They aren’t just any gloves, however. The specially made bionic (仿生学的) devices are letting the 79-year-old play with both hands for the first time in over 20 years. The artist is considered one of the greatest players of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Martins retired in 2024. By then, he had undergone 24 medical procedures to try to reduce pain caused by a progressive disease and from a series of accidents. His limitations had forced him to work mostly as a musical conductor since the early 2000s. But in the final days of 2019, friends returned to his home. They listened to him once again bringing his favourite classical music back to life on his piano. Before the gloves especially developed for him, Martins could only play songs slowly with his thumbs and, sometimes, his pointer fingers. Martins’ health problems date from 1965. He became known for coming back from every struggle he faced. For example, he suffered nerve damage in his arm from a soccer injury. But even his close friends believed that the latest surgery, on his left hand, would mark the end of his days as a pianist. However, one designer, Ubirata Bizarro Costa, created special bionic gloves for Martins’ hands. The gloves help move his fingers up after they press on the piano keys. Costa created early models based on images of Martins’ hands. But he said those models were “far from ideal”. He then decided to tell Martins about his efforts. Costa and Martins then spent several months testing different models. The perfect match came in December, and cost only $125 to build. The new gloves have given Martins a new goal. He hopes to play the piano at New York’s Carnegie Hall. He is already set to conduct a concert celebrating the 60th anniversary of his first appearance there. 24. Why did Martins specifically invite his friends to the bar? A. To showcase his new compositions. B. To celebrate his physical recovery. C. To share the joy of his artistic rebirth. D. To announce his new performance schedule. 25. What may be the evaluation of the effectiveness of his latest surgery? A. A wonder. B. Great regret. C. An unavoidable accident. D. An unexpected success. 26. What can be inferred from the text? A. Costa is passionate about classical music. B. Costa is a person full of kindness and creativity. C. Martins has never performed at Carnegie Hall before. D. It was in the 2010s that Martins was unemployed. 27. What is the purpose of the text? A. To advertise a special concert. B. To promote a new technology. C. To tell us about magic gloves letting a pianist play again. D. To introduce an outstanding musician. C 25. B 26. B 27. 根据第一段中“Brazilian pianist Martins invited his friends to a bar near his home, showing them the best gift he had received: a new pair of gloves.( 巴西钢琴家马丁斯邀请他的朋友到他家附近的一家酒吧,向他们展示了他收到的最好的礼物:一副新手套。)” 以及第二段中“The specially made bionic (仿生学的) devices are letting the 79-year-old play with both hands for the first time in over 20 years.( 特制的仿生设备让这位79岁的老人20多年来第一次用双手弹奏。)” 根据第四段中“But even his close friends believed that the latest surgery, on his left hand, would mark the end of his days as a pianist.( 但就连他最亲密的朋友也认为,最近在他左手上做的手术,将标志着他钢琴家生涯的终结。)” 根据第五段中“However, one designer, Ubirata Bizarro Costa, created special bionic gloves for Martins’ hands. The gloves help move his fingers up after they press on the piano keys. Costa created early models based on images of Martins’ hands. But he said those models were “far from ideal”. He then decided to tell Martins about his efforts. Costa and Martins then spent several months testing different models.( 然而,一位名叫乌比拉塔·比扎罗·科斯塔的设计师为马丁斯的手设计了一副特殊的仿生手套。 通读全文,结合第二段中“ They aren’t just any gloves, however. The specially made bionic ( 生学的) devices are letting the 79-year-old play with both hands for the first time in over 20 years.(然而,它们并不是普通的手套。这种特制的仿生设备让这位79岁的老人20多年来第一次用双手玩耍)”可知,文章主要讲述了巴西钢琴家马丁斯因为健康问题无法正常弹奏钢琴,但是在设计师科斯塔为他设计了特殊的仿生手套后,他又能够重新弹奏钢琴的故事,由此可推知,文章的目的是在介绍这副神奇的手套让钢琴家重新能够弹奏。故选C项。 C A Dutch museum has recovered an artwork that looks like two empty beer cans after a staff member accidentally threw it in the rubbish bin. The work, entitled All the Good Times We Spent Together by the French artist Alexandre Lavet, appears on first glance to be two abandoned and dented (瘪) beer tins. However, a closer look shows they are carefully hand-painted and required a lot of time and effort to create. Their artistic value was lost on a mechanic, who saw them displayed in a lift and threw them in the bin. The curator (馆长) Elisah van den Bergh returned from a short break and noticed the cans had disappeared. She recovered them from a bin bag just as they were about to be thrown out. Froukje Budding, of the LAM museum in Lisse, western Netherlands, said artworks were often left in unusual places—hence the display in a lift. “We try to surprise visitors for all the time,” she said. “We have now put the work in a more traditional place on a plinth (底座) so it can rest after its adventure.” She stressed there were no hard feelings towards the mechanic, who had just started at the museum, stating that he was simply performing his duties. Sietske van Zanten, the museum’s director, emphasized the museum’s mission to encourage visitors to see everyday objects in a new light. “By displaying artworks in unexpected places, we enhance this experience and keep visitors on their toes,” he added. Budding also noted the cans were unlikely to stay on their traditional plinth for long and that they needed to think hard about a careful place to put them next. 28. Why did the mechanic throw the artwork in the rubbish bin? A. Because it stood in the way. B. Because it took much space. C. Because it looked like real trash. D. Because it looked strange in the lift. 29. What was Budding’s attitude toward the mechanic’s behavior? A. Understanding. B. Concerned. C. Critical. D. Unforgiving. 30. What does the underlined phrase in paragraph 4 mean? A. Make visitors ready for surprises. B. Remind visitors of dangers. C. Warn visitors not to litter. D. Show visitors around the museum. 31. What might happen to the artwork in the future? A. It will be kept in a safe. B. It will be put in a selected place. C. It will be sent back to the lift. D. It will be placed in a traditional setting. C 29. A 30. A 31. 根据第二段“The work, entitled All the Good Times We Spent Together by the French artist Alexandre Lavet, appears on first glance to be two abandoned and dented (瘪的) beer tins. However, a closer look shows they are carefully hand-painted and required a lot of time and effort to create. Their artistic value was lost on a mechanic, who saw them displayed in a lift and threw them in the bin.(这件由法国艺术家亚历山大・拉韦(Alexandre Lavet)创作、名为《我们一起度过的美好时光》的作品,乍一看像是两个被丢弃且瘪了的啤酒罐。 根据第三段“Froukje Budding, of the LAM museum in Lisse, western Netherlands, said artworks were often left in unusual places—hence the display in a lift.(来自荷兰西部利斯镇拉穆博物馆(LAM museum)的弗鲁克耶・巴丁(Froukje Budding)表示,艺术品常常被放置在不寻常的地方 —— 这就是它被放在电梯里展出的原因。)”和本段“She stressed there were no hard feelings towards the mechanic, who had just started at the museum, stating that he was simply performing his duties. (她(Froukje Budding)强调,她对这位刚到博物馆工作的机械师没有不满情绪,还表示他只是在履行自己的工作职责)”可知,Budding 强调对刚到博物馆工作的机械师没有不满情绪,并且表示他只是在履行自己的工作职责,即他看到这些作品在电梯里展出,便把它们扔进了垃圾桶(见小题1详解)。由此可以推断出,Budding 对机械师的行为持理解的态度。故选 A项。 根据第四段“Sietske van Zanten, the museum’s director, emphasized the museum’s mission to encourage visitors to see everyday objects in a new light. ‘By displaying artworks in unexpected places, we enhance this experience and keep visitors on their toes,’ he added.(博物馆馆长西茨克・范赞滕(Sietske van Zanten)强调了博物馆的使命,即鼓励游客以新的视角看待日常物品。 故选A项。 根据最后一段“Budding also noted the cans were unlikely to stay on their traditional plinth for long and that they needed to think hard about a careful place to put them next(巴丁(Budding)还指出,这些啤酒罐不太可能长时间放在传统的底座上,而且他们需要认真思考接下来把它们放置在一个合适的地方)”可知,Budding 指出这些啤酒罐不太可能长时间放在传统的底座上,并且他们需要认真思考接下来把它们放置在一个合适的地方。 D Every year thousands of people come to the city of Pamplona, in north-eastern Spain, for the opportunity to run for their lives as six fighting bulls are released to charge through the town. There are injuries and deaths every year, but the event is of interest to many people. A paper just published in Science describes the insight the event offers into the psychology of panicked crowds. That is a useful topic to explore. Architects, civil engineers and urban planners must try to work out how people will behave in the event of a disaster like a fire, a flood or a terrorist attack so they can design their creations to avoid potentially deadly collisions (碰撞). Unfortunately, solid information is hard to obtain. Daniel Parisi, the paper’s lead author, realized that the Pamplona bull-runs offered the perfect natural experiment. Dr. Parisi and his team went to two different rooftop locations in Pamplona in July 2023, and filmed the runners as the animals were released. Later in the lab, they calculated the speed of the runners, the density (密度) of the crowd, the probability of a runner tripping and falling and the relationship between runner-group density and speed. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the researchers found that runners picked up speed when the bulls drew near. Less expected was the finding that the speed of individual runners increased with the density of the crowd, which was contrary to a long-held assumption in architectural and urban-design circles that people will slow their pace as group density goes up, in order to lower the risk of a collision, which could lead to a fall and, perhaps, injury or death. Yet it seems that, in the heat of the moment, people pay little attention to the danger of colliding with each other, and do not slow down. The responsibility therefore falls upon urban designers to work out how best to plan the construction of future tunnels, bridges and other passages that restrict the flow. The only option may well be to make them wider. 32. What does the paper concentrate on? A. How six fighting bulls appeal to so many people. B. How bull-runs cause injuries and deaths every year. C. How six fighting bulls are released to charge through the town D. How bull-runs affect frightened people’s minds and behaviours. 33. Why is a disaster like a fire, a flood or a terrorist attack mentioned in paragraph 2? A. People should learn how to deal with such disasters in a proper way. B. People can behave in the same way as they do when bulls run in the city. C. Architects, civil engineers and urban planners often consider such disasters. D. Architects, civil engineers and urban planners sometimes ignore such disasters. 34. What is the long-held assumption when there is a dangerous situation? A. People may lose their minds in disasters. B. People will slow down in crowded areas. C. People tend to speed up in high-density crowds. D. People in panicked crowds can be unaware of the collision. 35. How did Dr. Parisi and his team carry out their research? A. By observing the event and analyzing the information. B. By using the method of reasoning and judging. C. By consulting the organizers of the bull-runs. D. By doing experiments with some volunteers. 【答案】32 D 33. B 34. B 35. 根据文章第一段最后一句“A paper just published in Science describes the insight the event offers into the psychology of panicked crowds. (一篇刚刚发表在《科学》杂志上的论文描述了这一事件对恐慌人群心理的启示。)”可知,这篇论文主要关注的是奔牛节是如何影响恐慌人群的心理和行为的。因此,选项D“How bull-runs affect frightened people’s minds and behaviours.(奔牛节是如何影响恐慌人群的心理和行为的)”符合题意。 根据文章第二段第二句“Architects, civil engineers and urban planners must try to work out how people will behave in the event of a disaster like a fire, a flood or a terrorist attack so they can design their creations to avoid potentially deadly collisions (碰撞). (建筑师、土木工程师和城市规划者必须设法了解人们在火灾、洪水或恐怖袭击等灾难中的行为方式,以便他们设计建筑时可以避免潜在的致命碰撞。)”和第三句“Unfortunately, solid information is hard to obtain.”(不幸的是,很难获得确切的信息。)以及第四句“Daniel Parisi, the paper’s lead author, realized that the Pamplona bull-runs offered the perfect natural experiment. B“People can behave in the same way as they do when bulls run in the city.(人们在城市中看到牛奔跑时的行为和在灾难中的行为可能相同)”符合题意。 根据文章第四段最后一句“which was contrary to a long-held assumption in architectural and urban-design circles that people will slow their pace as group density goes up, in order to lower the risk of a collision, which could lead to a fall and, perhaps, injury or death. (这与建筑和城市设计领域长期以来的一个假设相悖,即随着人群密度的增加,人们会放慢脚步,以降低碰撞的风险,这可能导致摔倒,甚至可能造成伤害或死亡。)”可知,在危险情况下,人们通常会放慢脚步以避免碰撞,这是长期以来的一个假设。因此,选项B“People will slow down in crowded areas.(在拥挤的地区人们会放慢脚步)”符合题意。 Parisi and his team went to two different rooftop locations in Pamplona in July 2023, and filmed the runners as the animals were released. (2023年7月,帕里西博士和他的团队前往潘普洛纳两个不同的屋顶位置,拍摄了动物被释放时奔跑的人们。)”和 “Later in the lab, they calculated the speed of the runners, the density (密度) of the crowd, the probability of a runner tripping and falling and the relationship between runner-group density and speed. (后来,在实验室里,他们计算了奔跑者的速度、人群的密度、奔跑者绊倒和摔倒的可能性以及奔跑者群体密度与速度之间的关系。)”可知,帕里西博士和他的团队是通过观察奔牛节事件并分析收集到的信息来进行研究的。因此,选项A“By observing the event and analyzing the information.(通过观察事件和分析信息)”符合题意。故选A。 ____36____ It is not only the image provided by the packaging that counts but the whole corporate identity (企业形象) of the company. There are now many products and services on the market which are similar in content though produced by different companies. It is important, therefore, for a company to distinguish itself from its competitors by having a strong company image which is immediately recognizable. Logos are part of this image. ____37____The logo establishes a visual identity for the company, just as different groups of young people express their identity through hairstyles and clothes. All groups from all cultures and throughout the ages have used colors and symbols to show their identity. ____38____Some colors may be connected with coldness in one culture and with warmth in another; some colors stand for life in one culture but death in another. International companies have, therefore, to make sure that their logos will not be misunderstood or misinterpreted in different countries. The logos of large international companies are instantly recognizable throughout the world. ____39____The design of the words “Coca Cola” has not changed since 1886, although the surrounding design has been changed from time to time. Companies need to have a strong corporate identity. The logo helps to promote this image and to fix it in the minds of the consumers. ____40____ A. There was a time when Coca Cola was struggling a bit with brand recognition. B. One of the most famous logos is that of Coca Cola. C. In different cultures, different colors carry different meanings. D. Logos, therefore, need to be original and to have impact and style. E. Colour isn't a strictly visual element; it's very psychological. F. They are symbols which often include a name or the first letters of it to identify a company. G. Obviously the quality of a product does, but visual images contribute a great deal. G 37. F 38. C 39. B 40. Logos are part of this image"承上启下,指标志是企业形象的组成部分,空处就应该是对logo一词的解释。选项F“这些商标通常包括一个公司的名字或名字的第一个字母,用来识别一个公司。”中的They指代的是前句的Logos。 故选F项。 【38题详解】 根据该空后面的内容“Some colors may be connected with coldness in one culture and with warmth in another; some colors stand for life in one culture but death in another. International companies have, therefore, to make sure that their logos will not be misunderstood or misinterpreted in different countries.( 有些颜色可能与一种文化中的寒冷和另一种文化中的温暖有关;有些颜色在一种文化中代表生命,而在另一种文化中代表死亡。 【40题详解】 空处位于段尾,该空前面“Companies need to have a strong corporate identity. The logo helps to promote this image and to fix it in the minds of the consumers.” In our modern world, when something wears out, we throw it away and buy a new one. Mava received an invitation from her friend Lily asking Maya to attend her birthday party next Wednesday evening. To Maya’s amazement and excitement, the invitation looked like it came from Hogwarts. It would be a Harry Potter-themed costume party. As Lily’s good friend and as one of the millions of Harry Potter fans, Maya definitely accepted the invitation without a second thought. Her favourite character was Harry’s best female friend Hermione. Maya admired her not just because she was extremely clever and a bit of a know-it-all, but also for her bravery and a positive mindset. Every time faced with difficulty, she always had a way out. Maya was so eager to wear Hermione’s costume that she couldn’t wait to make preparations for it. She made a list of things to buy, which consisted of a f lark V-neck sweater, a white collared shirt with the Gryffindor tie, a skirt, stockings, Mary Jane shoes, a black cloak (斗篷) and of course a scarf of bee color. With the list in hand, Maya happily went to tell her mother, Sarah, all about it. Sarah was weaving a sweater in the living room. After learning Maya’s plan, Sarah thought it was not necessary to buy all the clothing for they cost a lot and Maya had already had a dark V-neck sweater, a white collared shirt, many skirts, stockings and a pair of Mary Jane shoes. Therefore, she advised her daughter to rent or buy a second-hand black cloak and a brown and golden scarf. But Maya insisted that all the costumes should be brand-new. “Hermione is more about books than looks. Just remember to keep things tidy, simple and modest.” Sarah stopped weaving and told her daughter. Maya agreed with her mom, but she still wanted a new cloak and a new scarf. Looking at the half-weaved sweater, Maya got an idea. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Over the following days, Maya was making her cloak while Sarah was weaving the scarf. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Looking at the half-weaved sweater, Maya got an idea. “Mom,” Maya exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement, “why don’t we make the cloak and scarf ourselves?” Sarah was more than delighted at her daughter’s proposal. She would put aside the sweater she was weaving and set out to weave a scarf similar to Hermione’s. Maya took the task of making the cloak. She had learned something about sewing at school. They found a DIY instruction video for a cloak online and used leftover cloth from a project Sarah had finished. Over the following days, Maya was making her cloak while Sarah was weaving the scarf. Sarah was experienced at weaving so the scarf weaving went smoothly. The brown and gold stripes scarf was in sight. As for the cloak, although following the video instructions, Maya found it not that seemingly easy. Nevertheless, with great passion and patience, Maya did it eventually. On the long expected night, wearing Hermione’s costume, especially the hand-made scarf and cloak, Maya felt a surge of warmth and pride, ready to embrace the magical evening ahead. “You are brilliant like a real Hermione,” Sarah smiled at her daughter. 词汇激活 行为类 ①着手做某事:set out/set about ②完成:finish/complete ③拥抱:embrace /hug 情绪类 ①快乐的:delighted/pleased ②聪颖的:brilliant/smart 【点睛】[高分句型1] On the long expected night, wearing Hermione’s costume, especially the hand-made scarf and cloak, Maya felt a surge of warmth and pride, ready to embrace the magical evening ahead. B Shortly before Christmas in 2024, Brazilian pianist Martins invited his friends to a bar near his home, showing them the best gift he had received: a new pair of gloves. For example he suffered nerve damage in his arm from a soccer injury. D To introduce an outstanding musician. C A Dutch museum has recovered an artwork that looks like two empty beer cans after a staff member accidentally threw it in the rubbish bin. The work, entitled All the Good Times We Spent Together by the French artist Alexandre Lavet, appears on first glance to be two abandoned and dented (瘪的) beer tins. D Every year thousands of people come to the city of Pamplona, in north-eastern Spain, for the opportunity to run for their lives as six fighting bulls are released to charge through the town. A People may lose their minds in disasters. ____36____ It is not only the image provided by the packaging that counts but the whole corporate identity (企业形象) of the company. Mava received an invitation from her friend Lily, asking Maya to attend her birthday party next Wednesday evening. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Excuse me, am I heading the right way to . the museum?
