From kindergarten-level and up, you’re sure to find books that are attractive to you and that your kids would enjoy too. Junior Paleontologist Activity Book More than 230 national parks are known to preserve fossils (化石) and offer a look into the past. By exploring some of the national parks in this booklet, children can learn about ancient life, as well as completing fun activities. Discover MyPlate: A MyPlate Meal Learn about the five food groups, healthy eating, and reading! This colorful book introduces kindergarten-aged children to foods from all five food groups of MyPlate, while building literacy skills (读写能力) through the use of sight words, interactive games and activities, and more! The Little Acorn The Little Acorn is written from the eye of a squirrel who buries an acorn near a stream. As it occasionally checks back on the oak nut, the squirrel sees for itself the tree’s growth during the course of seasonal changes. Spring rains, summer heat, and autumn winds condition the baby oak. What starts as a tiny seed in a tough shell finally grows into a “big, beautiful oak tree… dropping little acorns of its own.” Why Would Anyone Cut a Tree Down? This U.S. Forest Service publication teaches kids that “people need to cut some trees down, but that is not the end of the story.” It explores various uses for wood from cut trees—such as materials for construction, nutrients for fresh soil, and stumps for new shoots. The book also includes a note to adults about the basics of tree care. Cutting down a tree is a form of caring for that tree. It makes room for more life in the exchange of another. 1. Who is the text intended for? A. Young adults. B. Parents with kids. C. Pre-school children. D. Primary school teachers. 2. Which book probably suits the kids who are particular about food? A. Junior Paleontologist Activity Book B. Discover MyPlate: A MyPlate Meal C. The Little Acorn D. Why Would Anyone Cut a Tree Down? 3. What makes The Little Acorn different from the others? A. It offers a look into the past. B. It helps build literacy skills. C. It is written from an animal’s view. D. It tells adults something about tree care. 【答案】1 B 2. B 3. 根据第一段“From kindergarten-level and up, you’re sure to find books that are attractive to you and that your kids would enjoy too.(从幼儿园开始,你一定会找到对你有吸引力的书,你的孩子也会喜欢。)” 根据Discover MyPlate: A MyPlate Meal部分“This colorful book introduces kindergarten-aged children to foods from all five food groups of MyPlate, while building literacy skills (读写能力) through the use of sight words, interactive games and activities, and more!(这本色彩缤纷的书籍向幼儿园年龄段的儿童介绍了MyPlate中五大类食物,同时通过运用视觉词汇、互动游戏和活动等方式,培养他们的读写能力!)” 根据The Little Acorn部分“The Little Acorn is written from the eye of a squirrel who buries an acorn near a stream.(《小橡果》(The Little Acorn)是以一只在溪边埋下橡果的松鼠的视角来叙述的。)” C。 B “Reduce, reuse, recycle”, these are the three Rs that waste environmental activists have advocated (提倡). But how can we realize them? Recently, this idea came to life in China in a smart way at the Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring scenic spot in Dunhuang, Northwest China’s Gansu Province. During the tourist season, the scenic spot of Dunhuang has been flooded with visitors — around 20, 000 a day since July. The challenge of managing waste has become more pressing. In response, the scenic area has introduced an initiative (倡议): “Trash hunt for gifts.” Here’s how it works: Visitors are given trash bags and encouraged to pick up litter around the site. In return, they receive small gifts featuring Dunhuang’s rich cultural heritage. Inspired by the initiative, I thought, “Isn’t this another splendid form of the three Rs principle?” I still remember going to some scenic spots, especially historical sites where people gather in a small area, and seeing how littering is something we always have to struggle with. Not only does it influence the cleanliness of a site, but it also threatens the natural environment. Once I saw a family who had just arrived, eagerly filling their trash bags with litter. The children were excited to trade their collected trash for gifts, and their parents proudly explained how their small actions contributed to a cleaner, more enjoyable experience for everyone. This interaction created a sense of community and shared purpose among the visitors. The “Trash hunt for gifts” campaign (活动) does more than just cleaning up the area. It turns every visitor into an environmental activist, taking an active part in preserving the beauty of the site. This concept is also not unique to Dunhuang. Similar initiatives are seen across China: in Jiangxi’s Wu-kung Mountain, in Northeast China’s Xi’an Lin Tong, all around. These efforts highlight a growing trend (趋势) where tourists don’t just visit — they contribute. As we continue to explore and enjoy these natural wonders, it’s encouraging to see that many are also stepping up to protect them. 4. Why has the initiative “Trash hunt for gifts” been introduced in Dunhuang’s scenic spot? A. To relieve the pressure of cleaning-up. B. To control the number of flooding tourists. C. To raise the awareness of wildlife protection. D. To promote the development of local economy. 5. Why does the author mention a family in the third paragraph? A. To explain how the initiative works. B. To show that his thought was wrong at first. C. To prove that the initiative is really a good idea. D. To highlight the good education given to the children. 6. Which is true according to the text? A. Dunhuang is not alone in the campaign “Trash hunt for gifts”. B. Dunhuang takes the lead in the campaign “Trash hunt for gifts”. C. Dunhuang is catching up in the campaign “Trash hunt for gifts”. D. Dunhuang teams up with other places in the campaign “Trash hunt for gifts”. 7. Which is the best title of the text? A. A promising step towards a shared future. B. A new rule on turning tourists into volunteers. C. Tourists not only visit but also contribute. D. Tourism full of both opportunities and challenges. A 5. C 6. A 7. 根据第二段中“During the tourist season, the scenic spot of Dunhuang has been flooded with visitors — around 20, 000 a day since July. The challenge of managing waste has become more pressing. In response, the scenic area has introduced an initiative: ‘Trash hunt for gifts.’  (旅游旺季期间,敦煌景区游客络绎不绝——自7月起,日均游客量已达约2万人次。垃圾处理的难题也随之变得愈发紧迫。为应对这一情况,景区推出了一项名为‘捡垃圾换礼品’的倡议。)”可知,景区推出“捡垃圾换礼品”倡议的目的是想要缓解垃圾清理工作的压力。故选A。 根据第三段“Inspired by the initiative, I thought, ‘Isn’t this another splendid form of the three Rs principle?’ I still remember going to some scenic spots, especially historical sites where people gather in a small area, and seeing how littering is something we always have to struggle with. 根据第四段中“This concept is also not unique to Dunhuang. Similar initiatives are seen across China (而且这一理念并非敦煌独有,在国内多地都能看到类似的举措)”可知,敦煌并不是唯一一个参与“捡垃圾换礼品”活动的城市。故选A。 根据最后一段中“The ‘Trash hunt for gifts’ campaign does more than just cleaning up the area. It turns every visitor into an environmental activist, taking an active part in preserving the beauty of the site… These efforts highlight a growing trend where tourists don’t just visit— they contribute. C。 C A large number of people start experiencing strong loneliness in the few months following their graduation. Many people mistakenly think that loneliness can be ended by having more friends or by meeting new people but those who experienced loneliness for some time know that a person can have so many friends yet still feel lonely. Loneliness happens when you don’t have intimate relationships with your friends. Some of the main characteristics (特征) of an intimate relationship are common interests, openness and common life challenges. During college or high school years most of the people in a group will have the same problems. The upcoming exam which requires a lot of studying and the demanding professor are all problems that friends in the same group face at once. When a group of people face the same issues together, some kind of a bond is formed between them that makes their relationship more intimate. In such a case those people talk about their common problems, think together of solutions and even help each other go through them (by studying together for example). Loneliness can never appear in such an environment because each person will feel that he is on the same ship with others and nobody will hardly feel left out. What happens after graduation? After graduation each person usually takes a different path and finds himself fighting his own unique battle. Problems become no longer common between the same group of people because each of them develops his own special ones. Friends can become less connected to each other when each one of them lives a different life and this can reduce intimacy and promote loneliness. So how can this type of loneliness be ended? In such a case two things can be done. You can either share your new problems with your old friends and make sure you listen to theirs or you can make more friends at your new job to share with them what’s going on in your new life. The key to preventing loneliness is to find people who are fighting the same battle as you. When you do so, stick to them, share your experiences with them and you will never feel lonely. 8. Which statement will the author agree with? A. The feeling of loneliness will naturally disappear over time. B. The feeling of loneliness will disappear with more friends made. C. The feeling of loneliness can’t be ended by taking active actions. D. The feeling of loneliness can last even with many newly- made friends. 9. What does the underlined word “intimate” mean in paragraph 2? A. lasting B. close C. hard- earned D. open- minded 10. Why is loneliness not felt so widely during college or high school years? A. The students face similar situations. B. The students are too busy with their study. C. The students are required to work as a team. D. The students are not distanced by their living places. 11. What is the fourth paragraph mainly about? A. Who this type of loneliness affects most. B. Why this type of loneliness comes up. C. How this type of loneliness can be ended. D. What characteristics this type of loneliness has. D 9. B 10. A 11. 根据第一段中“Many people mistakenly think that loneliness can be ended by having more friends or by meeting new people but those who experienced loneliness for some time know that a person can have so many friends yet still feel lonely.(许多人会误以为,多交朋友、结识新面孔就能驱散孤独,但那些真切体会过孤独的人都明白:一个人就算朋友满座,内心也可能依旧孤独。)” 根据第二段“Loneliness happens when you don’t have intimate relationships with your friends. Some of the main characteristics (特征) of an intimate relationship are common interests, openness and common life challenges. During college or high school years most of the people in a group will have the same problems. The upcoming exam which requires a lot of studying and the demanding professor are all problems that friends in the same group face at once.(当你与朋友之间缺少intimate关系时,孤独感便会悄然滋生。 根据第三段“When a group of people face the same issues together, some kind of a bond is formed between them that makes their relationship more intimate. In such a case those people talk about their common problems, think together of solutions and even help each other go through them (by studying together for example). Loneliness can never appear in such an environment because each person will feel that he is on the same ship with others and nobody will hardly feel left out.(当一群人并肩面对同样的难题时,彼此之间就会产生一种联结,让关系变得更加亲密。在这样的氛围里,大家会一起吐槽共同的烦恼,合力琢磨解决办法,甚至互相帮扶着渡过难关(比如一起结伴学习)。在这种环境中,孤独感根本无从产生,因为每个人都会觉得自己和他人同舟共济,没有人会被冷落。)”可知,在大学或高中时期孤独感不那么普遍是因为学生们面临相似的情况。故选A。 根据第四段“What happens after graduation? After graduation each person usually takes a different path and finds himself fighting his own unique battle. Problems become no longer common between the same group of people because each of them develops his own special ones. Friends can become less connected to each other when each one of them lives a different life and this can reduce intimacy and promote loneliness.(那么,该如何摆脱这种孤独感呢? B。 D After a long day, you throw yourself onto the sofa and find yourself nodding off while watching TV. Then a loved one gently pushes you awake and reminds you to go to sleep-in bed. But when you get there, you find to your annoyance that you’re wide awake. Why is it so easy to fall asleep on the sofa? Sleep pressure is one reason why you fall asleep on the sofa. This refers to the strength of the biological drive for sleep. The longer you’ve been awake, the greater the sleep pressure. Your environment will also affect how likely you fall asleep. You might have just eaten a meal, your very comfortable sofa is in a warm room, with dim (昏暗的) lighting and maybe a TV program in the background. For many people, this environment is perfect for falling asleep. If you just fell asleep on the sofa for five minutes, you might not have too much trouble getting to sleep in bed. This is because a nap that short is unlikely to reduce your sleep pressure very much. But if you were asleep for an hour, it might be a different story. Your sleep cycles might also be working against you. Most sleep cycles are about 90 minutes long. They start with light sleep, progress to deep sleep and then end with light sleep again. If you wake up during deep sleep, you are probably going to feel groggy (昏昏沉沉的) and it might be easy to get back sleep when you go to bed. But if you wake up during light sleep, just after deep sleep, it could be harder to fall asleep again in bed. There are other reasons why falling asleep in your bed could be challenging. Many people experience anxiety about falling asleep. They worry about getting enough sleep or falling asleep fast enough. In such cases, getting into bed can be connected with feelings of stress and fear, which make it even harder to sleep. Then what is to be recommended? Good sleep hygiene, or healthy sleep habits. It includes having a regular routine (常规) before bed, a dark, quiet room to sleep in, and not using your mobile phone in bed. 12. What do we know from paragraph 2? A. The harder you work in the day, the greater your sleep pressure. B. The greater your sleep pressure is, the harder you fall asleep on the sofa. C. The more comfortable the environment is, the smaller your sleep pressure. D. The smaller your sleep pressure is, the less likely you fall asleep on the sofa. 13. In which case do you probably have the greatest trouble falling asleep again in bed? A. You are woken up in the first part of the sleep cycle. B. You are woken up in the second part of the sleep cycle. C. You are woken up in the last part of the sleep cycle. D. You are woken up just after a few minutes’ sleep on the sofa. 14. Which is a healthy habit according to the author? A. Going to bed earlier than 9 p. m. B. Keeping the mobile phone out of bed. C. Playing relaxing music in the bedroom. D. Doing some reading before going to bed. 15. Which is the overall structure of the text? (P= Paragraph) A. B. C. D. 【答案】12. D 13. C 14. B 15. 根据第二段中“Why is it so easy to fall asleep on the sofa? Sleep pressure is one reason why you fall asleep on the sofa. This refers to the strength of the biological drive for sleep. The longer you’ve been awake, the greater the sleep pressure. (为什么躺在沙发上就这么容易睡着?睡眠压力是你在沙发上入睡的一个原因。这指的是睡眠的生物驱动力的强度。你醒的时间越长,睡眠压力就越大)”可知,睡眠压力越大,在沙发上越容易入睡,反之,睡眠压力越小,在沙发上入睡的可能性就越小。故选D项。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“But if you wake up during light sleep, just after deep sleep, it could be harder to fall asleep again in bed. (但如果你在深度睡眠刚结束的浅睡阶段醒来,再次入睡可能会更困难)”可知,在深度睡眠结束后的浅睡阶段醒来,即在睡眠周期的最后一部分醒来,再次入睡可能最困难。故选C项。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Good sleep hygiene, or healthy sleep habits. It includes having a regular routine (常规) before bed, a dark, quiet room to sleep in, and not using your mobile phone in bed. Want to find out how you can learn a new language quickly without the need for expensive classes or language learning software? ___16___. I had been invited to go to my friend’s birthday party. Tori was not my best friend, but she was in my class and we did things together. And I like to go to parties. I asked my mom and she said I could go, so I told Tori that I’d be there. Then, two days later, my very, very best friend called, inviting me to go with her and her family to Disneyland for the whole day. Disneyland! I really wanted to go... more than anything. I ran to ask my mom if it was okay. That was when my mom reminded me that Tori’s party was on the same day. She said I couldn’t break my promise just because something better came along. I was so mad at it. Disneyland was my favorite place in the whole world and I loved to go there... and I especially liked going with my best friend. My excitement about going to the birthday party was gone. Tori’s party would be okay but not as fun as a whole day at Disneyland and besides that, Tori wasn’t even my best friend. I begged my mom. She said no. I cried. I became angry. My mom still said no. She asked me to think about how I would feel if someone did that to me. I thought about it. Although I didn’t want to agree, my mom was right. It would hurt my feelings if someone did that to me. After struggling for a while, I told my best friend that I wouldn’t be able to go to Disneyland with her. So my friend and her family went to Disneyland, while my mom dropped me off at Tori’s party. Para 1 As it turned out, I had great fun there, far more fun than expected. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para 2 When we were still in such excitement, my mom came to pick me up. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 As it turned out, I had great fun there, far more fun than expected. Tori’s living room was decorated with colorful balloons and streamers, and there were many classmates I knew. We played exciting games like pin the tail on the donkey and musical chairs. When it was time for the birthday cake, Tori lit the candles, and we sang the birthday song together. She even saved me a big piece of my favorite chocolate cake. During the party, Tori chatted with me happily, asking about my hobbies and sharing interesting stories about her family. I found that we had a lot in common, and I no longer regretted coming to the party. When we were still in such excitement, my mom came to pick me up. Tori ran over to me with a small gift box in her hand. She said it was a thank-you gift for coming to her party. I opened it and saw a cute handmade keychain with my name on it. I thanked her sincerely, and she gave me a big hug. On the way home, I showed the keychain to my mom and told her how wonderful the party was. My mom smiled and said, “See? Keeping a promise can bring you unexpected happiness.” I nodded firmly, realizing that keeping my word was more valuable than any fun trip. 词汇激活 行为类 ①询问:ask/inquire ②打开:open/unfold ③真诚地感谢她:thank her sincerely/express sincere thanks to her 情绪类 ①坚定地:firmly/resolutely ②意想不到的快乐:unexpected happiness/unforeseen joy 【点睛】【高分句型1】During the party, Tori chatted with me happily, asking about my hobbies and sharing interesting stories about her family. B “Reduce, reuse, recycle”, these are the three Rs that waste environmental activists have advocated (提倡). C A large number of people start experiencing strong loneliness in the few months following their graduation. D After a long day, you throw yourself onto the sofa and find yourself nodding off while watching TV. A. The harder you work in the day the greater your sleep pressure. B. C. I had been invited to go to my friend’s birthday party. Tori was not my best friend, but she was in my class and we did things together. And I like to go to parties. I asked my mom and she said I could go, so I told Tori that I’d be there. Then two days later, my very, very best friend called, inviting me to go with her and her family to Disneyland for the whole day. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
