Read on for examples of creative buildings in the world. Wonder Works, Tennessee INSPIRATION: What if a laboratory was thrown into the air in an experiment and landed upside down? Looking at the cracks, you might think “Is it about to collapse?” But it’s all an illusion (错觉). This indoor amusement park is actually pretty normal. The upside-down features are just for show. Inside are more than 100 hands-on activities. Cube Houses, Netherlands INSPIRATION: Trees in a forest, with each block being a tree. The Cube Houses are a popular attraction, but they are also real houses so that tourists can accommodate here! The blocks have concrete foundations and floors with a wood living space on top. Shiny metal panels add visual appeal. The furniture is tailor-made to fit the odd angles where the walls meet. Bubble Palace, France INSPIRATION: “Habitology”, an idea that habitats could use nature’s flexible lines instead of straight lines and sharp angles. This house may look like a space settlement, but it’s a 10-bedroom palace where travelers can stay shortly. Made of cave-like bubbles, it also has ponds, waterfalls, swimming pools, an outdoor theater that seats 500 people, and views of the Mediterranean Sea. 21. What is special about Wonder Works? A. It is designed to look like a real laboratory. B. It is an amusement park built in a laboratory. C. It gives people an illusion of its appearance. D. It has over 100 different types of buildings inside. 22. What do Cube House and Bubble Palace have in common? A. Visitors are provided accommodation. B. Visitors can enjoy picturesque sea views. C. Visitors can experience hands-on activities. D. Visitors can use customized furniture. 23. In which column can you read this article? A. Architecture. B. Travel. C. History. D. Entertainment B Lights, camera, action! Have you ever dreamed of being a director? At age 29, Di Di already has almost 10 years of directing experience. Through the media company he founded, he makes advertising and promotional videos, including for Tsinghua University, his alma mater (母校). For Di, becoming a director is an adventure based on interest. Majoring in journalism, he got into directing by chance. “In 2016,I came up with an idea for Tsinghua’s admissions(招生)video but couldn’t find a director,” Di said. “so I decided to be the director myself! I ended up really enjoying the process of being creative and working with a team. That was when I knew I wanted to be a director.” While many people think that directors are experts at art, Di found that directors are, in fact, experts at management. “Only one-third of my time is spent on set. The rest of the time, I’m doing lots of planning with my clients and co-workers.” he said. This planning process includes working out the video’s theme with the client, creating a play, bringing together the visuals and text content, and also managing logistics (后勤) like where to park the cars and how to bring electricity to the set. “Filming is an industry of high costs. Even short advertisements cost a lot of money per day. Any incident could result in the failure of the project, such as bad weather or the main character not turning up. You have to be quick to respond to any problems,” Di said. Despite the pressure, Di gets great joy from making an impact through his works. In 2019, he made a film for Tsinghua, which tells the story of a group of first-generation college students-the first to go to university in their families. It was viewed more than 15 million times on social media and became a hot top 20 trending topic on Sina Weibo. Being a first-generation college student himself, Di felt very passionate about the video’s goal of inspiring students to use their education to make a better life for their families. One month before the national college entrance exam in2020, Di released a feature film encouraging high school students to keep working hard after the exam was pushed back by one month. 24. Which of the following is true? A. Di was a student whose major was directing. B. Di became a director by accident. C. Little money is needed to make a film. D. Most of Di’s time is spent on directing. 25. What is paragraph two mainly about? A. Di’s experience of directing. B. What it takes to be a director. C. How Di started to be a director. D. Di’s views on being a director. 26. Which is not included in Di’s work? A. Planning the set. B. Talking about the topic. C. Putting visuals and texts together. D. Preparing meals. 27. What can be learned from the last paragraph? A. Weather decides how well the process goes. B. Di’s video helps students go to university. C. Di’s video makes a difference to some students. D. Directing is a career with little pressure. C 32°N adaptive glasses, created by Deep Optics using pixelated liquid crystal (PLC) lenses (像素化液晶镜片), work as both protective eyewear and adaptive reading glasses. PLC lenses appeared as early as 2017, but only recently did the company create an interesting pair of eyeglasses that could, in theory, become the only pair of glasses a person would need. That`s because the adaptive concept of the glasses allows wearers to adjust their purpose with a single slide of the frame (框架). For stylish sunglasses, simply slide backward on the right frame, and to put them into vision correction mode, you just slide back to the original place. Additionally, the lens power can be changed from 0 to 2.5 diopters (屈光度), and the built-in battery offers up to 48 hours of power. “Our special technology actively corrects vision using PLC lenses,” Deep Optics explains. “The lenses perform like human eyes, allowing the wearer to see what they want when they want. Our technology adds no extra weight or size.” The lenses are set in frames containing a distance meter on the bridge, which measures the distance from the wearer`s face to objects. The meter then sends a signal to adjust the diopters of the lenses. This adjustment can happen quickly, letting the user focus from one object to another clearly and accurately in 14 milliseconds. At $849 per pair, 32°N glasses are not cheap, but they do relieve you of the need to carry two pairs of eyeglasses with you. No more changing between reading and distance glasses, as after adjusting the liquid crystal lenses to your needs, all you have to do is a slide on the right frame to change their focus between close and far distances. These adaptive sunglasses are a giant step forward, ridding the need for single-use lenses. And 32°N glasses are not just primary designs that may or may not make it to the market. They are already available, despite their high price. Still, if liquid lenses become more mainstream, the price is certain to come down in the future. 28. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us? A. How the lenses are fixed. B. How the lenses work. C. How the lenses bear more weight. D. How the lenses are created. 29. Which words best describe 32°N glasses? A. Heavy but effective. B. Costly but multi-functional. C. Creative but easily-broken. D. Energy-saving but inflexible. 30. What can we know about 32°N glasses from the last paragraph? A. They haven`t reached consumers. B. Theyllcurewearers eye illnesses. C. They have replaced the old sunglasses. D. They`re a breakthrough in the glasses industry. 31. In which section of a website may the text appear? A. Education. B. Sports. C. Science. D. Entertainment. D A broken heart and a sad ending to a long friendship. That’s something most of us have experienced, or probably will. After all, it’s part of human life. But the experience can be hard to get over. But research shows there are pathways through the heartache. Listening to sad music is a major one. It can help you begin to feel joy and hopefulness about your life again. It can arouse the desire to connect with others. Sad music can help heal and uplift you from your broken heart. A recent study from Germany found the emotional influence of listening to sad music is an arousal of feelings of empathy (同情), and a desire for positive connection with others. That, itself, is psychologically healing. It draws you away from concentration on yourself, and possibly towards helping others in need of comfort. Another experiment, from the University of Kent, found that when people were experiencing sadness, listening to music that was “beautiful but sad” improved their mood. In fact, it did so when the person first consciously accept the situation causing their sadness, and then began listening to the sad music. That is, when they intended that the sad music might help, they found that it did. These findings link with other studies that show accepting your sad situation emotionally leads to healing and growth beyond it. It seems unbelievable but it does make sense. For example, research from Cornell University found that accepting discomfort about a life experience or new situation, and viewing it as a step towards growth and change, encourages people to find a pathway through it, beyond it. As Churchill famously said, “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” That discomfort points you towards creating a plan, a new action. It brings hope. 32. What can we learn from Paragraph 3&4? A. Sad music can make people help others. B. Sad music can make sad people feel better. C. Sad music can make people believe in themselves. D. Sad music can make people concentrate on themselves. 33. What does the phrase underlined in the last paragraph mean? A. Hearing a swear word used by enemies. B. Avoiding a place to go after death. C. Getting an extremely pleasant time. D. Having an unbearable experience. 34. How does the author develop this article? A. By presenting research findings. B. By giving directions. C. By listing authoritative figures. D. By comparing examples. 35. Which of the following can be the best title for the article? A. How to Find Pathways through Heartaches B. How We React to a Broken Heart Matters a Lot C. What We Can Do to Overcome Discomfort in Life D. Finally, during one of my monthly visits home, I begged my parents to let me buy one, “Dad, Mom, I ... I want to buy a MP3 ... , the one for …” I swallowed (吞咽) the rest of my words. Did I really need to explain what a MP3 was? Surely everybody knew! At first there was no response from my parents. But my little brother replied eagerly, “Me too!” Then finally my dad spoke, “What! What is it for? This little stuff breaks down soon after you get it! It’s an absolutely useless expense (花费) …” Then, I had an idea. When the summer vacation came, I lied to my parents that I couldn’t stay at home, because the school had supplementary (附加的) programs. As a result, I earned my money for a new MP3 through my part-time job. I was at home the night before my new school when Mom came into my room. She sat on my bed, and patted me on the shoulder. Then she handed me a small box. “Take this. Don’t tell your father ... Now, study hard, okay?” she said softly. “Mom, how did you ... ?” I asked. “It’s from my own savings. Your father doesn’t know.” I sat alone for a long time with my new MP3, weeping (哭泣) silently. W: Yesterday, I went to a place called Sidelli with my family. It was really interesting. In the morning, we visited a theater. It was built 2,000 years ago beside the sea and people used to watch plays there in the open air. There used to be an old fishing village nearby. After that, we had a guided tour. Rather than go to the old palace, which is full of tourists, our guide took us up a hill and showed us around what’s left of a library. Most of it had fallen down, but it still had a fantastic atmosphere. We then took a bus into the countryside for lunch, and we ate next to a waterfall. Afterwards, we took a walk from there to a lake. In the afternoon, we chose to go on one of two different factory tours. One factory made pots and plates, which sounded dull to me, and one produced carpets. That was the one we went on. There were lots of traditional designs, all made by local people. It was amazing. That was the last thing we did that day. A Some buildings can leave you wondering how on earth they were built. D. B 25. C 26. D 27. 根据第二段“For Di, becoming a director is an adventure based on interest. 【答案】28. B 29. B 30. D 31. The meter then sends a signal to adjust the diopters of the lenses. This adjustment can happen quickly, letting the user focus from one object to another clearly and accurately in 14 milliseconds.”(镜片安装在镜框中,镜架上有一个距离计,可以测量佩戴者脸部到物体的距离。 根据倒数第二段中“At $849 per pair, 32°N glasses are not cheap, but they do relieve you of the need to carry two pairs of eyeglasses with you.”(32°N眼镜每副售价849美元,并不便宜,但它确实让你不必随身携带两副眼镜。)以及“No more changing between reading and distance glasses, as after adjusting the liquid crystal lenses to your needs, all you have to do is a slide on the right frame to change their focus between close and far distances.”(无需在阅读眼镜和远距离眼镜之间切换,因为根据您的需要调整液晶镜片后,您所要做的就是在右侧镜框上滑动,以在近距离和远距离之间改变其焦点。) 根据最后一段中“These adaptive sunglasses are a giant step forward, ridding the need for single-use lenses.”(这些自适应太阳镜是向前迈出的一大步,不再需要一次性镜片。) D A broken heart and a sad ending to a long friendship. Why Listening to Sad Music Heals Your Broken Heart 【答案】32. B 33. D 34. A 35. 根据第三段中“Sad music can help heal and uplift you from your broken heart. (悲伤的音乐可以帮助你从破碎的心灵中治愈和振作起来。)”和第四段中“Another experiment, from the University of Kent, found that when people were experiencing sadness, listening to music that was ‘beautiful but sad’ improved their mood. (肯特大学的另一项实验发现,当人们感到悲伤时,听‘美丽但悲伤’的音乐可以改善他们的情绪。)”可知,悲伤的音乐对悲伤的人而言有治愈作用,能改善他们的情绪,即可以让他们感觉好一些。故选B项。 【33题详解】 词句猜测题。根据画线词的下文“That discomfort points you towards creating a plan, a new action. It brings hope. (这种不适会让你制定一个计划,一个新的行动。它带来了希望。)”可推知,此处描述的一种不适的、糟糕的经历。结合选项内容可知,画线短语意思应该是“有难以忍受的经历”。故选D项。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“A recent study from Germany found the emotional influence of listening to sad music is an arousal of feelings of empathy (同情), and a desire for positive connection with others. (德国最近的一项研究发现,听悲伤的音乐对情绪的影响是一种同理心的唤起,以及与他人建立积极联系的渴望。)”、第四段中“Another experiment, from the University of Kent, found that when people were experiencing sadness, listening to music that was ‘beautiful but sad’ improved their mood. (肯特大学的另一项实验发现,当人们感到悲伤时,听‘美丽但悲伤’的音乐可以改善他们的情绪。)”和最后一段中“For example, research from Cornell University found that accepting discomfort about a life experience or new situation, and viewing it as a step towards growth and change, encourages people to find a pathway through it, beyond it. (例如,康奈尔大学的研究发现,接受对生活经历或新情况的不适,并将其视为迈向成长和改变的一步,会鼓励人们找到克服和超越它的途径。)”可知,文章呈现了多个研究结果,来表明听悲伤音乐的积极作用。故选A项。 通读全文,尤其是第二段中“But research shows there are pathways through the heartache. Listening to sad music is a major one. (但研究表明,心痛是有缓解途径的。听悲伤的音乐是主要的一种途径。)”可知,文章主要介绍了听悲伤的音乐在治愈心灵创伤中的作用,这些作用包括帮助人们重新感受到生活的快乐和希望,唤起同理心,并激发与他人建立积极联系的欲望等。因此,D项“为什么听悲伤的音乐能治愈你破碎的心”契合文章主旨,适合作为文章标题。故选D项。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) Everyone knows you can save money on books by checking them out at the library instead of buying then. ___36___ Here are four surprising ways the library can help you save money. ●Reserve free tickets to local attractions. I had long dreamed of owning a MP3. The more MP3 owners were on campus, the stronger my desire (渴望) became. When I went back to school, I decided to give up my part-time job so that I could study harder for my parents, for my dream. My motivation (动机) to study has never been so strong. Para1: One afternoon, I was in my dorm when a classmate told me that my father was waiting for me downstairs. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para2: I sat down and unwrapped (打开) the box. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One afternoon, I was in my dorm when a classmate told me that my father was waiting for me downstairs. I rushed out of the door, ran downstairs anxiously, and saw my father standing there. At the sight of me, he managed an embarrassed smile and handed me a box, saying, “Son, I bought this for you since I overheard that it’s an efficient device for study. You will treasure it and use it for a good purpose, won’t you? …” Swallowing the rest words, he just turned around and left for work hurriedly. Seeing him off, I dragged my legs to my dorm with the small box in hand. I sat down and unwrapped the box. Gasping in astonishment, I found a totally brand new MP3 inside. It was neatly packed and the price tag was still attached. I gazed at it for a while, tears in eyes. The tired faces and weathered hands of my parents appeared before my eyes. How could I repay them? After putting the MP3 away carefully, I headed for the classroom determinedly. I knew no matter what challenges I met, my parents would always be there for me with their deep love and wholehearted support. I also knew the progress I made in my study was the best present for them. 词汇激活 行为类 ①冲出去:rush out / burst out ②珍惜:treasure /value/ cherish ③拒绝:shake his head/decline/refuse politely 情绪类 ①尴尬的:embarrassed / uncomfortable/ awkward ②匆忙地:hurriedly/in a hurry 【点睛】[高分句型1] Seeing him off, I dragged my legs to my dorm with the small box in hand.(使用了现在分词Seeing和with复合结构充当伴随状语) [高分句型2] After putting the MP3 away carefully, I headed for the classroom determinedly.(使用了动名词putting充当介词after的宾语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $英语试卷第一部分听力做题时,先将答案标在试卷上,录音内容结束后,你将有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案转涂到答题卡上。 Oh, it's so hot today.
