The Popularity of “Cultural Heritage Digitalization” Among Youth
In recent years, “cultural heritage digitalization” has become a hot topic among young people in China. This trend involves using digital technologies such as 3D scanning, virtual reality and blockchain to protect, display and promote cultural heritage. From digital versions of ancient paintings to virtual tours of historical sites, young people are embracing this new way to connect with traditional culture.
Why has cultural heritage digitalization gained such popularity? For many young people, traditional ways of learning about cultural heritage, such as visiting museums or reading books, are often boring and passive. Digitalization makes cultural heritage more interactive and accessible. A 15-year-old student named Li Yu said, “I used to find ancient calligraphy boring, but now I can use a digital app to simulate writing with a brush. It’s fun and helps me understand the beauty of calligraphy better.”
Another reason is the sense of participation. Young people can not only enjoy digital cultural heritage but also contribute to its development. Some teenagers use their programming skills to create small games based on cultural heritage themes, while others share digital cultural content on social media to attract more attention. “Last year, I participated in a project that digitized ancient local records. It felt great to help preserve our local culture,” said a high school student.
However, experts remind that while digitalization brings new vitality to cultural heritage, we should also pay attention to potential problems. “Digital versions can’t replace the original cultural relics. We need to balance digital experience with real visits,” said a cultural heritage expert. “Moreover, we should ensure the accuracy of digital content to avoid misleading young people.”
14.What is “cultural heritage digitalization”?
A.A way to destroy cultural heritage using digital technologies.
B.Using digital technologies to protect, display and promote cultural heritage.
C.A trend of replacing traditional culture with digital culture.
D.A method of selling cultural relics online through digital platforms.
15.Why do young people like cultural heritage digitalization?
A.It makes cultural heritage more interactive and accessible.
B.It allows them to sell cultural relics online for money.
C.It replaces the need to visit museums completely.
D.It makes ancient calligraphy more difficult to learn.
16.What can young people do to contribute to cultural heritage digitalization?
A.Only visit museums to learn about cultural heritage.
B.Create games based on cultural heritage themes or share related digital content.
C.Refuse to use digital technologies to experience cultural heritage.
D.Mislead others with inaccurate digital cultural content.
17.What warning do experts give about cultural heritage digitalization?
A.Digital versions are better than original cultural relics.
B.We should only rely on digital experience to learn about cultural heritage.
C.We need to balance digital experience with real visits and ensure content accuracy.

Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true.
Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it’s hard for you to communicate with your parents, don’t worry about it. Here is some advice for you to bridge the generation gap (消除代沟).
Don’t argue (争辩) with your parents. Don’t go to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won’t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can’t express yourself well if you are angry. Go someplace to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don’t think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.
Try to reach a compromise (和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Michael’s mother didn’t agree with him about buying a motorcycle. They argued over it. But they finally came to a compromise. Michael bought the motorcycle, but only drove it on certain days.
Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect (尊敬) to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.
Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.
A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth having a try!

From May to November, six beach houses have fallen down in North Carolina’s Outer Banks—a troubling sign of how erosion (侵蚀) continues to put a toll on the state’s coastal villages.
The most recent collapse (倒塌) happened between last Thursday and Friday after a storm caused powerful waves along Rodanthe. The house was empty, and officials have been in contact with the house owner. Less than a mile away, three other homes had fallen down in September. Since 2020, a total of 11 houses in the area have been washed away into the ocean.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore said strong winds, large waves, as well as rising sea levels—which are caused by climate change—are causing beaches on the Outer Banks to wash away. “Many buildings close to the beach in Rodanthe are either partially or fully covered with ocean water on a regular basis,” the Seashore said.
It’s a problem faced by coastal communities around the country. In North Carolina, over 750 homes along the state’s beaches are considered in danger from erosion, according to an August report released by the state’s Department of Environmental Quality and Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Erosion in these coastal villages affects tourism and destroys sea turtles’ home, and when homes fall down, it leaves ruins (废墟). The situation is expected to worsen as a result of rising sea levels and more coastal storms.
National Seashore officials have warned owners of unsafe houses to either strengthen their home’s supports or move to a safer location if possible.

A.Six houses were washed away.
B.It happened because a storm hit.
C.It resulted in many people missing.
D.Police failed to contact the house owner.
25.What should be done according to the local officials?
A.Take measures to control rising sea levels.
B.Solve the problem by protecting the ecosystem.
C.Reduce the effect on tourism by clearing the ruins.

Do you get nervous when you talk to someone? Do you find it hard to have a conversation with a stranger? If you have such worries, it is time for you to learn some more conversation skills. 26
Listen carefully and show interest in others. One of the most important things is to listen to the person you speak to. 27 For example, if someone tells you their hobby and you can ask questions about it, they will surely be happy to continue the conversation.
28 Some of the best topics might be the weather, sports, music, films, food, or travel. However, it is impolite to ask someone’s age, weight, or other personal information. Also, if you don’t agree with others, don’t argue with them. Just move on to another topic.
Be honest and sincere. If you have no idea of a subject, just say “I don’t know much about it.” If you want to make the other person happy, mention his or her strong points. But don’t just pretend (假装) to be nice. 29
Pay attention to your body language. Sometimes it is just as important as your words. Don’t be nervous. 30 Just be yourself—you have a lot to offer.
If you really work at it, you will find having conversations much easier.
A.Choose the right topic.

故填will fall。
48.句意:然后我们玩了很多有趣的游戏。固定短语quite a few表示“相当多”。故填a。
49.句意:并且我们还欣赏了舞龙这类热闹的表演。空格处缺少代词指代作者和表姐,全文以第一人称叙述,且空格处在句中作主语,所以应用人称代词的主格we。故填we。
50.句意:今年的庙会与去年有些不同。固定短语be different from表示“与……不同”。故填from。
故填most meaningful。
53.句意:我期待明年再来庙会。固定短语expect to do sth.表示“期待做某事”,所以空格处应填to come。故填to come。

D.Cultural heritage digitalization has no potential problems.

22.What does the underlined phrase “put a toll on” in paragraph 1 mean?
A.Cause damage to. B.Give way to.
C.Bring more people to. D.Make more contributions to.
23.What might put the beach houses in danger?
A.The daily effects of winds and waves. B.The loss of wildlife’s home.
C.The ruins of houses left on beaches. D.The weak structure of the houses.
24.What can we know about the most recent collapse?
A.Six houses were washed away.
B.It happened because a storm hit.
C.It resulted in many people missing.
D.Police failed to contact the house owner.
25.What should be done according to the local officials?
A.Take measures to control rising sea levels.
B.Solve the problem by protecting the ecosystem.
C.Reduce the effect on tourism by clearing the ruins.
D.Strengthen the house structure or move to new places.

Do you get nervous when you talk to someone? Do you find it hard to have a conversation with a stranger? If you have such worries, it is time for you to learn some more conversation skills. 26
