We’ve all heard about the man who discovered gravity (重力) and the apple that fell from a tree and hit him on the head. However, the 17th-century “aha moment” is actually a bit of a lie! Newton did witness an apple falling from a tree one day and this got him thinking about what actually caused the apple to fall to the ground.
Newton later developed his theory of Gravity, believing that Earth has a force (力) that pulls objects down, which prevents objects from aimlessly floating around.
While we know that Isaac Newton discovered Gravity, he also made many other scientific discoveries. Newton is also credited with discovering the three laws of motion. These three laws, or principles, explain how things move.
Law 1: An object at rest stays at rest. A moving object keeps moving. Objects continue doing what they’re doing unless a stronger force acts on them.
Here, the stronger force is the wall. It stops the truck but not the boxes, so they keep moving backward.
Law 2: It takes more force to move a heavy object than to move a lighter object. Newton came up with a scientific formula to explain this:
Force = Mass x Acceleration.
Large weights with a lot of mass require more force to lift than smaller, lighter weights do.
Law 3: For every force, there is an equal reaction in the opposite direction.
Air from an untied balloon rushes out in one direction. As the air escapes, it pushes the balloon in the opposite direction.
21. Which part of a magazine is the reading material most probably taken from?
A. History. B. Sports. C. Culture. D. Science.
22. The drawing for Law 1 shows that ________.
A. the boxes get a stronger force than the truck
B. the truck stays at rest, but the boxes do not
C. the wall acts on the truck but not on the boxes
D. the truck keeps moving but the wall stays at rest
23. Which picture best shows Law 3?
A. B. C. D.

【22题详解】
推理判断题。根据“Law 1: An object at rest stays at rest. A moving object keeps moving. Objects continue doing what they’re doing unless a stronger force acts on them. Here, the stronger force is the wall. It stops the truck but not the boxes, so they keep moving backward.”
根据“Law 3: For every force, there is an equal reaction in the opposite direction. Air from an untied balloon rushes out in one direction. As the air escapes, it pushes the balloon in the opposite direction.”及图示可知,对于每一个力,都会有一个方向相等的反作用力。在图片D中,当对球施加一个力时,球以相等的力量将冰面上这个人往后推。故选D。

IMAX China announced that Disney’s Zootopia 2 had a great opening, making $20.5 million in IMAX theaters during its five-day first showing in China.
The film broke all IMAX China records for a Hollywood animated film, setting new records for midnight shows, opening-day, and opening-weekend ticket sales. This makes it the best five-day opening ever for a foreign animated film in China.
Zootopia 2 also had the second-highest opening weekend of any animated film in China, behind only Ne Zha 2.
Research from Lighthouse shows that Zootopia 2 earned more in a single day than any other foreign film in Chinese history, passing even Avengers (复仇者联盟): Endgame. It is the most successful Hollywood movie in China in the last three years. Also, during its opening weekend, seven out of the ten highest-earning theaters across China were IMAX theaters.
What led to the film’s amazing success? Besides its beautiful scenes, cute characters and the meaningful theme, the movie connected well with Chinese viewers—a connection that goes beyond movie types and is further strengthened by the exciting IMAX experience. The mix of an attractive story and a better way to watch movies shows that China’s cinema market remains pretty strong.

A. Beautiful scenes and cute characters. B. Meaningful theme.
C. Good connection with Chinese viewers. D. The low ticket price of IMAX theaters.
26. Which of the following can we infer from the passage?
A. Ne Zha 2 is a foreign animated film.
B. Avengers: Endgame was once the foreign film with the highest single-day box office in China.
C. Most of the top-earning theaters in China are always IMAX theaters.
D. China’s cinema market is becoming weaker because of more foreign films.
27. What is the main idea of the last paragraph?
A. The reasons for Zootopia 2’s great success and the strength of China’s cinema market.
B. The beautiful scenes and cute characters of Zootopia 2.
C. How IMAX experience improves people’s movie-watching feelings.
D. Why Chinese viewers like different types of animated films.

There is a call in the air, “Hoo-hoo, hoo, hoo.” It almost sounds like “Who’s awake? Me, too.” There is only one bird that sounds like this—the great horned owls (大角猫头鹰). It can be heard about anywhere, because these owls live in mountains, forests, deserts, city parks, and even on some tops of homes.
Great horned owls hunt (猎取) just about anything that’s not too big for them. They like insects and snakes other birds and so on. They also like cats, so keep your cat inside. Another delicious meal for a great horned owl is a skunk (臭鼬)! The world is just one big food provider for this big owl.
Its wings can reach five feet. That’s the size of many shorter adults! There are almost no predators (捕食者) that hunt this kind of owl. The great horned owl is the top predator. When it hunts, it likes to sit and wait. It can hear the smallest sound, like the sound of a tiny mouse from far away. Its excellent eyesight in low light makes it the perfect night hunter. The owl has something else that helps it hunt. Its flight is silent. At night, as the owl flies silently toward its “food”, the animal has no idea it’s in danger.
The owls usually build homes in January and raise their families in winter. The female (雌性动物) sits on the eggs, and the male brings her food. About a month later, the babies stay under the mother’s wings. Slowly, the little ones move out from their mother’s wings. Both parents closely guard them, The young great horned owls start walking around the home in about another month often crowding each other. The parents usually sit nearby, perhaps on a tree branch, and guard the home. Don’t ever go near a great horned owl’s home. Those parents won’t like it, and they are likely to fight against anything that comes near the family. The parents bring food home to feed the young owls. Soon they are preparing for the day when they fly away from their home. They don’t leave at the same time.
28. What does Paragraph 3 mainly tell us?
A. What the great horned owl looks like. B. Why the great horned owl is a good hunter.
C. When the great horned owl hunts for nice food. D. Where the great horned owl hunts for great food.
29. What are great horned owl parents like?
A. Weak. B. Silly. C. Careful. D. Fun.
30. Which question does the passage answer?
A. What does the great horned owl like eating?
B. What do the great horned owls’ eyes look like?
C. How do the young great horned owls learn to fly in the sky?
D. How long can the great horned owls live on the Earth?
31. What is the writer’s purpose according to the passage?
A. To show our best friend. B. To introduce a kind of animal.
C. To encourage us to protect great horned owls. D. To explain why great horned owls are important.

①A terrible fire happened in Hong Kong in late November. A deadly flame started in a big apartment building, caused by an electrical problem on a low floor. The fire spread fast up the building because of flammable outer insulation (隔绝) and strong air flow inside, covering many floors in just a few minutes. The disaster killed many people, bringing great sadness to families and making the whole country think about the safety problems of tall buildings in cities today.
②This sad event made people more aware of the long-time safety problems in high-rise buildings. A few days later, the Ministry of Emergency Management asked for a full safety check of all tall buildings across China, including homes and office towers. Inspectors need to check fire alarm systems, whether emergency exits are easy to reach, if fire-fighting tools work well, and if the buildings follow the rules about using flammable materials. The main goal of the check is to find hidden dangers, make people fix problems at once, reduce risks, and stop such terrible accidents from happening again.
③________ so the government made strict safety rules over the past 15 years. One important rule was banning flammable outer insulation in 2021, which was a direct answer to past disasters where such materials made fires spread much faster. These rules are not random orders—they come from the sad loss of people’s lives in previous fires.
④But there is still a big problem: China has nearly 3,500 very tall skyscrapers, more than any other country, and over one million high-rises (buildings with eight or more floors). Many of these buildings were built between the 1980s and the early 2000s, when China’s cities were growing quickly and safety rules were not as strict. Now, many of them are old, with old electrical systems and rusty fire-fighting pipes, making the risks even worse.
⑤Even though the new safety rules seem strict, they are necessary. Following these rules—whether by building developers, property managers, or people who live there—is not just a legal duty, but also a responsibility to protect lives. The national safety check is an important step to solve these big risks, and it reminds us that staying safe in tall buildings needs constant care and strict following of the rules.
32. Which of the following can be put in the ________ in Paragraph 3?
A. China has had many deadly fires in tall buildings before,
B. China has fewer skyscrapers than most countries,
C. Many buildings were built in the last century,
D. The safety checks focus on all high-rises this time,
33. According to the article, which of the following statements about the “important 2021 regulation” is correct?
A. This regulation requires that all high-rise buildings have fire alarm systems.
B. This regulation bans the use of flammable outer insulation materials in high-rise buildings.
C. This regulation first mentions that managers must check fire risks every month.
D. This regulation came from the 2024 Hong Kong fire.
34. The structure of the passage is ________
A. ①/②③④/⑤ B. ①/②③/④⑤ C. ①②/③④/⑤ D. ①/②/③④⑤
35. What is the author’s main purpose in writing this article?
A. To provide a complete news report detailing the Hong Kong fire accident.
B. To point out the government’s historical failures in high-rise building safety.
C. To use the recent fire to warn the long-standing safety risks and to call for attention from others.
D. To promote China’s technological achievements in the field of high-rise building safety.

About 41.1 percent of Chinese men were overweight or obese (肥胖的) compared with 27.7 percent of Chinese women, according to a study published in a well-known medical journal.
Chinese Body Mass Index (BMI体质指数) system describes overweight as BMI from 24 to 27.9 kg/m2 and obesity as BMI at or above 28 kg/m2. You can know your BMI with the following formula.
BMI= weight in kg/(height in m)2:
Researchers studied data from about 15.8 million people across about 250 cities in China. According to Chinese BMI standard, 34.8 percent of the studied population was overweight and 14.1 percent was obese. These people were aged 18 or above.
There are several reasons why men are more likely to be obese. As fathers, husbands, and brothers, men usually have to stand long-term excessive stress and negative feelings which can make the body produce more stress hormones (荷尔蒙). Such hormones play a role in increasing fat accumulation.
In order to reduce stress, men often tend to drink alcohol, eat an unbalanced diet, and stay up late into the night. Some other habits, like sitting for too long without moving at work and sleeping irregularly (不规律地) are also closely related to obesity. All of the above can add to the risk of becoming obese.
By region (地区), the percentage of overweight and obesity in the north was generally higher than that in the south, with Inner Mongolia (37.1 percent), Shandong (37.1 percent), and Hebei (36.6 percent) being the top three.
People in higher BMI groups tend to have a greater number of complications. The early examination and intervention are important ways to prevent obesity-related complications.
41. The study was published in a well-known medical journal, wasn’t it?

44. In your opinion, what can schools do to help students maintain a healthy BMI? (2 points)
____________________________________________________
【答案】41. Yes, it was. 42. 54kg.
43. Because of long-term excessive stress, negative feelings and unhealthy lifestyles.
44. ① Schools can offer more physical education classes and organize various sports activities to encourage students to exercise regularly. ② Schools can carry out health education courses to teach students about balanced diet and the importance of maintaining a healthy BMI.
根据文章第一句“About 41.1 percent of Chinese men were overweight or obese compared with 27.7 percent of Chinese women, according to a study published in a well-known medical journal.”可知,该研究确实发表在一本知名医学期刊上。故填Yes, it was.
【42题详解】
根据所给的体质指数公式可知,体质指数为24 kg/m²,身高为1.5m,得出体重为54kg。故填54kg.
【43题详解】
根据倒数第四段中的“As fathers, husbands, and brothers, men usually have to stand long-term excessive stress and negative feelings which can make the body produce more stress hormones (荷尔蒙). Such hormones play a role in increasing fat collecting.”以及倒数第三段中的“ In order to reduce stress, men often tend to drink alcohol, eat an unbalanced diet, and stay up late into the night. Some other habits, like sitting for too long without moving at work and sleeping irregularly (不规律地) are also closely related to obesity. All above can add to the risk of becoming obese. ”可知,男性更容易肥胖的原因是因为长期过度的压力,消极的情绪和不健康的生活方式。故填Because of long-term excessive stress, negative feelings and unhealthy lifestyles.
【44题详解】
本题为开放性试题,结合学校可采取的措施给出两点合理建议即可。示例答案如下: ① Schools can offer more physical education classes and organize various sports activities to encourage students to exercise regularly. ② Schools can carry out health education courses to teach students about a balanced diet and the importance of maintaining a healthy BMI.

In China, AI chatbots like DeepSeek are becoming popular helpers. Students chat about exam fears, and young parents ask about family arguments. These computer programs give replies day or night, earning the name “24-hour digital friends.” But can AI truly replace human doctors?
A 2024 report shows that 45% of people who need mental health (心理健康) care failed to receive help. High costs and doctor shortages remain big problems. Professor Daniel Lowd explains, “AI chatbots offer free support anytime. They are not perfect, but if they reduce people’s loneliness, that’s meaningful progress.”
They design treatment plans weekly based on patients’ conditions. Professor Richard Lachman warns, “Chatbots repeat doctor-like words without real medical training. This could be risky.”
Some companies are trying to create safer AI tools. The Wysa app follows strict UK hospital rules, always telling users “I’m not a real doctor” during talks. It suggests breathing exercises for stress and connects users to human experts for serious problems.
For quick help with simple issues like school pressure or friend fights, chatbots work well. They’re free and never get tired. But for long-term mental health needs, human doctors do better. They remember your birthday, notice your new haircut, and laugh at your jokes just like your friends. Building this kind of rapport (融洽) is something AI cannot achieve.
The future might see chatbots dealing with common questions while doctors focus on serious problems. It might be better to use both: chatbots for quick advice at midnight, and real doctors for deeper conversations during daylight hours.
AI chatbots like DeepSeek are new helpers for Chinese people’s mental health. They are free and available anytime, _______50_______ and solving problems like high costs and not enough doctors. But they cannot do what human doctors do well. They have no medical training, so they may be risky. Even though some AI tools (such as Wysa) can let users talk to real doctors, they still can’t _______51_______ between doctors and patients. The article says, in the future, _______52_______, and human doctors will handle hard cases.
All in all, _______53_______
【答案】50. reducing loneliness
51. build the rapport
52. chatbots will handle common questions
53. chatbots and human doctors should be used together
【解析】

【51题详解】
根据“Building this kind of rapport (融洽) is something AI cannot achieve”,AI无法建立医患间真正的融洽关系。故填build the rapport。
【52题详解】
根据“The future might see chatbots dealing with common questions while doctors focus on serious problems”,空格处需体现“AI聊天机器人处理常见问题”的未来趋势,用一般将来时。故填chatbots will handle common questions。
【53题详解】
全文核心结论是“AI聊天机器人和人类医生各有优势,应配合使用”,结合最后一段“It might be better to use both: chatbots for quick advice... and real doctors for deeper conversations”,需总结二者“协同使用”的观点。故填chatbots and human doctors should be used together。

While we know that Isaac Newton discovered Gravity he also made many other scientific discoveries.
Force = Mass x Acceleration.
D. the truck keeps moving, but the wall stays at rest
23 Which picture best shows Law 3?
A. B. C. D.

24. The underlined word “animated” in the passage probably means ________.
A. related to actions and movements
B. made with drawings, cartoons or computer graphics
C. filmed with real people instead of drawings
D. about science fiction and future technology
25. According to the passage, which one is NOT a reason for Zootopia 2’s amazing success?
A Beautiful scenes and cute characters.

They like insects and snakes, other birds and so on.

BMI= weight in kg/(height in m)2:
