一、补全短文(有一项为多余选项)。
If you tear up while watching a TV show, some people might think you are too emotional. But crying is normal, and it can actually be good for us.
1 But they know it can help us feel better. A study found that 50 percent of people felt happier after crying. Also, when people see us cry, they are more likely to reach out to us.
Professor Ad Vingerhoets says that crying makes others feel empathetic (共情的), so they want to support and be kind to us. “To put it differently, tears connect,” Professor Vingerhoets says. 2 They are the type of people we want as friends, neighbors, and partners.
While some people might feel worse or get a headache (头疼) after crying, most feel better. “ 3 ” explains the doctor Anna Mathur. “When we hold a lot of emotions, we can become like a balloon filled with too much air, until our body finds a way to release (释放) the air.”
4 Or you might even find that crying after a small hurt, like suddenly hitting your toe, seems to make the pain go away faster. This is because of your body’s response (反应) to crying. “By letting tears go, you are welcoming a release of happy hormones (荷尔蒙),” says Mathur. 5 .
A. Crying is our body’s way of releasing emotion.
B. You may notice that you feel calmer after crying.
C. Some of them can even make pain feel less strong.
D. Scientists aren’t sure exactly what happens when we cry.
E. About twenty percent of crying lasts longer than 30 minutes.
F. Research shows that people who often cry are seen as warmer, nicer, and more honest

二、补全短文(有一项为多余选项)。
On 3rd September, a big military parade (阅兵) took place in Beijing. It marked the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War (中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利 80 周年). 1 Did you enjoy watching them? Maybe everyone would say “yes” because looking at those perfect lines is so pleasing.
2 The reason is that our brains love orderly things. This pleasant feeling has to do with something called “processing fluency (流畅性)”. It helps our brain do things easily, such as remembering and deciding. Usually, clear shapes and clear comparisons can help improve processing fluency.
But why do our brains like this fluency? Scientists have different ideas. Some say it's because our brains don't have to work hard to understand this information. 3
Another idea is that our brains developed from evolution (进化). When things are easy to get, our brains think we are safe. 4 A certain part of our brains plays a big part in helping us realize it. This part has 300 million brain cells that help us learn.
5 For example, Apple often uses this idea to make its ads simpler and clearer. In this way, people can understand and remember their products more easily.
A. Also, processing fluency can be helpful for marketing.
B. Our brains enjoy processing complex (复杂的) information.
C. This means we can make quick choices without thinking a lot.
D. During the military parade, the soldiers stepped in perfect lines.
E. Why does seeing the soldiers in perfect lines make us feel good?
F. But if things get difficult or challenging, our brains think there might be danger.

三、补全短文(有一项为多余选项)。
Many people keep pets in their homes and see them as their family members. Dogs and cats are probably the most common pets. A report shows that among pet owners, 27% keep dogs, 12% keep cats, and 17% keep both of them. 1
There is a study of 87 pet owners. All of them keep both dogs and cats. The results of the study are quite interesting. 2 Cats often spend time quietly and stay away from dogs. However, dogs often try to show friendly acts.
Only 4% of the owners say their pets run after or fight with each other. 3 Cats are kinder, and 37% of them even let dogs eat from their food plates. 6% of cats will guard (保卫) their food, while 7% will make angry sounds when dogs come near, and 4% will drive dogs away. However, only 23% of dogs share their food with cats. 18% will drive cats away, and 12% will make loud sounds when cats try to eat their food.
4 The cat usually takes no notice of the owner and keeps to itself, while the dog often gets close to the owner, hoping the owner can notice it. 5
Although dogs and cats might not become best friends, these two different animals can still find ways to share the same home peacefully.
A. This happens mainly because of food.
B. But they have different personalities and daily habits.
C. Most of the owners' dogs and cats get on well together.
D. What happens when dogs and cats live in the same house?
E. To get more love and care, the dog may even try to drive the cat away.

Animals are very important in our lives. They are not just a part of nature, but also our good friends. 1
First, some animals work for us. For example, dogs can help the police find lost people or catch bad people. And some dogs can even guide the blind. Cows and sheep give us milk and wool (羊毛), which we use to make food and clothes. 2
Second, animals bring us happiness. Many people keep pets like cats, dogs or birds at home. 3 They play with us and make us feel less lonely than before. When we are sad, they can comfort us with their love.
Third, animals are important for the environment. Bees help flowers grow by carrying pollen. Birds eat insects and keep the balance of nature. If there were no animals, our world would not be so beautiful.
4 We cut down forests, pollute (污染) rivers and hunt too much. These make it hard for animals to live. We must protect them and their homes. We can do small things like not littering, planting trees and learning more about animals.
5 They help us, make us happy and keep our world beautiful. Let’s treat them with love and care, so we can live together in a better world.
A. They are like our family members.
B. All in all, animals are our good friends.
C. Without them, life might be much harder than before.
D. Everyone plays an important role in protecting animals.
E. They help us in many ways and make our world more colourful.

五、补全短文 根据短文内容,从短文后的 A—F 选项中选出 5 个适当的选项补全短文。(共 5 小题;每小题 1 分,计 5 分)
Do you ever learn something but forget it soon after? Don’t worry! Maybe the F.A.S.T. way can help you.
F is for Forget
Start with an empty (空的) mind. Imagine your mind as a cup: 1 Before studying, let go of thoughts like “This is too hard” or “I can’t”, and focus only on what you’re learning. This makes space for new knowledge.
A is for Active (活跃的)
You can’t learn to ride a bike just by watching. 2 Active learning is the same: Doing is more important than watching. For example, when studying history, think about how it relates (关联) to the present (当前). This helps your brain work harder and store information longer, so you remember more.
S is for State (状态)
3 That’s because your feelings play an important role in memory. If you’re bored or worried, you won’t remember well. But if you’re excited, it’s easier for you to remember. 4 These states help you feel good and improve your memory.
T is for Teach
Teach what you’ve learned to others. 5 For example, if you learn to cook, tell someone else the steps. This helps you learn cooking better. The same goes for other things.
Learning isn’t magic—it’s a skill. Practise the F.A.S.T. way to learn better.
A. You need to try it yourself.
B. That makes your thoughts clear.
C. If it’s full, it can’t hold anything new.
D. You remember fun activities longer than boring classes.
E. However, nothing is impossible as long as you study hard.
F. Try studying while standing, taking a short walk, or smiling.

六、补全短文 根据短文内容,从短文后的 A—F 选项中选出 5 个适当的选项补全短文。(共 5 小题;每小题 1 分,计 5 分)
Do you want to talk to someone from ancient times? It might seem like an impossible dream, right? 1 AI brings famous people like Li Bai and Du Fu “back to life”. Through AI-generated (AI 生成的) videos, we can now hear them “speak” in modern language.
2 First, AI collects a lot of information about a person—like their photos, poems, and stories. Then, AI creates a “digital (电子的) twin” of the person. This digital twin can then speak and move almost like the real person!
Why is this so amazing? 3 Instead of just learning about famous people in history books, we can now see them and even hear their voices. It's like taking a fun trip through time.
However, there are two sides to this technology. While AI can make history really exciting, it's not always perfect. Sometimes, mistakes happen. 4 So, it's important to check if the information is correct while watching these videos.
AI is changing how we connect with history. It allows us to explore different times and cultures in a fun way. 5 Who knows?
A. So, how does it work?
B. It brings history to life in a whole new way!
C. In one video, Du Fu talks about his experiences.
D. But now, with the help of AI, this dream is coming true!
E. Or worse, some creators might share wrong information!
F. We might even see famous events in history happen right before our eyes.
