Dumplings are traditional Chinese food. On the lunar New Year’s Day, most families make a lot of delicious dumplings. To make them, we can follow these easy steps.

The first step is to mix the flour with water. When the dough is ready, we can begin to make dumpling wrappers (薄皮). We roll the dough into small, thin and round pieces so that they can be easy to cook. Then it’s time to prepare the filling. Usually, we use meat such as beef or pork, and some vegetables for filling. Remember to cut these things into small pieces, put some salt and oil into them and mix them.

When all these are done, we can start making dumplings. First put a spoonful of filling in the center of the wrapper. Then stick (粘) the two opposite sides together. The best shape of dumplings is like a ship. When they are boiling in the pan, they look like ships sailing in the sea. The smell can make your mouth water.

One day, John read an advertisement in a newspaper. It said, “Wanted. The best salesman in the world.” John thought he was a great salesman and went to ask for the job. “I’m the best salesman in the world,” he said to the manager. “Give me the job.”

“You must prove you’re the best,” the manager said.

“OK, I will,” John said.

“Good.” The manager took several boxes of sweets（糖果）out of his desk. “Last week I bought a thousand boxes of sweets. If you can sell them all before the end of the week, you can have the job,” said the manager.

You may know different kinds of fruit salad. However, have you ever had chicken salad? I think my family has the best recipe to make chicken salad.     10

When I was young, I had a dream. It was to become a policeman. But now that’s not my dream job anymore. I want to be a doctor. It is my dream job because I can help people and being a doctor sounds nice.

If you want to be a doctor, you have to work very hard. First, you have to pass the high school subjects— math, physics and chemistry. That’s the only problem for me. I’m not very talented at school, but I’m trying my best. After high school you have to study hard for 4-5 years at university before you can become a doctor.

When you are a doctor, you can help more people although you have long working hours. I hope my dream will come true.
