Ready to take a closer look at the coolest museums in the world? I guarantee you haven’t heard about the following.
Ghibli Museum (Tokyo, Japan)
If you know about Japanese animation, then you know about illustrator and storyteller Hayao Miyazaki. The museum, which explores his most famous projects, is considered one of the best in the world. In fact, tickets usually sell out immediately. If you want to get your tickets, you probably need to work with an online service.
Museo Anahuacalli (Mexico City, Mexico)
Created by artist Diego Rivera in Mexico City’s San Pablo de Tepetlapa neighborhood of Coyoacán, this museum is the world’s first collection of pre-Columbian artwork. The difference is that you’re experiencing art and culture in a museum built by someone with a passion for his root and cultural inheritance instead of a museum built by an academic group, which is pretty unheard-of.
Museum of Old and New Art (Berriedale, Australia)
Welcome to one of the coolest museums in the world — and one of the most controversial (有争议的), thanks to its hyper-experimental exhibits. With that being said, this is one of the coolest museums in the world thanks to the fact that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s designed to be a hangout space where people can discuss art, debate it, and maybe even have a laugh.
Hong Kong Museum of History (Hong Kong, China)
What makes the Hong Kong Museum of History so endlessly explorable? First, Hong Kong has a fascinating history, one that involves a lot of cultures and traditions. Second, Hong Kong is tiny, meaning those cultures have been mixed up and changed into something unique and distinct, from its approach to national security to space exploration. Third, it’s a top-ranking and award-winning museum that’s free to the public.
1. What does the author imply about the Ghibli Museum’s tickets?
A. They are reasonably priced for all fans.
B. They are in high demand and hard to obtain.
C. They can be bought at the museum entrance.
D. They include free online services for visitors.
2. Which museum was established based on a person’s preference?
A. Ghibli Museum.
B. Museo Anahuacalli.
C. Museum of Old and New Art.
D. Hong Kong Museum of History.
3. What is the common feature of the four museums?
A. They were founded by famous artists.
B. They offer free admission to the public.
C. They focus on visual arts and experiments.
D. They highlight unique cultural experiences.

In a small village in Pakistan, I drove cattle along the village’s edge day in and day out. Life was simple as a cowherd (牧牛人), with mud homes and green fields, yet my dreams were great. One day, a group of students in uniforms sparked (引发) my curiosity. I demanded to see their books, and the pictures within the books fueled my imagination. I confirmed my dream to attend school.
Though my family was poor, my heart longed for the world beyond the village. Months later, my uncle, a man with great determination, convinced my parents of the value of education. I entered primary school, my mind absorbing every lesson like crazy.
My academic journey faced a challenge when I decided to study in Karachi, a dynamic city known for its rich culture and excellent schools. The villagers had a doubt that a boy from the fields could dream of such heights. Though I struggled with low spirits and even faced a difficult time, my brother’s words, “Your challenges are catalysts to success”, kept ringing in my mind. I turned to writing, finding comfort and recognition in words.
Years later, college fees were another obstacle. A mountain of debt seemed impossible to pay off. But I found a part-time job at a newspaper, which led to a chance to work in Hyderabad and then a career in calligraphy and advertising. This experience was a turning point, letting me see the world I had dreamed of, where my skills were valued and my potential was shown.
Reflecting on the past, the doubters hold no power. My story is a proof of the power of dreams and hard work. I hope my journey inspires others to chase their dreams, and to believe that every challenge is an opportunity to rise higher.

A robot dog moving around a show field during the Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival in Shandong Province became the center of attention on Tuesday, drawing crowds of curious onlookers.
The four-legged “field doctor”, with a special camera and intelligent recognition algorithms (算法), scanned rows of crops, uploaded data to a central platform, and produced a detailed report of the farmland. Song Zhihua, chairman of a digital technology company, said the smart robot dog consists of three main parts: the robot itself, environmental sensing equipment, and most importantly, a multispectral (多光谱的) camera with edge-computing capacity. “It focuses on crop growth, soil moisture, and pest detection. It’s just like a doctor for the fields,” Song said.
The main event of the eighth annual festival, held in Dahuchenjia Village of Zhaoyuan City, displayed the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in agriculture. From robots that pick fruit to drones (无人机) spraying crops, the exhibits highlighted how smart technology is transforming farming across China.

Scientists are worried that the largest iceberg (冰山) in the world is moving through the South Atlantic toward the island of South Georgia, which is a main breeding (繁殖) place for wildlife, especially penguins and seals.
The iceberg is officially known as A23a and it measures over 3,500 square kilometers. It has existed since 1986, when it broke off from the Antarctic shelf. But it didn’t leave Antarctica until 2020. Scientists have been using satellite imagery to follow the iceberg’s movements and their observations had shown the iceberg had not broken into smaller pieces like some other so-called “megabergs” that passed through the Southern Ocean. Predicting the iceberg’s exact path is difficult, but ocean conditions suggest it should reach South Georgia in two to four weeks.
Scientists are worried the iceberg will get caught on the underground continental shelf around South Georgia. If so, it could remain there for months or it could break into pieces, which could harm efforts by penguins and seals on the island to feed and raise their young. Icebergs that have grounded there in the past led to the deaths of young penguins and seals.
But Raul Cordero, a member of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research, believes it is possible that the iceberg could miss the shelf and continue moving into open waters beyond South Georgia. The island acts as an obstacle (障碍) to ocean currents and therefore usually makes the water change direction long before it reaches the island. The iceberg is moved by that water flow, so the chances of it hitting are not that high. However, some iceberg pieces could affect the island.
It is summer in South Georgia and penguins and seals from the area have been looking for food in the cold Antarctic waters to bring back to their young. They might have to go around the iceberg if it gets stuck, which would take a lot of their energy, possibly leading to animal deaths. The seal and penguin populations on South Georgia have already been having a “bad season” with cases of bird flu.
12. What can we learn about iceberg A23a from the text?
A. It has been moving since 2020.
B. It is a large iceberg for breeding.
C. It broke off from the Antarctic shelf in 2020.
D. Its path is more predictable than other icebergs.
13. What is Raul Cordero’s opinion about the iceberg’s path?
A. It will definitely hit the South Georgia Island.
B. It will probably miss out the South Georgia Island.
C. It will break into pieces on the South Georgia Island.
D. It will block ocean currents to the South Georgia Island.
14. What could happen if the iceberg gets stuck near South Georgia Island?
A. The iceberg will disappear more quickly.
B. It will bring bird flu virus to the island.
C. The weather there will become warmer.
D. Animals there will have trouble getting food.
15. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A. The History of Iceberg A23a.
B. How Icebergs Affect Global Sea Levels?
C. Scientists Monitor Iceberg A23a’s Threat.
D. The Role of Satellite Imagery in Tracking Icebergs.
【答案】12. A 13. B 14. D 15. C

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Led by Professor Brown, the Environmental Engineering Department in our university launched the “STEM Initiative” — a program focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The campus was full of excitement. All interested students were busy brainstorming their projects.
My best friend Sophie, dreaming of becoming a chemist, found me. “Kate, this is amazing! I want to build a model of a water cleaning system,” she said, “but I need your help to figure out how well it works.” I smiled and responded, “Of course! This is also a perfect chance to use math to solve real problems.” Our math teacher, Mr Evans, overheard us. “Teamwork makes dream work,” he remarked. “Remember, math is not just about equations — it’s the invisible engine that powers scientific discovery,” he added.
Inspired by his words, we threw ourselves into the project. While Sophie built the filter (过滤器) using layers of sand, small stones, and activated carbon, I took charge of testing and data analysis. I measured the water’s clarity before and after filtering, using simple math to see the improvement. Mr Evans often checked our progress. “Your analysis is turning a good idea into a solid project,” he said. Sophie agreed and said, “The data you’re collecting is making our model more scientific.” Through this process, I learned that math isn’t just a subject — it’s a powerful tool that helps us understand and improve the world.
Finally, the exhibition day arrived. The hall was filled with energy as many students eagerly showed their projects. Sophie and I presented our water filter model together. She demonstrated how it worked, while I showed a simple chart of how data analysis improved its efficiency. Among all the exciting projects, ours stood out for combining hands-on science with clear math. Mr Evans praised our teamwork. More importantly, we proved our practical approach could produce solid results — a fact that would soon be confirmed in an unexpected way.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
One month after the exhibition, Mr Evans called Sophie and me to his office. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Later, holding the invitation, we took our filter to Professor Brown’s lab to test it. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】参考范文:
One month after the exhibition, Mr Evans called Sophie and me to his office. “Sophie and Kate, I have good news for you,” he excitedly said, holding a letter. He told us that the Environmental Engineering Department in our university reviewed our project. They were impressed by how we used math to prove our filter’s efficiency with such simple materials. Our work gave them a practical model for their community water projects. Finally, Mr Evans showed us Professor Brown’s formal invitation to test our model at his lab. We stared in disbelief. Our joint project was now recognized by university engineers for its real-world potential.
Later, holding the invitation, we took our filter to Professor Brown’s lab to test it. Under his guidance, we used advanced equipment to run precise tests on our model. As the data streamed in, showing a remarkable reduction in heavy metals, Sophie and I exchanged smiles. “Your design principles are sound,” Professor Brown noted, “and this data validates them convincingly.” Surrounded by scientists and experts, I truly grasped the power of the “STEM Initiative”. It wasn’t just about completing a school project. It was about the incredible opportunity it created, proving that our curiosity, when combined with the right tools and teamwork, could lead to work with genuine real-world significance.

4. What first inspired the author to chase education?
A. The dynamic culture of Karachi.
B. His brother’s encouraging words.
C. The pictures in the students’ books.
D. His uncle’s persuasion to his parents.
5. What does the underlined word “catalysts” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Barriers. B. Driving forces. C. Selections. D. New sufferings.
6. Which is key to the author’s career success?
A. His early experience as a cowherd.
B. His excellent academic performance.
C. His working experience at a newspaper.
D. His receiving recognition at college in Hyderabad.
7. What is the author’s main purpose in writing the text?
A. To describe the challenges of rural life in Pakistan.
B. To explain the importance of family support in education.
C. To share his personal career development in creative industries.
D. To encourage readers to achieve their dreams despite difficulties.

Apart from the robot dog designed for field management, a fruit-picking robot developed by the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Machinery Sciences impressed participants with its perfect operation. Equipped with visual recognition and real-time data integration technology, it could detect mature fruit and pick it with a mechanical hand. “Farmers could simply relax in a chair, push a button, and let machines do the plowing, sowing, and harvesting. In the future, all operations will be unmanned,” said the vice-president of the academy.
At the main venue in Zhaoyuan, the program featured a special public celebration, five themed exhibitions, and five special activities, including displays of seed industry advances, modern farming machinery, and smart agriculture applications such as unmanned tractors and farm robots.
It is reported that the country’s high-standard farmland has expanded to about 67 million hectares. The mechanization rate of crop planting and harvesting has exceeded 75 percent, and smart equipment is increasingly integrated into every stage of production.
