My mother lived for tradition-especially on holidays. Knowing how much I loved to read, a new book was the perfect way to begin a new school year for me, and it was a reminder of how much she cared. I carried my mother’s thoughtfulness into my own children’s lives. When it was time for them to start school, we began our own traditions. For us, it was all about our favorite pizza at dinner and High/Low, a game in which the kids shared their best and not-so-good memories of that first school day. They loved the game so much that they made me share mine. The start of a new school year can be exciting or frightening for children, but creating a family tradition can help beat the first-day-of-school blues. Kristin Taylor of Murray, Kentucky, wishes her parents had recorded her childhood more, so she’s promised to do that for her kids. “I want to remember the moments that seem little but end up being the stories we retell as our kids grow up,” says Taylor, mother to three children. Each year on the first school day, she photographs her children in their school uniforms. “I plan on giving them a book of those photos when they graduate,” she says. The book “The Kissing Hand” has meant a lot to Marie Karns and her daughter Lil. In the story, a baby raccoon (浣熊) cries to his mom that he doesn’t want to go to school. The mom passes down a tradition from her mom to her little boy. She kisses the inside of his palm (手心) so he can take her love to school with him. “We read the book every year and then I kissed the palm of her hand so she could take it to school with her,” says Karns. Traditions create memories and one day, when the kids are older, they will be a great way to look back and remember those new beginnings. 24. What did the author think of the new book on her bed? A. It expressed her mother’s wish to teach. B. It was an everyday gift for her. C. It was a great way for her to start each school year. D. It showed her mother’s love for reading. 25. What did the author’s children do on their first school day? A. They went out to a restaurant to have dinner. B. They read a new book together. C. They discussed how to start a new family tradition. D. They described their experiences that day in a game. 26. What can we learn about Kristin Taylor? A. She values childhood memories. B. She works as a photographer. C. She is strict with her children. D. She is good at telling stories. 27 What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 5 refer to? A. A family tradition. B. Karns’ love. C. Lil’s gift. D. A children’s book. C The school year just started on September 7 for New York City students but there’s something new on the curriculum (课程): mindful breathing. This is part of a plan to improve the mental and physical health of students by putting mindfulness into the school day. The teachers began training on how to include mindful breathing into the school day over the summer break. The city’s department of education teamed up with the Yoga Alliance, a professional organization to create the yoga and mindfulness program. The mindful breathing practices will be rolled out soon for all students from pre-K through 12th grade and will consist of one- to five- minute daily sessions. At least one teacher per school will be trained to lead the breathing exercises. The program was trialed (试验) in the spring of 2023 in Public School 5 in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in Brooklyn reported CBS News. Third grade students Noah, Cach and Shawn believe the program is working. “When I get into problems, I take a breath so nothing can happen to me,” Shawn told CBS. Eric Adams, NYC’s mayor (市长), and David Banks, the Schools Chancellor, said that this is just the first step in creating more mindful schools that will include gardens, peaceful rest spots, and yoga. While Eastern cultures have used deep breathing exercises for thousands of years, this is something that hasn’t been taught in the Western world, Adams told The New York Times (NYT). “There’s a science to breathing,” he said. While some say that the program doesn’t go far enough to address the mental health crises that exist now, reported the NYT, the mayor said it’s a low-cost way to help improve students’ well-being. A program to provide virtual mental health support for high schoolers is being planned but no details have been released. “I get asked many questions from parents about ‘What are you doing? Kids are going through a lot. What are your mental health programs?’” Banks said. “There’s nothing more important that we could teach our kids than mindful breathing.” 28. What did the department of education of New York do to launch the program? A. It made guidelines on how to do breathing exercises. B. It founded a special club to offer professional training. C. It made students realize the importance of mindfulness. D. It cooperated with a professional organization for training. 29. How will the mindful breathing practices be carried out? A. They’ll be in the headmaster’s charge. B. They’ll involve everyone in the school. C. They’ll last within 5 minutes every day. D. They will be done mainly in a certain school. 30. What might be the reason the mayor decided to introduce mindful breathing in schools? A. The widespread of yoga. B. Its popularity with students. C. Its proved effects and low cost. D. The students’ breathing problems. 31. What can we infer about the program from Banks’s words? A. It is based on science. B. It meets parents’ needs. C. It receives some doubts. D. It is intended for the sick. D Black Friday isn’t what it once was. Less than 15 years ago, it was common for people to wake up at early hours to drive to a store, where they would stand in line, waiting for the doors to open in order to get the best deals. Those people stay, but not in the numbers they used to, thanks to online shopping. But as AI becomes entrenched in people’s habits, it could have an increasingly large role in Black Friday. A growing number of buyers will be depending on Al to help them find deals. Some 33% of the people in a 2025 survey said they plan to use AI as part of their holiday shopping double the number who did last year. Many say the tech could help them with gift ideas and product discovery. A separate study from another marketing platform (平台) found that 56% of buyers say they’ll use AI tools among black Friday. AI can do a lot more than help people think of creative gifts, of course. GenAI can research prices and recommend the best deal, in some cases even buying the products for you. And a growing number of people are taking advantage of that. Traffic from AI platforms to retail (零售) sites in July was up by 4,700%. And the company says there will be an increase in Al usage of between 515% and 550% this holiday season, compared to 2024. To use AI for finding deals, first make a clear list of what you want to buy. Be very specific (确切的) about the product details when asking the chatbot. For example, if you want a computer, mention the exact model and your preferences. The AI will then search for the best prices and may also suggest cash-back apps. However, always check the results on the store’s website yourself, as prices can change quickly. This method saves you time and makes holiday shopping easier. 32. What does the underlined word “entrenched in” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Deeply fixed in. B. Greatly influenced by. C. Free from. D. Subject to. 33. What can be inferred from the numbers in the 3rd and 4th paragraphs? A. Human shoppers prefer off-season shopping. B. Traditional shopping is out of daily life. C. Retailers use AI to design better deals. D. AI has reshaped our shopping habits. 34. What is suggested for using AI to find deals? A. Asking AI for gift ideas . B. Checking the real-time prices. C. Avoiding using cash-back apps. D. Making general product descriptions. 35. Which of the following is the best title for the passage? A. The Risks of Using AI. B. The Fall of Black Friday. C. AI: A Game Changer for Shopping. D. Online Shopping: A Way to Change Holidays. I’ve done my share of stress-eating with ice cream or distracting my anxiety by buying something online that I don’t need just to give myself a lift. ____36____ But when it comes to true self-care, I’ve found what really works for me. Max is a kind boy, but he is also quite shy and careful. He doesn’t like to try new things, especially if they seem frightening. New foods, tall trees, deep water — he usually says no before he even tries. I wanted this trip to be different. So before we packed our bags, I told him, “This time, we’ll say yes to new things.” He laughed a little, not sure I really meant it. Our first test came at the airport restaurant. I ordered a bowl of hot noodles I’d never tried before. And Max chose a piece of funny green bread that caught his eye. He looked at it for a while and said, “It looks strange.” But after one small taste, he smiled. “It’s actually good!” he said. It was a small step, but a good start. When we arrived at our destination, everything looked huge — the mountains, the ski hits, even the piles (堆) of snow. Max looked up at the slopes (坡道) and said, “They look really high.” I smiled and said, “We’ll learn together.” The next morning, we joined a beginner’s ski class. I was nervous too — I hadn’t skied for years. The coach taught us how to put on our skis, how to use ski poles (滑雪杆) and how to stop and turn. Max listened carefully but didn’t move much. “I don’t think I can do it,” he said quietly. I could see the fear in his eyes. “Let’s say yes.” I told him. “Watch me first.” My heart was pounding wildly, but I pushed off slowly, and skied down the slope. My turns were awkward and I almost fell, but when I reached the bottom, I laughed. I looked up at Max and waved “See? It’s not perfect, but it’s fun! Come on, Max!” Max thought for a while and then moved to the top of the slope. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After that trip, Max changed a lot. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 河南省信阳高级中学新校(贤岭校区)、老校(文化街校区) 2025-2026学年高一上期01月测试(一) 英语试题 考生注意: 1. How much is the shirt? Growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone (舒适区). To help with that, we’re making some changes. You’ll still have group activities, tests, and study periods. But now, we’re adding more projects where students can work alone. Through these, you can find out what you’re really into. These projects are your chances to take the lead in your own learning. It might also give you an idea of what you want to study in university later. That’s all from me. The book “The Kissing Hand” has meant a lot to Marie Karns and her daughter, Lil. 27. What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 5 refer to? A. A family tradition. B. Karns’ love. C. Lil’s gift. D. A children’s book. C 25. D 26. A 27. 根据第一段“Knowing how much I loved to read, a new book was the perfect way to begin a new school year for me, and it was a reminder of how much she cared.”(知道我有多喜欢阅读,所以一本新书对我来说是开始新学年的完美方式,也提醒着我妈妈有多在乎我。) 根据第二段“For us, it was all about our favorite pizza at dinner and High/Low, a game in which the kids shared their best and not-so-good memories of that first school day.”(对我们来说,这一切都是关于晚餐时我们最喜欢的披萨和High/Low,这是一个孩子们分享他们第一天上学最美好的和不太好的回忆的游戏。) 根据第三段Kristin Taylor对她的三个孩子所说的话“I want to remember the moments that seem little but end up being the stories we retell as our kids grow up,”(我想记住那些看似微不足道的时刻,但最终会成为我们在孩子长大后反复讲述的故事。) 故选A。 根据第五段“She kisses the inside of his palm (手心) so he can take her love to school with him.”(她吻了他的手心,这样他就可以把她的爱带到学校去。)可知,在“The Kissing Hand”这本书中,浣熊妈妈会亲吻浣熊宝宝的手心,这样宝宝就会把妈妈的爱带到学校去;结合划线词所在句“We read the book every year and then I kissed the palm of her hand so she could take it to school with her”(我们每年都会读这本书,然后我亲吻她的手心,这样她就可以把它带到学校去。) B。 C The school year just started on September 7 for New York City students but there’s something new on the curriculum (课程): mindful breathing. 28. D 29. C 30. C 31. 32. A 33. D 34. B 35. It doesn’t cost anything, except for investing in new shoes every eight months — running. ____37____It has also been a comfort to know that I can do it when I need to as a way to ground myself and appreciate the good stuff in my life. How did I begin running? My sister Lorie is an inspiring athlete who introduced me to running almost 5 years ago. ____38____ About six months later, I ran my first 5K road race and loved it. It’s a great honor to share my views on overusing AI learning tools like Doubao and deepseek. __________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Hello everyone! It’s a great honor to share my views on overusing AI learning tools like Doubao and deepseek. Overusing them not only stops us from thinking independently but also makes us lazy, gradually weakening our problem-solving skills. What’s worse, some students just copy answers directly without understanding the basic knowledge behind them. This does great harm to their long-term study. Actually, it is our own efforts and consistent practice that really improve our studies. We should treat AI as a helpful assistant rather than a substitute. It’s better to finish homework independently first, then turn to AI for specific explanations and practical study strategies to make up for our shortcomings. Let’s use AI wisely to boost our learning instead of letting it replace our thinking. Thank you! 词汇积累 基本的: basic → fundamental 持续的: consistent → persistent/continual 替代品: substitute → replacement 弥补: make up for → compensate for/remedy 2. What’s worse, some students just copy answers directly without understanding the fundamental knowledge behind them. (运用了“it is... that...” Last winter, I planned a short ski trip to the mountains with my 9-year-old son, Max. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Max thought for a while and then moved to the top of the slope. He held the ski poles tightly, his cheeks pink from the cold and nerves. Following the coach’s tips, he bent his knees slightly and pushed off. At first, he skied unsteadily, almost tripping once— but he grabbed his balance quickly. As he glided down, a small smile appeared. When he reached the bottom, he turned to me and shouted, “Mom, I did it!” He ran back up immediately, eager to try again, his fear gone. After that trip, Max changed a lot. He no longer rejects new things right away. Last month, he joined the school’s hiking club, which he’d once said was “too tiring”. Last week, he even asked to try sushi—a food he used to push away with his fork. “Saying yes is fun,” he told me one night when we tried a new milk tea flavor. That ski trip didn’t just let him learn to ski; it gave him the courage to embrace new experiences, making him more open and confident. 1】Following the coach’s tips, he bent his knees slightly and pushed off.(运用了现在分词短语作方式状语) 【高分句型2】Last month, he joined the school’s hiking club, which he’d once said was “too tiring”.(运用了which引导的非限定性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。My sister loves animals.
