A lion was sleeping under a tree when a small mouse ran over his paw (爪子). The lion woke up and caught the mouse with his paws. “I’m going to eat you.” the lion shouted.
“Please let me go,” the mouse begged. “If you spare me, I’ll help you one day.” The lion laughed loudly. “How could a little mouse help a big lion?” he thought. The lion laughed at the idea but let the mouse go, thinking it was too small to be a threat (威胁).
Weeks later, the lion got stuck in a hunter’s net. He pulled and roared, but the net was too strong. Just then, the mouse heard his cries. Remembering the lion’s kindness, the mouse ran to help. He chewed (咬) through the ropes with his sharp teeth until the net broke.
“Thank you,” the lion said. “I never thought a small mouse could save me.” The mouse smiled. “Even the weak can help the strong.”

Have you ever noticed that a puddle (水坑) disappears on a sunny day? Where does the water go? Let’s do an experiment to find out.
What you need:
A small pot with a lid (盖子) Some water
A heater Ice cubes (冰块)
Steps:
1. Pour about 50 ml of water into the pot.
2. Put the pot on the heater. Wait until the water starts to boil. You will see steam rising from the water.
3. Put the lid on the pot. Let it stay for 1 minute.
4. Turn off the heater. Take the lid off carefully. You will see small drops of water on the inside of the lid.
5. Now, put some ice cubes on the lid. Wait for another minute, then take off the lid again. More drops will appear, and they will be bigger.
What happens?
When the water is heated, it turns into steam. The steam hits the cool lid and turns back into liquid water. When we put ice on the lid, the lid becomes even cooler. This makes more steam turn into water drops.
Why does this matter?
This experiment shows how water changes form. The same thing happens in nature. Puddles dry up because the sun heats the water, and it turns into steam. The steam rises into the sky and becomes clouds. When the clouds get cold, the steam turns back into water, and it rains.
31. What is the purpose of the experiment?
A. To make ice cubes. B. To test if the pot is very good.
C. To boil water quickly. D. To show how water changes form.
32. What should you do right after the water starts to boil?
A. Add more water. B. Turn off the heater.
C. Put the lid on the pot. D. Put ice cubes on the lid.
33. Why do more water drops appear when ice is put on the lid?
A. The ice melts and adds more water.
B. The ice pushes the steam down.
C. The heater makes the water boil faster.
D. The cooler lid makes more steam turn into water drops.
34. What does the underlined word “it” in the last paragraph refer to?
A. The sun. B. The water. C. The puddle. D. The lid.
35. What class may this be?
A. Physics. B. Biology. C. Geography. D. History.
B) 阅读表达(10分)
阅读D篇短文,回答下面的问题。

Jane Goodall is a famous scientist. She has spent her life studying chimpanzees (黑猩猩) in Africa. Her work shows us how science can help us understand animals better. In 1960, Jane went to Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania. At that time, most scientists believed animals couldn’t use tools. But Jane observed chimpanzees using sticks to get termites (白蚁) from nests—a clear example of tool use. Working in the jungle wasn’t easy. Jane faced many challenges, including bad weather and dangerous animals. But she remained patient. She spent hours watching the chimpanzees quietly to learn about their social behavior (行为) and family life.
Jane’s work changes how we think about animals. She shows that chimpanzees have feelings and can form strong bonds (纽带) with each other. Her research proves that animals are more clever than people thought. Today Jane continues to work for animal protection. She travels the world, giving ‘ speeches about environmental protection. Like Dr. Bethune, who dedicated his life to helping people, Goodall has dedicated her life to understanding and protecting animals.

A The ice melts and adds more water.
A. Physics. B. Biology. C. Geography. D. History.
【答案】31. D 32. C 33. D 34. B 35. A

Today, Jane continues to work for animal protection. She travels the world, giving ‘ speeches about environmental protection. Like Dr. Bethune, who dedicated his life to helping people, Goodall has dedicated her life to understanding and protecting animals.
