In the beginning I could understand nothing of what they were singing. Later I got a book with the words of all the songs. I read the book many times. I sang the songs to myself. Still, I understood very little of the meaning. It became my dream to learn English well so that I could understand the Beatles. That is how I started my way toward English.
When I was 13, I started reading science fiction books. I read in Polish, because I did not know English so well. As I read in Polish, I was more and more eager to read the books in English. When I learned English well enough to read pop-science books, I found that English is very important for learning science.
For the last four years I have read books only in English. Now I study mathematics. Most books I use are in English. Learning English is very interesting and I want to share it with others.

Last summer vacation,16-year-old Li Hua joined a hiking adventure team to explore a remote mountain area with his cousin. It was his first time to go on such a challenging trip, and he was both excited and a little nervous.
On the first day, they set off early in the morning with backpacks full of water, food, and outdoor tools. The mountain road was narrow and steep, and there were many sharp stones on the way. Li Hua fell down twice at the beginning, and his knees were slightly hurt. He felt tired and wanted to give up. But his cousin encouraged him: “Keep going! The view at the top is worth seeing.”
With his cousin’s encouragement, Li Hua continued to move forward. They walked through dense forests, crossed small streams, and climbed over high rocks. Along the way, they saw colorful wild flowers, heard the singing of birds, and even spotted a small group of squirrels jumping between trees. Li Hua forgot his tiredness gradually and started to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery.
When they were about to reach the top in the afternoon, the weather suddenly changed. Dark clouds gathered quickly, and a heavy rain began to fall. The road became slippery, making it more difficult to walk. Li Hua’s shoes were soaked, and he couldn’t see the road clearly. At that moment, the team leader took out a compass and a raincoat, and told everyone to stay close together. Li Hua followed the team closely, holding onto the rope tightly. After an hour of hard walking, they finally reached the top safely.
Although they were all wet and tired, when they saw the magnificent view — endless mountains covered with green trees, and white clouds floating below their feet — everyone cheered excitedly. Li Hua took many photos and felt a strong sense of achievement. That night, they set up tents and had a bonfire party. They shared food and told stories under the starry sky.
The next day, they started to go down the mountain. On the way back, Li Hua helped a younger team member carry his backpack. He also taught the others how to use the compass correctly, which he had learned from his cousin.
This hiking adventure made Li Hua realize that courage and perseverance are important for overcoming difficulties. It also let him know that helping others can make the trip more meaningful. He decided to go on more such adventures in the future to explore the beauty of nature.
24. Why did Li Hua want to give up on the first day?
A. He was afraid of the wild animals B. He fell down and felt tired
C. The weather was bad D. He missed his family
25. What did Li Hua see during the hiking?
A. Wild animals like tigers B. Colorful wild flowers and squirrels
C. A beautiful lake at the top D. Ancient buildings in the forest
26. How did the team deal with the sudden heavy rain?
A. They returned to the foot of the mountain immediately
B. They hid under a big tree
C. The leader used a compass and raincoat, and everyone stayed together
D. They waited in a cave until the rain stopped
27. What can we infer from the passage?
A. Li Hua will not go hiking again
B. The hiking trip was easy and relaxing
C. Li Hua learned a lot from the adventure
D. The team didn’t reach the top because of the rain

Wild animals are an important part of the earth’s ecosystem. They play a vital role in maintaining the balance of nature. However, in recent years, many wild animal species are facing the danger of extinction due to human activities such as deforestation, overhunting, and pollution.
Take the giant panda as an example. Giant pandas live in the mountainous areas of Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu in China. They mainly feed on bamboo. In the past, due to the destruction of bamboo forests, the living space of giant pandas became smaller and smaller, and their number decreased sharply. Thanks to the efforts of the Chinese government and people, including setting up nature reserves and carrying out breeding programs, the number of giant pandas has increased in recent years. But they are still in need of protection.
Another example is the African elephant. African elephants are famous for their long trunks and large ears. They are important for the African grassland ecosystem because they help spread seeds and create water holes for other animals. However, illegal hunting for elephant ivory has caused a great decline in their number. Many countries have taken measures to ban ivory trade, but the situation is still serious.
Protecting wild animals is not only protecting the animals themselves but also protecting human beings. If wild animals disappear, the ecosystem will be destroyed, which will have a bad impact on human survival. So what can we do to protect wild animals? First, we should stop buying products made from wild animal parts. Second, we should reduce pollution to protect their living environment. Third, we should spread the knowledge of animal protection to more people.
It is everyone’s responsibility to protect wild animals. Only when we work together can we ensure that wild animals live in peace, and our earth will become a better place for all living beings.
28. What does the underlined word “extinction” mean in Paragraph 1?
A. Living in peace B. Being in danger
C. Disappearing completely D. Growing quickly
29. What is the main idea of Paragraph 2?
A. Giant pandas feed on bamboo B. Giant pandas’ living space is small
C. China has made efforts to protect giant pandas D. Giant pandas are in danger and need protection
30. What is the author’s attitude towards protecting wild animals?
A. Unconcerned B. Supportive C. Doubtful D. Negative
31. What can we infer from the passage?
A. Human activities are the main cause of wild animals’ danger
B. Giant pandas are no longer in danger
C. Ivory trade has been completely banned
D. Protecting wild animals has nothing to do with humans
【答案】28. C 29. D 30. B 31. A
【解析】

【28题详解】
词句猜测题。根据划线词上文“However, in recent years, many wild animal species are facing the danger of(然而,近年来,许多野生动物物种正面临……的危险)”中however表示转折,以及后文举例大熊猫和非洲象数量减少的情况,说明许多野生动物物种正面临灭绝的危险。可推断“extinction”意为“灭绝”,即“完全消失”。故选C。
【29题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第二段“Take the giant panda as an example. Giant pandas live in the mountainous areas of Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu in China. They mainly feed on bamboo. Thanks to the efforts of the Chinese government and people, including setting up nature reserves and carrying out breeding programs, the number of giant pandas has increased in recent years. But they are still in need of protection.(以大熊猫为例。大熊猫生活在中国四川、陕西和甘肃的山区。它们主要以竹子为食。过去,由于竹林遭到破坏,大熊猫的生存空间变得越来越小,其数量急剧减少。多亏了中国政府和人民的努力,包括设立自然保护区和开展繁育计划,近年来大熊猫的数量有所增加。但它们仍然需要保护)”可知,第二段的主要观点是大熊猫处境危急,需要得到保护。故选D。
【30题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“It is everyone’s responsibility to protect wild animals. Only when we work together can we ensure that wild animals live in peace, and our earth will become a better place for all living beings.(保护野生动物是每个人的责任。只有当我们齐心协力时,才能确保野生动物能够和平地生存,我们的地球也将成为所有生物更美好的家园)”可知,作者对保护野生动物持支持态度,故选B。

Friendship is one of the most precious things in our life. Everyone needs friends, especially when we are in trouble. A true friend can bring us joy, give us support, and help us grow. But what is true friendship? And why is it so important?
True friendship is not about being together all the time or giving expensive gifts. It is about trust and understanding. When you are happy, a true friend will share your joy; when you are sad, he or she will comfort you. When you make a mistake, a true friend will point it out and help you correct it, instead of ignoring it or laughing at you. For example, if you fail an exam, a true friend will not only encourage you but also help you analyze the reasons for failure and make a study plan.
True friendship is also about mutual respect. Friends should respect each other’s hobbies, opinions, and choices. You don’t have to agree with everything your friend says, but you should listen to their ideas patiently. If you have different opinions, you can discuss them peacefully instead of having a quarrel.
Why is true friendship so important? First, true friendship can make us feel warm and not lonely. In our daily life, we may face many difficulties and challenges. With the support of a true friend, we can have more courage to overcome them. Second, true friendship can help us improve ourselves. A good friend can influence us in a positive way, making us more confident and responsible.
However, true friendship is not easy to get. It requires time and effort to develop. We should be honest to our friends, care about them, and be willing to help them when they need it. We should also learn to forgive their small mistakes, because no one is perfect.
In conclusion, true friendship is invaluable. It is worth cherishing with all our heart. With true friends by our side, our life will be more colorful and meaningful.
32. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. How to make many friends B. The value and characteristics of true friendship
C. Friends should give expensive gifts D. It’s easy to get true friendship
33. What is the author’s attitude towards true friendship?
A. It’s precious and worth cherishing B. It’s useless and unimportant
C. It’s difficult to get so we don’t need it D. It’s only needed when we are in trouble
34. What can we infer from the passage?
A. True friends must be together all the time B. True friends will ignore your mistakes
C. A good friend can help you become better D. You should agree with everything your friend says
35. Which of the following is a characteristic of true friendship?
A. Laughing at friends’ mistakes B. Not listening to friends’ ideas
C. Respecting each other’s choices D. Being together all the time
【答案】32. B 33. A 34. C 35. C

第二节 (满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Sometimes things don’t go as planned, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still be wonderful in their own way. My parents and I had spent forever researching summer camps online. Finally, we picked out one where I could design games, animate (制作动画) characters, and learn other cool coding (编程) stuff.
My mom said “I like the idea of you exercising that clever brain of yours. But I also want you to get plenty of fresh air.” “Campers can choose to hike or swim every afternoon!” I said, as I clicked on the registration form.
My dad filled out the form, and weeks later, my parents dropped me off for what I thought would be a week of nonstop computer-coding fun.
I arrived at the check-in table at the same time as a camper of my age named Halley, who was wearing an adorable sunhat. Halley greeted, “We are in the same group - number 7.” Led by an advisor, we followed the green arrows to the campsite.
I surprisedly found that it was so cool and woodsy along the path. I exchanged ideas with Halley about what might come out of the camp. Halley excitedly mentioned the little animals he loved to observe and something about night sky watching.
“You gave me the best idea,” I said. “I’ll base my characters on the animals you mentioned!” Halley laughed. “I might be missing something here. Who are these mysterious characters?”
“You know, the characters we’ll be designing and animating on computers this week!” I said. “Uh, sorry. Still lost,” said Halley. “Why would we be doing computer stuff at Nature Camp?”
It was then that I realised some errors must have been made. I must have accidentally clicked on the wrong online form! We immediately raced back to the welcome table to see if I could switch over to Tech Camp, but of course it was completely full.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I forced a smile as we headed for our campsite.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“OK, I’ll have a try,” I looked at Halley thankfully.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
I forced a smile as we headed for our campsite. As I stepped forward, I just felt so disappointed that I had to sit down. Seeing that, Halley sat next to me. For the next few minutes, regret immersed me as my treasured Tech Camp slipped away due to my inattention. Then Halley broke the silence, whispering kindly, “I guess it was the call of the wild.” I responded with a bitter smile. I was presented the stuff I could enjoy from nature, suggesting we hike and experience it. “You can discover unexpected excitement.” he encouraged me.
“OK,I’ll have a try,” I looked at Halley thankfully. We reached the campsite and started to explore the nature. Nature Camp turned out amazing! We turned over stones to be amazed by the creatures beneath and hiked through woods to be greeted by the mountains behind. My favorite time came when we slept out under the stars, talking about ancient Greek stories. Even though I didn’t choose the program on purpose, Halley was right. Try not to stay stuck in the negative for a whole bunch of amazingness really is just waiting to jump out and surprise you!

27. What can we infer from the passage?

Sometimes things don’t go as planned, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still be wonderful in their own way. My parents and I had spent forever researching summer camps online. Finally, we picked out one where I could design games, animate (制作动画) characters, and learn other cool coding (编程) stuff.
My mom said, “I like the idea of you exercising that clever brain of yours.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I forced a smile as we headed for our campsite.
