A
When asked to point out one or two things that are most important to themselves, many put friends ahead of homes, jobs, clothes and cars.
A true friendship carries a long history of experience that determines(确定)who we are and keeps us connected. It is a treasure we should protect. Unfortunately the better friends you are, the more probably you'll have disagreements. And the result can be what you don't want—an end to the relationship.
The good news is that most troubled friendships can be mended. First, don't let your pride get in your way. Most of us can forgive each other when differences are brought out in the open. Second, apologize when you're wrong—even if you've been wronged. Over the course of a friendship, even the best people make mistakes. Sometimes, it may be best if the wronged person takes the lead and apologizes. When you apologize, give your friend a chance to admit that he has been wrong. Third, see things from your friend's point of view(观点). And finally, accept that friendships change as our needs and lifestyles change. Making friends can sometimes seem easy. The hard part is keeping the connections strong during the natural ups and downs that have an effect on all relationships. My suggestion: Consider the friendship an honor and a gift, and worth the effort to treasure and nurture(培养).

A. Stick to our own point of view. B. Avoid making mistakes.
C. Make an apology first. D. Change our lifestyles.

When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go of your anger. But forgiveness is possible — and it can be surprisingly helpful to your physical and mental health. Indeed, research has shown that people who forgive report more energy, better appetite (胃口)and better sleep patterns. “People who forgive show less anger and more hopefulness,” says Dr. Frederic Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good. “So it can help save on the wear and tear, and allow people to feel more energetic.”
So when someone has hurt you, calm yourself first. Take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, or someone you love. Don’t wait for an apology. “Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing,” says Dr. Luskin. “They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don’t see things the same way. So if you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting a very long time.” Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean accepting the action of the person who upset you. Mentally going over your hurt gives power to the person who brought you pain. Instead, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you. Finally, try to see things from the other person’s perspective (视角). You may realize that he or she was acting out of ignorance (无知), fear — even love. To gain perspective, you may want to write a letter to yourself from that person’s point of view.
5. The text is mainly written to explain_________.
A. how to keep yourself from being hurt B. how to stay mentally healthy
C. how and when to remain calm D. why and how to pardon others
6. When someone has deeply hurt you, it’s not easy for you to_________.
A feel very angry B. let go of your anger
C. keep remembering it D. let your anger appear
7. According to the writer, what is the right way to calm down after being hurt?
A. Trying to figure out why you get hurt.
B. Writing a letter to the person who hurt you.
C. Persuading yourself to accept what others have done to you,
D. Thinking about pleasant things and forgetting the hurt.
8. Dr. Luskin advises us not to wait for an apology after being hurt because
A. we are not patient enough
B. we’d feel worse accepting others’apology
C. people seldom want to apologize
D. people don’t mean it when they apologize

Betty and Harold have been married for years. But one thing still puzzles (困扰) old Harold. How is it that he can leave Betty and her friend Joan sitting on the sofa, talking, go out to a ballgame, come back three and a half hours later, and they’re still sitting on the sofa? Talking?
What in the world, Harold wonders, do they have to talk about?
Betty shrugs. Talk? We’re friends.
Researching this matter called friendship, psychologist Lillian Rubin spent two years interviewing more than two hundred women and men. No matter what their ages, their jobs, their sexes, the results were completely clear: women have more friendships than men, and the difference in the content and the quality of those friendships is “marked and unmistakable”.
More than two-thirds of the single men Rubin interviewed could not name a best friend. Those who could were likely to name a woman. Yet three-quarters of the single women had no problem naming a best friend, and almost always it was a woman. More married men than women named their wife/husband as a best friend, most trusted person, or the one they would turn to in time of emotional distress (痛苦). “Most women,” says Rubin, “identified (认定) at least one , usually more , trusted friends to whom they could turn in a troubled moment, and they spoke openly about the importance of these relationships in their lives.”
“In general,” writes Rubin in her new book, “women’s friendships with each other rest on shared emotions and support, but men’s relationships are marked by shared activities.” For the most part, Rubin says, interactions(交往) between men are emotionally controlled—a good fit with the social requirements of “manly behavior”.
“Even when a man is said to be a best friend,” Rubin writes, “the two share little about their innermost feelings. Whereas a woman’s closest female friend might be the first to tell her to leave a failing marriage, it wasn’t unusual to hear a man say he didn’t know his friend’s marriage was in serious trouble until he appeared one night asking if he could sleep on the sofa.”
9. What old Harold cannot understand or explain is the fact that .
A. he is treated as an outsider rather than a husband
B. women have so much to share
C. women show little interest in ball games
D. he finds his wife difficult to talk to
10. According to the text, which type of behavior is NOT expected of a man by society?
A. Ending his marriage without a good reason.
B. Spending too much time with his friends.
C. Complaining about his marriage trouble.
D. Going out to ball games too often.
11 Which of the following statements is best supported by the last paragraph?
A. Men keep their innermost feelings to themselves.
B. Women are more serious than men about marriage.
C. Men often take sudden action to end their marriage.
D. Women depend on others in making decisions.
12. The research done by psychologist Rubin centers on is about .
A. happy and successful marriages B. friendships of men and women

根据第一段中的“But forgiveness is possible-and it can be surprisingly helpful to your physical and mental health. Indeed, research has shown that people who forgive report more energy, better appetite (胃口)and better sleep patterns. “People who forgive show less anger and more hopefulness,” says Dr. Frederic Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good. “So it can help save on the wear and tear, and allow people to feel more energetic.”(但宽恕是可以做到的——而且它对你的身心健康有着惊人的益处。
根据第一段中的“When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go of your anger.(当有人深深伤害了你,要放下心中的怒火是极其困难的。)”
根据第二段中的“So when someone has hurt you, calm yourself first. Take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, or someone you love. (所以当有人伤害你时,先让自己冷静下来。深呼吸几次,想一想那些让你开心的事:比如大自然的美景,或者你爱的人。)”以及“Instead, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you. (相反,要学会去发现身边的爱、美好与善良。)”可知,作者认为受伤后平复情绪的正确方式是想开心的事,忘掉伤害。故选D项。
【8题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Don’t wait for an apology. “Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing,” says Dr. Luskin. “They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don’t see things the same way. So if you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting a very long time.”(不要等待道歉。拉斯金博士说:“很多时候,伤害你的人可能根本没想过要道歉。他们可能就是故意要伤害你,或者只是看待问题的方式和你不同。所以如果你等着别人道歉,可能会等很久很久。”)”可知,拉斯金博士建议受伤后不要等道歉,是因为人们很少会主动道歉。故选C项。

【9题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章第一段的“But one thing still puzzles old Harold. How is it that he can leave Betty and her friend Joan sitting on the sofa, talking, go out to a ballgame, come back three and a half hours later, and they’re still sitting on the sofa? Talking?(但有一件事始终困扰着Harold。为什么每次他出门看球赛前,Betty和好友Joan坐在沙发上聊天,等他三个半小时后回来,她们竟依然坐在沙发上聊个不停?)”可知,使Harold迷茫不解的是当他出门看球赛三个半小时后,发现妻子和她的朋友仍然坐在沙发上交谈,因此可推断他不明白为什么女人会有那么多东西相互分享。故选B。
【10题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章最后一段““Even when a man is said to be a best friend,” Rubin writes, “the two share little about their innermost feelings. Whereas a woman’s closest female friend might be the first to tell her to leave a failing marriage, it wasn’t unusual to hear a man say he didn’t know his friend’s marriage was in serious trouble until he appeared one night asking if he could sleep on the sofa.”(Rubin写道:“即便被公认为挚友的男性之间,也极少吐露内心深处的感受。当女性的密友会率先劝她逃离破碎的婚姻时,男性却常出现这种情况:直到某个深夜朋友突然敲门询问能否借宿沙发,他才惊觉对方的婚姻早已危机四伏。”)”可知,男性之间很少吐露内心深处的感受,且知道深夜朋友来借宿沙发,才知道对方的婚姻早已危机四伏,由此可推知男性很少跟朋友抱怨自己的婚姻的问题。故选C。
【11题详解】
推理判断题,根据文章最后一段“Even when a man is said to be a best friend,” Rubin writes, “the two share little about their innermost feelings.( Rubin写道:“即便被公认为挚友的男性之间,也极少吐露内心深处的感受”。)” 故选A。
根据文章第四段“Researching this matter called friendship, psychologist Lillian Rubin spent two years interviewing more than two hundred women and men. No matter what their ages, their jobs, their sexes, the results were completely clear: women have more friendships than men, and the difference in the content and the quality of those friendships is “marked and unmistakable”.(为了研究“友谊”这一课题,心理学家Lillian Rubin花费两年时间访谈了二百余位男女。无论受访者的年龄、职业或性别如何,研究结果都清晰表明:女性拥有的友谊数量远超男性,且友谊的内容与质量存在“显著且毋庸置疑的差异”。)”以及通读全文可知,心理学家Rubin主要研究的是两性在对待友谊上的区别,所以他的研究中心是有关男人和女人的朋友关系问题。故选B。
