit has developed new football shirts for football fans. They can help deaf football fans to “feel” the atmosphere (气氛) of the stadium (运动场) during a game.
People who have hearing problems can’t listen to music as normal people do, but they can feel it. Sound is made up of microphone vibrations (振动). Deaf people can feel vibrations with the help of some part of the brain which normal people use for hearing.
How does this amazing shirt work? Cute Circuit sets microphones around Newcastle United stadium to receive the sound of the people cheering and singing. A computer program analyses (分析) the sounds picked up and changes them into data (数据). Then it can be sent to the football shirts. Little motors (马达) inside the shirts would vibrate. Finally, the wearer will feel the sounds of the people.
Deaf and hard-of-hearing people can also use the shirts to feel live music in the concert. The very deep musical sounds of instruments like drums and basses vibrate close to the stomach. Higher sounds from instruments like the violin, the guitar or the dizi vibrate higher around the neck and arms. Besides, the shirts can be used to feel sounds while playing video games.
The football shirts were used for the first time at St James’ Park, Newcastle United stadium, on April 13th. They will be available (可获得的) for deaf or hard-of-hearing fans at all Newcastle matches that are played at the stadium from now on.
28. Whom did Cute Circuit create the new football shirts for?
A. Famous musicians. B. Football players. C. Deaf fans.
