____________They are kitchen waste, recyclable waste, harmful waste, and other waste.Beijing needs to do more to effectively sort about 26,000 tons of garbage it is producing every day.

First, garbage sorting needs everybody to do their responsibilities (责任). People need to be educated about the whole process of throwing the garbage.

Second, truck drivers usually pick up garbage cans from different communities, and their behavior (表现) must be regulated (约束). There have been cases of people having sorted their garbage into different cans. But a pick-up truck mixes the garbage all together.

Third, it might be a good idea to recruit volunteers to see if people put the waste in the right way. In 2019, the total number of the old in Beijing reached 2.4 million. Maybe they could take turns to monitor the garbage cans.

However, garbage sorting is still a big problem in China.Only 30 per cent of people said they think they are sorting their trash carefully. So it might take months, even years for Beijing to get used to garbage sorting, but a clean environment will be worth the effort.
