①Nobody wants to lose, but we must accept that losing is a part of life. After all, we can’t win all the time. However, we can learn something valuable from every failure (失败). This may help us succeed in the future. So we must know how to be a good loser.
②We should not be afraid of losing. When we lose, just take it with a smile and look on the bright side of it. Failure can’t be avoided in our life. Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb (灯泡). When he was asked how he felt, he said that he hadn’t failed 10,000 times but had learned 10,000 things which didn’t work. We must know that history is full of examples of men and women who achieved success although they failed many times.
③Losing is not very disgraceful. We must accept our failure. Remember that it can be helpful. Take action (采取行动) to walk out of it. When we lose, think about what we did and how we can improve. If someone else can help, we’ll be lucky enough. Maybe he or she has been through the same experience before. Many people enjoy helping others solve problems. This can save us a lot of time in learning how to avoid the same mistakes in the future.
④In a word, being a good loser will help us to succeed in life. It might be agonizing (痛苦的) at the beginning, but there are many advantages. Good losers set examples to us, and most importantly, they finally win.

A growing number of people are using ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (人工智能) program, to create books for sale. Although sales have so far been slow, human writers are worried that ChatGPT-created books might hurt the writing and publishing industry (产业).
Brett Schickler is a salesman in New York. Until recently, he never imagined he could be a writer. But after learning about the ChatGPT program, Schickler found that he had a good chance.
Using the AI software (软件), Schickler created his first book, a 30-page children’s e-book, in a few hours. He sold it online and made less than $100. While that may not sound like much, it is enough to make him want to create other books using the software.
There were over 200 e-books in Amazon’s Kindle store that say ChatGPT is a writer or co-writer. And the number is rising daily. But because of the nature of ChatGPT and many writers’ failure to admit (承认) that they have used it, it is nearly impossible to get a full count of how many e-books may be written by AI.
Some professional writers are becoming worried about the effects (影响) that ChatGPT could have on the book publishing industry. Mary Rosenberger is the leader of a writer’s group. She said, “This is something we really need to be worried about—these books will flood the market and a lot of writers are going to be out of work.”

walk“行走”,动词;根据“Over the past 27 years”可知,时态为现在完成时(have/has done),主语he是第三人称单数,所以助动词用has,walk的过去分词为walked。故填has walked。
normal“正常的”,形容词;根据“…he left home at 7 am, but returned home late in the evening.”
see“看见”,动词;it is/was common to do sth.“做某事很常见”,所以此处用see的不定式结构to see。故填to see。
pain“痛苦”,名词;根据“It was…”
根据“He understood the importance of mail deliveries to the villagers…lived in the mountains.” 故填who/that。
praise“赞扬”,动词;根据“he…by lots of villagers”可知,此处是被动语态,描述一般事实用一般现在时,所以此处用一般现在时的被动语态am/is/are done;主语“he”是第三人称单数,be动词用is,praise的过去分词为praised。故填is praised。
he“他”,人称代词主格;介词to后接宾格,he的宾格是him,故填him。
stick to“坚持”,所以此处填介词to。故填to。

Qian Xuesen was born in Shanghai on December 11th 1911. He is known as “the father of China’s space program”.
When he was 24 years old, Qian went to America for further study. After graduation (毕业), he worked in America for a few years, where his working conditions were better. In the early 1950s, he heard that New China had been founded (成立), and he decided not to stay in America any longer. He succeeded in coming back to his motherland (祖国) in 1955 though the American government tried to stop him from leaving.
In 1956, Qian Xuesen suggested setting up a special organization, which later became the leading organization for China’s rocket and air travel. Eight years later, China successfully invented its first medium rocket. Qian also played an important role in developing China’s first man-made satellite (卫星). On April24,1970, “Dongfanghong-1” was successfully sent into the air.
Qian Xuesen was open-minded and a good listener. In 1964, a young man wrote Qian Xuesen a letter and pointed out a mistake in one of his published articles. Qian answered the letter at once and encouraged the young man to write an article about the mistake.
Zhu Yilin, who was said to be the last student of Qian Xuesen, once said. “I learned a lot of professional knowledge from Mr. Qian. I also learned the spirit of a scientist, especially his deep love for the motherland. Without that, he couldn’t have helped to develop science when New China was badly in need of scientists for its development. Without that, he would not have made the great contribution (贡献) to the rocket industry (工业) in the late 1950s and early 1960s when conditions in China were too hard.”
