三、阅读理解(共15小题,每小题2分,满分30分)
A
Have you ever had such an experience? You did some exercise the day before, and the next morning, even a small movement like sitting up in bed would cause muscle soreness. Now you want to exercise again, but you’re wondering: Can I still exercise when I’m so sore? Well, there is no exact answer; it depends.
Experts explain that soreness isn’t always bad. It’s normal to feel sore when you train hard or challenge your muscles in new ways. It is known as Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS, 延迟性肌肉酸痛). It usually reaches the peak (顶峰) within 48 hours and goes away in 72 hours. It happens because hard or new exercises break down muscle tissue (组织). Then your body tries to repair it, which causes soreness. Don’t worry- this breakdown helps your muscles grow stronger during the repair process.
What you should pay attention to is just how sore you feel. Rick Richey, a sports medicine teacher, says, “If your soreness is not serious, it’s okay to exercise. You just need to go easier, like lifting lighter weights or running slower.”
However, if your soreness is more than a mild ache, take a break. “Your body is smart—it tells you to stop, “Richey says. What’s more, exercising with super-sore muscles isn’t helpful. Sore muscles are not able to produce as much force and usually get tired more quickly. Richey says serious soreness can prevent you from getting better, and it might even make you hurt yourself.
If you really want to exercise, work on the muscles that don’t ache. For example, if your arms ache, exercise your legs. “If you’re sore in one muscle, look for other parts of your body you can exercise,” Richey says.
26.Which graph can show the change about DOMS in 72 hours?
A. B.
C. D.
27.What do we know about DOMS?
A.It is a kind of terrible illness. B.It makes your muscles weak forever.
C.It usually appears later after exercise. D.It happens only when you lift heavy things.
28.Why is it not helpful to exercise with super-sore muscles?
A.Because they may never recover. B.Because they will get tired faster.
C.Because they can produce more force. D.Because they will influence your sleep.
29.If your legs ache, what should you do according to Richey?
A.Stop all exercise. B.Take medicine right away.
C.Exercise your arms. D.Keep exercising your legs slowly.
30.What is the purpose of the passage?
A.To explain what causes DOMS.
B.To discuss whether to exercise with sore muscles.
C.To tell readers how to repair sore muscles quickly.
D.To introduce different ways to challenge your muscles.

Two years ago, I fell down a 12-meter waterfall and broke my pelvis (骨盆). I went from using a wheelchair to using crutches (拐杖), then to walking a block, and finally walking miles. Physical activity became even more important in my life. So why not make it enjoyable? I’ve wanted to learn to skateboard since I was a kid, but most of my time and energy went into dancing. For me, skating was similar to dancing.
On my 35th birthday, I bought my first skateboard. Most of my friends and family thought I was crazy, but only I knew why.
For a long time, I tried learning skating alone. I had no idea what I was doing and always felt awkward when many strangers saw me skating or simply trying to keep my balance. I felt nervous about what others thought, and it often stopped me from practicing.
One day, my friend Monica and I met some of the members of GRLSWIRL, a skateboarding club. They were so friendly that we wanted to join. This club was amazing. Even though everyone there was better than me, they were happy to help and cheered my progress. There, I gradually became more confident.
A big part of skating for me was facing my fear (恐惧) from the accident. Falling is normal in skating, but it was hard for me. But every time I fell, I learned it was okay. I learned that I could get up again. My fear slowly went away. I started skating as therapy (治疗), but it turned into an exciting activity that showed me many new possibilities.

Think about how much time you spent outside last week. Really “outside”. Walking from the car into the mall doesn’t count.
Now think about how much time you spent indoors—on the Internet or playing video games or watching TV.
You may say, “I play inside more than outside and I like to play games on the computer.”
If so, it’s likely that you spent more time inside four walls than outside in fresh air. Kids today spend two fewer hours per week on sports and outdoor activities than kids did 20 years ago. That’s according to a University of Michigan study. Non-moving activities are more popular. The costs “include overweight, greater stress, higher rates of physical and emotional illness and less joy, …” says Richard Louv, writer of Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder:
Play is important, even for adults. _________
Outdoor activity betters your senses. The next time you sit down to message your friends, take note of your senses during and after your texting. Then do the same experiment after you’ve done something outside. You will find being outdoors brings the senses to life. “Hiking, exploring, and fishing help hone all of your senses,” says Betsy Keller. She’s a professor of exercise and sports sciences at Ithaca College in New York. “Smell, sight … all of your senses are in use when you’re outside.”
Outdoor play frees your mind. Are you stressed out? Having trouble devoting your mind to what you’re doing? Too much time indoors— away from the natural world—may be a cause. Louv uses a term to describe the set of problems caused by too much time indoors: nature deficit disorder. He says, “I use it to describe the price we pay for being so separated from nature.”
Spending time outdoors brings you closer to the environment. When you’re out, breathe in fresh air, hear the leaves crackle underfoot and search for cool birds and plants in the woods. It can help you feel more connected to the natural world. No woods nearby? Nature can be found right outside your back door or in your local park.
So the next time you sit down to spend quality (高质量的) time with a video game, consider treating yourself to a little outdoor play instead.
36.How does the writer first introduce the topic of outdoor play?
A.By showing the results of a recent study.
B.By introducing different kinds of outdoor play.
C.By inviting the reader to think about his or her own case.
D.By telling the reader outdoor play is good for body and mind.
37.According to the passage, what can be one of the results of spending more time indoors?
A.Improving eyesight. B.Reducing stress level.
C.Getting better social skills. D.Increasing risk of physical illness.
38.Which sentence can be put in the blank in Paragraph 5?
A.Just getting outdoors does wonders.
B.Outdoor play helps to build relationships.
C.Nature can remind us of life beyond our worries.
D.The outdoors is the best place to practise physical skills.
39.Which word is closest to the meaning of “hone” in paragraph 6?
A.improve B.limit C.produce D.organize
40.Which of the following is a good way to enjoy outdoor play?
A.Walking from your car into the mall.
B.Spending your quality time with TV drama series.
C.Playing a video game of making sandcastles by the beach.
D.Watching in your local park how fast the clouds are moving.

At a press meeting (新闻发布会) in Beijing, Lei Haichao from the National Health Commission (NHC) said the plan is part of a new health-first strategy (策略). 42 Many people shared funny posts and drew cartoons about exercising and eating healthy.
Why does it matter? Over half of Chinese adults are now overweight. If something changes, this number could rise to 70% by 2030. Besides clinics, many cities also take the responsibility and build millions of sports parks and walking paths for citizens. More Chinese people are exercising outdoors.
Food habits are changing too. New dietary guides (饮食指南) mention healthy meals for different cities, such as steamed (蒸) fish with millet rice (小米饭) and vegetables in central China, and fresh seafood with vegetables in the south. 44 Office workers prefer salad bowls with chicken or fish. Even holiday snacks like mooncakes are now smaller and healthier. Doctors mix old Chinese recipes (食谱) with modern science. 45
Keeping healthy isn’t just about weight but eating well, moving more, and feeling happy. With these methods mentioned above, China hopes to build a healthier future for everyone.
A.People are choosing foods with less sugar and oil.
B.The news quickly gained popularity online.
C.To solve this, China started a three-year “weight management” activity in 2024.

C.Playing a video game of making sandcastles by the beach.

C
