After finding out your best skill, the next step is to study carefully. To find out as many different kinds of jobs as possible, go to the library and read books, magazines and newspapers for information. Ask your friends what they think of the work they do.

◇考点 02 重难语篇提升练
Every year, thousands of students leave universities or colleges so that it is a big problem for them to find a fine job. In fact, there are different kinds of jobs in this society, but how should young people choose a proper one? That often worries the young people and their parents.
“Finding a job” is not the same as “choosing a job”. Many young people can’t get right jobs. Here are a few steps to help you think about which jobs you might enjoy doing after you leave school or university.
First, it is important to know what kind of person you are, what special qualities you have and what you are interested in. There is a difference between an interest and a skill. If you like art and enjoy looking at pictures, that is an interest, but if you can draw a horse and it looks like a horse instead of a big dog, that is a skill.
Then ask yourself a question, “Of the following three skills- skill with people, skill with information and skill with things, which is my best skill?”
After finding out your best skill, the next step is to study carefully. To find out as many different kinds of jobs as possible, go to the library and read books, magazines and newspapers for information. Ask your friends what they think of the work they do.
The last step is to trust your own ideas and your own thinking! It is your own life. Just find the job you really enjoy doing.
1.In Paragraph 1, what does the underlined word “one” refer to?
A.school B.university C.problem D.job
2.Paragraph 1 tells us that it’s ________ to choose a right job for young people.

C.You like running every morning. D.You love reading books.
4.What’s the right structure of the passage? (①= Paragraph 1, ②= Paragraph 2,….)
A.B.C. D.

When Leon Martir asked for his parents’ advice on how to become a UX designer (设计师), they both went silent. “In fact, I had no idea what he was talking about,” said Anne, his mother. “I don’t know whether he was talking about designing clothes, computer programs of a fancy kind of bike.”
Even when her 18-year-old son explained that it was something about “behind the scene online design, his mother was still a bit confused and felt like I had completely failed as a parent.” she said. “My job as a parent is to open doors so my children can achieve their potential (潜力), but now can I do that when I don’t even understand what their dreams are?”
▲ Research has found that more than 2/3 of parents in England are now facing the problem that, when their children express interest in new education and job choices, they may know nothing about them. More than 75% of parents feel it is almost impossible to offer their children good advice in such a fast-changing job market.
Michelle Rea did a survey of over 2,000 parents of High school students in England. She found that many parents were afraid their children hardly follow them.
“We all know that parents’ opinions and suggestions play an important role in shaping and influencing their children’s career (职业) dreams,” she said. “But we usually depend much on our own experiences. And things have changed so much since most of us were at school.”
Bryony Mathew, writer of the Awesome Career Books, said the world was changing so rapidly that parents should not try to decide on certain careers for their children.
1.What should a successful parent be able to do according to Anne?
A.Become a great UX designer.
B.Do an excellent job online.
C.Develop their children’s potential.
2.Which of the following titles is the best sentence to fill in the blank in Paragraph 3 ▲ ?
A.Anne is not alone. B.Anne has bad luck. C.This is very strange.

3.细节理解题。根据“Michelle Rea did a survey of over 2,000 parents of High school students in England. She found that many parents were afraid their children hardly follow them.…”可知,米歇尔·里的调查主要显示许多父母担心他们的孩子几乎不跟随他们,也就是担心他们的孩子会拒绝分享自己的职业梦想。故选B。
