Get ready, Disney fans! Zootopia 2 is back on the big screen on November 26th in both North America and China. This time, old friends and new faces join the adventure (冒险). Let’s see what surprises they bring us!
The story begins when a snake named Gary comes to Zootopia. Gary is a 10-meter-long pit viper (蝮蛇). Because he is the first reptile (爬行动物) in Zootopia, all the other animals in Zootopia cry and run away when they see him! Gary quickly makes the busy city upside down! But Gary says the only reason why he comes to the city is his grandma’s notebook. Why does Gary need it? Judy and Nick, the famous rabbit-and-fox team, must go undercover (卧底) to new parts of Zootopia to find the answer. However, during their trip, they find that the more information they know, the bigger danger they face.
Fans may think about one question: Is Gary a new friend or a bad guy? When Gary tells Judy, “Snakes aren’t the bad guys,” Nick doesn’t think so. He can’t believe in Gary. But our kind rabbit officer Judy still believes that in Zootopia, “Anyone can be anything.”
Now the movie is in theaters, so why not go to watch it to see who is right? It must hit theaters in these months. Don’t miss the wild ride!

Some animals can easily find their way home after a long journey. How do they make it? Scientific research shows that they are born with certain unusual abilities for navigation (导航) and direction.
A certain kind of ants, for example, can count their steps to avoid getting lost. They can go as far as 110 meters and bring food home. These ants live in the open desert, so they have nothing to guide them along the way. It’s like someone walking six kilometers through a dark forest.
Some fish have an unbelievable sense of smell. They can smell even a single drop of their home water in a large sea area. Some sea birds have a similar ability. They are able to make a smell map of their flying area.
Some animals can sense the earth’s magnetic field (磁场), while humans can’t. This magnetic field guides a certain kind of fish when they swim a long way to a place and then come back. How can this kind of fish do that? It is still an enigma. Scientists have no good answers yet.
However, animals with such unusual abilities still have difficulty dealing with environmental changes caused by human activities. For example, many birds depend on stars for direction, but they get lost easily at night when city lights are kept on all night. To solve this problem, we can simply turn off some lights at night. Clearly, one small act of humans may mean a lot to animals.
32. Why does the writer mention “someone walking six kilometers through a dark forest”?
A. To compare the difficulty of the ants’ journey.
B. To show how far humans can walk in the dark.
C. To explain why ants need to count their steps.
D. To show that humans are worse at navigation than ants.
33. The underlined word “enigma” in Paragraph 4 means “______”.
A. mystery B. fact C. prediction D. result
34. What can we know from the passage?
A. All animals use the same special ability to find their way home.
B. The fish’s ability to smell home water helps them find their way back.
C. Scientists fully understand how animals use magnetic fields for navigation.
D. The abilities animals have for finding directions are all learned after they are born.
35. What’s the best title for this passage?
A. A Great Mystery of Fish and Magnetic Fields.
B. Why Some Animals Get Lost in Human World.
C. How All Animals Use Their Natural Sense of Direction.
D. Animal Navigation: Natural Gifts and Human Challenges.

When Aasritha Duriseti saw her grandmother having a hard time opening a bottle cap, she wanted to find a solution. It became a part of her project for an eighth-grade class at Carson Middle School.
Her class subject was engineering, which is a field that includes inventing, designing, testing and building systems, processes and products to solve problems. Students were tasked with making changes to a product to make it easier for people with challenges to use in their lives.
To find a solution for her grandmother, Aasritha explored what kinds of bottle openers had already been made, and then she created her own. For the improved bottle opener design, Aasritha used a piece of wood shaped like a cellphone. Next, she put three holes in the wood. The holes were different sizes, so that they could match common bottle cap sizes. Each hole also had a layer of dried, sticky hot glue. The glue layer provided a firm grip (紧握) for the bottle caps. With a simple twisting (扭转) motion, her grandmother could open bottles without help.
Students like Aasritha used math, physics and tool skills to deal with challenges people face. They also learned about empathy. It is important in engineering because engineers need to put themselves in the shoes of the person using the product.
51. Why did Aasritha want to design a new bottle opener?
Because she wanted to ______________________________________.
52. What did Aasritha do before creating her own bottle opener?

B. Why Some Animals Get Lost in Human World.
C. How All Animals Use Their Natural Sense of Direction.

57. That can’t be Eric’s
58. Whose jacket is it
59. How do you know that
60. Do you know where he is
【解析】
【导语】本文是一段对话。这段对话围绕“在操场捡到一件黄色夹克,推测其主人”展开,最后B通过夹克口袋里的学生证,确定主人是John,两人决定将夹克送还。
【56题详解】
根据“Have you seen Eric?”和“He is in the classroom right now.”可知,此处为肯定回答。故填Yes, I have。

例文
Dear Ben,
Thank you for your email. I’m very happy to answer your questions. I go to the cinema about twice a month. It’s a great way to relax with friends, but I can’t go more often because tickets are a bit expensive. I often watch movies online because it is convenient and saves time. My favorite type is action movies. I enjoy them because they are exciting and full of adventure. They make me feel happy and energetic. I hope this helps with your survey. Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Yang Lin
