The last few days have seen all sorts of problems caused by the weather. High winds have brought down trees, leaving many homes and businesses without electricity. In the city, 3,000 homes have been influenced, some going as long as 24 hours without power. Recent reports suggest that 600 homes in the countryside are still without power despite the emergency services working around the clock to put things right. Thankfully, things are about to change for the good. Tonight, the skies will be calmer and the temperatures will be warmer. There will be a few showers hanging around next morning, but by the afternoon most areas will be enjoying bright sunshine with temperatures up to 15℃. The positive weather continues into Friday, and by the weekend, coastal areas will be up to 18℃; 20℃ if you live in city neighborhoods. The longer forecast suggests the good weather may not be around for long though, with colder winds expected the following week. That’s all for now. The machine uses small containers, called pods, just like Keurig coffeemakers.(ColdSnap公司推出了一款可以在大约两分钟内制作一份冰淇淋的机器。 根据文章第一段“One of the world’s largest technology events, Consumer Electronics Show(CES), is taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada. CES presents the latest technology offerings from companies across the world. Here is a look at some of the top products presented at the show this year.(全球最大的科技盛会之一消费电子展(CES)正在内华达州拉斯维加斯举行。 D。 B Yang Pei becomes known all over China since she appeared on the stage of Dream Show. People will always remember her smile on her face and her dream to have a shop selling her own products of cross-stitch (十字绣) on line. She is 24 years old without hands. When the host of the program was talking to her, she was always smiling. Her response was so quick and her expression was very good. How could a disabled girl without hands have so much confidence? Everybody was shocked when seeing a lovely and vivid girl standing on this stage showing her dream. When Yang Pei was 9, she was stricken by electricity because of touching an electric wire. Then she lost her hands. Since then she couldn’t go to school. Once she thought she was a fifth wheel for both her family and the society. At home she could do nothing but always needed help and much care. She had ever thought using death to free her family from this big burden. Her mother was very sad when she knew her daughter’s thinking and tried to persuade her daughter to treasure life and live on. With her family’s help, every single problem could be solved. Knowing that. her family would not give her up, she encouraged herself to live on. Once her mother took her to a place in public, then stayed there. A passer-by showed his mercy and gave them 200 yuan. Yang Pei’s self-respect was really hurt. It meant that they were beggars. Yang Pei immediately asked her mother to leave and go home. She didn’t want to live by the way of begging. She was actually unyielding (不屈的). She wanted to get a better life through her own hard work. From then on she began to learn cross-stitch, a Chinese traditional art work: She learned to do needle work, getting thread through the needle with her toes. You can imagine how difficult it is to do needle work with feet. Indeed, she did it. She could do it like a normal person and become very skillful after many times of practicing. When seeing Yang Pei performing her needle work on the spot, the audience were shocked. She used her toes to get the thread through the needle one by one to finish the last part of her work. Many people showed their favor to her: helping her get a store online for free, buying her pictures of cross-stitch, helping her sell her products in the future and so on. Now she has her own products. She can earn money to help her family. She has her own store online to sell her own art works. She achieved her dream. 24. Why do people admire Yang Pei? A. She is a girl of many talents. B. She is always smiling C. She is a lovely and vivid girl. D. She is a disabled girl with much confidence. 25. The underlined phrase “a fifth wheel” in paragraph 3 refers to “________”. A. someone who needs more care B. someone who is unwanted and unneeded C. a person who is lucky and happy D. someone who has to work harder than others to succeed 26. Why did Yang Pei begin to learn cross-stitch? A. Cross-stitch is a Chinese traditional art work. B. It is easy for her to do needle work with feet. C. She is always fond of cross-stitch since she was young. D. She wanted to get a better life by selling her own products of cross-stitch. 27. What can we learn from Yang Pei’s story? A. Man is the artificer (巧匠) of his own happiness. B. Failure is the mother of success. C. Drowning man will catch at a straw. D. Friendship is love with understanding. D 25. B 26. D 27. 根据第二段中的“She is 24 years old without hands. When the host of the program was talking to her, she was always smiling. Her response was so quick and her expression was very good. How could a disabled girl without hands have so much confidence?(她是一个24岁的无手女孩。 根据第三段中的“At home she could do nothing but always needed help and much care. She had ever thought using death to free her family from this big burden.(在家里她什么也做不了,总是需要别人的帮助和悉心照顾。 根据第四段中的“She didn’t want to live by the way of begging. She was actually unyielding. She wanted to get a better life through her own hard work.(她不想靠乞讨为生。 故选A项。 C Have you ever found picking out the face of a friend in a group photo is sometimes hard, especially when everyone crowds together? In the same way, it can also be hard to read a passage of text when the letters are too close together. In fact, a new study shows that spacing the letters farther apart can help anyone read faster, and possibly understand more. Dyslexia is a common reading disorder. Crowded text was especially difficult for people with dyslexia to read. So researchers wanted to see if increasing the spacing between letters would help. Steven Stagg, a scientist, studies how people think and learn. His team recruited 59 students between 11 and 15 years old, thirty-two of whom had dyslexia. While the researchers recorded them, each student read two passages out loud. One passage was in its original format. In the other, there was an increase of 2.5 points in the spacing between the litters. The recording allowed the scientists to measure their reading speed and count any mistakes, such as skipped words. People with dyslexia often employ aids to help them read, such as colored overlays (覆盖物). This time they are offered by the researchers. Those colored overlays didn’t help either group of kids. However, kids with dyslexia read the wider-spaced text 13 percent faster than the text with original spacing. These kids also made fewer mistakes. Students without dyslexia read faster, too, although only by 5 percent. This is very good news. It means teachers and publishers can print material with extra spacing between litters. Readers with dyslexia won’t feel singled out by having to use special aids for reading. An organization called Readability Matters is working on these issues. The group is trying to get tech companies to make changes that should make reading easier. Stagg says, “Some methods have shown mixed results, but Letter spacing seems to be the one thing that everyone is finding works.” 28. What is the purpose of the first paragraph? A. To make the article interesting. B. To present a common problem. C. To lead to the topic of the article. D. To provide a new solution. 29. What do you know about people with Dyslexia? A. They may understand everything while reading wider-spaced text. B. They may read faster than normal kids while reading wider- spaced text. C. They may free from dyslexia after increasing letter spacing. D. They may feel singled out while using colored layouts for reading. 30. In which column of a newspaper can we probably find this passage? A. Science study. B. Campus life. C. Star stories. D. Business. 31. What is the best title for the text? A. Readers Try to Improve Reading Speed B. You Just Need More Space C. Colored Overlays Are Helpful Aids D. Dyslexia Affects Reading Speed 【答案】28. C 29. D 30. A 31. 由第一段“Have you ever found picking out the face of a friend in a group photo is sometimes hard, especially when everyone crowds together? In the same way, it can also be hard to read a passage of text when the letters are too close together. In fact, a new study shows that spacing the letters farther apart can help anyone read faster, and possibly understand more. So researchers wanted to see if increasing the spacing between letters would help. 由第四段中的“People with dyslexia often employ aids to help them read, such as colored overlays (覆盖物). (阅读困难症患者经常使用辅助工具来帮助他们阅读,比如彩色覆盖物)”和倒数二段中的“Readers with dyslexia won’t feel singled out by having to use special aids for reading. 由第一段中的“In fact, a new study shows that spacing the letters farther apart can help anyone read faster, and possibly understand more. 故选A项。 由第一段中的“In fact, a new study shows that spacing the letters farther apart can help anyone read faster, and possibly understand more. (事实上,一项新的研究表明,将字母间隔得更远可以帮助任何人读得更快,甚至可能理解得更多)”,第二段中的“Crowded text was especially difficult for people with dyslexia to read. So researchers wanted to see if increasing the spacing between letters would help. 因此,研究人员想看看增加字母间距是否有帮助)”和第四段中的“However, kids with dyslexia read the wider-spaced text 13 percent faster than the text with original spacing. These kids also made fewer mistakes. D Litterati is an app that people can use to upload information about litter they collect outside, such as its appearance, material, location, and brand. Shared online, this information contributes to building a global database of “litter maps”, which can influence policy and packaging design. “Society’s failure to solve the litter problem is not from a lack of trying. There have been public service announcements, and coastal cleanups. But I believe two components are missing from the discussion — community and data,” said Jeff Kirschner, the developer of Litterati app. Uploading pictures to an app shows users that they are not the only ones picking up litter from public places and that others are invested in cleaning the planet, too. And the data accumulates rapidly telling a story that helps people understand who picked up what, where, and when. In this way, people are encouraged to do more. In San Francisco, the Litterati app was able to identify and map more than 5,000 pieces of litter in order to determine how much was caused by cigarettes specifically. Using this information, the city successfully challenged a lawsuit by tobacco companies and doubled an existing cigarette sales tax, bringing in US $4 million annual revenue (税收). By joining forces with others using the same platform, individuals are able to take their anti-litter activism to another level. The power of combined data leads to more Extended Producer Responsibility, which is precisely what we want and advocate here — producers are forced to be responsible for dealing with their own products once consumers no longer find them useful and are incentivized to create more environmentally friendly packaging or better policies as a result of that new responsibility. Litterati takes a refreshingly non-judgmental approach. It shows a positive we-can-do-it attitude. Just as Jeff Kirschner said, “Our goal isn’t to shame. It’s to provide transparency to the problem. We provide access to data and share insights with cities, citizens and businesses, guiding us all to identify the root cause of the problem, and make informed decisions of how to clean the planet.” 32. What makes the society fail to solve the litter problem according to Kirschner? A. People’s poor environmental awareness. B. The absence of government publicity and support. C. The inaction of the community. D. The lack of high technology. 33. Why are tobacco companies mentioned? A. To show the influence of Litterati. B. To describe the details of the map. C. To warn people of the harm of cigarettes. D. To prove the large consumption of tobacco. 34. What can be inferred from the text? A. People can be encouraged to pick up litter only if others are doing so. B. Individuals hardly get involved in picking up litter until the release of Litterati. C. The use of Litterati inspires producers to fulfill further obligations for the society. D. Kirschner developed the app with the aim of appealing to individuals to pick up litter. 35. Which of the following is the best title for the text? A. Litter Maps: Make Litter-Picking a Fun Way B. Litterati: Transparent Data for a Cleaner World C. Litterati App: Guide People Where to Collect Litter D. Litterati Campaign: Everyone Counts in Litter Picking 【答案】32 C 33. A 34. C 35. 根据第二段““Society’s failure to solve the litter problem is not from a lack of trying. There have been public service announcements, and coastal cleanups. But I believe two components are missing from the discussion-community and data,” said Jeff Kirschner, the developer of Litterati app.(“社会未能解决垃圾问题并非是因为没有尝试过。确实有过公益宣传,也有过海滩清洁活动。但我认为,在这场讨论中,缺少了两个关键要素——社区参与和相关数据。”Litterati应用程序的开发者杰夫·基尔希纳说道)”可知,因为缺少社区参与和相关数据,所以社会无法解决垃圾问题。故选C。 【33题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段“In San Francisco, the Litterati app was able to identify and map more than 5,000 pieces of litter in order to determine how much was caused by cigarettes specifically. Using this information, the city successfully challenged a lawsuit by tobacco companies and doubled an existing cigarette sales tax, bringing in US $4 million annual revenue 根据第五段“By joining forces with others using the same platform, individuals are able to take their anti-litter activism to another level. The power of combined data leads to more Extended Producer Responsibility, which is precisely what we want and advocate here-producers are forced to be responsible for dealing with their own products once consumers no longer find them useful and are incentivized to create more environmentally friendly packaging or better policies as a result of that new responsibility.(通过与使用相同平台的其他人携手合作,个人能够将他们的反乱扔垃圾行动提升到一个新的高度。 根据最后一段“Litterati takes a refreshingly non-judgmental approach. It shows a positive we-can-do-it attitude. Just as Jeff Kirschner said, “Our goal isn’t to shame. It’s to provide transparency to the problem. We provide access to data and share insights with cities, citizens and businesses, guiding us all to identify the root cause of the problem, and make informed decisions of how to clean the planet.”(Litterati 采取了一种令人耳目一新的非评判性态度。 Everyone wants to increase his brain power so that he can create new ideas. ____36____ Then what works to make it? I’ll admit it. I can be a complainer. After all, there’s so much in my life that annoys me: my school work, my brother’s dirty shoes, the neighbor’s loud music, rainy days, traffic jams… Complaining is what I have developed since childhood. My family doesn’t seem to mind. Mom always tries to excuse my behavior as something that I would outgrow, but I do remember some eye-rolling and long-drawn sighs from friends and families when I would voice my negative opinions. In fact, I can clearly recall the exact moment when I first realized my complaining habit deeply hurt people around. I had a generally pleasant high school life with my usually mild-mannered deskmate Lucy in Senior 2. Sure, there was still plenty to complain about, but she never seemed to mind. Or so I thought. Then, on a hot summer afternoon, we sat in our classroom - no wind, no air conditioning, the sweat messing my hair. Impatiently, I whispered something about the situation under my breath. Probably for the tenth time. Also, I reminded her once again to remove her arms from my table and take her books away, she put up her hand, turned to me and shouted, “Stop! Stop your complaining. It’s driving me crazy.” Her eyes widened. Turning away, she didn’t speak to me for the rest of the day. Perhaps I’d gone too far, I thought. Maybe I really did complain too much. I took a breath and sat down to think about solutions. I could hide myself in the washing room and scream. No. Other students would probably hear me. Turn to teachers or my family? They probably wouldn’t mind as well. Then it hit me. I’d been in the habit of keeping a journal. Journaling kept me sort of honest with myself, and I liked it for that reason. Perhaps, I thought, a complaint journal might be the answer I was seeking. That night, I sat down in front my desk and gave it a try. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I made up my mind to apologize to Lucy the next day. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】That night, I sat down in front of my desk and gave it a try. When I took the pen, the upsetting moment with Lucy flashed across my mind again. I poured my complaint out onto the page, detailing her every single annoying behaviour. However, as I wrote, a sense of guilt crept up on me. It dawned on me that she always put up with my complaints. I began to reflect on myself and mend my own way. It is my complaint that affects the life of people around me. I made up my mind to apologize to Lucy the next day. Immediately I met her, I said sorry to her, told her my regret and determination to change and asked her to remind me when I complained. She accepted my apology and agreed. Open to each other, we would make a fresh start. Writing down the complaint words lifted my weight from my shoulders and left me more time to reflect on myself. Gradually, I found my words changed, and my life changed as well. 词汇激活 行为类 ①拿起:take/pick up ②突然想到:dawn on/occur to 情绪类 ①我感到内疚:a sense of guilt crept up on me/ I really feel bad about it ②道歉:say sorry to/apologize to sb. 1】I poured my complaint out onto the page, detailing her every single annoying behaviour.(运用了现在分词作状语) 【高分句型2】It is my complaint that affects the life of people around me.(运用了强调句型) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 英语(十二) 选择性必修第一册(二) 考生注意: 1. Which color carpet does the man like best? B Yang Pei becomes known all over China since she appeared on the stage of Dream Show. C Have you ever found picking out the face of a friend in a group photo is sometimes hard, especially when everyone crowds together? Dyslexia Affects Reading Speed D Litterati is an app that people can use to upload information about litter they collect outside, such as its appearance, material, location, and brand. A To show the influence of Litterati. Litterati App: Guide People Where to Collect Litter D Litterati Campaign: Everyone Counts in Litter Picking Everyone wants to increase his brain power so that he can create new ideas. Journaling kept me sort of honest with myself and I liked it for that reason. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试现在开始,第一节听下面5段对话,每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的ABC3个选项中选出最佳选项。 This great carpet is exactly what we are looking for. but I like the red one best IT would look Better than the gray one in the bedroom. High winds have brought down trees, leaving many homes and businesses without electricity. In the city, three thousand homes have been influenced, some going as long as twenty four hours without power. Recent reports suggest that six hundred homes in the countryside are still without power, despite the emergency services working around the clock to put things right. Thankfully, things are about to change for the good. Tonight, the skies will be calmer and the temperatures will be warmer.
