Relationships with your siblings(兄弟姐妹) can help you practice social skills. Having a good relationship with them can help you communicate with other people, and understand other people’s feelings. You can even learn things when you don’t get on with your siblings. When you have argued(争吵) with them, you have to work out how to be in the same space as them. As a result, you often learn how to accept differences. It is very useful in the outside world.
It’s completely normal(正常的) that sometimes you and your sibling won’t see eye to eye. “Have a good think about why the two of you don’t get on. Try to talk when you both cool down,” says Dr. Owen, a researcher in how children develop. “Tell them how you feel. You could say, ‘It really hurts me when you make jokes about me.’ If the trouble carries on, talk to a trusted adult(成年人).”
All families are different. What if you don’t have siblings? That doesn’t mean you won’t experience the advantages people get from having a brother or sister. There are ways to help only children develop these skills too.
66.What is Paragraph 1 mainly about?
A. Advantages of having siblings.
B. Causes of arguing with others.
C. Practices of accepting differences.
D. Ways of building relationships.
67.What do the underlined words “see eye to eye” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Joke with each other.
B. Hear from each other.
C. Agree with each other.
D. Learn from each other.
68.What will probably be talked about next?
A. Why all families are different.
B. When we can talk to a trusted adult.
C. What is important for communication.
D. How only children develop social skills.
根据第一段“Relationships with your siblings(兄弟姐妹) can help you practice social skills.”
根据第二段“It’s completely normal(正常的) that sometimes you and your sibling won’t see eye to eye.”和“Have a good think about why the two of you don’t get on. Try to talk when you both cool down”可知,此处指兄弟姐妹间的不合,即出现不同意对方看法的情况。因此see eye to eye意为“同意彼此的看法”。
根据最后一段“There are ways to help only children develop these skills too.”

The Civilian Mobile Library offers books for free. Readers are invited to take one book every 15 days. They are encouraged to pass it on to someone else once they’ve finished reading. And they are not expected to return the book.
The library is just seven square meters in size but houses thousands of books on different subjects. “It might be the smallest library in the world,” said Xu Dawei, the owner. “But in another sense, it’s also the biggest because the books keep moving. Once, a reader took a book on Chinese garden history. After finishing it, the reader passed it to a neighbour. The neighbour then took it to Germany!”
“I’ve read thousands of books,” Xu said. “Books have truly changed my life.” The idea of starting a library took shape in 2000, when Xu recommended(推荐) online a list of his favorite books to university students, but many of them said they couldn’t find those books in their school libraries or local bookstores. So he began sending his books to readers for free. “They all wrote me letters expressing their thanks. It inspired me to take it farther, turning my book⁃gifting into a physical space,” Xu said.
“All the readers have to do is to come. Even if they finish a book and decide not to pass it on, at least the book benefited(使受益) one person and perhaps their family, helping them fall in love with reading,” Xu said. “And this is my dream.”

Hi,Cayitam!I’d recommend Sapiens:A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. It’s a fascinating introduction to human history, telling the story of humans from ancient days to today’s modern world. The book talks about big turning points in human history. Harari also asks interesting questions, such as whether things like money or nations are just“stories”we all believe in together. It’s an easy⁃to⁃read book that makes you think differently about history. Happy reading! LinguaSpark

Sanket Reddy has spent years in forests around the world taking photos of wildlife. While the animals have always interested him, the people who live alongside them have changed how he sees the world and himself. “Life lessons from those people have truly stayed,” he says.
From South India to Central America, Sanket has met communities who live in peace with nature. “They understand the value of every species(物种), no matter how small,” he says. “Even if you are just watching sparrows(麻雀), you might try to understand why they are doing what they are doing.” In our busy lives, we often fail to notice these small moments(瞬间). But to Sanket, they matter. Because noticing is the first step towards caring. And once you care, the protection of wildlife feels like a natural thing.
For Sanket, wildlife photography has never been about becoming famous. “I do it to add value to animals’ lives,” he says. “Don’t do it to get a few good pictures.”

A new study warns that millions of Europeans could die from heat⁃related causes by the end of the century. The study was based on predicted climate activities in 854 different European cities. It found that hot weather could kill as many as 2.3 million people in Europe by 2100.
Presently, cold weather kills far more people in Europe than hot weather. But the study found that as temperatures continue to rise, deaths from cold weather will reduce over time. However, heat⁃related deaths are predicted to rise greatly.
The researchers said the number of predicted deaths could be reduced if nations are able to find better ways of cutting down carbon(碳) pollution levels. They called for increased efforts to reduce greenhouse gases and develop air⁃cooling systems in parts of Europe. Without such efforts, places in Italy, southern Spain and Greece are likely to see large increases in heat deaths related to climate change.
On the other hand, much of Scandinavia and Britain are predicted to see fewer cold⁃related deaths, largely because low temperatures are expected to be moderate.
Pierre Masselot helped lead the research of the environmental effects on human health. “The Mediterranean(地中海) is a so⁃called climate hotspot,” he said. “It’s an area that is warming much quicker than the rest of the world. And Malta is right in the middle of it.” The study predicts Malta’s temperature⁃related deaths will increase by 269 in every 100,000 people by the end of the century.
European officials reported several heat waves have killed thousands of people in recent years. The highest number was in 2003 when about 70,000 deaths were recorded. Among the areas predicted to see the most deaths from future temperature rises is Barcelona, Spain. The study found almost 250,000 people could die from temperature⁃related causes in that city by 2100.
( )27.What can we infer(推断) from the article?
A. Temperatures in Europe are keeping on going up now.
B. The whole of Europe will face the danger of hot weather.
C. The study has researched enough actual climate activities.
D. About 854 European cities are suffering from hot weather.
( )28. Which paragraph talks about how to reduce the heat⁃related deaths?

Saturn(土星) is famous for the beautiful rings around it. Now, it’s getting attention for being even more amazing. Scientists have discovered 128 new moons around Saturn, bringing the planet’s total to 274. A moon is any naturally formed object that moves around a planet. Moons come in different shapes and sizes.
Scientists discovered the moons with a powerful telescope(望远镜), which is used to study stars and planets in great detail. Scientists took many photos of areas in space and piled them on top of each other to make the moons appear bright enough to discover.
Most of Saturn’s new moons are small objects, just one or two miles wide—quite different to Earth’s Moon, which is a 2,159⁃mile⁃wide ball. These space rocks are in unusual orbits(轨道) too. They go around Saturn in the opposite direction to its own movement. At between 6.5 million and 18 million miles away from the ringed planet, the newly discovered moons are also further away than Saturn’s biggest moon, Titan.
Why does Saturn have so many moons while Earth only has one? According to scientists, several billion years ago, the giant planet’s gravity attracted some rocks and ice. Over time, some of them crashed against each other, breaking into smaller pieces or coming together to create many small moons.
The new moons were first discovered in 2023 by a team of scientists led by Edward Ashton, and were recently confirmed by the International Astronomical Union(IAU). Saturn now is the planet with the most moons—Jupiter is not far behind with 95. However, Dr Ashton believes this might be the limit for moon discovery. “I don’t think Jupiter will ever catch up,” he said. “With present technology, I don’t think we can do better than what has already been done,” he added.
( )31.What do we know about the new discovery?
A. Newly found moons look the same.
B. Scientists found new moons by accident.
C. Saturn’s rings attract many scientists.
D. 128 new moons were found around Saturn.
( )32.What does “the ringed planet” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. Earth. B. Saturn.
C. Moon. D. Titan.

( )33.What led to the large number of Saturn’s moons?
A. The size of the planet.
B. The weights of the moons.
C. The orbit of the planet.
D. The crashes of the moons.
D
( )34.What can we learn from Dr Ashton’s words in the last paragraph?
A. Jupiter will soon catch up with Saturn.
B. Saturn’s new moons might support life.
C. The IAU presented a medal to his team.
D. He is satisfied with their moon discovery.

Do students in your country worry about how they look? What makes them feel this way? What do you think about it?
In Sweden, many students worry about that. Social media is a big reason. The pictures online often show people who look perfect. Students compare themselves with these pictures and feel nervous. We need more real and different kinds of beauty in the media. Also, learn to accept ourselves and think carefully about what we see online.
Folke Borgstrom,18,Sweden
In my class, not many classmates worry about that. In Singapore, people are from many different cultures,so there are many different ideas of beauty. People won’t stop being your friend just because of how you look. In Singapore, schools let students truly be themselves, and people care more about your personality(性格).
Huang Luofei,13,Singapore
Many students in Mexico feel nervous about that. I’ve seen classmates get anxious(焦虑的)when they get pimples on faces. Others talk about makeup skills in the restroom. I think things like social pressure from friends, bullying and seeing stars influence these feelings. Remember, nobody is perfect, and it’s OK to look different.

The population of tigers in India has doubled over 12 years, according to a government report. The big cats’ numbers rose from 1,706 tigers in 2010 to 3,682 in 2022. This means that about 75% of the world’s tigers now live in the country.
In India, tigers have disappeared from some areas as humans have cut down forests and other natural lands in order to build cities, homes, and farms. Today, tigers in India share 3% of their habitat(栖息地) with about 60 million people. This has brought the animals closer to human areas in search of food, which has led to fights between the people and the big cats.
Since 1973, the Indian government has been working to save the animals through a program called Project Tiger. It has created strong laws and increased the number of tiger protected areas from nine to more than fifty all over the country.
Conservation organizations(保护组织) have also been working to protect habitats, support tiger populations, and help people live peacefully alongside tigers. This includes educating people about the animals and providing money for farmers whose animals are killed by the big cats.
Researchers said the results showed that conservation can do good to both animals and people and that the two can live successfully even when they live close together. “What the research shows is that it’s not the human population, but the attitude(态度) of people, that matters more,” said Yadvendradev V. Jhala, the study’s lead author.

All the little squirrels did exercises to get ready for the big day. They practiced running, climbing, and jumping. Everyone wanted to win the Nut Hunt(找坚果比赛).
L(2025·安徽)
Deep in the woods lived a little squirrel(松鼠) called Nico. One day, Nico saw some orange leaves falling off the trees. “Fall is here!” Nico shouted excitedly. “It’s time for Nutty Nut Day!”
When the game kicked off, the little squirrels in the starting circle all ran in different directions.
Nico started the hunt well. He jumped around, looking for the nuts under the orange leaves.
“Oh, I found one! My first nut!” Nico said happily and picked up the nut. He continued the hunt, holding the nut in his little paw(爪子).
“Oh, another one!” Nico cheered. He picked up the nut with another paw and moved on.
But when Nico tried to pick up the third nut, he faced a problem.
“How can I carry these three nuts with two paws to the starting circle?” Nico thought. “Oh, I know!”
Nico put the nuts on top of one another and tried to carry them all together. But the nut tower was too high, and he couldn’t see the way! Ouch! Nico fell and dropped all of the nuts!
“I might carry one nut in one paw and two nuts in another paw,” Nico said.

Water is important in our life, but sometimes water can be dangerous. So we must pay attention to water safety, especially for kids. Water safety for kids often happens at home and in the pool. Here are some suggestions.
▲Be careful of hot water. Hot water can be dangerous, especially for kids under five. Young kids have thinner skin(皮肤) than adults, so it’s easier for them to be burnt. You can reduce the risk by testing the temperature of the water with your wrist(腕) or elbow(肘) before placing your kid in the bath.
▲Watch out for danger in the bathroom. The bathroom is full of danger for young kids. Parents can’t leave them alone in the bathrooms. When young kids are in the bathrooms, remember to put away all the electrical appliances(设备) to avoid the risk.
▲Never let kids swim alone. Swimming in the pool may make kids feel great. But it is not a perfect sport because of the risk of injury(伤害). It’s dangerous when kids stay in the pool alone because they may even drown(溺亡). So kids should swim with their parents.
Everyone should realize the importance of water safety. To keep kids safe, we need to follow the suggestions above.

One sunny morning, a young boy named Daniel was walking through a forest when he noticed a small, struggling butterfly trying to break free from its cocoon(蚕茧). Curious, Daniel stopped to watch. The butterfly was pushing hard, but it seemed stuck(被卡住). Feeling sorry for the little creature(生物), Daniel decided to help. He gently tore(撕开) open the cocoon, and the butterfly came out easily. However, something was wrong. The butterfly’s wings were shriveled(皱缩的) and weak. So it couldn’t fly. Daniel didn’t understand what had happened.
An old man passing by saw the scene and explained, “The struggle to break free from the cocoon is what gives the butterfly the strength to fly. By helping it, you took away its chance to grow strong.” Daniel realized his mistake. He had wanted to help, but his actions had actually harmed the butterfly. He knew that challenges and struggles are necessary for growth. Sometimes, what seems like a kind act can prevent someone from developing the strength they need to succeed in life.

There was once a peacock in the forest. He had beautiful feathers. However, his terrible voice made him think of his shortcomings. He was sad.
One day, he heard a nightingale singing nearby. After listening to the nightingale’s sweet voice, he got sadder. He began wondering why he was unlucky not to have a sweet voice. At that moment, a monkey appeared. He found the peacock unhappy.
“Why are you unhappy?” the monkey asked.
The peacock talked about his terrible voice and how sad he was because of it. “The nightingale has such a beautiful voice. Why don’t I?”
After listening to the peacock, the monkey explained, “Every living being is special in his own way. The nightingale has a beautiful voice, but you are also lucky—you have beautiful feathers! Just accept what you have and take full advantage of it.”
The peacock understood how silly he had been in comparing himself to others and forgetting his own advantages. For anyone who is like the peacock, I would say:__________________________________________
